1st January start, anyone up for it?

I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

I will use my fitness pal to track my intake although I can’t manage on the 1200 cal they suggest for me will probably aim to eat approx 1600 cal a day but to do something active everyday even a short walk and keep track of my steps/distance. I used to walk a lot and it is a virtuous circle I find the more I walk the more I want to walk.

GreekGod · 29/12/2022 20:45

I can't count calories - it drives me nuts and I hate it. In fact, it makes me more obsessed with food. I am doing Paleo with low carb and also throw in a bit of Intermittent fasting so that I eat for 8 hours in the day - that and a one hour walk during my lunch hour from 3rd January when I'm back at work should be a good start I think. If I can do that for 10 days, I am treating myself to a full body massage on the 11th day

JoyPeaceSleep · 29/12/2022 21:02

I've done low carb and I've done keto and I was never thinner but I dreamed about cake :D I fell off the wagon hard.

This time round I'm going to try and make low carb choices but I will definitely be watching calories too.

Just ordered a measuring tape. I will finish scaring myself.

unicornsandchocolate · 29/12/2022 22:26

I would like to join too. I have two stone to lose. It's been creeping on since lockdown and now I'm struggling to get into my clothes. I am going to calorie count using MFP and do dry January and take it from there. I have lots of things to look good for coming up, but I also want to start looking after myself better in general. I am going to be doing Sunday weigh-ins.

Daisychops · 29/12/2022 22:26

Hi, can I join please, got at least 4 stone to lose, probably more when I get on the scales!

IDontCareMatthew · 29/12/2022 22:52

3 stone to lose as I lost 4 this year using Saxenda.Maybe just 2, will see as I go

Biggest problem is I've gone from a physical job to a more sedate job.

I'd like to get outside more as soon as spring springs! 🌸

Two days to go!

JoyPeaceSleep · 30/12/2022 10:39

I am lucky to be off work for a bit now so I can eat eggs or whatever else I want to do. At work, I need to bring something normal/packable/edible!

So, what plan are we all doing? I'm aiming for low calorie but with low carb choices. I can't do keto again, it worked but omg I've never fallen off a wagon so hard.

Whatever we aim to do, it has to work psychologically! Like some days, maybe I'll be sick of eggs and salad and tuna and it might be three weight watcher bars and a can of diet coke that gets me through it. I know healthy food is best obviously but there are going to be days where I have to cling on! So, I'm not the perfect dieter.

JoyPeaceSleep · 30/12/2022 10:40

Bit premature but Weight 70.5 kilos this morning, Height 156 cm. Goal - to get inside the ''normal'' band.

Completely agree with this - some days I know I’ll need food which isn’t typically ‘diet’ food but I know diets have never worked for me so cal counting and exercise will hopefully be the way forward!

Hi Everyone,

I have 3 dress sizes to lose. I've dabbled with weight watchers in the past but last year signed up to nutracheck and have used that every now and again. I've renewed my membership and ready to start again in the new year 😊

JoyPeaceSleep · 30/12/2022 11:14

I have thought about signing up to WW, I know it's all changed. I think I remember what ww used to be decades ago, it was pretty sensible but maybe I'd allow a little bit more fat. do you feel guided and supported or a bit pressured to follow one specific set of rules?

I may hold off for now but if I need the support I'll think about ww. I think I'd quite like to go to a meeting in a school hall! With people. Is it all online now?

iamenough2023 · 30/12/2022 20:50

This is @movingon2022 with a brand new name for a brand new year. 😁I have been trying this whole year to lose about 1 stone. My biggest enemy are carbs and sugar and also snacking late at night. My goal is to cut bread and pastry, all sugar except in fruit and limit alcohol to weekend only. Drink more water and tea, walk more. I am not a friend with exercising but I love yoga and I go to 2-3 classes a week. Cannot do it at home, I am afraid. I do believe in counting calories, so will try that as well.

Mommabear20 · 30/12/2022 20:56

Me!!! Had Third DC at the end of November and am desperate to shift my baby weight! Was 9st pre children, haven't weighed myself since I got pregnant with my fist in 2019, but will weigh myself on Sunday to give me an idea of how much I have to lose!

Threeboysandadog · 31/12/2022 02:47

I’d love to join you all. I’m an absolute mess at the moment both physically and mentally I would like to lose 6 stone this year. I have an entire wardrobe of clothes (many never worn) to accompany me on my journey. In fourteen months I will be 60 and unless I do something soon it will be downhill all the way from here on in.

I plan to count calories and lowish carb for now. I have an online shop coming tomorrow with healthy options and party food for everyone else.

PennyPearl · 31/12/2022 02:54

100% I need to lose 6st (yikes) but I'm fairness to me I've put it on from having two babies and a bereavement so giving myself benefit of the doubt until Monday and then it's time to sort myself out.

Plan is to have between 1200-1500 cals a day.
Drink water and only water throughout with maybe a treat of diet soda on a Sunday.
Going to a restaurant with husband once a month for a treat.
Gym twice a week swimming and treadmill with incorporating weights eventually
Walking at least an hour when not at the gym (might be a bit hard as still got pelvic girdle but starting physio next week)

I really want to lose the majority for September as hopefully with be starting my nursing degree🤞

Gobimanchurian · 31/12/2022 02:57

I'm in. Need to lose about 3 stone. Looking for inspiration as to how... starting with dry Jan 😬

Philandbill · 31/12/2022 03:00

I'd like to join you all too please.

Hello to anybody else joining in!

I bought a digital scales and I'm finiding it motivating! I was 70.5 yesterday and I'm 70.4 today. That is a difference that would have been imperceptible on my old scales, so I'm glad I got this new digital one.

EddietheEagle · 31/12/2022 10:03

Yes, me!

EddietheEagle · 31/12/2022 10:04

How is it going to work? Will we weigh in on the same day each week?

IDontCareMatthew · 31/12/2022 10:21

I'm a daily weigher and use an app to record it

I'm no longer taking saxenda ( can't afford it) so I'm on my own. My problem is poor prepping/planning...get home from work and eat something I shouldn't

DontbesuchanarseGlenda · 31/12/2022 10:22

May I join please? Think I have about 2 stone to lose but will confirm after the dreaded weigh in tomorrow. I have always been very accepting of my fluctuating weight but at 47 it feels a little now or never. The Christmas tub of Roses is nearly empty so I’m good to go 😁

Majorityofthree23 · 31/12/2022 10:27

Definitely need this. Did brilliantly in the first half of last year and felt great then it all fell apart. Time for a reset.
