Just wondered if it works? I only have about a stone and a half to shift, but it's just proving very difficult - my self-control is shot.

I gave up with it all but to be fair I don’t disagree with it as a system. I just found the FB group pretty vile - there are some v rude posters in it and there is a lot of encouragement towards members who are clearly v overweight and not losing weight. It’s fine to be body positive but what I mean is enabling serious obesity which imo is not OK when the health risks are so serious.

I wasn’t a poster or frequenter of the FB but I did find it troubling.

Thank you @cardibach and @HowcanIgetoutofthisalive .
I've signed up to it now. Watched a video by I presume the woman who runs it and listened to 2 pods, one for weight loss and the other for stress. Will wait and see!
I've just been for a walk with the dog but hasn't had any effect on my appetite yet!! 😝. Just kidding, I know it will take time.

Really noticed it last year looking at photos on holiday, I now have a big saggy double chin as well as my fat stomach. Have no willpower now when it comes to snacks, especially chocolate. Going on holiday again soon so hoping for a bit of improvement!

Good luck! You need to go all in. Pods every day, do the other stuff she suggests (however alien it seems) and follow up any mad whim your mind throws out. I’ve done sea swimming and taken up cycling again (after 25 years) because I got an idea about it.

MassiveSaladDodger · 06/06/2024 18:08

It didn’t work for me, I signed up over a year ago and have made a few attempts seeing as I’ve already paid for it. That being said I don’t seem to be receptive/susceptible to subliminal messaging/hypnosis etc for weight loss, giving up smoking or anything else, beginning to wonder if I actually have a subconscious mind, if I do not much seems to get through to it 🤨

The bloke’s voice on the pods really irritated me which didn’t help and the Facebook group was most definitely not for me, agree with @Picoloangel that telling someone who’s 10 stone overweight and hasn’t lost any weight after several months (or years!) of ‘podding’ that they just need to ‘trust the process’ isn’t right IMO.

It obviously does work really well for some and it’s absolutely worth a try, but it’s not right for everyone and I think there should be more acknowledgment of that especially for anyone who’s health is at risk.

LetsHopeSo · 06/06/2024 19:29

I want to lose weight not just for vanity but also health reasons. Working in the NHS, I see so many people with Type 2 diabetes and cardiac diease.
I've had my glucose checked recently which is normal but my cholesterol is borderline normal, high cholesterol runs in the family.
So need to keep an eye as don't want to end up with issues caused by my lifestyle eg being overweight and bad diet.
I agree about not "normalising" severe obesity due to health issues it causes, not least to hips and knees.
I tried hypnosis many years ago and don't think it really worked either so will see if it has any effect!

Picoloangel · 06/06/2024 21:09

@LetsHopeSo
there was a phase where I felt it was doing something but the danger is that the “stop obsessing about food and eat what you like message” (which, to be fair, the PODs don’t advocate) leads to people believing they can eat v unhealthily and still lose weight. That’s how people end up cheering on others who are obese and that’s dangerous.

The PODs and videos do promote a healthy lifestyle with unprocessed food and plenty of exericse. It’s not a bad system it just attracts some weird people.

You sound as if you have the right mindset. Good luck and you’ve done something amazingly positive in trying to find a way towards a healthier lifestyle.

I am currently nursing a broken leg but have joined a thread on here committed to losing weight and I’ve found that really helpful. that’s another option.

cardibach · 06/06/2024 22:11

Nothing about it encourages eating unhealthily or cheering obesity, @Picoloangel

Picoloangel · 06/06/2024 22:14

@cardibach

I didn’t say that it did, I said that the FB community did.

Italiangreyhound · 06/06/2024 23:27

This is an interesting thread. I'm wondering about the 10 day free trial.

Picoloangel · 07/06/2024 05:56

@Italiangreyhound you have nothing to lose from the free trial. Although I am no longer following it I think for me it was a case of my having v little weight to lose and already leading a v healthy lifestyle, walking a lot, going to the gym etc. I had changed jobs and was less active. The advice was good but I already followed most of it anyway. I think for people who really need an overhaul and a different way ahead it can be good.

I am not anti it at all; I just found the FB group very odd and some of the posters are v rude to others. It was an odd dynamic.

Italiangreyhound · 07/06/2024 08:53

Picoloangel thank you.

I realise that - sorry if I wasn’t clear. Mind you, I’ve never seen that on Facebook either…

Tryingtofigurethingsout · 24/06/2024 13:47

I started on Slimpod recently and I think it's started to have a positive effect already. In fact, I just looked up my start date and it was only 6th June, which kind of blew my mind as I feel like my mindset has changed quite significantly already! I went on holiday last week and ate whatever I wanted to without worrying about it in the slightest, knowing that it would be easy to get back on it when home (as indeed it's proved to be).

I'm reasonably healthy already, but I've been through a pretty tough time over the last couple of years in particular, so I've definitely had issues with stress eating. I've been doing the ZOE thing for a while, which I've found helpful in terms of improving my overall diet, but I think I've learned and put into practice all I can from that now. I'm hoping that Slimpod is going to help with reducing evening snacking (and/or making healthier snacking choices) and eating smaller portions at mealtimes in particular.

I'm following the programme reasonably closely by listening to the pods, watching the videos and writing down three positive things about each day (I'd been thinking about doing the latter anyway as a mental health boost). However, I'm steering well clear of the Facebook group because there are some people in it who seem to have misinterpreted the Slimpod guidance entirely and are putting out some pretty inaccurate comments, which I didn't find at all helpful.

cardibach · 24/06/2024 13:50

I find the Facebook group quite helpful - yes, some posts are less than perfect but someone usually puts them right in the comments. I’m into extra now and that Facebook group is brilliant. Very little about food or weight in it - the focus has completely moved to activity, goals and mindset.
id advise you to follow exactly rather than reasonably closely though - things that were suggested that felt out of my comfort zone/wheelhouse such as goal setting have turned out to be really powerful.

Just joined, I’ve tried every diet under the sun. I had some success last year with intermittent fasting and low carb but it all went to pot at Christmas and I’ve put so much weight back on. I am getting so desperate and unhappy with myself as I’ve started to avoid going out unless I have to (work, school run etc). I’m starting tomorrow so will listen tonight. It does look positive, the only thing I’m disappointed in is it looks like they rely heavily on Facebook. Not on Facebook and have no intention of joining, hope this doesn’t impede the plan.

Good morning 😊
Wondered if you had success with slimpod?

Yogachick · 10/01/2024 18:29

I have. 28th Dec started. Last weighed 15th Dec .5th Jan I’d lost 1 1/2lb. Zero effort. I listen while I wait for my coffee to cool first thing in the morning as I found it woke me up at night. I’m eating smaller portions, less junk and am being consistent with my daily yoga practice and walking. My body image is improving though it will be a while before I unpick 44 yrs of self loathing. Did I mention zero effort. I was determined I would just listen, I do daily wins sometimes but I’ve just generally got a more positive outlook. Zero effort. But as with everything, early days. I’m determined not to obsess or restrict or any of the hundreds of things I’ve tried before. 9 mins fits in my day super easily. It’s not even been 2 full weeks yet

Interested to hear how it's going 6 months on? 😘

pinkyspromises · 25/06/2024 10:47

I gave up on it after a few months.

I think in theory it's great but i got fed up of listening to the pods. They interrupted my sleep too much

And the FB group has so many mixed messages , it felt like a diet group

Mich57 · 25/06/2024 14:28

Funnily enough, I had messaged a friend yesterday who has lost two and a half stone to compliment her... She texted back as I was in the middle of posting on here to say it was SLIMPOD 😆😳
She is the most pragmatic person I know so I've signed up without hesitation.... Worst case scenario - I trial it for up to 40 days and if it's not for me I get a refund 😌

Why did you continue listening at night if that was the case? It’s said over and over that you need to find what works. Anytime except when driving. The Facebook is bound to be a bit mixed as it’s just random people, but the comments always clarify.
Seriously. If you can’t find 9 mins to listen to a pod…. Do you want magic?

I’m 6 months in. 2 dress sizes down. More active. More positive. Just commit fully.

@cardibach

Sorry Sandra. I tried. We're all different

I got fed up of the pods and I have quite a busy day and drive a lot. So there never seemed to be a good time to listen

As you go to sleep? 10mins and it doesn’t matter if you drop off before it finishes. But no, nothing works for everyone. It’s worked for me though. 2 sizes down in 6 months and no stress.

pinkyspromises · 25/06/2024 19:27

Well done. That's great

I tried for 6 months . I got fed up of listening to the same thing evey day: it didn't have any effect on me

No, nothing can work for everyone. Good luck with whatever you try next.

SunshineonLeaves · 25/06/2024 19:52

I really like it, I’m still counting calories using Nutracheck but it’s encouraging me to make better choices. I’ve lost 4-5 lb over maybe 8 weeks so not loads but it feels like it’s making me think about food less and I’ve had times when I’ve looked at a biscuit/cake etc and just thought ‘I don’t want it’ whereas before I would have said what the hell.
