2.5lb a week (on average)

HawdMeBack · 29/05/2023 07:33

I weighted myself this morning and I'm 14st 5lbs. That's a gain of 12lbs in the past 10 weeks - I'm disgusted with myself!!

I've been struggling to lose weight since DC2 was born 14 months ago. Nowhere near enough sleep, too exhausted to exercise and bingeing on crap at night when the kids are in bed.

We're going on our first family holiday abroad at the end of September and I want to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (11st) for then.

I have 18 weeks to lose 47lbs, that's 2.5lbs a week. I've fired up my fitbit and intend on doing the following:

10,000 steps a day
1200 calories a day
Log everything in MyFitnessPal
Drink 2 litres of water a day

I've lost around a stone twice already this year doing faddy diets but they aren't sustainable long term and I've put the weight back on (plus some) when I've stopped, so I want to do more of a lifestyle change than a crash diet this time.

Anyone want to join me for accountability? I plan on weighing myself every Monday morning and will share my results here (even if no-one else joins, it'll hopefully keep me on track).

SW: 12s
CW: 11st 5lbs!
TW: 10st

its not a quick road that’s for sure - I’ve been doing this since mid June and so it’s roughly been 4 months to lose what I have

in that time my loss was so slow I had to start walking and doing weights in order to speed things up

im hoping by December I’ll be down to 11st and at this rate it’s going to be July next year to hit my target!

Fuckedthen · 20/09/2023 18:44

It's demoralising. Took me about a month to lose 3lbs and 3 days of unplanned consumption to put it back on.

It's shite. I've restarted Monday but I'll be honest, I'm not feeling it. The level of effort for the reward is skewed!

I'm the same, think my metabolism is fucked

Cut calories right back but can still only lose 1lb a week and too miserable/not sustainable. When I'm on a more sustainable diet but still in deficit I just fluctuate around the same point. Driving me mad!

Quitelikeit · 21/09/2023 09:24

1lb a week is great?!

That is 52lbs a year?

it’s took me roughly 4 months to lose 8/9lbs so my loss is even slower than yours but tbh I hated being overweight and I’d rather eat well than eat takeaways/heaps of carbs and generally processed rubbish!

in the past I had your approach and thought the whole thing was t worth it but I’ve realised I had to persist with it and find healthy recipes that I liked

stick it out ladies!

WEIGH DAY

SW: 14st 5lbs
CW: 13st 5lbs
GW: 11st

Last weigh in was 3 weeks ago for me and in that time I've lost 1lb! Still not well and had my period last week so been avoiding the scales 🫣 I braved it this morning and, like everyone else, progress is SLOW 😒

I go on holiday this weekend so no chance of making it into the 12's before then, but at least I've not gained. We're all doing really well (eventhough it doesn't feel like it at times).

Keep going! We'll all look back at this thread in 6 months time and be 2st lighter (losing 1lb a week), just in time for summer 🤩

Thank you. 1.8lbs is a great loss, well done! It's so hard to stay on track when you're not feeling great, all you want is ease and comfort. As long as you don't overindulge then it'll all be fine. A little of what you fancy does you good. Hope you feel better soon x

We're off to sunny Spain and the forecast is looking good 😎 I can't wait 😀 we're away again in early March so I'm hoping to lose another stone by then 🤞 how are you getting on? X

Hope you are having a nice holiday @HawdMeBack

After two weeks of pretty much falling off the wagon I'm trying to get back on it

SW 208
CW 188.2
GW 154

That's a gain of 0.7lbs from two weeks ago which seems too little so may gain again this week but am back to eating well so will just see what happens.

Quitelikeit · 09/10/2023 13:43

@HawdMeBack

Hope your hol was amazing? I love Spanish tapas!!! Mmmmm

SW: 12 stone
CW: 11st 5lbs
TW: 10 stone

my weight is coming off super slow but I think that’s because the changes I have made are sustainable for me. No way am I eating rabbit food and sitting starving

I do yo-yo quite a bit with water weight after my drinking on a weekend but I won’t be giving that up and so I accept it for now

Was the weather good?

What are your stats now ?

HawdMeBack · 28/10/2023 12:34

@stillalongwaytogo @Quitelikeit are you guys still here? How are you getting on?

Sorry I've been AWOL, came back from holiday with COVID (which floored me). All good now though 👍

OP posts:
stillalongwaytogo · 30/10/2023 09:41

Still here @HawdMeBack ! Sorry you've had COVID, hope it didn't ruin your holiday?

My current numbers:
SW 208
CW 185.7
GW 154

Still getting back on track after falling off the wagon a few weeks ago, I put two pounds on, then lost them straight away but then they came back (I guess I put on more but they didn't show straight away). Think I'm finally back on track just annoying how hard it is to lose and how easy it is to gain.

How is everyone else getting on?

I'm trying to refrain from anything Christmassy as long as possible as I want to enjoy Christmas but not ruin it all by starting on the celebrations too soon.

HawdMeBack · 31/10/2023 06:18

Hi @stillalongwaytogo you're doing amazingly well, keep going!! It's so hard to get back on the wagon once you fall off but after the first couple of days it becomes easier.

I started to feel unwell halfway through my holiday but didn't realise it was COVID at that point. I had a couple of really bad days and then just felt generally unwell for another week. I tested when I got home and, sure enough... Positive!

I've fallen off the wagon a bit myself, weighed for the first time in ages yesterday and am up 3.4lbs.

SW: 14st 5lbs
CW: 13st 8.4lbs
GW: 11st

I started again yesterday with healthy eating and have my second PT session today. I cancelled my gym membership as I wasn't using it. I've signed up for twice weekly PT sessions which I will definitely go to as it's 1-2-1 so they'll definitely notice if I'm not there (plus, they're expensive and I've paid in advance).

Are you incorporating any form of exercise?

@HawdMeBack

still here!

11st 6lbs though

ive slipped a bit and been ravenous at times so I fed my hunger

I’m not giving up though tomorrow is a new day!

if I could make 11st by December that would be one st lost in 5/6 months and I’d be happy with that even though at times I think I’ll never make it at this rate

Menora · 01/11/2023 07:28

I read the title of this thread and thought oh no I think people might be shocked how slow weight loss really is! It is slow. I lost a lot in the first few months now I have hit the super slow zone. It’s going to take me a year to lose 4.5st I reckon. It’s going to have ups and downs. I’m nearly 3st down now and the last 1.5 is really hard going.
I have been the same weight for 3 weeks, it is so annoying but I am keeping the faith something will drop off at some point!

Ilovedavidmitchell · 01/11/2023 09:21

I'm still here too, but I think I might just try to maintain my weight at this point instead of lose it. I lost a stone and have now been the same weight for the past month and a half. The exact same weight, every time I get on the scales it's just the exact same number (goes up by two pounds on my period then back down to same number afterwards). I don't have the willpower or motivation to try harder than I am to get back to losing. I currently eat 1,500 calories and go for a 40 min walk every day. And this has me maintaining my weight. I don't want to eat less calories and I don't want to exercise more because I honestly despise any type of rigorous exercise and won't stick to it. I'm 10st 2 now and wanted to get to 9st 6 which just seems like it would take me absolutely forever

That's brilliant that you've lost all of that weight and been successful in maintaining it. Maintaining is the hardest bit! Why is 9st 6lbs your goal? What is it about that number? X

Glad to hear you've not given up! I lost a stone within the first 6/7 weeks but there's something about the 1st mark with me, that's where I hit the wall. I've lost and gained the same 3lbs for months now, it's really frustrating! I've added exercise to see if that helps (yet to be determined). I know how much we all want to see big drops in weight every week, I want instant results and get disheartened easily when things aren't moving quick enough. But, I'm determined to push on this time. In my mind, I'm starting again from now, only this time I'm starting from a lower weight with less to lose than last time which is an achievement. We all need to celebrate the small wins. We're doing great and we WILL get there!

Thank you! It's just a bit annoying because you can't really tell much difference with a stone. I can feel it in my clothes they feel much more comfortable instead of snug. But I just don't think it's enough to make a difference. 9st 6 does seem random doesn't it tbh haha it's only because I used to be 9st.. then the weight slowly crept on over the last 5 years until I reached 11st 2 back in June. I didn't mind putting a few pounds on back then but once it started getting past 9st 5 I started to feel uncomfortable in myself but just never did enough to change it. So I know that around that mark is where I feel ok and would feel like myself again. Wouldn't be able to maintain 9st because my lifestyle is far too sedentary

Quitelikeit · 02/11/2023 13:23

11st 5lbs today! On this rollercoaster of weight loss

Like others I will keep on keeping on but must admit I have not been very active recently due to the weather and PMDD.

I have hated being overweight though for the last few years so I’m not giving up in the slightest. I’m so desperate (sad I know) to experience that feeling of looking good in my clothes! That I will not give up this time

SW: 14st 5lbs
CW: 13st 6.4lbs

Morning all,

How's your week been? I've reduced my carb and caffeine intake, increased protein, stopped snacking, done 2 strength focussed PT sessions and completed 10,000 steps a day..... And I'm 2lbs down.

My legs are aching and I can see my next PT session far enough but I'll persist. Consistency is key!

I get that. If you know what weight you looked and felt your best then why not aim for it 👍 I think part of my weight loss journey, as well as losing weight, will be about accepting my new body. After 2 c-sections, I'm not going to look how I once did, even at my goal weight. I need to learn to be ok with that as I don't want to spend my life feeling shit about myself.

It's not sad @Quitelikeit I think that's how we all feel. There's only one way to get there and it's not a fast route unfortunately 😔 I'd love to wake up tomorrow looking and feeling like I did in my mind/late 20s. I use photos of myself from that period of my life as a driver to keep going.
