5st to loose, 26 weeks, 1:1 diet

oddwellingtonboots · 13/06/2023 22:10

Hallo everyone,

Jumping on here as I have set a target to loose as much weight as possible before Christmas.

Starting stats
16st 2lbs
5ft 6
Age 39
Size 18

Due to other health issues I need a healthy BMI to qualify for a breast reduction and life insurance, both of which I'd like to have by 2024.

Target weight is 11st. Going to start on 1:1 when I'm back from working away next week so I can get my delivery, see how that goes for a couple of months.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Xx

Hi everyone :)

I'm doing ok, Cambridge has been a challenge! I did 5 days of sticking to it 100% and it made me tired, grumpy, sensitive, lightheaded...but I did actually have bursts of more energy at times, days 3 and 4 particularly, I look trimmer and leaner, it has been a brilliant way to reset my mind about eating.

What was really useful is that I learnt:

  1. The value of a calorie - having 200 calorie meals 4 times a day makes a 400 calorie meal look massive
  2. When I need to eat - 8am, 10.30am, 12pm, 3pm, 6pm - before this I just constantly ate all the time, now I have learnt to wait.
  3. What I crave, weirdly it wasn't carbs or refined sugar, it was veg, fruit, eggs, chicken - real food.
  4. To check labels - if it doesn't have the right balance of carbs, protein and fat its not worth it, there are better nutrient sources out there.

I do quite a bit of exercise (15 mins morning yoga, 10k steps a day and swim a few times a week) so I think I will need to start adding more calories soon because I cant do any of that on 800 per day and not doing it isn't viable long term for me - my body needs to move.

I weigh in on Friday morning so we will see the results of week one. I already feel like I've changed my relationship with food, from comfort/reward/eating everything in sight, to wanting the best quality fuel for my body and mind.

Its been hell of a journey already lol. I'll post on Friday am with the results.

Hi @Peony2021 - I'm with you, we've got this 🙂
Hi @Whiiiissstle - are you using myfitnesspal? Its a good tracker. Are you going to post losses on here? it would be great to cheer you on.

oh and to drink SHIT LOADS of water - I got one of the 2.2lt bottles from ebay, I fill it up twice a day, my pee is clear - this is wonderful I must have been sooo dehydrated all the time.

Also learnt I can cope without caffeine as I've been on herbal tea only - who knew?

Please could I join? Need to lose over 5 stone. Feeling so unfit and self-conscious.

Currently 15st 5lbs, 5ft 3 size 18. Would like to get back down to 10 stone and a size 10/12 before my sister's wedding in Aug 24.

Doing 18:6 intermittent fasting and generally trying to be mindful of what I eat.

Whiiiissstle · 29/06/2023 07:20

@oddwellingtonboots yes I'll come back and share any loss or commiserate anything else haha. I am slightly nervous the next time i weigh myself that nothing will have changed! Also after reading your post about drinking water, I probably need to up my game in that respect. I know I don't drink enough water during the day (despite having a water bottle on my desk and acces to a water machine)....

Whiiiissstle · 29/06/2023 15:00

This may be a daft question, I got the myfitnesspal I went to log food and I was wondering if you could add in your own thongs rather than searching and choosing one on the returned results? Hope that makes sense!

Mull · 30/06/2023 07:10

Morning, first weekly weigh in today and I’ve lost 7lbs. I’m pleased but know that a lot of that was water retention. My hands and feet are definitely less swollen. Think my tummy (my worst area, I’m like a short, round apple 🙄) is also slightly reduced.

Intermittent fasting has worked well. I eat lunch at 11 and dinner at 6 and that’s it. LOADS of water and a couple of cups of tea. I am hungry for the couple of hours before a meal but trying to stay busy. I’m trying to reduce carbs so working on changing the proportions of food on my plate to focus on protein to fill me up.

My biggest achievement is that I haven’t had ANY chocolate / biscuits / cake!! I have no idea the last time I didn’t eat that stuff on a daily basis. On previous diets I’ve still allowed myself some, to stop myself falling of the wagon completely, but I think I need a total break from the sugar. I’m not craving it, even when I’m hungry, so that’s good.

I’m very aware I’m ‘in the zone’ of this diet, when it seems so easy and obviously I’m going to eat like this for the rest of my life (I’ve been there and bought the T-shirt), so trying to make this as manageable as possible to make long term changes and make this my default way of eating.

Hope everyone else has had a good week.

Yes, you can add in Your own foods or build output recipes you use a lot.

If you go to your diary and click 'add food' then you have options to scan a barcode, search or quick add. If you quick add then you literally just put in the calories, alternatively across the top you have options to add a meal, recipe or food. If you create one of those then they exist forever and you can reuse them.

Brilliant! Thank you @FatAgainItsLettuceTime I was adding things in yesterday but either the serving size wasn't right for what I was having or the calorie info wasn't right compare to the information direct from thd packaging I had. So it didn't seem to be a very accurate count compared to me writing it down so I could work it out myself! I will take a look at playing around with it to do my own entries.

Mrspopper · 30/06/2023 08:45

Can I join?
sw:17st 10
have been trying past couple of weeks but nothing shifting. So this week am going to be more mindful of calories.
I was also thinking of taking photos of anything I eat.

oddwellingtonboots · 30/06/2023 11:44

Results are in - first week of 1:1 diet (cambridge)

Last friday - 15st 12.9lbs
today - 15st 6.4lbs

Loss of 6.5lbs :) in a week - so happy with that. The rest of June without this plan I managed 3.1lbs so nearly 10lbs gone this month.

I've had shake for breakfast, pasta type meal for lunch, chocolate bar snack in afternoon and soup for dinner (they have over 40 different things, you can mix it up) - total 800 calories. I added a few more calories in terms of chicken and salad bits on days where I went swimming. The meals are so quick to make and there is only one thing to wash up, no food shopping so it really takes the focus off food.

10k steps a day, 3 litres water a day, herbal tea, got lots of sleep.

They have great water flavouring powder which makes it easy to drink lots of water, and they have a warm veg kinda soup powder (bullion) that is freely available to have anytime, that worked wonders when I was peckish. I also made some jelly sweets with the water flavouring which are also free to eat anytime.

Ate at 8.30, 12, 3 and 6 each day so kinds IF too.

Learnt so much this week, going to continue this next week as its going really well. I did have a couple of days where I felt tired and a couple where i felt really emotional and snappy, so on day 6 I ate some normal food as well to fill me up a bit. Feeling good today, mood is stable and energy levels are high, not too peckish.

What I like is having a consultant who sends me a morning and evening message and did a 15 min meeting with me today, she's really good at keeping me on track. After one more week my calories will be going up to 1000 a day.

So yeah, its not a cheap plan, and this week has felt a bit brutal but Im so pleased I did it as a reset in my eating habits.

I've got a referral voucher if anyone wants the code thing, or stay tuned for more updates on how its going.

Congrats @Mull thats fantastic, you must be chuffed :)

@Mrspopper certainly can! myfitnesspal is a great tracker for calories

@oddwellingtonboots great result! You must be so pleased. I’ve never done Cambridge but my sister has been doing it recently and she’s liked not having to think about food so much. She is only cooking for herself though so makes it easier.

Onwards (and downwards!) for next week!

Londonnight · 30/06/2023 12:18

I started the 1.1 diet in February with 5 stone to lose. I am doing step 3 [ I have only done this step]. I have lost 3 st 8 lb in that time, gone from a size 22 to size 14/ 16 I am 5'1". It feels great to be close to goal.
I have followed the diet to the letter and have honestly not felt hungry. I am so happy with the weight loss. No other diet has helped me like this, and I have a wonderful consultant which really helps.

For me, as I live on my own, it isn't really costing me a lot more than buying food each week, and I really needed to do this.

Mull · 30/06/2023 16:48

@Londonnight thats an amazing achievement, well done! I have 6st to lose and am only 1wk into the process so it’s great to hear people who have stuck at a regime and seen results.

SuffolkUnicorn · 30/06/2023 17:05

I’ve done exante before but might try this diet does the referral code give you any money off please

Danikm151 · 30/06/2023 17:25

@BusyCaz how are you getting on with orlistat?

others I know say never again. But i’ve been ok

BusyCaz · 30/06/2023 17:35

@Danikm151 Not too bad really, I am mostly taking one a day, very occasionally two. I have been staying away from fatty foods mostly, but had a couple of 'wind that was oil' moments lol.

Down to 84.7kg from 91.8kg, but I think it's the overall thing I'm doing rather than just the tablets. Who knows.

How are things with you on them?

Danikm151 · 30/06/2023 17:42

@BusyCaz a few oily moments in the loo but no accidents yet 😂

I had a day off for my birthday because I knew cake would not help but I’ve found I’m more motivated to eat right to avoid any accidents!

BusyCaz · 30/06/2023 17:45

@Danikm151 Really odd smell isn't it 😂

Yeah they sure help me to be good as well, my birthday later this month and I think I will give the tablets a miss that day lol.

Whiiiissstle · 03/07/2023 05:37

Morning all! So weighed myself this morning and I've lost 4lbs which I'm quite happy with, I was hoping for 1! Haha. I'll see how this week goes but starting out on a positive.

Bumblebeebum23 · 03/07/2023 07:12

Hi all,

I'm still sticking to it and coming off slowly, but surely...

Original start Weight (16th June): 15st 9lbs
Thread start weight: 15st 5lbs

Current weight: 15st 2.5lbs

Loss so far: 6.5lbs

Next mini goal is to move out of the 15 bracket.

oddwellingtonboots · 03/07/2023 10:50

@Bumblebeebum23 cheering you on! I'm 15st 5.2lbs now - I wanna be a 14 number too :)

OP posts:
Mull · 03/07/2023 11:33

Getting down into another weight bracket is such a motivator. I need to get into the 15s first but it’s been a good few years since I saw 14 something so that will be amazing!

Im trying to focus on NSV as well and have been very surprised this week. ‘Just’ losing my first 7lbs seems to have stopped my snoring! I knew the snoring was quite a new thing but who knew that one week of better eating would stop it!

oddwellingtonboots · 03/07/2023 13:12

@mull - its so motivating isn't it - I was stuck at 16st for most of the year (like I was expecting some sort of miracle, my eating habits were dreadful). To be in the 15s now feels great.

I need to check with my other half to see if my snoring (which had got really bad) has stopped too - its awesome yours has! do you feel more energetic?

OP posts:
Mull · 03/07/2023 13:21

@oddwellingtonboots I do think my sleep has improved a bit. Wasn’t sure if it was the lack of sugar pulsing through my veins, but maybe it’s not snoring so not disturbing myself?!

I am getting tired mid afternoon when I would usually always have had some sugar. Trying to push through without snacking but definitely need a cuppa at 4pm!

Bumblebeebum23 · 03/07/2023 15:38

@oddwellingtonboots, thank you! Right back at you 😊 definitely a motivator, really hoping we can move down those numbers together ❤️ determined to keep going this time after what feels like a thousand failed diets!
