andyrobo237 · 02/03/2008 20:26

I have 'lemon' as the latest password - direct from consultatnt by email earlier this evening!

I need a 'kick up the ar@@@e' - slacking at the moment - not even sure why, but been off track for two weeks, prob gained a pound or so - so close yet so far from my Club 10 and 1.5 stones!! I need to plan a bit better - got off track with a course and two kids birthdays!

Will attend class tomorrow for a weigh in and quick chat with consultant - cant stay to class but need to go!!

sugarlumps · 02/03/2008 20:35

Its monday and the start of a new week everybody!

Christie - I can't remember if you said you go to class or not? My mum was struggling like you, and her consultant had her doing an SAS log. Following on from nappyaddict's post, the SAS log is basically trying to work out where you're going wrong and why - so why don't you follow nappy addicts advice including writing down everything that passes your lips, and taking nothing for granted (e.g. one of my old consultants found out by a chance conversation she was having 30 odd syns a day and not counting them by having white coffees out of a machine at work)but maybe also ask yourself and write down the answers to questions like...

Did I plan my food for the day & week and stick to it?
What was my mood today? Did I eat because I was tired/bored/upset etc?
Did I weigh my Healthy Extras?
Did I eat something because it was there? (e.g. when making the kids/DH's dinners?)
Did I chose my syns and really enjoy them or eat them out of habit?

... etc add anything else you can think of. they're not the actual questions on the SAS sheet but along that vein.

Lots of lovely inspiring posts over the weekend, thank you everyone! Can anyone tell me of free or low syn cous cous packets, e.g. ainsley's ones? I think I might start eating cous cous again.

I had a sympathy chocolate binge with friend on Saturday night had a weird eating weekend, really don't know if/how much weight I will have lost by tomorrow night, as had really good few days then acted really silly, eating a massive bacon and sausage baguette, then skipping lunch and having a super speed dinner, then the chocolate binge (which was after the wine binge...) BUT I have exercised like you wouldn't believe, total of 8 hrs horse riding plus a fitness class and a game of squash, so totally not slimming world but overall I really hope calorie intake is less than outgoing. Dreading tonight, need to be back on track but friend is coming to stay and wants to get a take-away. Aaagh!

Riallymusttryharder · 03/03/2008 14:59

Hi. Please may I come back? Someof you may remember me from MANY different attempts, with varying Ria-names.

I am now seriously needing to take action - tomorrow, when the left-over goodies from the weekend have gone.

DH also has decided he needs to make an effort too, as he only has two pairs of trousers that fit . He is going to read my stock-pile of magazines and the handbook etc. and we WILL do it TOGETHER.

So, I have now stopped breastfeeding, I have started exercising (walking and "Callanetics" - anyone else tried them?), and although I won't have achieved my goal of being thinner for my 30th (in 2 1/2 weeks), I will have started (three months too late).

New name, new Ria

I will read back through the thread when I have more time.

Riallymusttryharder · 03/03/2008 15:02

Oh, I forgot. I have just emptied the evil deep fat fryer and cleaned it, ready to store it at the back of the most awkward cupboard in the kitchen (can't throw it away as DH uses it at work sometimes).

Fizzylemonade · 03/03/2008 19:56

I lost another 1lb so am now at PAT!!! Come on girls you can do it, and I never gave up chocolate!!!

An Asda Puffin bar (the penguin rip off) is 6 1/2 syns, a Penguin is 7 according to the book I have been given. Kit kats, jaffa cakes, mmmm delicious.

Sugarlumps my boobs are just empty, like when you finish breastfeeding and you lose all the substance in them. Might try the boob cream anyway, DH would like to rub that in

Also the cheese question - I asked my consultant as I don't like any of the HEa's and I asked if I could substitute Philadelphia and was told no that it was based on calcium content so I usually just have milk as my HEa and calculate any philly as syns.

I would like to say that I have loved SW and I will still attend meetings to keep at this weight now. Good luck to everyone. I shall keep posting.

sugarlumps · 04/03/2008 08:25

well done fizzy on reaching your pat!!!!!!!!

i've did a bit of research yesterday and have decidee to stay of the booze for a bit,
i normally go out with the girls every other saturday, and the weeks i do go out i only lose 1/5 - 1 lb, the weeks i dont go out i lose 2- 4 lb.
i would really like to get to my target before easter, 9lb ish to go, so thats me off booze and not going out clubbing until then!

i've got to have a couple of days being really focused now before weigh in in thur to see if i can shift any extra of this weekends booze weight lol
i'd best go and get laddo to nursery!

Riallymusttryharder · 04/03/2008 10:03

well done fizzy. Can I ask how long it took you to get to PAT?

I have around 5 stone to lose (that will put me at the top end of my ideal range, but I think I'll be better there than at the bottom end as I haven't weighed that little since I was about 14!), i Know you're supposed to take half a stone at a time or whatever, but if there's anyone about who is about the same as me or has succeeded, how do you cope with keeping focussed?

Another question, anyone any idea of the syns values of a Tesco light choices hot cross bun and Horlicks extra light sachet? (For DH. we are cutting down on the booze too)

SWlurker · 04/03/2008 10:39

New resolution for Lurker.

*I must stop drinking pints. I don't enjoy them as much as a tia maria and diet coke and it is a massive waste of syns. Plus its not very girly.

*A bacon butty from a greasy spoon is NOT equivilant to a HEb on red, even if the fat is burnt. Cheating doesn't work.

*I must start taking my own advice!!

I made the SW mayonaise yesterday - thought it was quite a nice dressing but didn't think it tasted anything like mayo - anyone else find that?

sigh I came away from class so motivated last week and I've been really silly eating-wise this week. What the flipping heck is it going to take for me to take this seriously?!

checks diary for this week... well at least I don't think there's anything out of the ordinary coming up to ruin it this week. I WILL be under the next stone barrier soon! I WILL!!

kid · 04/03/2008 19:16

I have made the decision to stop weighing myself. I haven't weighed myself for what seems like ages now. Its probably only been a week or two but I have managed to break the cycle of keep weighing myself at all different times of the day.

I haven't been sticking to it 100%, yesterday was a bit better but I reckon I reached 15 syns if not a little more.

So far today, I have had 6 syns so will have space for my curly wurly. Oh, just realised I ate the last one last night I will have to raid the celebrations instead. Can only have maximum of 4, hardly seems worth it!

andyrobo237 · 04/03/2008 19:59

SWlurker - can you gove me a kick up the posterier as well - we must be twins! I have managed to keep off the 1 stone 4 pounds I have lost since June last year - want to lose another 2 stone minimum then decide what weight I would like to be - but it is sooooo hard - it will take me until 2010 at this rate! I turn forty next July so would like to reach a target by then!

I have ditched the classes - it has cost me £10 to lose each pound! Quite expensive when you look at it that way! I will still weigh myself weekly (well every other day probably as it keeps me in check!) = I am lighter than 3 years ago, but still some way off other goals such as 6 years ago after DD was born, etc!

My main aim is not either lose or maintain each month - even losing 2lb a month would still be 24lbs over ayear - over 1.5 stones! Hopefully it will stay off better this way!

nikkid21 · 04/03/2008 21:42

Am feeling very pleased with myself as I weighed in today and lost 5lb I didn't think that I would ever crack this plateau - I've only lost 2lb in the whole of February.

I've not eaten anything different this week re He and have still had 10 syns a day. The only difference is that none of my syns were from alcohol and I've been to the gym 5 times instaed of the usual 3.

Only 5 1/2 lb to go for target.

kid · 04/03/2008 22:28

Well done nikkid, any chance of sending some of that energy this way? 5 times at the gym, I can't even manage that in a month!

Riallymusttryharder · 04/03/2008 23:38

well done nikkid.

DH & I have had a b**x day and have been a bit naughty tonight (wine and baguette). How pathetic are we that we can't even manage after lunch til bedtime

Tomorrow is a new day. There's still a massive bowl of fruit salad in the fridge, and I think we might have our lunchtime omelette for breakfast, followed by the fruit salad (usual b/fast) instead of having lunch.

Fingers crossed...

sugarlumps · 05/03/2008 07:45

RIA - Tesco hot cross buns are 9 syns each i just had a look on the website but it says the healthy living ones not light choices. think its the same thing its just been rebranded as that.

was a bit naughty last night was feeling sorry for myself because im skint so i munched my way through 2 slices of weight watchers toast 2 curly wurlys and a bag of hula hoops. totally not worth it as it didnt make me feel any better! i've done myself some carrot sticks and dip for tv picking tonight! dont think im going to get a loss this week which is a shame as i only have 3lbs to go til i i get to 11 stone

must be more focused over the next week or im going to have zilch chance of being at or just above target for easter.

im going to try a lot more red days this week as i normally ony stick to green.
fingers crossed {clasps hands together and prays to god) lol

OP posts:
SWlurker · 05/03/2008 09:18

Well done nikkid!

Andy we are defo slimming twins! I have been spending £20 a month on (shh - weight watchers) to go and get weighed and leave feelign de-motivated. I was trying to follow SW but ended up doing a hybrid of SW and WW and clearly it wasn't working - since last August I have lost 6lbs

I know it would all go belly up for me if I didn't go to a class, but I have joined a SW class and hopefully got my motivation back. I put on 1/2 lb this week though! I'm annoyed I hadn't lost in my first week back into proper SW classes, but then again I'm also very relieved the damage was limited to 1/2lb, as it has been a mixture of really good and really bad days. Have promised my consultant 2.5lb off this week and am planning on doing a lot of success express this week - last night was quorn bolognaise with 1/3 plate wholewheat spaghetti, and today lunch is the same! If I can just keep my syns to the weekend I will do OK I think. Went to the gym last night and did about 220 calories. Not as much as I would have burned in aerobics that I should have gone to, but I figured it did make up for the extra Hifi bar I had by accident yesterday! Did fat burn programs on the machines, and found it really hard to keep my heart rate down - does that mean I'm really unfit? I find it a lot easier to go faster and do aerobic exercise, and I have been doing aerobics or squash 3+ times a week for months now, so surely it can't be because I'm unfit? Can't wait to lose weight though, I know exercise will be so much easier then!

Ria, try to make sure you don't have long spells in the day without food by going without lunch or brekkie. One, it will make you eat more when you do eat later on out of starvation, and two, your metabolism slows down. Slimming world is all about eating not starving!

Sorry for lung post x

SWlurker · 05/03/2008 09:21
  • and sorry for rubbish spelling - LONG not lung post!
Riallymusttryharder · 05/03/2008 09:46

thanks for that lurker and sugarlumps. I'm a bit at the hot cross buns because I think they're disgusting so that should almost make them free. Would have been a better choice than the wine and baguette though (but it was good)

This is a bit pathetic but I am feeling proud of myself because I have not let this morning descend into a full-on bacon butty binge (which would obviously lead to the rest of the day and then the week.)
I had a big banana when I was getting the kids ready, and am cooking potato cubes to have with egg and beans as we speak. DH has gone out unexpectedly, so that's the omelette off until lunch (I can't cook!)

Here's to a good day.

SWlurker · 05/03/2008 10:24

Well done you, not pathetic at all in my book, small steps will get you there in the end! I'm proud of myself today because I am organised enough to have brought not only lunch but loads of free snacks to work too. So far I have eaten an alpen bar, a shape lasting satisfaction yoghurt and two bananas, and I've got a mug shot for this afternoon if I get peckish again. Off to eat my second alpen bar now!

missiesparkles · 05/03/2008 10:29

due to being a piggy bit depressed, I let the diet go for a month and managed to pile on 5lbs... but I took stock of things and shifted 5.5lbs in a week and am now back on track... I'm STILL 4.5lbs from my elusive 2st award (and have been for the last 2 months ARGH!!) and 5lbs from my club10... but I'm back on track now + I hope to get to at least one of those targets in the next 2/3 weeks

hope everyone else is doing ok this week x

SWlurker · 05/03/2008 13:47

Day 2 of the imaginary big brother style Lurker diary, and a colleague has just brought in two boxes of chocolates, dum dum duuuuum! but its ok, lurker had ONE rose (about 3 syns is it?) and then attacked her chocolatey hifi bar instead of going back and is now feeling satisfied polishing her new halo

blimey I'm eating for England today, am about to go and attack the free yoghurts again...

Riallymusttryharder · 05/03/2008 13:52

well done lurker, I wouldn't have been able to resist.

My breakfast was the most delicious meal ever, and I could have sat down to it again as soon as I'd finished. Have had loads of water instead. Pasta 'n' sauce with extra sweetcorn for lunch, and fruit salad. If I get past tea time (chicken stir fry & rice/noodles) I might indulge in a little halo polishing too.

Just off to plan our syns as lovely DH has brought home some wine that "fell" into his trolley in tesco...

SWlurker · 05/03/2008 14:23

Ahhh but Ria, its WHEN not if!!!! think positive!

How many bananas ahem - "bungs" you up? I might have had half a bunch today
