@Theredjellybean happy birthday!
@gluttonousgoldbug I hear you about the shopping, I definitely think you should treat yourself to a solo shopping trip

Sedgwick · 24/09/2023 14:06

Feeling a bit weird here, I have thinning hair, common in my age group, my Instagram has cottoned on to me reading beauty stuff and vitamins around this. Today up popped a video with my friends daughter advertising as a real customer the hair potion that has ‘made her previously straggly hair improve to long thick locks’. Thing is I’ve known her since birth and fab waist length thick hair has been her thing for years. I love this girl, but also thinking well it’s snake oil isn’t it. Obvs wouldn’t dream of saying anything in real life.

Tessisme · 24/09/2023 15:01

What an absolutely beautiful place @thenewaveragebear1983. That photo is making me long to get out somewhere like that with fantastic scenery. It's been a while!

What a strange experience @Sedgwick. I suppose we all know it goes on, but I guess it's a reminder that we shouldn't believe everything we see on the internet😬

Sedgwick · 24/09/2023 15:26

@Tessisme yes you are right, I feel silly to be so taken aback by it.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/09/2023 15:43

@Sedgwick I totally agree, I have a friend who sells aloe Vera stuff and all the ‘marketing’ she does is so fake, I would never buy anything from them after seeing all the lies and it makes me scrutinise everything else I see online as well.

I’m home now but I feel incredibly tired and achy, I didn’t sleep well last night at all with the rain thundering on our caravan roof, and I’ve not eaten well today. Oh well.

I’ve done a shopping list and menu for the week and will get that tomorrow. I’ve used the chubby cubs book to plan my evening meals and, when I can be bothered to get up, I’m going to prep a big rice salad to have for a few days lunches.

poorpaws · 25/09/2023 07:53

Good morning everyone

@thenewaveragebear1983 That photograph is stunning, it makes me want to run away from home and see it first hand.

Well my lovelies today is the day! We've gathered the troops, 9 of us, and our wagon is about to roll on for 7 rough weeks. We'll hit a lot of bumps on the road no doubt but we'll all grab and save anyone about to fall off.

I'm starting off at10 st 9 lbs, which is already a low for me, so it's definitely going to be a tough one. Good luck everyone, do your very best and just imagine how you'll look and feel 7 lbs lighter.

Gather together 7/7ers, Wagons Roll and we're off ....

Tessisme · 25/09/2023 08:24

Morning, ready to start the 7 week challenge here - well I'm full of enthusiasm if that counts as ready.

I weighed myself this morning and am 11st 3lb. Even dropping below that elusive 11st mark would be a massive confidence boost for me.

I want to start running again, but think if I go at this all guns blazing I'll feel a bit overwhelmed, so walking it is.

Zebracat · 25/09/2023 09:57

I’m here. No scales but I estimate my weight at 96.3, last weeks weight. I’m on holiday so it is difficult, but I’m trying. Lots of walking at least.

Sedgwick · 25/09/2023 10:30

Ready here too. I’ve lost 11 lbs in 3 weeks but it’s slowing down now. 10st 5.5 lbs this morning. My lowest weight in 3 years. Feeling determined. My face is looking better without the wine and it’s lovely not waking up in the early hours with anxiety.

triplecheeese · 25/09/2023 13:27

Wow wow wow @thenewaveragebear1983 you're making me daydream about adventures. Stunning!

Funny influencer chat, I also have a friend who flogs various "supplements". It's really weird because her before and after pics look exactly the same except for the photoshop. Such odd behaviour.

Went for a run this morning, enjoying the last of the sunshine. I already feel brighter mentally for exercising the past few days.

non-scale goal: I bought a GORGEOUS size 10 skirt which is only good as a knee warmer at present.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/09/2023 13:36

@poorpaws @triplecheeese oh I definitely have the wanderlust now, I’m already planning my next one!

Definitely on plan today, yesterday all went awry because I was so exhausted when I got home. Today I fasted til lunch then I just had a w/m pitta stuffed with scrambled egg, cheese and beans. Tonight’s dinner is an Italian prawny type thing with feta cheese in that is from the chubby cubs book, I will have with veg and dh will have with pasta. Looks yummy. I’m trying to keep my Syns very low this week to compensate for my excesses this weekend. That is one good thing for SW, you can exist on free food quite happily and it helps me not to write the whole week off. I’ve got a chicken to roast and then I’ll strip the meat off to make lunches/snacks, I’m going to do some coronation chicken with EL mayo and curry powder, and I’ve pre baked some potatoes so I can just warm one up for lunch tomorrow.

Sedgwick · 25/09/2023 16:11

@recklessgran how are you doing? Are you getting on with Fast800 ok?

poorpaws · 25/09/2023 16:26

Yes @recklessgran where are you? I hope you're ok.

It's been a rotten Day 1 for me. Our supermarket can't be more than 2 miles drive (at most) from home and it took us between 50-60 mins due to roadworks. This put me in the wrong mood for shopping so I didn't get my full shop. Later dog walk than normal and met several people who wanted to chat, so slowed us down again. Got home for lunch at nearly 3pm. Made some parsnip soup and my day has gone. No exercises done and I'm shattered.

I hope everyone else has had a good Day 1, at least better than mine.

Jacket potato with less fat cottage cheese and reduced fat coleslaw, Aberdeen Angus beef burger (lower calories due to 95% beef so not a lot of other calorific ingredients) and a huge salad for dinner.

I just want an idle evening but feel guilty I haven't done any exercises.

recklessgran · 25/09/2023 16:28

Hi all. Well done @Sedgwick I'm doing O.K. too so far thanks. I've lost 5.5lbs this week so gone down from 15st dead to 14st 8.5lbs. I have stuck religiously to under or round about the 800 calories all week despite 2 or 3 social events. I have allowed myself a mini bag of maltesers evey night by way of a reward for staying on the wagon and away from the bread bin but I know they're a "waste" of calories nutrient wise so they're going to have to be phased out. I also know that most of the weight loss will be water due to the lowish carbs so I won't get ahead of myself. I'd like to get into ketosis eventually so to do that I'd need to vitually wipe out carbs altogether. I'm thinking about that as it's a much more restrictive [and more expensive] diet I find. I'm just going to take one day at a time for now. I've measured my waist and it's still 41 inches so, yeah a massive bread baby to get rid of!

recklessgran · 25/09/2023 16:36

@poorpaws I'm sorry about your shit day - no exercise going on here either but I am keeping my steps around 4k a day which is 10 times more than I was managing sitting at my desk all day. Just being mindful really - walking up and down when chatting on the phone - usually to one or other of the DD's of which we have 5 so it's not hard to spend HOURS chatting to them! I used to sit with my feet up [lazy gran style] but now I take the opportunity to walk around the house and even up and down the stairs. Baby steps right?

Tessisme · 25/09/2023 18:37

My Fitbit decided to stop working/charging today. I only bought it in July. It probably died of boredom. But I'm so annoyed at the timing. I have tried all online suggestions to no avail. Will be on to Fitbit tomorrow to complain. Grrr.

I am on the grumpy bench with you @poorpaws😆

Sedgwick · 25/09/2023 20:08

@recklessgran that’s a great start. I do the snack reward thing after dinner too, it was 2 bags of Quavers, then one bag and now it’s a mock tail or two (AF Gordon’s gin and low cal tonic with fresh lemon) at 15 kc a pop.

recklessgran · 25/09/2023 20:17

I love that @Sedgwick in my case the maltesers will have to be replaced with a pot of sugar free jelly at 6 calories.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/09/2023 22:09

Day one of the 7 week challenge has been very good. My dinner was really nice, a prawn tomato based Italian sauce with a small amount of pasta and loads of veg.
Sorry to hear that others haven’t had a good day- just a false start, try again tomorrow 💐

TalkToTheHand123 · 26/09/2023 17:00

Hi all. I'm not setting any targets for losses, just trying to make sure I don't gain and try making better habits.

I cut out mayo a few weeks ago. Trying to cut out burgers and sausages at the moment as well as high carb snacks. I'm back on my soup. I'm thinking of soup and tubs of veg to get me through 12 hour shifts. A couple of bananas and oranges top me up usually.

Back to gym as swimming times reduced at the local leisure centre.

gluttonousgoldbug · 26/09/2023 18:30

Living up to my name already. Made spaghetti bolognese in the slow cooker for yesterdays tea. The leftovers was assembled into lasagne afterwards so we have all just feasted on cheesy meaty goodness. So my belly is thankful but my waistline not so much...

I need some low calorie easy tasty recipes that aren't soup or salad that the kids and DH will also eat. I fear it may be an impossible challenge.

poorpaws · 26/09/2023 19:55

Hi everyone

I've had an ok day food-wise and I've done over 12,000 steps but no exercises again. I've had visitors so no time to do them earlier and I'm too tired this evening. I will try again tomorrow.

I can't really complain at how my first two days have gone but hope to do better still as the time goes on.

@TalkToTheHand123 I'm back on the soup too. I made five days worth yesterday and I think I'll being having soup most lunchtimes until spring. My problem is I don't like many flavours of soup so it gets a little monotonous.

Keep doing your best everyone.

Today was looking very virtuous until I remembered Bake Off and now it'll be looking moderately virtuous as there's no way I can watch without a bit of cake.

triplecheeese · 26/09/2023 21:11

same @gluttonousgoldbug! always on the hunt for healthy family meals so I only have to cook once. When I can be bothered I do a lot of DIY fajitas and tacos for the table because everyone can build their own. Other than that it's mainly meals I can hide veg in so the kids get some form of fibre.

alarm set for 5:45am for workout... wish me luck!

Zebracat · 26/09/2023 22:20

Bad bad day.pie and mash, Welshcakes, lemon tart, and lots and lots of toast. Start again tomorrow.
