I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

Please can I join too? jump started the with the weigh in. BMI is 26.8. Means I need to lose about a stone to get under that and into 'normal' weight.

Did lose about 30lbs a few years ago, and have by and large kept it off, BUT this last couple of months there have been a lot going on.
Have had many a night out over Xmas, and two hotel stays and have not been as controlled as I have been in the past.

Have put on about ten pounds in just a couple of weeks!

Stared HRT a few weeks ago- no idea what will happen top my weight here but need not to use this as an excuse.

MFP and daily weigh ins are my usual methods. Walking and gym when I can.

Let's do this 😀

Ohyesthankyouglitter · 31/12/2022 11:14

Yep, I'm in! I imagine when I weigh myself tomorrow I will need to lose a stone. Quite excited to start. I'm going to walk everyday and cut out choc/crisps. I'm in the habit of nibbling.

Jfw82 · 31/12/2022 11:24

Another one joining. I've lost 1st in last year but really need to lose another 3-4st. I don't expect to do all in a year but aiming for another 2 this year and hopefully more. Upping the exercise by restarting couch to 5k plus better diet and less wine. I have Fitbit scales that log my weight in the app (and calc my bmi) so can't hide from progress (or lack) with that tracking me

Mumstheword2022 · 31/12/2022 12:12

hey @Jfw82

Fitbit scales! genius. Scary though- as you sy- you cannot hide. Been loving my Fitbit watch for a long time now so will dot a bit of research and buy one today for the first week's weigh in.

EddietheEagle · 31/12/2022 12:20

I weighed a few days ago, even though I haven't started yet as lots of Xmas food left. I was shocked as thought I was heavier than what the scales said. Expected to be well over 14 stone, but only 12 stone 12. Only r ally need to lose 2 stone so really happy with that.

JoyPeaceSleep · 31/12/2022 12:35

Nice surprise to be lighter than you'd expected.

But remainder christmas food, ha, yes, I felt like I'd lost my mind when I scraped almost a whole lemon cheese cake I'd made in to the compost. I had to, for my own sake. I kept just having a few mouthfuls every time I made a cup of tea.
I can resist roses and mince pies.

I'm aiming to lose 11 kilos. That will get me under 60. I'm only 156cm
I started yesterday.

What's everybody's plan? To kick start I'm doing under a thousand per day but making very low carb choices to make sure the food is filling but I will increase that in a few days. Just dying to see the figure go under 70.

JoyPeaceSleep · 31/12/2022 12:38

@Mumstheword2022 oh keep us posted on how the hrt affects weight loss. I'm not on it but I'm 52 and I'm the biggest now I've ever been but that's not all hormones! It's because I slipped in to not caring. And then I remembered, oh yeh! health! So my lethargy is over now. Before, when I've really decided to lose weight I have done so. Hoping that age/menopause doesn't change things that much.

JamesGetIn · 31/12/2022 12:41

Me please!

@HimiJendrix I could have written your OP. Excited and terrified to start but I have to. Also have a stunning wardrobe of clothes that I can't wear just now. Good luck everyone 🤞

KathyBurke · 31/12/2022 13:04

Hi, this is the op HimiJendrix. I changed phones yesterday and managed to get locked out of the Mumsnet app and couldn't log in so I've had to rejoin with a new user name.

Big day tomorrow, hello to everyone that will be joining me.

I have checked the battery on my scales and they are working.

I'm going to try and find my Fitbit now, it's been a few years since I've used it so it may not work, assuming I can find it.

EddietheEagle · 31/12/2022 13:11

My plan is using the WW app, as it works for me. I lost 4 stone before on this plan, I can use the app easily etc

Excited to start. Good luck everyone!

Oh and we are having a take away tonight as it's New Year's Eve, so this will in effect be the 'last supper' 😂

JoyPeaceSleep · 31/12/2022 13:12

Good, raring to go!

I'm going for a walk now. Not that I think walking speeds up the process much but an hour's walk will be good for my determination.
Off for a speedwalk lap of my area now.

I ordered a measuring tape and it came. I measured around my waist and if I make no effort to hold it all in it was 92 cm 36'' wow. I am in disbelief. Especially as most of my clothes are size 12 or size 14. I was too scared to measure my hips. Tomorrow. One shock at a time!

JoyPeaceSleep · 31/12/2022 13:14

@EddietheEagle enjoy the last supper!

EddietheEagle · 31/12/2022 13:17

@JoyPeaceSleep Thanks! 😆

I forgot to say, something else I do when I'm losing weight, is I'm vegetarian. I'm not usually vegetarian but I've found when on a calorie controlled diet it just seems to suit me and I lose more weight and feel much healthier, probably as I'm incorporating more veggies into my main meals.

HelloBunny · 31/12/2022 13:17

Me. Lost weight last year. Looked & felt great. Whacking it on again over Christmas... Not good. Any leftover rubbish is going in the bin!

KathyBurke · 31/12/2022 13:25

@EddietheEagle last supper for me tonight too. A very large three course one 😂

Hotsweatymomspagetti · 31/12/2022 13:26

Yes me! I need to loose a stone ideally 2!

Elerandooo · 31/12/2022 13:27

Will be joining in tomorrow! I had a baby in June 2021 and haven’t had the energy/willpower to sort myself out since. I have 2 stone to lose and would love to see it gone by my sons 2nd birthday.

Have a good shop being delivered this evening, lots of fresh veg and a little fruit. Bought some small bottles off Amazon to have a carrot, ginger and turmeric shot every morning as I’ve been unwell more than I’ve felt well this year! Also bought a 2 litre water bottle so I’m getting what I need in. Exercise will be a morning walk with my little one and then an hour or two on the Nintendo Switch doing Just Dance and Ring Fit.

Need to hunt out my Fitbit charger… which could be anywhere 🤔

doyouwanticewiththat · 31/12/2022 13:30

Yes please ! Started SW just before ChristmasHmm probably a bad idea but starting in earnest tomorrow or jan 2 nd, just need the chocs to be gone...need to lose a stone and a half but been trying to do that all year and it hasn't budged .need inspiration and support !

KathyBurke · 31/12/2022 13:30

I have found my Fitbit and it is charging and still works. Just about to download the app and see if it lets me sign in.

wizzler · 31/12/2022 13:33

I'm in. Need to lose 2 stone. Need to be in the right headspace to do it . First weigh in tomorrow.

dylgan · 31/12/2022 13:34

I'm in. I've put on a stone (at least) this year. I need to lose 5st. I currently do no exercise so plan to do some daily, even if it's only a few minutes.

rumbypumby · 31/12/2022 13:36

I'm in!

I did this in 2019 and lost 7 stone using my fitness pal and a Fitbit watch.

Fast forward through one global pandemic, my third pregnancy and the subsequent PND and it's almost all back on again.

Fitbit is charged, MFP is downloaded gain and I'm ready to go.

KathyBurke · 31/12/2022 13:44

@dylgan I need to exercise too, I have no excuse as I have a dog. Husband is the dog walker so I'm going to do one walk a day, even if it's just fifteen minutes.

I'm so full of excuses all the time. I'm going to try extra hard and make an effort.

Eggsley · 31/12/2022 13:45

I'm in, I need to lose the baby weight. "Babies" are 12 and 6 so not doing very well so far but haven't really tried very hard tbh. I'm the heaviest I've ever been and I'm annoyed with myself about it. I'm also annoyed that it's only me who can sort it out Grin

@NoNameIdeas I also turn 40 in January 2024 so want to shift some weight by then.

My plan is to do 10k steps a day (current average is about 3k), exercise for 30 mins each evening (currently don't do any exercise at all), cut out alcohol except for special occasions (I don't drink loads anyway so not sure this will make much of a difference) and eat more healthily (my diet is currently dreadful). And also increase the amount of water I drink and try to get a decent amount of sleep each night. DH is going to start his own healthier living thing too, so hopefully we will be able to support each other.

KathyBurke · 31/12/2022 13:45

@rumbypumby you lost 7 stone. That's so impressive. You can be our leader.
