2.5lb a week (on average)

I weighted myself this morning and I'm 14st 5lbs. That's a gain of 12lbs in the past 10 weeks - I'm disgusted with myself!!

I've been struggling to lose weight since DC2 was born 14 months ago. Nowhere near enough sleep, too exhausted to exercise and bingeing on crap at night when the kids are in bed.

We're going on our first family holiday abroad at the end of September and I want to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight (11st) for then.

I have 18 weeks to lose 47lbs, that's 2.5lbs a week. I've fired up my fitbit and intend on doing the following:

10,000 steps a day
1200 calories a day
Log everything in MyFitnessPal
Drink 2 litres of water a day

I've lost around a stone twice already this year doing faddy diets but they aren't sustainable long term and I've put the weight back on (plus some) when I've stopped, so I want to do more of a lifestyle change than a crash diet this time.

Anyone want to join me for accountability? I plan on weighing myself every Monday morning and will share my results here (even if no-one else joins, it'll hopefully keep me on track).

So I weighed myself today and I’m down to 11st 9lbs!

quite shocked as it was my period this week and I was up to 11st 13 and losing the will to live!

Fuckedthen · 20/07/2023 10:32

I jumped on for a wee cheeky weigh this morning and it's 10st 4lbs so another possible 1lb off. However, I did eat 1,000 over my calorie allowance yesterday so I'd imagine if there are any effects of that to be felt it won't be straight away, maybe by Monday - we'll see.

I'll keep making good choices and hope for the best!

Hubblebubble · 20/07/2023 12:32

Had the best day in ages yesterday
Swim
Overnight oats and coffee
HIIT class
Jacket potatoe, salad and a peach.
15 min walk home.
Homemade protein shake (kefir milk, chocolate flavoured whey, blended banana)
Two egg omlette with grated cheese.
Coffee.

Todaypicard · 20/07/2023 22:50

Meals today:

brunch of poached egg and beans on toast.
dinner of dahl and peas, followed by peach and pineapple with kefir and a sprinkle of muesli

HawdMeBack · 20/07/2023 23:37

Today i've had:

3 egg omelette with cheese, tomatoes and mushrooms.
A wrap with grilled halloumi and salad.
Bowl of chopped strawberries and grapes.
Handful of skips.

Not managed to swing my kettlebell about since Monday but did a lot of heavy lifting in the garden today, so hoping that'll have burnt some calories!

Morning all!

Stepped on the scales this morning and I'm 2lbs down! If I can get another 1lb off by Monday, I'll have lost my first stone 🤩🤞

I know that the scales can go up and down but what causes this? I understood that my weight went up on my period due to water weight but the last two times I weighed myself I was 10st 10 and then today I'm 11st.. I don't know why because I haven't eaten anything different to usual

I don't know the cause (most likely water retention) but your body can weight can fluctuate by around tlbs at any given time apparently. That's why it's best to only weight yourself once a week, at the same time, on the same scales, wearing the same thing tonget the most accurate results.

Every Monday morning I -

Get up
Go for a pee
Strip off
Weigh myself

Whatever the scales say, I log.

I do weight myself on a Thu/Fri to check my progress but I never log the results as they aren't a true indicator. A few times I've been a couple of pounds down midweek but back up come the Monday.

@HawdMeBack that's what I usually do too.. I weigh myself on Monday and then sometimes have a cheeky look on Thursday. This week for some reason I decided to weigh myself there days in a row. Won't be doing that again haha!

Do you think that eating out twice in a row is going to undo any progress? I have a few pre booked meals, one tonight, one tomorrow and then next weekend I am visiting my grandparents in Wales and my gran is a bit of a feeder so im going to have to give myself the day off next Saturday. But I'm kind of stressing about it which isn't really what I want to do. I want to be able to enjoy food and not feel guilty when eating unhealthy things as long as it's only every once in a while. But I feel like it's a bit OTT eating out three times in the space of like 9 days. If I eat well all the other days it's not going to make too much of a difference right?

Fuckedthen · 21/07/2023 21:06

@Ilovedavidmitchell I'm the same as @HawdMeBack in that it's water retention. I know of massively committed people that weigh every day, log it, and take the average as their loss. That wouldn't be good for my mental health I don't think and shift my focus the wrong way.

Listen, don't stress about food - that there is the road to madness. Life happens, sometimes you'll have 3 occasions in 9 days. Just make mindful choices when you're eating out or at your grans and don't press the 'fuck it' button. You'll be grand. I'd eat well the other days and eat what I want on the days that I have plans. Maybe have a lighter breakfast and/or lunch in preparation.

Go and enjoy it!

HawdMeBack · 21/07/2023 21:42

@Ilovedavidmitchell exactly what @Fuckedthen said. You have to live your life and enjoy it! The last thing you want to do is get fixated on what you're eating. Be mindful but not obsessive. Go out, eat what you want, enjoy your Gran's, and then make sensible choices in between. Balance is key 👍

Randomly I lost 4lbs

So I started my journey around 6 weeks ago

I didn’t know my starting weight as my scales were broken until 2 weeks in

So it was 11st 13lbs

then my period went and I was down to 11st 9lbs

I have been trying so hard but I need to trust in the process as I am eating cleaner and less calories than before.

@HawdMeBack a stone is brilliant! How long has that took?

sorry I know I could read the thread but I cba 🫣

🤣 Monday will mark 8 weeks! 1 down, 2 to go 🥴 I'm aiming for another 1 before I go on holiday at the end of September and then the last 1, hopefully, by the end of the year. If not, by the end of April as I have another holiday booked for then 🤞 that'll get me back down to my pre-pregnancy weight 💪 I'm 5'7 with an hourglass shape (minus the boobs) so look best with a bit of weight on me. 10st 10lbs - 11st is where I look and feel my best but I'll worry about the last 5-7lbs once I've achieved my initial goal x

8 weeks?! Wow. Hasn't that gone fast.

I've had a hungry day today so eating dinner now.

Hoping for a good result on the scales tomorrow 🤞🏻

HawdMeBack · 24/07/2023 06:08

Morning!

WEEK 8 WEIGH-IN

SW: 14st 5lbs
CW: 13st 6.8lbs
GW: 11st 0lbs

1.4lbs down for me this week! Still 1.5lbs off that stone. Been hovering around the stone mark all week and then, typically, on weigh day go up 1lb. Still, a decent weekly loss for being 2 months in 👍

This week I intend to eat more protein.

How's everyone else go on?

Getting on*

OP posts:
Todaypicard · 24/07/2023 10:43

I weighed yesterday as I’m on holiday for a week now - still 74kg, so I suppose I need to eat less! More protein, less carbs

Fuckedthen · 24/07/2023 15:00

WEEK 8 WEIGH-IN

SW: 150 lbs
CW: 142lbs
GW: 140lbs [interim for July]
GW: 125/130lbs [Final]

Ah, well I lost 3lbs this week. I jumped on and off those scales so fast in case they changed their mind. All in all I'm averaging about a pound a week which I'm happy with.

Next week @HawdMeBack definitely.
Enjoy your holiday @Todaypicard, it'll still be there when you're back.

HawdMeBack · 24/07/2023 16:49

3lbs is amazing @Fuckedthen well done!!

Enjoy your holiday @Todaypicard

@HawdMeBack thanks. Hopefully, the 2lbs next week. That would be pretty motivating.

Cazs818 · 25/07/2023 06:21

Finally some movement in my scales !

sw 13.55
cw 13.24

despite eating right and exercising nothing was budging , small amount lost considering the effort I’ve been putting in but it’s movement

kids are off now so it’s gonna make getting to the gym & swimming harder hopefully I can still manage and fit in some extra walks etc with the kids and dogs , two holidays fast approaching 🙈 gonna take my partners Vr so I can at least do 30/40 mins daily of boxing while we’re away

HawdMeBack · 27/07/2023 05:58

It's a start @Cazs818 👍 I know how disheartening it is when you've made real sacrifices, and the scale just doesn't reflect your dedication.

Enjoy your holidays! If you can keep up with a healthy routine whilst you're away then great, you'll feel mentally better for it rather than having post-holiday regrets.

Consistency is key!
