Morning all!

Thought I'd start a new thread as I find the really long ones off-putting! Hope that's OK.

Well haven't posted much over the weekend. Drank too much wine on Friday and Saturday and ate lots I shouldn't. Went out for brunch yesterday but didn't do too badly. A few glasses of champagne, some sushi, a noodle salad thing, some couscous and salmon and prawns and some lamb chops with a small amount of mashed potatoes. Dessert was a small serving of creme brulee. Then only had a slice of toast in the evening.

And..........drum roll..................

I have lost 2 lbs!

So list is as follows:

Danceswithamuffintop
Buda - lost 2 lbs
MMJ
Sheherazdethegoat
Twiglett
Beansprout
AnnieMac
Pira teCat
JingleyJen
Keepcalmandcarryon
AnAngelwithin
HuffPuff
Niecie
SparklyPrincess
Wisp
Dosyd ot
BellaBelly
Sagacious
Knat
Yeahbut

Hope you all did well.

I agree Niecie. I know my friend's SIL is much more depressed now about her weight as it was hard to lose it and it will be harder to lose it again.

oats are not agreeing with me today. blimey, where's the oust!!!

i was rubbish yesterday, ended up getting home late with dd, and we stopped off for chips.

ah well, being extra careful today.

but I love oats, they do not seem to like me!!

beansprout · 13/03/2008 17:39

Tis true that there are no easy options to this lark. Yoyo dieting has long been established as just leading to long term weight gain anyway and of course, that's pretty depressing. Part of me just wants to go for the radical option but I just know it doesn't work.

Have made a chickpea casserole for dinner which we will have with some brown rice. And then an extremely chocolately biscuit to follow!!

sagacious · 13/03/2008 17:52

Chickpea casserole sounds VERY virtuous !

I WISH there was a magic wand (I am finding being "good" somewhat tedious)
Is lighter life meal replacements ? I have to eat proper food or I'll fall over!

Been good today, cereal for brekkie. beetroot and reduced calorie salad cream sandwich for lunch (I am addicted to pickled stuff)
Steak and salad for dinner, had horesradish sauce and low fat mayo with it (I have to have sauce with EVERYTHING)

I am now sadly craving a glass of red wine... will have a cup of tea, if I open a bottle now I KNOW I'll have finished it by bedtime (and have a hangover and be very pissed off in the morning)

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 13/03/2008 18:27

OH I'm so glad this thread is live and kicking, it dropped off my threads I'm on and I was thinking it had ground to a halt! Had a rubbish day yesterday (huge biscuit scoffing session when I got home) but I have been highly virtuous today (cereal for breakfast, homemade tomato soup for lunch, sausage casserole (made with low fat sausages) for tea with brown rice. Have made a molly cake this afternoon as a treat (no fat or eggs in it) so I'll let you know how it tastes - it's in the oven now!

bellabelly · 14/03/2008 09:07

Sat up wth DH drinking whisky and being daft last night - fun at the time but now I am curng myself for the extra calories (and the slight hangover...) BUT the scales have one down a little ths morning having refused to budge so far this week so am feeling more positive! Should have done what sagacious did and had a cup of tea instead!

Nice to see you back Dances - was wondering where you'd gone!

Hey Dances and tmmj! glad to see you back.

It's just a blip. We can do it. I haven't bee great on the food front - far too much bread and rubbish. And a bottle of wine last night plus crisp plus cheese. And Malteasers.

And yes please tmmj - planning pizza for tonight! Prob no wine though as DH is out.

Just try and get it back into your mind somehow. You don't have to be perfect over the weekend but try and drink lots of water. Then Monday is a whole new beginning.

Niecie · 14/03/2008 10:08

No thanks to the Pizza - already had some.

Never mind - don't give up!

Pick yourself up, dust yourself down and start again. We can do this.......

We can, can't we?

Not doing so well myself but am trying to think of it as a blip rather than the end.

sagacious · 14/03/2008 10:11

I had a glass and a half of red wine last night.. well its nearly the weekend

Had a bit of a hangover this morning What a bloody lightweight !

Am very about the whiskey/pizza

Today is another day course we can do it niecie !

bellabelly · 14/03/2008 10:27

Course we can do it - blips are to be expected, we are only human! But we are collectively 54.5lbs less than we were not even fully 3 weeks ago - 3and a half stones less!!! That's almost half a (very skinny) person. We are all brilliant, yay for us!!! Now pass that pizza over here...

Niecie · 14/03/2008 12:31

Yes but I have only just started and my blips are bigger than the good bits!

And I know that the blips vary in relation to the size of my butt - the bigger the blip, the bigger my butt!

I say all this as somebody who has shared half a teacake with DS2 to keep us going until lunchtime.

Niecie · 14/03/2008 12:33

Sorry, none of that was very positive, was it?

Of course we can do it we have already lost the weight of a 4/5 year old.

Maybe by next week we can have lost a 6 or 7 year old and I have trouble picking one of those up so that must be a lot!

keepcalmandcarryon · 14/03/2008 21:40

some tough posts today, we are all going through it a bit I think. Can I make a positive comment without being hung drawn and quartered?

I've really appreciated being on this thread: it's really helped. I've not lost much weight, maybe four pounds, but enough that my too-tight jeans now fit. A small victory but better than the alternative.

I know I rely on food for emotional reasons, and am trying really hard not to. Also trying to be more organised about family shopping and mealtimes so its not always an emotive battle so I pass my own issues on to my kids. When in the grip of a 'must eat, must eat...' mindset recently it crossed my mind how saddened I would be if I saw my DD in the grip of that compulsion.

So shouldn't I treat myself with as much respect as I would wish her to treat herself?

Sorry to go on so much, but writing this has helped me clarify some thoughts.

And I hereby promise not to post self-indulgent bollocks for at least another 24 hours.

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 14/03/2008 23:04

I've got my period my skin has gone to pot and I'm REALLLLLLLLY HUNGRY . I have the Mirena Coil fitted so this is the first proper period I've had for about 4 months if not longer and it's hitting me like a ton of bricks. GAH. Held it together on the diet front until about 4pm and then ate loads of biccies. If someone could gag me from about 4 pm until dinner time I'd be a stone lighter in a week or two. Any tips on how to avoid the dieting equivilant of the witching hour? Actually even with the biscuits I'm still eating less than I have done for a while so that's a positive.

KCACC - Oh! Your remarks about you and your dd and the way you behave with food is WAY to close to the mark It's made me think too but then again beating myself up about the effect I might be having on dd is only going to make me reach for the comfort food even more ....

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 16/03/2008 18:12

Blimey, where is everyone? All still fighting about St Caitlin's article?
How has everyone's weekend been? I weighed myself this morning and I'd put on 1 1/2lb!! I'm hoping it was a blip I'll report in tomorrow....

piratecat · 16/03/2008 19:13

hi dances, I am still here. You have only put on cos of period, worst time to weigh isn't it?

Hang fire till 2morro!!!

I havent been as good this week, in the actual eating more veg and stuff, but I will be surprised if i have lost owt.

keepcalmandcarryon · 16/03/2008 20:14

still here dances: (albeit on the wrong side of several roast potatoes and quite a lot of wine at lunchtime)

My, the fur IS flying, isn't it?

DANCESwithaMuffinTop · 16/03/2008 20:56

Oh I'm so glad to see (metaphorically) you! I was beginning to feel like I was the only one on this 'support' thread I've had a pretty rubbish week altogether coupled with my period arriving and my skin going to hell. I really DO NOT want to get on the scales on Monday

keepcalmandcarryon · 16/03/2008 23:28

dances - sorry you've had a bad week, and that your body/hormones/skin are ganging up on you.

I know what you mean about the scales tomorrow - this has been me this week end .

beansprout · 17/03/2008 08:36

Just weighed myself and the scales are telling me that I have gained 2lbs although I really don't see how that has happened as I thought I had a good week!

Am feeling v despondent. I can't really eat any less as am b/feeding and have to be careful. Rats.
