5st to loose, 26 weeks, 1:1 diet

oddwellingtonboots · 13/06/2023 22:10

Hallo everyone,

Jumping on here as I have set a target to loose as much weight as possible before Christmas.

Starting stats
16st 2lbs
5ft 6
Age 39
Size 18

Due to other health issues I need a healthy BMI to qualify for a breast reduction and life insurance, both of which I'd like to have by 2024.

Target weight is 11st. Going to start on 1:1 when I'm back from working away next week so I can get my delivery, see how that goes for a couple of months.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

Xx

What's 1:1?

oddwellingtonboots · 13/06/2023 22:13

It used to be called Cambridge weight plan. It's low calorie meal replacements.

Hello @oddwellingtonboots

I'm going on holiday at the end of November (5 months away) and would like to lose 3-4 stone before then. Can I join the thread, please? Not doing Cambridge diet, just going to cut back on the junk, do 16:8 and increase my exercise.

My stats are similar to yours:
16st 5lbs
5ft 7
Age 43
Size 18 (I think?)

oddwellingtonboots · 13/06/2023 22:59

Certainly, welcome! Great to know I'm not doing it alone. I took front, back and size pictures tonight and have saved them in a dedicated album on my phone, along with some inspiration pictures - 10 years ago I was 11st and looking amazing.

Here is to getting back there.

OP posts:
NCNC4 · 13/06/2023 23:54

Photos are a great idea! Might join you. How often will you take progress photos?

I was 3 stone lighter 10 years ago and 7 stone lighter 20 years ago! I don't even recognise myself any more. Long-term I'd like to get to about 11 stone, same as you.

Have you done Cambridge before?

BusyCaz · 14/06/2023 09:33

I'm on a diet to get below 35 BMI for a tummy tuck (self funded).

Some meds I am on are awful for weight gain and I also have a history of bulimia, so have to be careful not to get fixated on losing too much weight.

At the moment I am calorie counting, trying to stick to a 16.8 window as well as taking Orlistat the gp has prescribed me.

So not really similar other than dieting to have surgery lol.

It really is a good incentive. Best of luck with your journey Flowers

Peony2021 · 14/06/2023 10:19

Hey there, I'm delighted this post exists!

I have honestly at least 6 stone to lose and more to be considered in the healthy BMI range.

Starting stats:
Current weight 18st
Goal weight 12st
Age 32

I have hovered around 14-16st since a traumatic event in my mid twenties and I skyrocketed after pregnancy. I hate the way my body feels, I hate not being active. I used to hike mountains and go for a 5k run every day no bother. Really getting me down. Want to try to lose slowly and steadily.

Mine is definitely binge / emotional eating and also my husband is a feeder (despite him being fit and slim 🙄) so I've spoken to him about that.

Hopefully we can support each other over the next while!! My plan is to just start moving more and eating less - I always try fad diets and they don't stick so I'm just aiming for a bit of portion control and healthier snacks.

wherearethewindows · 14/06/2023 11:25

Can I lurk while I motivate myself to join in? Currently just under 18 stone, should be about 12 but I don't think I'll ever manage that so 14 stone would be great.

HollyGolightly4 · 14/06/2023 13:33

Yes please!

I need a motivator to keep going- and lots of accountability.

I've lost 1stone in 5 weeks, so I'm pretty proud of that, but need to keep going. People are starting to notice which is nice, but I feel like I'm plateauing a bit.

Currently
Weight- 14 stone 5
Goal weight for 14th July- 13 stone 5
Goal weight- 10 stone (I'm very short)
Age- 35
I've been hovering around size 16 for a long while now!

I'm calorie counting, using my fitness pal and tracking my Fitbit as well as trying to increase my exercise.

Spanielsanddaughters · 15/06/2023 09:33

All similar to me!
im 5ft 10, 230lbs.
35yo
I started losing weight (again) about 2 months ago, I’ve lost 20lbs so far.
it’s always hard to keep at it once that initial quick weight loss goes.

I think I’m “supposed” to be 12 stones/ 168lbs but that’s completely unrealistic for me!
I’m aiming for 14 stone / 196lbs

feejee · 15/06/2023 09:43

If you dont mind me reading along, i'd like to see how it goes for you. Similar stats but only 5ft2. I've considered a plan like this, but i'd still have to cook for my husband and son which is the pain. If ive still got other food in the house i find it incredibly difficult not to eat it.

oddwellingtonboots · 15/06/2023 14:45

Hallo all, welcome to the thread, so glad to see im not alone and happy this is helpful. I weighed in this morning (Thursday is my day) at 16st so have lost 2lbs this week which is great considering I've had a bad cold so not done a lot of exercise.

What day does everyone weigh in?

My box of food from Cambridge arrives next Thursday, I'm going to a reunion event in September so really hoping to have shifted 2-3 stone by then which Cambridge says is doable.

@HollyGolightly4 that's amazing progress! What's your step count/calories per day atm?

@feejee your husband's time to shine in the kitchen! My partner is going to be fending for himself the next couple months, I'll let him know at some point lol.

@Spanielsanddaughters what's your plan/time frame?

@wherearethewindows lurk away :)

@Peony2021 mine is binge too, you've got this! Have you got a short term goal in mind?

@BusyCaz it's a great incentive isn't it - all the best place share your experience if you want to x

@NCNC4 I'm going to do measurements and weight weekly and pics every fortnight I think...the first ones I've done are horrendous and I keep them on my phone so I've got motivation.

I think that's everyone! Have a good weekend all keep busy and drink tonnes of water xx

@oddwellingtonboots Well done on the 2lbs, it's so nice to see the weight drop Daffodil

I started at 91.8kg, and down to 87.5kg but its weigh day for me in the morning. I had planned on popping over my neighbours later for a cheeky glass of wine, so fingers crossed that wont effect it too much.

My goal weight to get to is 83kg, and my next consultation is 26th of july.

I then have a family holiday for a week with my children and grandchildren in a cottage, with surgery pencilled in for 15th August.

Please let me know what the food is like, I have looked it up, but unsure if the meals would be very tasty?

Great that you have an event in September, gives you a littler goal to aim for.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

hilbil21 · 15/06/2023 15:41

Having done Cambridge in the past I can confirm it works! All I will say is I've since done similar and it's cheaper and the products are nicer. Just for future reference even. It's called shake that weight. Good luck!

HippyChickMama · 15/06/2023 15:48

Can I join please? I started on Monday using My Fitness Pal to calorie count. I don't know how much I weigh but it's just over 17st, I'm 44, 5ft 6 and a size 18. I want to get down to 11st which is my pre children weight and I was a size 10-12 at that weight. I'm also peri menopausal now and just starting HRT so if it's not now, I may struggle to lose it in the future. I gained 5.5 stone when pregnant with ds and I've never managed to lose more than 2 stone since and always put it back on so I know this has to be a long term thing. I'm not planning on regular weigh ins, just how my clothes fit and I'm hoping the HRT will help with my sleep so I'll have the energy for some exercise too

Lulooo · 15/06/2023 15:49

I’m so glad I found this thread. I really need the support. I’m in a similar situation and have put on far too much weight. I need to weight myself again but I’m nearly 14st at 5’1. I need to lose about 4.5 stone at least. I’ll weight myself tomorrow and post again.
I would like to the Cambridge diet but I’m too scared of it. I’m going away for two weeks a this weekend so think I’ll start off with another plan and then maybe move onto Cambridge in July when im back.

oddwellingtonboots · 15/06/2023 17:09

I'm happy to honestly report back on Cambridge - I'm starting on 4 products a day and its costing £300 for the month, which is around what I'd spend on food anyway so I'm not too bothered about that - and my consultant seems lovely so hopefully she'll hold me accountable too and keep me going through any challenging phases. In the past I lost a lot of weight but did it though a lot of exercise, which I don;t have time to do now so thought this would be a fast option.

I'm a real foodie so I'll give some honest feedback about how edible the stuff is!
I'm veggie too which is what makes Cambridge appealing because all their stuff is veggie.

@hilbil21 I'll have a look at that one

@HippyChickMama welcome :) keep us updated on your progress - great to see someone with similar stats, how many cal are you doing?

@Lulooo welcome :) have you done Cambridge before?

HippyChickMama · 15/06/2023 18:01

1400, apparently my bmr is just over 1700 so hopefully should see some results. I'm managing ok on that, I rarely eat breakfast anyway so have been having something mid morning, a salad with protein for lunch, a healthy dinner and a couple of Rich Tea biscuits in the evening. Am weighing and tracking everything and drinking loads of water. I don't feel hungry in between meals and I feel better for having cut down the carbs at lunch

oddwellingtonboots · 15/06/2023 18:41

That sounds like a really good plan. I love muching my way thru as many snacks as possible between 8 and 9pm that's my weak spot for sure. Are you on MyFitnessPal?

OP posts:
HippyChickMama · 15/06/2023 20:06

Yes, I'm planning on having an evening off tracking tomorrow as it's ds's last GCSE exam and we're going out for a meal to celebrate. I'll maybe eat minimal food during the day so it's not too bad

oddwellingtonboots · 15/06/2023 21:38

Oh lovely - definitely a milestone to celebrate!

I started Cambridge this morning, so far have had porridge, two black coffees and a soup, along with a litre of water with the orange flavouring in it. Weigh-in this morning was 15st 12.8lbs, so had a small loss last week.

So far its going ok, I think I'll be missing real food after 28 days though! How is everyone doing?

OP posts:
Peony2021 · 27/06/2023 15:26

Hi @oddwellingtonboots

How are you doing? Great job on the loss so far!! Hang in there!

My short term goal is to be 2 stone down by the end of September. Would love to then spend October / November shifting a further stone and going into December feeling half decent about myself!

How is everyone doing?! My weigh day is usually Friday so I'll report in then 🙈

Mull · 28/06/2023 06:55

Hi all, I’m new to this thread. I’m 5’3 and have unfortunately gone up to 16st 11lbs which is obviously far, far too much. I’m 44.

I did post on the ‘shorties’ thread but, actually, I think it’s aimed at people with less to loose. Unfortunately I’m both short and very fat 🙄

Had a blood test last week and, surprise surprise, my blood sugar is too high. The nurse wants to re-do in 4wks (19/07) so my first aim is to do what I can in that timeframe.

My problem is carbs (both sugar and starch). I eat them all the time. I’m going to stop all refined sugar, only eat between 11am-7pm and cut my portions down. My meals aren’t too bad as I mostly cook from scratch (except too carby) but the sugary snacking MUST stop.

I’ve been following this since last Fri (that’s weigh in day) and lost a few lbs of bloat and feeling better already. Really hoping I can stick to it so this thread will be great for me to update on a weekly basis.

I’ve GOT to use this as a wake up call to sort my shit out.

Whiiiissstle · 28/06/2023 07:35

Hi everyone, so reassuring to see there's a lot of people on here with around the same height, weight and goal aim as me! I'm trying calorie counting for the first time. We booked a holiday (not till next year thank goodness) I bit the bullet and bought some scales as I knew I would have to do something about my weight. It was so much worse than I expected I am the heaviest I have ever been and that in itself is motivation to start and do something.
