My sister in law thinks that getting drunk results in being thinner in the morning. I have not scientifically tested this.

For me, it's put curly wurlies in the fridge then have one slowly with a cup of tea for a 'treat'.

Mine is thinking about what I will look like in 12 months time if I stay on track

ThorFull · 04/02/2023 10:40

Literally the opposite! Stop drinking!

it’s been nearly 6 months. And those extra alcohol calories have resulted in really noticeable weight loss (plus better skin, and more energy and motivation to work out, so now I have muscle tone and flexibility, and I feel amazing!)

AutisticLegoLover · 04/02/2023 10:51

Stop eating too much.

heatdeath · 04/02/2023 10:52

Yet less often. The more frequently you eat (snack) the hungrier you are.

heatdeath · 04/02/2023 10:52

Ffs yet = eat

thistimelastweek · 04/02/2023 10:53

Cook from scratch

DalaiLlama · 04/02/2023 10:54

You might be lighter in the morning if you’re dehydrated.

My best tip for weight loss is just keep going. Don’t think you’ve blown it and start again next Monday. Keep going even if you’re not doing it perfectly.

determinedtomakethiswork · 04/02/2023 10:54

Find something else to think about apart from food.

honestlyno · 04/02/2023 10:54

A friend of mine gave up carbs for lent and the results were astonishing.

DeedlessIndeed · 04/02/2023 10:55

Don't eat before midday!

I have tried so many different "healthy" breakfasts and whilst they may be low cal, delicious, or nutritionally packed, they always make me eat more throughout the day.

I'm convinced breakfast "awakens" your taste buds and makes you think more about food throughout the day. Especially if you naturally over eat because you enjoy the process of eating and enjoy tasting new flavours etc.

TeeNoG · 04/02/2023 10:55

You might weigh less the morning after a big night, but that's purely because you are severely dehydrated.

Ultimately drinking excessively will make you gain weight as booze is laden with calories.

I'd second abstaining from alcohol as a great weight loss tip 😁

Slowsteps · 04/02/2023 10:56

Increase your protein intake, especially if menopausal

Danikm151 · 04/02/2023 10:56

Enjoy what you are eating and take time to taste it. This will slow you down and mean you can detect when you are actually full.

Agree with this. If I don't have breakfast I can go for hours and hours - if I have breakfast I'm hungry/peckish again within an hour or two

Lemonademoney · 04/02/2023 10:58

Don’t take snacks to work - at most I take a piece of fruit then have a wrap when I finish at one. Drink hot water regularly through the morning.

Many people do this as a fast. Only eating within an 8 hour window. (Intermittent fasting is the only way I've been able to lose weight.)

Otterock · 04/02/2023 11:03

Macros are just as important if not more so than calories. Balancing macros within a calorie limit was game changing for me. Lost a stone whilst eating chocolate on porridge most mornings!

doubleshotcappuccino · 04/02/2023 11:06

@DeedlessIndeed absolutely agree - only thing that's ever worked is that not eating before midday - even on the days I've not eaten as well as I would have liked I can't have done that much damage because only are for half the time ..4/5 dress sizes down and maintained if for years

MorrisZapp · 04/02/2023 11:27

I bloody love breakfast! I have allbran every day or as my dad calls it, 'super fast fibre' 🤣

I can't drop carbs. But I'm a big fan of having a small dinner and going to bed hungry. My granny swore by that too. Not for weight loss, she was an Aberdonian protestant and terrified of joy.

Calorie deficit and high protein.

yellowhedges · 04/02/2023 11:28

Go to bed early and prevent the evening munchies

Yes! And if circumstances allow, don't get up until its absolutely unavoidable. Nobody overeats in bed.

Do something first thing in the morning that gives you a hefty dopamine hit. For me that’s a CrossFit class or a cold water dip.

StuntNun · 04/02/2023 11:32

Never drink your calories. I think your brain doesn't register the calories from a mocha latte with vanilla syrup and whipped cream in the same way as it would from a doughnut.
