Morning all!

Thought I'd start a new thread as I find the really long ones off-putting! Hope that's OK.

Well haven't posted much over the weekend. Drank too much wine on Friday and Saturday and ate lots I shouldn't. Went out for brunch yesterday but didn't do too badly. A few glasses of champagne, some sushi, a noodle salad thing, some couscous and salmon and prawns and some lamb chops with a small amount of mashed potatoes. Dessert was a small serving of creme brulee. Then only had a slice of toast in the evening.

And..........drum roll..................

I have lost 2 lbs!

So list is as follows:

Danceswithamuffintop
Buda - lost 2 lbs
MMJ
Sheherazdethegoat
Twiglett
Beansprout
AnnieMac
Pira teCat
JingleyJen
Keepcalmandcarryon
AnAngelwithin
HuffPuff
Niecie
SparklyPrincess
Wisp
Dosyd ot
BellaBelly
Sagacious
Knat
Yeahbut

Hope you all did well.

Well, considering I had a bad week in terms of doing anything remotely like exercise due to the whole family having horrible colds, and the fact that I have only cut back so far, rather than making radical changes to what I stuff in my mouth, I seem to have lost a pound.

Whether that is a real pound or a normal fluctuation, I am not sure, but damn it, I'm taking the credit.

We shall have to see if it is joined by any others this week.

Sadly, not a day for a brisk walk outside though, is it. Tipping it down here at the moment! Perhaps I will go and do some energetic hoovering instead.

Congratulations to everybody else for doing so well.

yep, keep going. I read about one mum on another thread who has cut down over the yrs and lost 62lbs, going from a size 22 to 12 (i think).

She said she didn't really deny herslef anything completely, and had some months (yes months) where she plateau'd.

Yet altho this seemed like not alot, the weight has kept coming off over time, i suppose I am tryingto think of it as, wel I could be unhappy or unhappier with my weight form now on or I could stop it all by cutting down.

I will try to find her thread.

bellabelly · 10/03/2008 11:54

mmj - have you weighed yourself again since first thing this morning? Your weight will go up through the day, cos you are eating and drinking stuff so I would count your first weigh-in rather than a later one, iyswim....

ok 2 lbs this week which is ok as had extremely bad day on Friday but was pleased i carried on ok at weekend - usually i would signal that as an excuse to keep eating until Monday when i would start again - so am quite pleased with that. DD hopefully back at preschool tomorrow so hope to get some exercise done this week andhopefully this will boost me again. Well done keepcalm thats great.

I do think measurements are sometimes better than weight. Havent done it myself but might once start exercising.

YeahBut · 10/03/2008 15:08

Everyone is doing so well!

beansprout · 10/03/2008 19:23

Piratecat - that's the approach I am trying to take. I am b/feeding a 6 week old so can't crash diet anyway.

Having the same stuff each day takes a lot of the decision making out of things for me so I am not wandering around the house wondering what to eat. Dull, but true!

Buda · 11/03/2008 09:25

Well as you may or may not have noticed I went a bit quiet over the weekend! After my 2 days (Thurs and Fri) of period hell, the weekend was not good either! We were out on Saturday night at a gala dinner. Food wasn't great but drank a LOT. That led to Sunday's feed the hangover all day binge.

Weighed yesterday and had gained back my 2lbs (sob) but weighed this morning and it is gone again!

So I thing I stayed the same this week.

Was pretty good yesterday. Had one bacardi and DC before dinner - no other alcohol as I deliberately haven't bought any!

OP posts:
piratecat · 11/03/2008 09:29

ah i gues when you weighed yesterday it was prob blaot/water retention.

Its great that you are back to normal, and didn't put any on thru the period, the binge etc!!!

Hope you feel better today?

Buda · 11/03/2008 09:46

Think you are right piratecat. Glad I didn't put anything back on permanently!

Feeling better although I was supposed to go to gym but am shattered.

Started on multivits today to try to boost my energy levels.

OP posts:
sagacious · 11/03/2008 17:18

I think my stomach may have shrunk
I am not hungry, yesterday I couldn't finish my dinner (unheard of!)
Scales are still saying I've lost total of two pounds, but my size 16 jeans are too big and my 14's now fit perfectly.

I am baffled but very

piratecat · 11/03/2008 18:34

brilliant!!

i long for my 16's too be too big. I refuse to buy new jeans even tho i have only two pairs, which get alternated!!

I have 3 pairs in the wardobe I canot fit into!!

My waist def feels smaller, and I know how you feel about being full up.

Buda · 12/03/2008 05:58

Well done sagacious! at size 16 even! Am a 22ish. Although if i got rid of my stomach I would be a size smaller! Am a def apple and carry a lot of weight around stomach!

OP posts:
sagacious · 12/03/2008 07:20

Ta muchly ! (I have a whole alternate wardrobe in sizes 12/14/16 !)
Well today is another day, going out for coffee and soft play (for dc's NOT ME) with a friend, so its avoid the muffin time

Will have my usual bowl of cereal before I go out.

Have a good day all !

bellabelly · 12/03/2008 10:42

Aaarrgghh, have caved in both Monday and Tuesday and had alcohol which I SWORE I would not do till Friday night. But I did do lots of walking yesterday and will do lots today so am hoping that might cancel out the booze... Am feeling a bit de-motivated but am sticking with it - gonna think of this week as a "blip" and not be surprised if I don't lose anything!!!

Well done to everyone for sticking at it through week 3!!!

sagacious · 12/03/2008 17:30

Muffin avoided
Bella alcohol is my undoing as well, one glass of wine and I get the munchies and turn into Mr Creosote

Its just a blip (repeat x 1000)

Buda · 13/03/2008 08:06

Well I may not be doing too well on the exercise and food front (had a packet of crisps and a mini swiss roll yesterday!) but I have massively cut down on alcohol. Had a bacardi and DC on Monday evening. Nothing on Tuesday. Had one gin & tonic yesterday (not slimline though - can't get it here).

Trying to keep to low GI foods as much as poss - except for crisps and mini roll obv!

beansprout · 13/03/2008 09:12

Dusted off the dreaded post natal exercise vid this morning. Not sure how long it will last though, I am not a lover of that kind of exercise. Needs must though if I am to do anything about dough belly here.

Niecie · 13/03/2008 11:20

Not having a good week here. Been very busy and so not making much effort on the cooking front or getting the chance to do proper exercise.

Things should be a bit calm after today though so I shall have to make a bit more effort.

As a matter of interest has anybody ever done Lighter Life or know anybody who has done it? It sounds a bit different and seems to get good results but I don't know anybody who has done it. I just wondered if it was hard, both in terms of diet and also the counselling bit you are supposed to get with it. I am pretty sure it is hell but is it worth it?!

Buda · 13/03/2008 11:58

A friend's SIL did it Niecie. Lost loads of weight apparently. Now very depressed as she has put it all back on again.

OP posts:
keepcalmandcarryon · 13/03/2008 13:24

thanks bellabelly and piratecat for your congratulations! However the apparent weight loss was my scales or my fluctuating water levels, or something, as weighed myself again on Tues and Weds and on both days had lost not five and a half pounds, but had lost one and a half pounds - which is much more believable.

Had a very jolly weekend away with friends - ate fairly sensibly of extremely delicious food. Roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes - kept to one Yorkshire and two small roast pots, when could quite happily have devoured at least twice as much [resigned to being a food Dyson emoticon]

On the good side took DD for her swimming lesson today - they close off one end of the pool for the kids and you can swim in the other end - or you can sit on the side and read the newspaper without anyone saying "mummy, mummy, mummy...." I have been meaning to swim lengths while she has her lesson since she started in july last year. FINALLY did so today, and swam 20 (albeit slightly shortened) lengths. Feeling pleased with self tho slightly achy!

Niecie · 13/03/2008 13:29

Thats what I was frightened of Buda. The website said you could expect to lose 3 stone in about 14 weeks. Seemed rather quick to be a permanent loss - they do it by substitute meals I think.

It would be lovely to have a 'miracle' cure to weight loss - the hard bit is the fact that you don't get instant results and 3 stone in 14 weeks is pretty good going - but there is no such thing as miracles in this case, are there?

Can you imagine splashing out on a lovely new wardrobe and then finding 6 months down the line it no longer fits? Worse than being fat and not doing anything about it, I would have thought.
