Lazy pig seeks other lazy pigs to lose 1lb a week.

Ok, this starts on Monday, as I have a steak pie and mash and yorkies to eat tomorrow. Will also heroically finish the Christmas chocolate so it’s out of the house. Once that’s all achieved, I’m good to go.

I need and must lose at least one pound a week until April. That’s about a stone.

Shouldn’t be too hard, right? Wrong. I’m basically fucking lazy, I hate exercise, hate going out in bad weather and am a total gluttonous food guzzling pig. And probably peri menopausal. And I sit at a desk all day. And a million other pathetic excuses why I’ve not shifted this weight in 2022 like I said I would.

I can’t be the only one who’s got sod all willpower, so who’s up to being fully accountable to this thread?

Lazy pigs like me especially welcome. Weigh in Monday morning.

@LazyPig lol. I I'm going with the few less biscuits a day etc idea as well, but not until mid week cause its my birthday tomorrow.

Gigglechop · 08/01/2023 16:00

Do you have a partner OP and / or kids?

are they overweight?
will they be supportive?
could you do some kind of very low level exercise together as a family?

SuzyQ12 · 08/01/2023 16:00

Can I join too please? I'm fairly active but a chronic snacker and cheese/carb addict, so need to work on that! Ideally I'd like to lose 2-3 stone, but I'm going to try and do it in several half a stone targets, so first target isn't quite as far away to reach as the elusive end goal!

mynameiscalypso · 08/01/2023 16:03

I popped into primark this afternoon and bought some new exercise clothes so I must automatically be fitter now, yes?

Yeah I have a super healthy really annoying husband who goes for a walk early every morning and eats fruit for fun. I know! I should probably LTB as this is mumsnet.

Kids are fine too and pretty active. It’s just me.

That's got to be at least 1lb in itself. And all the walking - Primarks aint small!

500 calories?? I think I'd rather be fat plays with a tyre and ponders

whatausername · 08/01/2023 16:25

Speaking of tyres, I think I might be a Reliant Robin. I've an uneven number of tyres.

StampOnTheGround · 08/01/2023 16:29

Fellow lazy pig reporting for duty, just demolished a huge roast beef dinner today!

Ummm, 500 calories fewer per day than you need to stay the same weight! That’s probably not too miserable

But nothing wrong with being happy with your tyres.

Cocolapew · 08/01/2023 16:38

I'm in, I'm not a total lazy pig because my 1 year old dog has finally decided to stop being a pully prick and walk properly on the lead so I do a couple of miles a day with her.
I was 13st 6lb in November and got down to 12st 11lb but have put 2lb on over Christmas.
I'm obsessed with blackberry and apple crumble with cream atm 🐷
I'd love to get a stone off, I'm not going to eat chocolate or sweet bready type stuff.

Ebananascroogey · 08/01/2023 17:01

A late to the party lazy pig here, but please can I join too?
I'm worried you are actually me OP seeing as we are the same height & almost exactly the same weight (so I'm secretly hoping you are me & will do all the hard work while I eat biscuits!).
My goals for the first week... no wine on a school night, no buying new snacks for the secret snack box in my home office & I'm only allowed crap for lunch on my office day this week - well I am going out for lunch with my office friends & food envy on my first week of being a slightly less lazier piggy wouldn't be fun!
Maybe I should go for 1/2 a lb for the first few weeks & then ramp it up? Wouldn't want to get disheartened 😁

TomAllenWife · 08/01/2023 17:25

I'm in 👍🏻

I have a stone to lose

I am also heroically finishing the M&S cheddar bake later with dips and the rest of the whole nut

My plan:
Walk 7-10k steps per day
2 weights/strength per week
1-2 cardio session per week
Starting pole fitness 🤔
More protein
Alcohol once a week unless special occasion

Inchstonesbeatmilestones · 08/01/2023 17:38

Can I join please. I've spent the last few years embracing my inner pig 🐷🐖 and now have about four stone to lose.

Last straw for me was new years eve when someone I've known since childhood said to me " you used to be quite thin, didn't you" ( eyebrow raised smug drunk look on his face, should have just oinked at him 😁).

Since then I've been trying to be more careful ( the Christmas cheese had already been eaten 😉) and get off my lardy backside and move more. Lost 4.2 lbs last week ( for some reason that .2 of a pound is really important to me!).

You sounds like my kind of people. Can't promise I'll post all the time, I'm a lazy pig after all, but will be great to support each other where we can.

LazyPig · 08/01/2023 15:35

Have fallen into a sharing bag of Aldi Roast Beef and Horseradish crinkle cut crisps. Thankfully it's before 6pm, eh?

@misslonglegs but brown rice tastes so, erm, healthy....

i know I know it doesn’t sound great but if you jazz it up a bit with stock, onions etc it can be quite nice 😆

HamFrancisco · 08/01/2023 17:50

Hello piggies! I’d like to join, I’m a whopper who should lose 4-5 stone.
I’ll have a think about eating 5 fewer rich tea biscuits a day.

misslonglegs · 08/01/2023 17:50

The carbs after 6pm is quite strict but it works for me because once I have a few crackers etc I find it hard to stop.

For me carbs are something I could never completely give up, they provide too much joy.

In the evenings, cheese, olives, fruit kinds of things are nice to nibble on.

Can I ask what time do you go to bed and what time do you start eating the next day? Desperately trying to defer the 6pm rule to like, 9 or 10pm, as I go to bed quite late and rarely eat again til lunch the next day (which, I’ll be honest, I’ve demolished by 11am some days)

Can I join? I have a LOT to lose and you all seem like my people! I love food too much and have to admit I eat when I'm bored, sad, happy..... Blush

I have a gym membership but get easily sidetracked and disheartened with the whole process so am aiming for little changes:
Less snacking
More movement

Once I've started then maybe I'll get more specific about the type of food and movement I do but honestly something is better than nothing at this point right?

whatausername · 08/01/2023 18:15

@BazingaBaby welcome! Something is absolutely better than nothing.

Which is why I'll never skip a meal ;-D don't want the hunger monster to strike!

PauliesWalnuts · 08/01/2023 18:20

Another perimenopausal piggy jumping on the porcine bandwagon (although I haven’t had a period for two months so may actually be menopausal - too early to tell).

I’m 50 and have 3 stone to lose to get down to 10ish by a wedding in September. Eat plenty of the good stuff but have a demon sweet tooth and no concept of portion control when it comes to carbs. Or anything. Also v bad at not eating breakfast and then cracking open the mid-morning breakfast chocolate.

Typing this with roast pork in the oven but cycling to work tomorrow. I do t mind exercise as long as it’s hiking, pavement bashing style walking or cycling, but it’s just so horrible to do in this weather.

LazyPig · 08/01/2023 18:22

@Ebananascroogey when you say no booze on a school night: what about Sunday? 😱

Ham - having a think about it is the first step. Thinking about reducing calorie intake reduces calories, surely?

SparklyThrow · 08/01/2023 18:24

I have some of these hand moisturising gloves that I wear all evening, which makes snacking difficult. Unfortunately I can still lift a glass of wine with them on.
