Hi Bouncingturtle!

Happy Birthday Riaaa!

Yes noodle mug shots and the tomato pasta one is free, others are I think about 2 syns or so.

Veg boxes - in all honesty I overfaced myself with mine - I bought a £15 one and got 15 types of veg - too much for me by myself, it always did longer than a week, but some things don't keep well because no chemicals to keep them fresh. I'm still in 2 minds about them, on the one hand you get it delivered regularly so you feel the need to eat up all the veg, on the other you end up with some WEIRD concoctions to use the weird veg! So I'm going to try the odd one but mainly getting more veg from the supermarket or greengrocer.

toadette · 19/03/2008 11:36

Thanks, just tried the chicken noodle one but didn't really like it, maybe look out for tomato one instead next time. Soup is ready so had a bowl of it for mid-morning snack instead. Lunch is loads of grapes and packet of ryvita minis as a HEb (the thai sweet chilli ones, they are delish).

Going to do quick blast of housework at superspeed before I pick up ds2 from playgroup - hoping this will do as my 30 mins exercise today if I really go for it!

Bouncingturtle · 19/03/2008 11:56

Have had a pack of oatso simple and a couple of slices of toast for brekkie, and a cup of tea with the rest of the milk from the HeA I used to make the porridge.
Going to have jacket potatoes with a tin of spaghetti and a HeA of cheddar for my lunch followed by some summer fruits with fromage frais. Thinking of taking ds out in the pushchair to get out and have a walk.
I don't like any of the mugshots, though have only tried the noodle ones. Not tried the pasta one.

justplainoldRia · 19/03/2008 12:44

thanks.

SWlurker · 19/03/2008 13:23

So far today I have had 3 glasses of water been out for a walk at lunch and had 1/2 a melon towards my fruit and veg box challenge. Not too bad. Might go gym tonight to make up for not walking at lunchtime.

...oh, and the fairy cakes for a colleague's birthday are eyeballing me...

toadette · 19/03/2008 13:28

Lurker, do not give in to them, one is NEVER enough

nikkid21 · 19/03/2008 14:42

Happy birthday ria My veg box lasts me a full week for 2 adults and 2 kids. I tend to get a small for £9.95 and add an extra bad of potatoes or a medium for around £12.95. I like the convenience of getting it delivered plus you can get things like bags of beetroot to roast - which I rarely see in the supermarket. I've been getting the boxes since November time and they really have increased the amount and variety of veg that we eat. The kids even eat red cabbage now as I sold it as girly pink / gory blood cabbage to them

So far today i've had 3 slice of ham, two boiled eggs and a heb of bread. Tonight i'm going to have chicken breast wrapped in bacon with a side serving of cauliflower and leek cheese bake made with a hea and heb of milk & cheese. Plus I have a whole pineapple to nibble on through the day.

Ran for 35 mins at the gym today (did 5k) and then half an hour of weights and sit ups.

SWlurker · 19/03/2008 15:58

Nikkid - how do you roast beetroots? And how do you eat them, i.e as a side veg or what?

V curious as they were one of the monster vegetables lurking in the box I never really knew what to do with!

nikkid21 · 19/03/2008 16:09

Beetroot I scrub & top n tail but don't bother peeling. Half them , spray with frylite and put in the oven for 30/40 mins on 180. I tend to roast them up with butternut squash and the smaller carrots at the same time.

Then as they are free you can nibble on them through the day, have as a side with meat on a red day or chop up and add to couscous on a green day.

If your having poo problems it definitley speeds things up but eat too much and your poo is black / red for a few days. Probably tmi but better to know than panic and go to the doctors.

sugarlumps · 20/03/2008 08:34

Well........ co**ed up big style last night! and it showed this morning on the scales 1lb 0N!!!!!!!!!!
i got home from work planned my outfit for the funeral today and when i tried it on it fell off me so i wasnt happy about that, well i was, but you know what i mean, panic set in that i had nothing smart to wear!
so i sat down and had
2 sliced of real toast with real butter
and a whole easter egg
so i cant really be surprised i put a pound on, its quite frustrating though as it took me 2 weeks to lose that pound in the first place and one moment of sillyness to put it back on!
but hey ho, easy on and hopefully easy off!
3lb to go to 11 stone! i'll look at it that way!
onwards and upwards

Is today your normal weighing day?
Are you weighing yourself everyday?
If you are you shouldn't be
TBH I wouldn't expect the naughtiness you had yesterday to show up today.
I can totally understand your frustration, when I got close to my target, it took me weeks to get the last 3-4 lbs off, it was 1/2lb off then 1lb on then 2lb off then another 1/2lb back on.
Seemed like diminishing returns! But you can get there.
Just keep reminding yourself when temptation comes your way.

And your outfit was too big? Woohoo you've dropped a dress size
How much have you lost so far?

SWlurker · 20/03/2008 09:14

Oh don't be silly Sugarlumps, firstly, are you weighing yourself everyday? The sudden intake of fat and sugar could have temporarily thrown your body out of balance, it might be gone by tomorrow, so don't take it as gospel that that's a pound on, and STOP WEIGHING YOURSELF TOO OFTEN Secondly don't let it put you off your focus - one bad evening (and I don't even think thats too bad to be honest) is NOT going to ruin your diet, but letting it snowball out of proportion is! My consultant said last week, somebody rang her in panic because they'd had a whole tub of nutella and an easter egg, and were feeling really P'd off, but they worked out the syns and it was 49, and with what she'd had the rest of the week it worked out to total 71. She got focussed and back on track the rest of the week and had a 1lb loss, rather than giving in and saying stuff it, the week's ruined Small steps! x

My yesterday:
Syns - 12
Veg box challenge - Melon, Cabbage & Chillis
Water - 6 glasses and one coffee
Exercise (ho hum)

Am going to pop home via a farm shop tonight and try to buy a veg box or at least a variety of veg. I think the local farmers market is on this weekend too. I'm going to cook a big pot of soup every day at the weekend to snack on. I can never make soup last longer, its just too easy to pop back to for "one more bowl", but at least its only veg!

Keep going everyone!

justplainoldRia · 20/03/2008 09:35

Morning.
Don't despair sugarlumps, it was only two slices and one easter egg after all, not a whole loaf and half a dozen

I had a wonderful, delicious non-SW dinner last night, though I had masses of roast veg. I only had 1 glass of wine though

Will see how I get on with my goals today.

SWlurker · 20/03/2008 13:41

I ate a whole melon for lunch! Don't want to see another one for a long time...

But how come fruit doesn't fill me up, no matter how much I have?! Does anyone else find that? I had a packet of supernoodles afterwards.

nikkid21 · 20/03/2008 15:46

Just eaten a whole pineapple whilst fiddling around on the computer. It's mindless eating but at least it fruit. Used to be half a pack of ginger nuts

justplainoldRia · 20/03/2008 16:59

maybe because it'a all water?

my mum would probably quote Frankie Howerd

pippypoppypanda · 20/03/2008 19:10

Hi everyone sorry I've been a bit out of touch this week - the perils of bein back at work!!! Welcome Bouncing Turtle!!

I stayed the same this week, was really disappointed with myself but it could have been a gain cos i'd had a bad week!!

Good idea for the themed weeks! I've had butternut squash today so thats a new veg for me - i found it a little bit pumpkiny TBH!!

Well done everyone for their losses x

nikkid21 · 21/03/2008 09:38

Bad night last night - gave in to the pmt cravings. Had 2 hot cross buns with real butter, 2 bags of hula hoops, a mini curlywirly and a glass of wine.
Why do I do this ? Why do I get so close to target (any target) and then sabotage it? I'm a fool and an idiot without any willpower.

Sorry but need to vent as am feeling rather ashamed of myself this morning. Can't even go down the gym to work it off as the chreche isn't open today and dh only went to bed at 9 this morning.

justplainoldRia · 21/03/2008 09:41

brisk pram walk nikkid?

just out it behind you and start again, don't beat yourself up.

Bouncingturtle · 21/03/2008 10:29

Nikki - You need to have a good clear out and get rid of all temptation - I'm the same, I get treats in at time that are ostensibly for DH but invariably get eaten by me
Do you keep a food diary? Maybe you need to go back to first principles and make sure you write everything down that you eat, I find that has helped me in the past.

sugarlumps · 21/03/2008 10:37

morning girls! im a lot calmer today over the egg disaster lol helped by my car breaking down last night (AGAIN) and i had to push (YES PUSH) it nearly a mile UP HILL!!!!!!! I was knackered by the end of it not what i needed after a 13 hour shift and a funeral!

Rant away, sounds like you need to blow off some steam!
On the plus side think of all the calories you must be burning off!

Sparkler · 21/03/2008 11:13

Just thought I'd stick my head in and say hi to you all. I'm still around but not doing very well . Missed weigh in last night as went on a mumsnet meet up. Weigh ins since Christmas have been up and down - a pound on here and a pound off there. I just cannot get myself motivated.

pippypoppypanda · 22/03/2008 14:02

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH BLOODY CHOCOLATE IN MY HOUSE??????

Bouncingturtle · 22/03/2008 14:05

Coz it's Easter

So how is everyone coping with Easter? I have a Milkybar egg, the egg itself is 20.5 syns, and two little bars of Milkybar (3.5 syns) each.
I've been saving my syns up for tomorrow, as I have a Heaven egg to share with DH plus we're having an Easter Egg hunt with dss!
