I've noticed almost no effect since splitting the dose. Anyone have any advice? I'm afraid to go back to full doses because of the side effects.

I split my doses and rave about it! No side effects and a more even result. Doesn’t wear off towards the end of the week like before because I’m injecting every 3-4 days.

everyone should try it!

flouncymcflouncerson · 10/03/2024 00:50

I’ve ended up with a 2.4mg pen of wegovy leftover. What am I meant to do with it??

I’ve switched to mounjaro as I had over a two week injection break and boots made me go back down to 0.25mg which did nothing so felt j may as well try this instead.

TakeMeToKernow · 10/03/2024 08:40

Black market, Flouncy? 😅

I have plateaued over the last 3-4 weeks or so, after reaching the 1.7mg dose. Total loss, 1st 1lb. I’m intending to come off Wegovy, see how I feel… I can’t really afford £££ to keep it up anyway. But I’ve a horrible feeling that I’ve become accustomed to how “hungry” I feel and that coming off will be a big shock :/

I don't understand - if you had a 2.4mg pen why were you following the boots advice and being limited to 0.25?

flouncymcflouncerson · 10/03/2024 13:35

Boots wanted me to restart on 0.25mg because I’d had the gap, I was on holiday and forgot to stab before I went, this resulting in a two week break and I contacted them for advice and was told I had to go back to beginning. I didn’t want to risk any health issues so trusted their advice so didn’t use the 2.4mg. Even if I had because of the timings and I wouldn’t have been able to order the higher dose. Cost wise it was also so expensive and I’d come to a standstill with my weight so felt it wasn’t working anyway so thought I’d try mounjaro. So now I’ve a pen I won’t use .

The only thing you could do is sell it to someone (on the downlow, of course!) to recoup some of your money. Or you could keep it and if you ever decided to go back to Wegovy, you could split the pen into smaller doses. If you returned it to the pharmacy, they wouldn't refund you and they'd have to bin it, so it's lose-lose.

It's annoying for you though - the 2.4mg pen is bloody expensive!

rosiebutterfly · 11/03/2024 14:43

Has anything found the injections increasingly more painful? I’ve done what I’ve always done injected in the leg and left the meds to get to room temperature but the only way I can describe it is like it’s catching constantly under the skin and feels like sharp pains when it’s going in, it’s happened the last two weeks I’ve also changed where I inject in the leg when it happens, just don’t understand it but feel like once 1ml is over I might give up as I’ve barely lost anyway

Striving4Better · 11/03/2024 15:54

@rosiebutterfly Try cooling the injection area with an icepack first (at least 10 mins, possibly 20). You could also try to inject into the abdomen as its flabbier (well, it is on me!).

I’m flabbier everywhere 😂😂😂

In recent years, my crisps and chocolate diet was very much influenced by my body's reluctance to accept healthy eating. This induced diarrhoea which didn't settle down, even though people said my body would get used to it after a couple of weeks. I had all the tests and scans and there was apparently nothing wrong. I decided it was probably IBS, although my doctor didn't believe in it, so I never had a formal diagnosis. Therefore, if stress and cravings didn't derail me from trying to lose weight, the diarrhoea did.

On Wegovy, apart from a little constipation and one or two instances of the runs early on, this problem appears solved. Now I read that GLP-1 can help with conditions of the gut: The Lancet Article . I think it's really the case.

Down another half a pound this week, for a total of 12lbs. I'm at the end of Week 8, but I've stuck to 0.25. I'm going up super slowly to 1.5 doses of 0.25 for the next few weeks. No cravings, some hunger, but sticking to healthy eating which I'm pleased about.

I’ve found exactly the same. I used to have pretty much daily trouble with what my doctor said was IBS (she believes in it 😁) and it has completely gone since I started taking Wegovy in November. Crazy to think it’s linked.

amusedbush · 15/03/2024 13:11

I'm a bit envious of your relief from IBS symptoms @Striving4Better and @ApoodlecalledPenny! Sadly Wegovy hasn't helped my IBS but that's because mine is caused by a physiological problem rather than dietary. Thanks to a connect tissue disorder, my digestive system doesn't have the power/muscle tone to keep everything moving correctly, so I'm doomed to a lifetime of playing the 'Rhoea Roulette 🙈

And a more general Wegovy update: today was my week 19 weigh in and I have lost 48lbs on the medication, and a total of 98lbs since my highest weight. Last week I had my ADHD meds review and my consultant warned me against getting too thin. TOO THIN. Me! Never in my life has a medical professional been concerned about me getting too thin, I can promise you that 😂

Hilariously, I now fit into age 13-14 clothes. My style is a combination of children's TV presenter and "quick, throw some clothes on and run to the shop before it closes" so, to my DH's dismay, this opens up a world of cheap, brightly coloured possibilities!

Wow that’s an amazing response, I’ve lost 3 pounds in 3 months! I think I’m one of the people that will need to move to max dose, congratulations

Wow, well done you, especially trying to balance other health issues. It sounds like you must be at or almost at your target weight? I am interested to learn what is advised at that point, do we just stop Wegovey and go cold turkey? Or is a maintenance dose possible/advised? How do we keep the weight off after all the hard work?

amusedbush · 16/03/2024 13:23

@rosiebutterfly I have been on the top dose for four weeks now. I wasn't very responsive to the lower ones; it kicked in around 1mg and I have gone through the higher doses with relative ease. I have lost so much weight because I have been in a strict calorie deficit, which is a bit boring but I'm just happy that Wegovy has removed the constant ravenous hunger that caused me to abandon all previous weight loss attempts.

@serialsnacker My BMI is 26.5 so, in theory, I'm about 10lbs from a healthy weight "on paper" but my body fat percentage is still in the obese range (34%), likely due to lipoedema. I'm aiming for a BMI of 22, so 26lbs to go.

Maintenance is scary, especially the thought of doing it without Wegovy. Obesity is a chronic condition so we should be allowed to stay on the medication indefinitely but the NICE guidelines state two years. Novo Nordisk published a study that found participants had regained an average of 66% of the weight they'd lost within a year of stopping Wegovy, so I'm planning to stay on it for as long as I can. Lots of people on Reddit inject 2.4mg fortnightly or else step back down to a smaller weekly dose for maintenance.

Mookie81 · 21/03/2024 17:12

Starting 2.4 this Saturday 😳
Have lost exactly 2 stone since November.
I'd like another half stone and that will do.
I'm worried about after so I might wean down?

hellsbells99 · 24/03/2024 10:34

I haven’t lost any weight this past week - still at 2stone 2lb loss, but do have a lot more to lose. So I have gone up from 1mg to 1.35mg yesterday ….decided that going up to 1.7mg was too big a jump especially as still suffering with constipation.

FattyPattyBumBum · 24/03/2024 10:44

Haven't checked in in a while because have not really been concentrating on what I have been eating and been busy so thought that I must have put weight on....started on 1.7 this week after 2 months of 1mg (where the first month was awful but the second month, felt like it had no effect). Thought I had better bite the bullet and weigh myself, only to find out I have lost another 0.5 stone in the past month and am now spitting distance to being a healthy bmi. After 3 stone loss people are finally noticing and I can put clothes on and feel so much more confident. I don't want to be stick thin as I know that is not viable for me to sustain, so I'm not sure how much longer I will be on a high dose of wegovy and am not sure how I will transition off it when the time comes.

Sw 15st 4
Cw 11st 4
Gw ? Don't know but not far off now.

I don't suppose there is anyone on the thread that has reached their goal weight and has come off it and can give advice as to how they have managed/found it?

hellsbells99 · 24/03/2024 17:43

@FattyPattyBumBum wow, that’s a good weight loss and encouraging that you have still lost half a stone in the last month when you don’t think it’s been effective. Unfortunately, I cannot give any advice on weaning off it as I still have a long way to go.
Going up to 1.35mg yesterday morning has made a noticeable difference today - I have not been bothered about snacking at all.

Mothercrispmonster · 25/03/2024 00:19

Starting Wegovy tomorrow 😳worrying about the side effects of nausea/vomiting.
Is it best to inject on empty stomach or eat first?

AhBiscuits · 25/03/2024 06:42

It will take some time to kick in so I don't think it matters. It would be worth reducing your portions and avoiding anything high fat now. I only feel really bad if I have too much.

Mothercrispmonster · 25/03/2024 06:45

@AhBiscuits oh of course…thank you 👍🏻

amusedbush · 29/03/2024 13:48

Hi everyone, how are you all getting on? The long weekend has started with truly rubbish weather here but ho hum, it's better than being at work!

I'm still plodding along and playing around with doses, which I'm not advocating but it has been interesting to see what works best for me. I found that weekly 2.4mg injections left me really hungry for 2-3 days of the week and injecting 1.2mg twice a week helped at first but quickly levelled out. I'm now splitting my 2.4 pen into six doses instead of four, and injecting 1.6mg every five days. That seems to be ideal for me so I will continue doing that for now.

Today was my weigh in and I lost another 2.8lbs, so that's 53lbs off in 21 weeks (103lbs since my heaviest). I can't sniff at that result but I did roll my eyes when I saw 11st 0.2lbs on the scales this morning - so close to the 10 stone bracket 😩 that's my motivation for next week!

AhBiscuits · 29/03/2024 14:04

Well done @amusedbush
That's absolutely fantastic. You must look so different.

I'm 11st 3 now. I think I'll lose it when I see a 10 on the scales, so exciting.

amusedbush · 29/03/2024 14:15

@AhBiscuits I genuinely haven't seen a 10 on the scales since I was 12 years old, so I'll probably throw a parade when it happens 😅
