Hi everyone, skinny daughter came by and she's set up the new thread for me but the links are in her name. She's not allowed to join us because she's too skinny but she's my technical advisor.

Thanks @poorpaws , do we fill up the old one first though?

I have a skinny dd too. She likes to rummage through my “cool retro clothes” that will never fit me again in this lifetime 🙄

Oh blimey @thenewaveragebear1983 have I messed up, I'm sorry. I thought we started a new thread as we neared the 1000 posts and as daughter was here I asked her to start the new one. I'm not at all technical as you all know, I really sorry, just do what you should do and ignore me.

@poorpaws dont worry, I think they have 40 pages but it doesn’t matter, everyone can just move over here or we can repost the link to this on the old one when we get near to 1000?

Report
poorpaws · 08/09/2023 20:17

I'm just ahead of myself aren't I @thenewaveragebear1983 I just saw it was getting nearer and thought we'd have a new thread cos 40 posts can go very quickly if we all post especially on Mondays when a few of us weigh in. 😳

I'll leave it to everyone to decide and go back under my blanket in shame.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I'm so pleased the dresses worked out. The one you're wearing is stunning! And what a bargain

They sell them in M&S too so if you have a big one near you you can try them on.

We can just fill up the old one with cat memes and inspirational quotes and move into thread 5

I love the dress @thenewaveragebear1983! love a side split, super flattering. Placemarking here. Been hectic with DC starting school and I've not really been exercising but I have been racking up the steps... 🙃my new job has a surfeit of gyms nearby so I'll be checking them out!

@Ledochas thanks. I’ll try and get a photo tomorrow night!

I’ve really struggled today food wise, I normally love the sun but this week has just been long and hot and I cracked today, ate loads of toast and lemon curd and now drinking wine. I don’t think I’ve eaten a single vegetable. Maybe it’s due to my low cal day yesterday? I also had the results of my ecg and I need to see a cardiologist because of my crazy low heart rate (45bpm) and a few other abnormalities they have picked up so that’s worried me a bit, obviously. And I’m due to be changing my HRT patch to the progesterone one on Sunday which is also causing me some worry…. So a perfect storm really. tomorrow is going to a write off anyway, with loads of alcohol and food, so I will regroup on Sunday and get back on track.

Yes do. Enjoy the night out however. I am starved of nights out with DC 3 and 6 months so I live vicariously through others.

Please help guys! I keep falling down a horrible black hole to unhealthy food and then self disgust :(
I started the year saying "this is my year" and I'm 7 pounds heavier!!
I am starting to feel like I just will never loose weight :(

@midnightblue12 Waves from inside the hole 👋🏻.
I gave myself a talking to last week after throwing myself headfirst into the hole, or 'fuck it'ing as I refer to it. Reminded myself that the only person to turn things around is me. Nothing changes if nothing changes and all that.
I'm working on things one tiny step at a time. Could that work for you? So all you need to worry about for now is losing that 7 pounds. Anything else can come later once you can high five yourself for that first goal. Mine is to get back to 17 stone again and undo the recent fuck it damage.

Morning everyone!
my weekend went by in a blur, our Saturday night was lovely (everyone loved my dress @Ledochas ) and we ate and drank too much, then yesterday was a combination of hot, hungover and tired (so we can all guess how that ended!)

but today is the start of a brand new healthy week! I planned to get up and run this morning but I didn’t sort my kit out and dh isn’t up yet so I haven’t gone but will try to squeeze one in later. My food is planned, I’m going to try to be quite strict these two weeks. I’m climbing snowdon in 2 weekends time and I’d like to be feeling healthier by then, so I’m going back to my high protein, no junk routine.

overall I’m feeling good in myself but I’m determined to see some weight loss. I caught sight of myself in a full length hotel mirror and I was embarrassed at how unhealthy and untoned I look, especially my tummy. I didn’t even weigh myself after this weekend as I am just so tired of seeing the scales creep up and up. My plan is to not weigh for 2 weeks but I’d like to see a smaller number then when I do.

Morning all....I'm back from holidays...
Drum roll for post holiday weigh in......
73.8 kgs
So not so awful...it was fun holiday but I didn't get to be as active as I wanted as my back and sciatica in hips were a bother, but it was still good.
I drank cocktails and wine every night so if I knock that on the head the weight will be easier to lose .
I need to get up and go for a run....I'm really struggling with commitment to the running and have a half marathon in four weeks so need a kick up the ..
How has everyone coped with the heatwave here ? Being hot sadly does not affect my ability to eat !

@PinkArt thank you! You're absolutely right. I set unrealistic goals for me based on how I used to loose weight when I was young, pre children. I could easily loose 5 pounds in a week and I seem to expect that from myself now and get so disappointed and discouraged when that doesn't happen!
Ok, first goal is 7lb.
I weighed 11.7 and 1/2 this morning (😢). I'll weigh again Saturday morning.
My end goal is 10.7. I know a stone might not seem like much to soem but I really struggle to loose weight and keep it off with having pcos. It feels like it's mountains away from me!

I've had yogurt, granola and fruit for breakfast. Chicken tikka and veg for dinner and chunky fish fingers and veg for tea.
Snacks are a protein bar and packet of hula hoops, 1450 cals in total!

Any low cal snack suggestions? Or quick low cal meals?
I need stuff I can grab in the ho! Single mum to two young children, I don't have time to be making meals from scratch every day :(

Some of fave low cal meals are -

Wholemeal pitta with tuna and cheese and side salad
Turkey bagel with side salad
Tuna Mayo past with side salad
Birds Eye chicken Kiev with veg
Fish fingers and veg
Chicken peri peri salad
Sweet chilli noodle salad
Cheese and beans potato with side salad

So yeah... very basic stuff 😅

@midnightblue12 snacks . Salted popcorn. Carrots, berries. Chicken. Boiled eggs. Mini twisters. But I’m beginning to think snacks are the devils work, best to stick to 3 meals.

@midnightblue12 I'm trying to get to your current weight! That's why small steps is the only way I can approach it - it's too much to think about all at once.
Re snacks, I've got a mental list of stuff that's around 100 calories - things like quavers, skips, fun size chocolate bars, those mini bags of biscuits. So not healthy snacks but I know what the damage is with them without feeling deprived.

Report
midnightblue12 · 11/09/2023 11:37

@PinkArt yeah I totally agree! I think that you can and should have those lower calorie snacks if it helps to keep you going.
Obviously it's better to have the healthy stuff, but it has to be sustainable doesn't it!
Didn't think of the mini choc bars, might have a look on Asda as to what's best!
What's your next goal?

The skinny crunch bars are nice, as are the skinny whip ones. B&m sell them. I have a sweet tooth and let’s not pretend, sometimes we just have to indulge it.

if you like savoury, I have posted these before- they are delicious on their own or with some cheese spread. Each cracker is 5cal and they actually have some bite to them. You can then bulk them up with sliced tomatoes and cucumber, or use with low fat Philli or humous (two things I like but they do need a vehicle…). Also nice with cheese and marmite. A few carrot sticks for soft cheese as well? For 200 cals you can actually have quite a substantial evening snack

i’ve only ever seen them in sainsburys but you can buy online

@midnightblue12 Small 'bad' snacks usually help keep me on track because my brain is happy that it's had a Mars bar and it isn't being deprived, even though it's had a fun size one.
First goal is back to 17 stone. Then I'd be thrilled to hit 15 which was my starting point last time I lost a lot of weight. Then around 11 would be the big goal. That was my heavier but normal weight when I was young but was also what I got down to from the 15. It all went horribly wrong when I had my gall bladder out and started gaining at the pace I'd been losing, with no dietary changes. And at some point fuck it kicked in because I figured if I was gaining anyway, I might as well gain with a lot of chocolate and pizza. So a lot of un-fuck it work to do.

@poorpaws joining please.

I am mid fifties and have 2 stone to lose. Being trying on and off for 3 years but think this is it. On day 8 no alcohol as the penny has dropped white wine has been sabotaging me. I have done OMAD low carb diet for a week (fast800 type food but not weighing or calorie counting) and lost 4 lbs. Hoping this thread will keep me going to reach goal by end of year. 👋🏻 to @thenewaveragebear1983 I was on your blood sugar diet thread years ago!
