I weighed today and a bit "shocketh to the core" as the teens like to say...

Can I have a drum roll please from the sisters of the convent of perpetual dieters...

71.6 kg...

Now I know some holiday weight gain was constipation which is now resolved but bloody hellfire...and 40 hail Mars bars...

I went for nice long run and weighed again just to be sure and yep down to 71.0 kg...

Theredjellybean · 16/09/2023 17:24

Oh and to be really sure I'd lost 2 kgs..I moved scales round the house and put new batteries in it

thenewaveragebear1983 · 16/09/2023 17:42

@Theredjellybean 👏 👏 👏

Theredjellybean · 16/09/2023 17:46

Thank you..

gluttonousgoldbug · 16/09/2023 17:49

Well done @Theredjellybean keep up the good work! @Ledochas hope all is ok x

Back to work has done me good. Down to 14.12 today so another 1.5lbs off and only half a pound from my previous low. Routine and reduced access to snacks for the win.

poorpaws · 16/09/2023 18:06

@Theredjellybean yayy! Very well done, your excitement is catching, I'm so pleased for you. ⭐️ you get a gold star this week

@gluttonousgoldbug. Well done to you too.

I'm going to have to rename this thread to "Dieting Wonders who just don't fail".

@Zebracat 🙋‍♀️ please could I nominate myself to come with you for the puppy purchases?

I'm doing ok. I think I've lost a little in the past 2 weeks but it's very slow to get the lbs off.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Thanks for the welcome all. I've been reading along to get myself in the zone because this is all about mental attitude, right? You're a great bunch by the look of it! @Theredjellybean really well done, that's a great loss - your convent analogy made me LOL [ex convent girl here.]
Yesterday, I shopped and planned and will start my low carb, 800 calorie diet tomorrow. I will log everything on MFP. I know this works for me as I've done it before and lost 2.5 stone. I need to do that again and more but work out how not to put it all back on - but that's something for later.
I'm spending the weekend sorting my head out and sliding myself gently into my plan which starts tomorrow. We were out last night with DH's lovely DB and SIL. I tried to make wise choices so ate a Mediterranean vegetable tart with a huge salad and then a very light meringue concoction involving limoncello for dessert. It was small but delicious so I hope not too ouchy on the calorie front. Today DD4 will be here so it's a full on roast beef dinner. I will have no Yorkshire and only one roast potato with lots of veg to minimise the damage. Lunch will be a small tuna mayo salad which I'll make in a pretty glass dessert bowl which is quite small yet somehow makes whatever you put in it look special and inviting! No snacks whatsoever.
Hope everyone's doing O.K. andhaving a good weekend,

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/09/2023 09:42

@Zebracat @poorpaws ds and I had a lovely mooch round pets at home, it’s so lovely to see how excited he is. We chose a very smart pink collar and lead and made a big expensive list of all the rest to go back after I get paid to make some purchases! We get her in 3 weeks so still a bit of time yet.

I’ve had a good few days but we had dh’s parents found last night and I had a few glasses of wine and a piece of strudel. Back on plan today though. I had some high protein seeded bread, cream cheese and smoked salmon for breakfast, after a run with my friend.

it certainly feels like autumn now and I had that moment where I put jeans on after a summer of dresses, shorts and trackies- and reaffirmed that yes, I do need to lose a stone. I love autumn clothes- cord and knitwear and scarves and boots- and the autumnal colours, but it’s a difficult style for me because it’s quite bulky. Has anyone seen/bought anything nice for the change of seasons?

Theredjellybean · 17/09/2023 15:58

@thenewaveragebear1983 ..i so agree about autumn dressing..i love the look of cable knit wear and cord ..but oh my it is not for the fully busted and slightly generous hour glasses amongst us ...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/09/2023 16:23

I love the slightly preppy, chunky knitwear, greens and rust and browns; I’m not blessed in the bust department and I still can’t wear a chunky knit as it then makes my top half look as big as my bottom half! I like a Jack wills or Uniqlo jumper in a size too big which gives a sloppy feel but they do need to be lightweight or I just look like a bear.

one thing I do recommend though is a nice wool (or wool-ish) coat. I have a nice grey one from H&M a few years back, it’s boxy shape and mid thigh length, quite masculine and I wore it today and remembered how much I like it. Plus it still fits which considering this year has been characterised by my bursting out of clothes like the hulk, I took as a win.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 17/09/2023 17:32

@Theredjellybean that’s lovely, I love Uniqlo

poorpaws · 17/09/2023 17:41

Oh my what a day! It thundered here all night and I was up all night with my very nervous collie cross. She was in a hell of a state all night long and won't go out today.

I felt wrenched this morning so I didn't get dressed and hoped I'd sleep most of the day which of course I haven't. I spent the whole day sitting and eating! I'd been doing so well and now it's all gone to pot 🙈

I was looking forward to weighing tomorrow now I don't think I'll bother.

Sleep deprivation is an instant gain for me. I have got my winter clothes down from the attic. I thought I would try seeing what I’ve got before buying more that I have no space to store. Radical, I know. I love Autumn clothes too.
I had a roast dinner at lunchtime.I don’t usually eat again but we were hungry and had bread and cheese and fruit. I go on holiday next Saturday, so I’ll try to show some restraint until then.

Zebracat · 18/09/2023 07:42

96.3 today, so it’s coming down.

recklessgran · 18/09/2023 07:58

Morning everyone. Day 1 for me. Start weight 15 stone.
I'm hoping for a stone off in the next 7 weeks. I'll be doing low carb, and 800 calories with an eating window 12-8pm. Currently at my desk with black coffee.

TheGreenSketch · 18/09/2023 08:04

I’d like to join please. At the end of 2019 I weighed 9st 6. Today I weigh 14st and I seemingly can’t lose a lb. I feel broken (& a bit scared I’m stuck in this body, tbh). I’m 54 and peri, HRTd to the max and permanently shattered.

recklessgran · 18/09/2023 08:08

Hi @TheGreenSketch I know how you feel so it's solidarity sister from over here. We can do this. Good luck with your brand new start. Have you got a plan?

Sedgwick · 18/09/2023 10:57

Day 15 for me, 9 lbs down and thrilled. Just need to be consistent. Sticking to Fast800 food rigidly, no alcohol (big deal for me).

Good luck @recklessgran. @TheGreenSketch I am 56 and was slim until I hit 50, it’s a lot harder to lose weight now, just take it one bad habit at a time, one half stone at a time.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/09/2023 13:53

Welcome new starters, good luck for your new plan @recklessgran and @Sedgwick . I lost a lot of weight doing fast 800 (back when it was the blood sugar diet!) and it certainly makes you rethink food and the way you eat.
I also empathise with the HRT/ peri/ tiredness feeling- I feel utterly exhausted today, I forgot a meeting and then had to whizz into work and was late, I’m now home and my computer is playing up and I just feel tired and emotional and overwhelmed- I totally blame my hormones as it’s month 1 of my meds and I would normally be on my period now but because I started on day 5 I expect to be 5 days late - feel very hormonal. I keep telling myself it will get easier, just give it time.

my food is all planned today, just having a chicken salad and baked potato and a yogurt. It’s strange going back to a diet club plan but it’s certainly making me focus on my food and I’ve maxed out the fruit and veg so hopefully 🤞 I’ll lose something. I haven’t weighed myself at all at home either which as you know is a big thing for me.

Who was I chatting about autumn clothes with? Was it @Theredjellybean? have you a Sainsbury’s near you? If so I recommend checking out their autumn range- I saw a beautiful lightweight/slightly stretchy forest green cord pencil skirt which was just lovely and a sleeveless Rusty orange longline puffa gilet with a hood, which I have promised myself I will try on after payday and treat myself if they are nice. They also had a dusky pink shirt dress which was nice but I have way too many of those so not allowed another.

midnightblue12 · 18/09/2023 14:06

I weighed this morning and was 11 stone 6.
1.5 pounds down from last week.
I actually lost more weight then that... on Thursday I was 11st4 but have been really struggling over the weekend with anxiety as my son has been unwell and I have emetophobia. There's not point me even attempting a diet at those times as my anxiety is just so bad.
Still feeling really worried and scared today... I just want this week to pass and no more sick!
I am trying though, so far had a good morning!

Theredjellybean · 18/09/2023 15:31

@thenewaveragebear1983 it was me...and I do...like sound of both of those...I'll report back when get a chance to go see.

TheGreenSketch · 18/09/2023 16:04

@recklessgran solidarity returned! A mixture of fasting/calorie control to end up with a weekly average of 1450. 10k day, 3 resistance seshes as gym and a bounce around in front of the TV to Total Body Project 3 times a week. I’m not feeling remotely like it’ll work, a dreadful feeling as I’m usually ‘you do the work you’ll get results’ but the reward never comes just now. Do you have a regime?

recklessgran · 18/09/2023 16:18

@TheGreenSketch yes, I'm low carb, 800 calories and intermittent fasting 16:8.
It's the only thing that seems to work for me but it is hard to stick to especially if, like me, you're an emotional eater. I've warned DH not to upset me [ha! ha!] so we'll see. I'm hoping to keep off the naughty step as much as I can.
I'm past retirement age but still working as I love my job but it's desk bound and WFH so not much physical activity going on especially M-F.
I've set myself a 4k a day step challenge which is ten times more than my usual weekday count and I intend to gradually increase this as we go along. I'm a fan of swing so I dance along to a few utube tutorials daily, you know, forward, back, side step side etc. I'm going to look up what you're up to, this Total Body Project to see if it's something I'd cope with as well as it sounds scary and I'm not fit, too fat, arthritis, laziness etc lots of excuses!

TheGreenSketch · 19/09/2023 06:22

@recklessgran this sounds hardcore! I wish you every success!
