Lazy pig seeks other lazy pigs to lose 1lb a week.

Ok, this starts on Monday, as I have a steak pie and mash and yorkies to eat tomorrow. Will also heroically finish the Christmas chocolate so it’s out of the house. Once that’s all achieved, I’m good to go.

I need and must lose at least one pound a week until April. That’s about a stone.

Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Wrong. I’m basically fucking lazy, I hate exercise, hate going out in bad weather and am a total gluttonous food guzzling pig. And probably peri menopausal. And I sit at a desk all day. And a million other pathetic excuses why I’ve not shifted this weight in 2022 like I said I would.

I can’t be the only one who’s got sod all willpower, so who’s up to being fully accountable to this thread?

Lazy pigs like me especially welcome. Weigh in Monday morning.

I’m in, the LPHADP sounds like my ideal plan. Got roast beef dinner with all the trimmings later and left over Xmas pudding. I tried to weigh myself yesterday but the batteries in my scales have conveniently run out so I can stay in denial. Would like to lose a stone ideally. Planning to cut down on wine and do 3 yoga classes a week - that’ll do for starters.

mynameiscalypso · 08/01/2023 13:28

@whatausername Very wise advice. Don't want to peak too soon.

whatausername · 08/01/2023 13:31

I've not really done this before... will it get easier or worse as time goes on? I'm telling myself one stone but I'm secretly hoping once the momentum is rolling it'll end up 1.5 stone.

LazyPig · 08/01/2023 13:32

Is it worth trying the eggs and ham diet? Do the eggs have to be green?

whatausername · 08/01/2023 13:32

I don't need to be a tiny wee thing, I just want to be able to move more comfortably (and have a better HR & BP)

Too much green stuff is slightly frowned upon, as seen in the aforementioned salad-gate situation. So no.

Me neither, I’ll never be teeny tiny. I was 8st4 when I got married but it was too thin and too hard to maintain pleasantly. 15 years and two kids (and a few all inclusive holidays and a wfh job and a very piggy Xmas and peri menopause and trying to keep warm by lying under a weighted blanket eating bourbons) later I’m hurtling towards 11 stone. I’m 5’4”.

Would ideally like to be under 10 by Easter (then slightly over again because Easter eggs) then a few lbs after that I’ll be ok to go on holiday with Slim Sally.

I was reading in the paper today a nutritionist was saying it’s pointless to count calories as when you lose the weight it all goes back on. That’s not to say give up - he suggests trying to eat more plant based foods daily, giving up highly processed foods and moving more for the mental boost.

OP you’re right not to have the ‘deprive yourself’ mentality.

I’ve found a minimum of: walking everywhere, x2 swimming sessions and x2 cardio/ strengthening a week keep me in tip top shape. It becomes enjoyable if you keep it short and buy yourself nice gear to wear etc.

No willpower so chocolate, biscuits and crisps are generally never found in my home. Sweet treats are things like berries with cream or Greek yogurt.

Undisclosedlocation · 08/01/2023 13:48

Ooh this sounds exactly like my sort of diet tribe, can I join?
I almost started today by mistake with a healthy soup but I’m off out for birthday cake in a minute and promise to eat plenty of it. So hopefully I’m not kicked out before I start?
I don’t need to lose much - about half a stone. However this is the same half stone I’ve needed to lose for the last 4 years. The only reason I’m not putting on weight is an accidentally active lifestyle. Menopause is slowing me down now and that weight is going to catch me up quick if I’m not careful

🤣

There’s a lot to be said for eggs - I rely on them for protein and they’re so nutritious.

Stir fried prawns/chicken/salmon/fish with garlic, wilted spinach or broccoli/veg and brown rice is a great meal in the evenings.

No carbs after 6pm.

Mañanarama · 08/01/2023 13:54

”No carbs after 6pm.”

Woah there. Does it sound like any of us will manage that?! The NHS is stretched enough as it is without any of us needing carb related medical intervention.

Joking apart @misslonglegs i really want to be like you one day. As it happens, I do have quite long legs but a very short body, and in my head that’s why I’m chunky of midriff, nowhere wise for it to go.

Else, not wise, ffs. Fat fingers…. speaking of which…. my wedding rings are tight. Anyone know how much liposuction costs for just one finger?

🐷 oh hi drove, may I join?

I'm ready to not eat until I'm in physical pain. Just pure greed. I cba with calorie counting but I'm sure I can reduce my portions and not eat everyones leftovers.

About 3 stone/3 dress sizes to drop.

I'm so inactive it's scary. Average around 4k steps per day, even with walking the dog. He's no help at all though as we can walk 1 mile in an hour with all the sniffing he does.

I was a regular gym bunny for years but I managed to gain more fat as the heavier I lifted the hungrier I got... Strong with a layer of cushion!

Probably more than divorce, so think carefully first

Went to supermarket with good intentions and a meal plan. Even put vegetables in the trolley. Not too many, don't my body to go into shock if it encountered some vitamins.

Paid and came out feeling happy that there would be non-ready meal dinners this week. Then I remembered that I'm working away this week so there will be dinners out, wine and cake. Realistically there will be zero chance these aren't consumed as I have sensory issues and when out and about and have limited food that I can eat when overwhelmed. Ah well, baby steps and I now have a freezer full of proper food.

Mañanarama · 08/01/2023 15:29

Well done for having all the good intentions @BobBobBobbing, it’s half the battle. Or maybe a quarter of it, or a sixth, or something.

Although I'm on another thread, you all have exactly the same mantra as me. Its taken me till my 40s to learn that loosing weight will never work if I have to cut out chocolate, takeways etc. I have to just eat a bit less. Also find that drinking water and walking 10,000 steps a day works. I hate the whole January thing where its starvey time instead of xmas time and where all the supermarket gondola ends are full of weightwatchers soup. I recommend moderation, theres nothing worse than being told you need to totally overhaul your eating habits and eat from fresh etc.

Have fallen into a sharing bag of Aldi Roast Beef and Horseradish crinkle cut crisps. Thankfully it's before 6pm, eh?

@misslonglegs but brown rice tastes so, erm, healthy....

LazyPig · 08/01/2023 15:37

@Octopus45 you're lucky you have eight legs to manage those steps each day! I only have two so I'm clearly at a disadvantage.

Mãnanarama: 1lb a week is a good target, I think. That’s how I did my 3 stone, and by and large (quite large 😉) it was sustainable and I maintained well. Just had an indulgent few months.

But 1lb a week is roughly a 500 calorie deficit a day. So we have to show a bit of grit. We can do it!

I have made a start. Stocked up on healthy things that I like and told myself that 3.30 is NOT yet time for a snack when I didn’t have lunch til 2.

Mañanarama · 08/01/2023 15:46

”But 1lb a week is roughly a 500 calorie deficit a day. So we have to show a bit of grit. We can do it!”

What? What the actual frick? 500 a DAY? What? I’m doomed. What is that in biscuits?

Doyathinkhesaurus · 08/01/2023 15:49

I have been to the shop and purchased healthy things. A veg slice is in the oven with the fag end of the Christmas stilton in it. I'm exhausted but healthy lunch awaits! We are having creamy gorgonzola pasta for dinner. I will need wine. I may have bought too much cheese this year.

Oh that might be ok then. If I eat a few less biscuits a day and stop mainlining Lindt, I should still be on track?
