I thought prawn crackers were something like 2.5 syns for 5.

nikkid21 · 07/03/2008 15:33

Just had a look online but can't see a specific syn for prawn crackers. Group leader said 2 syns each.

Tesco prawn crackers are 10 1/2 syns for a 40g pack but I don't know how many you would get for 40g.

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 15:48

blimey, that's not many prawn crackers for your money.

Hi toadette. I only gatecrashed this week and seem to be doing an awful lot of posting but if it's what it takes to keep me on the fairly straight and narrow then I'm not really that sorry. Sorry

30 syns in abottle of red. please tell me white is less cos it's see-through?

Doing well. Been to town with DH (bought some jeans - smaller than the ones I'm wearing, but they were too big when I bought them) and resisted bakery treats when I bought DS his sausage roll.

DH is taking his original day VERY seriously.

SWlurker · 07/03/2008 15:59

White wine is approx 4.5 syns for a small glass and 6 syns for a large glass, so be careful. Sharing bottle with hubby would halve the syns in whole bottle?! Better to try to switch to a spirit and diet mixer if you can. I did, only thing is now I can't handle wine If your a serious wine drinker don't read this bit, but if you're not lambrini light is only 12 syns a bottle - just don't try to get drunk on it, the syns are down because so is the alcohol content!

Mini triumph to me - I have got through the work day without eating the chocs, meaning I have 10 syns to use on tia maria tonight!

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 17:09

well done lurker. How many tia marias is 10 syns? I aren't keen on spirits, I prefer lager/wine, in the good old days I used to drink pints of bitter, but I prefer a shandy now. Might have to progress to that next week...

toadette · 07/03/2008 17:40

Jeepers, 30 syns in a bottle of red wine, I've been syn-ing that as 24. Oops, no wonder I didn't lose weight this week

Just had a look at a section on the SW website about flexible syns (how often in the week can you use them, eh?). It gave example of planning for a Chinese meal so it gave the syns value for prawn crackers, very topical for chez moi this week. 2 prawn crackers = 1.5 syns. So still not great.

What's everyone having for dinner tonight. Haven't picked what colour day I'm on yet as I've just had 'neutral' foods so far today. Nimble toast (H/E b) and cheese spread (H/E a) with 2 boiled eggs, plus 2 oranges so far today. Have a healthy extra 'b' still available. Decisions, decisions....

Riallymusttryharder · 07/03/2008 18:17

I've never thought in terms of syns per bottle. I count the first two glasses as 41/2 each...

Have just tried smash pizza. I think I should have cooked it longer/hotter. The crispy bits round the edge were nice, but the middle was a bit squidgy. I'm having a small steak later with loads of SW chips and salad and maybe some veg. Might even syn a couple of onion rings. DH is having surf & turf.

toadette · 07/03/2008 18:38

Steak and chips sounds yum. Decided on green day as I have just had a bowl of mashed potato to fill me up until we have dinner later. Might have some noodles with veg or something. Really need to get to the supermarket, there is nothing inspiring or SW-friendly in the fridge or cupboards at the moment. Just totalled up my syns for the week so far, 60!!!! And I don't weigh in until Tuesday night. That's my only grumble about SW, a night with a takeaway and a bottle of wine can really push syns through the roof.

SWlurker · 07/03/2008 23:54

its 4 tia maria and diet cokes! unfortunately I have to double that because stupidly I also had a smirnoff Ice which I think is about 9 syns for one!

seemed like a good idea at the time...

Made a veg lasagne for tea tonight. It was delish and way too moreish, good job it was free!

sugarlumps · 08/03/2008 08:24

i had a very successful day yesterday, i went out for dinner at luch time, and while everyone else was tucking into pie and chips or steak and chips i had chicken piri piri skewers and rice, and it was yummy!
but then on the way home my car decided to play silly buggers with me and stop working
so i spent all afternoon and early evening ringing round trying to get it into a garage today. by the time i had sorted out the brat got his tea done and him bed it was 8pm, so i missed dinner by accident and had a couple of ryvitas instead.
so fingers crossed my car will survive and the diet will too hahaha

Hello all. welcome newbies and huge congratulations on the losses! Well its been soooo long and yes Im back to my original weight. Ive been in Paris etc and eaten and drunk far far far too much.
So Monday is the day but Im also being good today and tomorrow.
Why doesnt my gym have a creche? I would go in the day and have my evenings free. I cant stand having to get changed, get in the car etc after putting the boys to bed.
Well Im off to have poached eggs and bacon for breakfast.

Riallymusttryharder · 08/03/2008 11:09

Bugger.

I was SO good yesterday. Steak and chips was delish, was well within my syna AND I only had 2 glasses of wine.

But, I am in pain with my bad back (2 days of wearing trainers instead of my crocs have aggrevated my sciatica) and have had hot crisp white buttery toast. It was good.

I had almost got myself convinced that if I was lighter my back wouldn't hurt so much and having toast wouldn't contribute to that goal, but after I staggered downstairs I gave in.

I will try hard to be sensible for the rest of the day. Toast is not the end of the world (but I can't face finding out the syns).

SWlurker · 09/03/2008 04:20

Hmmmm I reckon I had about 30 syns tonight on alcohol (a lot of!) and tomato ketchup. Oh, and have found out that the risotto promto 4 cheese that consultant said was free is actually 4 syns, so make that 34 syns. I need to have a very low syn sunday/monday/tuesday to pull it back. bu**er

Riallymusttryharder · 09/03/2008 10:21

not a halo polishing day here yesterday either. Was good after the toast but missed lunch, wentout to a tea and scones thing and had half a scone, then was VV good at teatime with lots of veg and a small helping of cottage pie, but was starving laster on and had wine and crisps and shared a small pizza with DH, and couple of chocolates

I am having some "proper" toast this moring as I feel a bit off-colour (* week TMI), but it's mire cottage pie and veg later so I'm not heading for a disaster.

And I promise to be perfect tomorrow ready for weigh-in on Tuesday

toadette · 09/03/2008 15:28

Terrible diet day yesterday. Started well but had friends round in the evening resulting in Indian takeaway and bottle of wine. Hungover today so have been eating loads of bread, arghhh. I WILL get back into the diet properly from TOMORROW (repeat x1000). Weekends totally zap any scrap of willpower that I have...very unfortunate. Hope you all are managing better than me.

Riallymusttryharder · 09/03/2008 19:54

never mind toadette, tomorrow is another day.

I feel rather ill, I'm hoping it's first AF after PG (sorry if TMI) - DS is almost 9 months old. Am hoping it's not the flu my mum had cos it wiped her out for 3 weeks and she is disgusted she didn't lose any weight

Don't know if I'll eat tonight or not, but will be back with it tomorrow.

DH is doing disgustingly well, despite eating too many crisps and drinking too much

SWlurker · 09/03/2008 20:29

Better day for me today! have got myself quite addicted to homemade lasagne with the top sheet left bare to crisp up - mmm!

Too busy to think about food for most of the day, which also helps!

Come on everyone who fell off the bandwaggon this weekend - lets draw a line and get on with it afresh!

kid · 09/03/2008 21:36

I need to get back to it. I have not been good for what seems like ages, I am not looking forward to weighing myself. I did gain 2lb over 2 weeks which isn't the end of the world. Worried I have gained more though so need to be extra good.

Well done to those that are being good and sticking to SW

nappyneeds · 09/03/2008 23:04

Can I join I have just decided to start slimming world and will be registering on tuesday (first day wednesday). I have at least two stone to lose in 6 months for my wedding which was sprung on me by fiance just last friday.

Does anyone have any suggestions on buying books with SW recipes that can be bulk cooked and frozen? I have already bought a magazine to get me 'into' the idea.

Also I have heard that green days dont always work for people - what do you think???

kid · 10/03/2008 07:49

I find the monthly magazine good as it has a variety of recipes to try.
If you attending classes, they will be able to recommend the best books to buy or the best meals to make.
Good luck

toadette · 10/03/2008 09:01

Morning everyone.
Back into SW mode from today. Major damage limitation exercise now initiated - lots of free foods and water, water, water until tomorrow night's weigh-in. Hope you all have a great SW day today.

SWlurker · 10/03/2008 09:05

Hi Nappyneeds Congratulations! 2 stone in 6 months is really achievable.

I do all green and it works. Its really down to personal preference, if I did all red I'd soon cheat and give up. Best thing I find you can do re. green is to completely ignore all the low carb stuff non-slimming world people talk about.

Hope sugarlumps and all the others come back - I know its a busy life but I'm dying to hear how they're all getting on!

Hifi bar and yoghurt for brekky this morning. Might have a mug shot in a bit. Haven't decided on lunch - do I go out and get a Jacket potato or buy and make a Pasta and sauce

sugarlumps · 10/03/2008 09:11

had a bit of a poo weekend to be honest! well saturday was fantastic and i started off on sunday with all the right intentions, did well for brekki and lunch, the had sw chips and beans for tea, and it was after tea it all seemed to go pete tong!
everytime i stood up yesterday i went dizzy, so i had somehow convinced myself i was eating enough so i munched my way through real toast, carrots and dips, 2 muller lights and curly wurlys lol the list goes on!
now i think i may be anemic, always tired and dizzy when i stand up? going to eat lots of iron this week and see if it gets any easier!
today could be tricky too! have promised callum we will haev an indoor picnic, which means lots of junk food (4 him) and lots of healthier junk food for me,i might try making quorn kebabs?? not sure how they will taste but worth a try! i really want to see a substantial loss this week!

OP posts:
SWlurker · 10/03/2008 09:40

Good to see you!

Sounds like you should go to the doctors and get some tests done honey. I think its just a pinprick test to see if you're anaemic and they will know straight away?

Red or green?
Red - How about rolling up ham slices around cheese triangles (you can have 5 or 6 of certain ones?), , cheese and pickled onions on sticks, meat sandwiches...

Green - cold pasta salad, smash pizza, cous cous salad, Spanish frittata wedges(with potato) Mini jacket potatos with choice of fillings, wrap in foil to keep warm for the "journey"!

Both -
Dip - yoghurt or from frais with herbs
Veg sticks to dip
SW quiche
Cold Quorn sausages, whole or cut into chunks and on cocktail sticks
boiled eggs

fruit kebabs?

how about Quavers or skipps or something for low syn crisps, so not end of the world if you nick a few?

Ooh I like this and I've just inspired myself what to do to treat my god daughter and her two brothers at Easter!
