Has anyone tried Slimpod?

Just wondered if it works? I only have about a stone and a half to shift, but it's just proving very difficult - my self-control is shot.

@Inkpotlover - do you know, I'd call that a massive win! So you didn't finish the 12 weeks, never mind - it obviously worked for you before that. Amazing!

@Zazu44 - how are you finding it?

I've tried it and didn't get on with it. The pod recordings themselves are great and I listened to them as directed, but there are quite a few other things you're expected to do along the way, like eat avocado/spinach/broccoli every day or throwing away the scales, so even though it talks about ripping up the diet rules, there was still an emphasis on 'you MUST follow the steps to the letter or it won't work'. I found the process quite mind-consuming in the end, which is ironic because it's supposed to change how you think about food.

This is totally not my experience of it at all. I haven't thrown away my scales. I still weigh myself once a week ish. I certainly do not eat brocolli/spinach/avocado every day.
There are absolutely no 'steps' to follow. It is all advice. We all know that green veg is good for us so of course eating it is beneficial. But if you don't want to eat it then don't.

We all know that it is easy to become obsessive with getting on the scales and it can send us into a tailspin if we haven't lost weight. So it suggests taking them out if the equation if they have that effect on you and use other methods of measuring progress instead.

Slimpod is certainly not a magic cure
It is not a case of listen to the pods and watch the videos and you will instantly change your ways.

Yes you do think about food more. Which is a good thing. I find it helps me eat more mindfully.

I have lost 4 stone. Gone from a size 18/20 to 10/12. But I was in the right mindspace to do it.

mamatoTails · 11/03/2023 08:32

I've started today.
I've had a really good two weeks getting back into walking and exercising, but really need to tackle my diet and eating habits- picking- constantly picking! So this seems like it could really help.
Anyone else starting?

Congrats on your phenomenal loss,@Babana123! That is amazing. I do think, on reflection, I interpreted the advice as absolute – there were a lot of 'you won't lose weight if you don't do everything' comments on the FB group. I'm also an all or nothing person. But as OP says, maybe it has worked for me on some level, because I'm losing weight now doing what works for me.

Babana123 · 11/03/2023 16:10

@InkpotInkpotlover you are absolutely right about the fb page. I have dipped in and out of it but found it quite unhelpful and misleading at times.

Zazu44 · 12/03/2023 10:03

@Seriouslymole I'm finding it ok. I've listened to 4 nightly pods now and although I can never remember what he said it's obviously going in.
Yesterday

Zazu44 · 12/03/2023 10:18

Pressed send!!
I was on my own in the car and I would usually see that as a go ahead for binging out when no one could see me. I had half a caramel bar and put it away as didn't want it!!
That's a win for me.
AND this morning I did a 10 min Lucy Wyndham-Read HIIT workout!
I always say I will but I never do.
I feel that's due to Slimpod.
I'm not being fanatic about food and alcohol but mindful of it.
I'm looking at making long term changes and taking the stress out of being overweight.
Good luck everyone ❤️

Allmyarseandpeggymartin · 12/03/2023 10:24

For the op who mentioned binge eating I’d highly recommend “brain over binge” by Kathryn Hanson. Absolutely game changing. She has a podcast on Spotify by the same name too.
Love the idea of crisp Friday 😂

Hi - yes I started about three days ago. It seems to be having an impact already although I was very sceptical I have to say. I will carry on with it - although I need to be more on it with the writing down of “wins”.

OP posts:
Babana123 · 13/03/2023 16:31

@Seriouslymole I gave up writing wins quite early on. I know some people swear by them, but I was finding it too much of a chore. I still lost weight without writing wins. Positive thinking helped me. I just didn't need to write it down.

And the obvious question to this - has she lost weight?!

surely the obvious question is "is she on commission" ?

😂 I think that’s Herbalife you’re thinking of. I have to be honest, having been totally sceptical about this it actually seems to be working. I haven’t snacked between meals - not because I felt I shouldn’t but because I didn’t want to. I also got cheese and biscuits out for DH and myself (yes - myself is correct in this context even though it sounds horrible!) last night, put it on a plate and then thought “I really don’t fancy that” and put it all back. Roquefort, Brie and all 😮

Im on week 10 now

I don't think it's been a quick fix for me and ive lost about half a stone and stopped losing

But i will continue as i have faith it will work slowly over time

I feel more in control and liberated. I ate and drank loads this weekend but I haven't weighed or felt guilty. Just straight back to normal. If i were
On WW, id feel depressed and probably have weighed myseld

I have really stopped the processed food and junk and drink less now. I certainly eat healthy and have become very interested in nutrition

Well done on the cheese swerve! I've been thinking about it a lot since commenting on this thread and I do now think Slimpod is largely responsible for how well I'm doing now, so much so that I'm just going to occasionally listen to the pod to keep my subconscious topped up!

Half a stone in 10 weeks is brilliant, well done! Most dieters would be so happy with that. It sounds like SP is really working well for you in terms of giving you freedom from obsessing about food and weighing yourself.

newjobnewstartihope · 14/03/2023 19:11

Didn't work for me sadly

donteatme · 14/03/2023 19:48

@Inkpotlover

Thank you!

Seriouslymole · 17/03/2023 12:39

I have to be honest - I am finding this whole thing slightly spooky. I just seem to have lost my appetite for crap. I am not eating in between meals at all, which is v unusual for me. Took DS out yesterday (strike day) and wasn’t even remotely tempted by his ice cream or sweets - we did a 6 mile walk with the dog. I haven’t really lost weight but I am definitely eating less so I guess the weight loss will come.

OP posts:
Picoloangel · 17/03/2023 21:31

I’m going to try it! It’s not much of an outlay compared to other apps etc. my problem is that as soon as I have an injury or can’t go to the gym for any reason my diet just freefalls. I’ve been in freefall since before Xmas as I have an injury that isn’t improving. I need to break the cycle. I’ll report back!

Babana123 · 18/03/2023 08:57

@Seriouslymole sounds like you're doing really well. You must be so pleased.

That was how it worked for me. I've been doing slimpod for 7 months and probably had 10 biscuits in all that time. I was a packet a day girl before. I don't find myself missing them. I have a renewed love for lovely meals and snacking just doesn't seem to be on my radar.

Picoloangel · 18/03/2023 12:28

@Babana123 do you still listen to it
everyday?

Picoloangel · 18/03/2023 12:28

Yes I do. I have some eyemask earphones and play it when I'm going to sleep. Im normally asleep way before it ends.

Picoloangel · 18/03/2023 13:45

Thank you! I’m going to download it for the free trial and get started

Seriouslymole · 18/03/2023 19:34

@Babana123 - thanks - yes I am pleased - DH is taking the piss somewhat and says he is going to put it to the test and play me times tables at night and see if I learn them!

I've done the 12 weeks, all you do is listen to a few videos and a kind of self hypnosis track which i do whenever I can and combine with a power nap. I've lost the stone I've been trying to lose for 3 years. i am chuffed to bits. i did also manage to work out more than ever and cut down massively on my booze. the slimpod definitely helped with all that. just wondering now whether to continue to the next phase, anyone done that? slimpod extra i think she calls it.
