During week 6, I lost 0lb.

The day before my official weigh-in, it looked like there would be a loss, but the scales went back up to last week's figure this morning. They've basically been bouncing around the same 0.8lb. Waist measurement also the same.

I had been ill for about a week and wondered if it was Wegovy-related. Then I felt better and rationalised that it could be my usual headache/nausea/bleh that I sometimes suffer from. I had decided to stay on 0.25, as it worked for me for the first four weeks. I had a few more cravings and wondered about going up by half a dose, but chickened out last night at the last minute. Then a disappointing weigh-in followed by being very hungry before lunchtime today, despite having breakfast, changed my mind and I injected an extra half a dose mid-afternoon. I'm a bit scared to go all the way up to 0.5, especially after that week of illness, so will see how this week goes.

I have a feeling it will be a looong year as I work to shift this 3.5 stone. Down more than half a stone so far and still eating healthily. On balance, better than I would otherwise have been.

amusedbush · 27/02/2024 09:26

@Striving4Better how are you feeling today after the extra injection?

DontUseYourNose · 27/02/2024 09:34

Week 8 for me and hoping to titrate up to 0.5 finally this week. I may not though as I'm going away this weekend and don't want to be unwell. I'll see how I go.

I'm managing the headaches better but if they're still bothering me in a week or two I'm going to throw in the towel.

I've lost a stone. I've a stone and a half to go.

Meadowdog · 27/02/2024 09:37

Doesn't anyone know whether 1.7mg of Wegovy is available anywhere please? I'm finally ready to move up and Asda is out of stock, as is Boots.

amusedbush · 27/02/2024 09:26

@Striving4Better how are you feeling today after the extra injection?

Thanks for asking. Today I feel absolutely amazing. I took a long lunch break and went for a swim! I honestly haven't felt this good since after the Christmas break.

I didn't eat breakfast until about 11.30 and decided to have something a bit more substantial (low carb pancake made of egg, cream cheese & ground almonds with a pinch of silly husk (psyllium husk) with yogurt & blueberries). Swam about 1pm. Protein shake (Purition with almond milk) at 2.30. Dinner 5.30 was a plain beef burger with green beans, followed by one prune!

I haven't been particularly hungry today, neither have I had trouble eating. A wee bit of acid reflux if anything as I sit here with a cup of tea and Mumsnet.

Striving4Better · 27/02/2024 18:48

@Meadowdog Bolt, Rightangled, Pharmacy2U & Chemist2U would seem to have 1.7mg. The one place I looked which was out of stock was Zava. I didn't look at the more well known places.

Meadowdog · 27/02/2024 19:15

Thank you @Striving4Better , and glad to hear how well you're feeling!

Tailfeather · 27/02/2024 19:18

Chemist4u just cancelled my order for 1.7.

Tailfeather · 27/02/2024 19:18

I haven't lost a single pound in the last 4 weeks. 😫 Going to up my water and protein and limit my carbs.

Meadowdog · 27/02/2024 19:38

Thanks @Tailfeather Having thought about it a bit more, I may order another 1mg pen and use it over the course of 3 weeks (so 1.33mg per dose). Not much more expensive per dose than a 1.7mg pen over 4 weeks. And as I had terrible side effects in the beginning and have had to ramp my dosage up very slowly, I think going straight to 1.7mg might be too much of a jump for me anyway.

Tailfeather · 27/02/2024 20:06

@Meadowdog I'm doing exactly that! Hoping they get the 1.7s in within the next 3 weeks.

Meadowdog · 27/02/2024 20:25

Great minds think alike @Tailfeather 😂, and yes, here's hoping they get the 1.7mg soon!

Mookie81 · 28/02/2024 18:01

Can someone keep an eye on the thread getting full to start a new one?
When I've done that with other topics I've been jumped on for starting a new thread too early! Confused
Just wanted to say well done to everyone no matter where you are in your journey.
It would be nice to hear from anyone who is ready or has already started to come off the meds and how they are managing it? I really don't want to put weight back on but I can't afford to keep this up forever.

I'm still a while away from that point yet but I'm planning to split doses of a 2.4 pen over 6-8 weeks for maintenance. I'm really scared to come off the medication completely as a study (published by Novo Nordisk themselves) found that a year after stopping Wegovy, participants had regained an average of 66% of the weight they'd lost 😩

serialsnacker · 28/02/2024 19:58

Hi all, I've been watching this thread for a while and finding it really useful/interesting, love following all the stories. I started Saxenda a year ago but had such bad side effects only lasted 3 weeks, though lost 12lb in that time. November 23 started Wegovey, injecting every 8 days and always 0.25mg ever since. This has resulted in losing 2 stones and I'm reaching my target BUT am really worried about coming off and possible weight gain - I had a few days a couple of weeks ago when I was snacking all day and managed a weight gain of 5lb over those 2 days. I asked Boots, my provider if there is a maintenance dose recommended but they responded with a 'no, just diet and exercise' after reaching goal. I've got rid of my bigger clothes and feel so much better with less bodyweight to carry around, anyone have any tips for the future please?

flouncymcflouncerson · 28/02/2024 20:48

I’ve gained 1 stone. Couldn’t get prescribed the usual dose of 2.4mg I’d reached and I’d been staying the same for months. Went on a cruise and gained weight, boots wouldn’t let me have my usual dose as I’d had 2 weeks off by the time they replied :(

Now on 0.25 and very definitely it’s not going to do much. I’d like to switch to mounjaro, boots need 4 weeks gap so unsure whether to try somewhere else??

opinions anyone or has anyone started mounjaro??

Striving4Better · 28/02/2024 20:56

@flouncymcflouncerson Mounjaro starting soon thread Lots of experiences of people swapping here.

Why on earth are you on 0.25? Advice is to drop down one dose for every extra week you miss so boots should have let you go to that

I was prescribed intially saxenda and then ozempic by a consultant. A professor in weightloss and his take is its a medicine for life so for me, thats what im looking at. He has said once I get to goal then its a case of trial and error of lowering dose and increasing the intervals between doses until I find a place I can sustain my weight.

Im in Ireland and was near goal and then shortages meant I had to stop taking it. Still finding it near impossible to source here but luckily Ive found a chemist to ship from the UK. When it became harder to source I reduced my dose and started taking every two weeks and managed to maintain weightloss until I had to stop completely so Id like to think in the future I could maybe take a small dose say 0.5mg every 10 days to 2 weeks and maintain

All of the guidance I’ve seen says if you miss more than two weeks, you have to start titration again from 0.25. The half life of Wegovy is pretty short so it’s mostly out of your system after two weeks. Taking a higher dose at that point has sent people to the hospital due to vomiting for days on end.

flouncymcflouncerson · 29/02/2024 18:32

I think it might be best to just switch over to mounjaro especially since boots won’t change their advice and prescribe higher. At least then I might go back to losing.

has anyone any idea of the best place to order mounjaro?

Striving4Better · 04/03/2024 19:12

End of week 7 and down 2.4lbs this week. As I had a zero loss last week, that evens out to about a pound a week over the last fortnight. Happy with that.

This past week was the one where I originally injected 0.25, then added an extra half dose the next day. May do the same this week, although I'm a day late injecting because I was out yesterday and couldn't face it when I got back.

I have little bruises at each injection site. This is bothersome. Found an article about diabetic insulin injections and bruises which suggested applying ice pack to the area before/after for 20mins and pushing down with a sterile cotton bud after. So I'm sitting here clutching an ice pack to my tummy.

The article also suggested using longer needles. I actually have some longer needles which I bought for extra doses, so I'll keep an eye on the bruise thing and may have to use those. The Novo Norodisk website says you can go long or short. It bothers me because these bruises seem to stick around for more than two weeks so my tummy looks like join the dots!

However, it all seems to be helping me stick to a healthy diet, which is what I wanted, so all good.

DontUseYourNose · 04/03/2024 19:21

I've noticed almost no effect since splitting the dose. Anyone have any advice? I'm afraid to go back to full doses because of the side effects.

Tailfeather · 04/03/2024 22:50

I took my 1.33mg yesterday! Feel nothing. Definitely think I need a higher dose. I haven't lost anything for 5 weeks now and have only not gained due to sheer willpower, but, from previous experience, the willpower can only last so long...

I've noticed almost no effect since splitting the dose. Anyone have any advice? I'm afraid to go back to full doses because of the side effects.

I decided on a whim to split my dose last week, so I did 1.2mg on Tuesday night and then another 1.2mg on Saturday morning. When I inject the full dose on a Friday, I feel a bit grotty over the weekend and I can't eat much, then I get steadily hungier and hungrier all week.

It's probably too soon to tell but I'm enjoying the split dose so far. The effects and appetite suppression feel much more stable.
