Orlistat

Hi, I have just started taking Orlistat today and I can see lots of old threads about it but none recently posted so just wondering if anyone else on here is on this same journey? I have around 5-6 stone that I could do with losing so my doctor suggested Xenical as a starting point. I have Fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome too and I am sure my weight at 18.5 stone won't be helping those. Any friendly advice or chat would be greatly appreciated Smile

@Becks2710 i has the gurgling too on the first day. Slightly cramping stomach, a bit like period cramps but feeling fine again today. A bit bloated right enough. Day 4 tomorrow so will see what that brings. Really hoping these help and manage to shift some weight. Let me know how you get on tomorrow if you manage to take the tablets! Hope you’re ok after your extraction also. Nothing worse x

@LinaR hi there 👋🏻. I was pushed back from the GP for getting a prescription. I was told my weight was borderline and to go and try myself with some dietary changes then come back in 12weeks to see if I could lose anything on my own. I have tried several times and just struggle to shift the weight. I have pernicious anaemia therefore get B12 injections, iron issues also so I always feel extra tired which in turn makes exercise a bit more difficult. I decided to get the tablets myself through an online consultation with Boots. All going ok so far. Day 4 tomorrow.

Becks2710 · 19/06/2024 07:34

@mummy2019 I managed to eat some scrambled eggs last night so took another tablet with that. Had some cramps like you described this morning but feeling ok, I was really worried about taking these after reading some of the horror stories but so far so good! I hope these do help me, I’m looking to lose about 4st 😬 what about you?

Becks2710 · 19/06/2024 07:36

@LinaR my GP was really good, he did me a referral to a weight management clinic and they rejected me because I don’t have any long term health conditions. So I made another appointment with him and he just done me a prescription.

mummy2019 · 19/06/2024 08:18

@Becks2710 i have about 3 stone I would like to lose ideally. I was a little bloated yesterday but feeling ok now. I was the exact same. I was so nervous and scared but a little excited to see if these would help me. Day 4 today x

Becks2710 · 21/06/2024 06:19

@mummy2019 I know what you mean, I am really excited and hopeful that I will be able to loose a good amount of weight. What day are you going to weigh? X

mummy2019 · 21/06/2024 08:12

@Becks2710 i think I will weigh tomorrow morning and see then. I did start on a Sunday but I feel Saturday is a better day for it just incase I go off the rails slightly on a Saturday night 😂. What about you? How r u feeling? X

TimetoPour · 21/06/2024 11:48

Hi all. Please may I join your chat? Congratulations to everyone that is doing so well. I’ve just received my first box of Orlistat and my bum cheeks are already wobbling at the thought of shitting myself.

If you do eat too much fat, how long does it take for it to start going through you? Is it within an hour or so or more likely the next day?

Does anyone have any good advice/ recipes for a new starter? X

Becks2710 · 22/06/2024 08:04

@mummy2019 good idea 😉 let me know how you get on 🤞🏻 I’m going to weigh on Sunday. I feel fine, still have lots of gurgling but other than that good. How about you? X

Becks2710 · 22/06/2024 08:08

@TimetoPour I was also terrified of shitting myself but nothing so far! I read somewhere never to trust a fart while you are taking orlistat so that is the rule I am sticking to 🤣

I am just trying to stick to usual healthyish meals with smaller portions and extra vegetables.

@TimetoPour Enjoy your day out! X

mummy2019 · 22/06/2024 10:36

@Becks2710 Morning 👋🏻. Weighed myself when I got up so I have lost 3lb in 6 days. I’m quite happy. Having friends over today for drinks etc so I’m expecting to go over a bit but will reign it back in tomorrow. Yes the gurgling I have a lot too. Let me know how your weigh in goes tomorrow 😊 x

mummy2019 · 22/06/2024 10:39

@TimetoPour Hi there. Of course you’re more than welcome to join. I did a weigh in this morning and I’m 6 days in. Scales say I have lost 3lb so far. How r u feeling about starting? Well I went slightly over last night and had a little of the oil they talk about this morning. It’s not pleasant but it’s not too bad. I can imagine it would be a lot worse if you really overdo things tho. Good luck for when you start. Keep us posted 😊 x

Hi, I wore period pants when I was on orlistat. Gave me a bit of peace of mind and saved my blushes literally on a couple of a occasions. Always took a spare pair and wipes with me everywhere too 🙈

Ooh this is a great idea. I’ve got period pants so may start with these until I know where I am. Thanks x

@mummy2019 i weighed this morning I have lost 3lb too. How was your day with your friends? X x x

mummy2019 · 24/06/2024 09:47

@Becks2710 Well Done 👏🏼. That’s brilliant. It was good thank you. Did overdo it with some crisps and a takeaway - this caused some side effects but nothing that would’ve caused embarrassment or that. Weighed this morning and I’ve kept the 3lb off so right back onto it again today. How r you feeling? Xx

mummy2019 · 24/06/2024 09:48

@TimetoPour thank you so much. I just hope I continue this week and have another loss. Have you started yet? Xx

@mummy2019 I ended up at an impromptu bbq yesterday so decided to postpone until today.

I’ve just been for a walk then had my first tablet with poached egg on a crumpet. I’ve got a Tesco shop coming later and have tried to do a meal plan that should be easy to stick to. Good luck to you for this week.

mummy2019 · 24/06/2024 11:22

@TimetoPour yeah that was the best idea. Well good luck for today 😊. That’s good your organised for your week ahead also. Keep us posted on how your getting on x

Hi @mummy2019 How has your week been?
I’ve weighed in after 1 week- 3lb down! I’m absolutely delighted as it has been a week of parties. I’ve had two sets of birthday drinks and friends visited that I haven’t seen for 12 months, so it’s been more wine than usual! I’ve been religious about food though. Kept really low fat, resisted the crisps and nuts and have had no disasters. Quite the opposite if I’m being honest - I’m struggling to go. Did this happen at all with you?

mummy2019 · 08/07/2024 11:55

@TimetoPour Hey 👋🏻 so sorry for late reply. I was away with the family for a few days. How r u getting on? I haven’t been good at all whilst being away but I’ve managed to maintain. Well done on your 3lb loss. Yes, I was exactly the same and still feel a bit like that too. Has things eased up any for you?

mummy2019 · 08/07/2024 12:15

@Becks2710 hey how r u? How r u getting on with the tablets? Xx
