1st January start, anyone up for it?

I can't put it off much longer, I am getting very large and uncomfortable. My eating has become very out of control.

I need to shift around 4 stone, not sure exactly as I am to scared to get on the scales.

Anyone want to join me for a big new start and weigh in on Sunday 1st January?

I think it's good to stop yr body getting used to diet rations. My metabolism has adapted. I'm merely maintaining on 1200 :-(
I'm definitely certain I'm only having 1200. I read labels, weigh, double check, I l search, I check it makes sense, I log.
.

My goal now is to very slowly add about 25 to my 1200 per week, so I'm making my self up it. Now instead of getting to end of day and congratulating myself for coming in 50 under, I'm eating walnuts to bring it up. Will check weight next Sunday and if its still 68.5 then I'll add another 25 the following week. Cautiously.

When I've got my maintenance cals up to about 1400 (fantasy?) then I'll try dieting every third day for the slowest diet in the world. Seem how that goes

I have just walked in from work and demolished half a share size bag of popcorn. I have now made myself a peppermint tea as, once that taste is in my mouth, I don't think I'll be able to eat the popcorn and I am reminding myself that popcorn is better than crisps. But I want to eat more mindfully for the rest of the weekend!

sylv165 · 04/02/2023 09:31

@2023istheyearigetmyacttogether I find Friday nights so hard! As soon as I finish work I feel the need for a takeaway, chocolate and wine! I did have the wine yesterday, but had a healthy(ish) homemade curry, wholegrain rice and no chocolate. Don’t seem to have lost anything this week, but not gained either so just keeping on with it!

xJoy · 04/02/2023 12:52

JoyPeaceHealth here, finally finally lost half a kilo. stepped on scales this morning expecting it to have gone up and I am 68 kilos. So this is the first time I weigh less than I did on the 10th January!

I am still working on pushing my cals up from 1200 per day but I am thinking of doing the 5:2 but I do not want to increase my cortisol so I will not do an actual fast, just 700 calories

xJoy · 04/02/2023 12:56

I find Friday nights hard too! I had that ''oh i give up'' feeling last night, so I did have pizza and wine. Weird that I saw a result this morning, but overall I've been very careful.

@HereComesMaleficent I meant to say that I found your post really heart warming. How wonderful to show your love for your mum in that way. I need to have a conversation with my dad but would have felt a bit hypocritical having piled on the pounds myself

Thank you, I think with some support and us keeping each other on track she has a better chance. I want her around for many more years yet. I love her dearly (obviously) Haha.

I've had a good week, avoided the Saturday and Friday night binges that normally happen. Weigh in day is tomorrow and I'm just hoping more so for mum than me the scales show progress. I shall report back.

For those that had a hiccup, don't panic, life is life and sometimes we just need that treat, life goes on and tomorrow is a new day.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 05/02/2023 14:21

Hello folks. I missed posting for a bit. I had two weeks of no loss. These weeks did feature meals out for various reasons. I think because I am not cutting back intensively, if I do have a day or two off it really makes a difference and cancels any small loss.

Anyway, more pleasing figures this week:

This week's loss: 2lb

Total loss: 7lb

Start weight 13st 12

Current weight 13st 5.

That's a half a stone off, and a point off my BMI since Jan 1st. Unfortunately I can't see or feel a difference, but you can't lose 2st without losing half a stone first!

HereComesMaleficent · 06/02/2023 20:28

I lost 2lb, so pleased with that.

And overjoyed about mum who lost also. She's really motivated to keep going!

A very happy Monday evening!

sylv165 · 09/02/2023 08:04

How is everyone getting on? I’m still here, working away on the worlds slowest diet! Total weight loss of 2lbs in 6 weeks (or 4lbs if you count the 2lbs I instantly gained!). A drop in the ocean, but I have been exercising away and do think I am starting to feel slightly more toned so that is progress!

scaredysquiggle · 09/02/2023 14:24

Start weight: 10st 10
Week 1 10st 5.4
Week 2 10st 5.4
Week 3 10st 4
Week 4 10st 4
Week 5 10 at 2
This week's loss: 1.4lbs
Total loss : 6lbs

Inches lost from Jan 1st to Feb 1st

2 inches from hips and 1 inch from waist

It's been slow weight loss the last few weeks but I'm very happy with the inches lost and I've been exercising hard at the gym and people have commented on how I look. So I'm going to keep at it.

xJoy · 09/02/2023 19:01

@sylv165 no, you're on the world's second slowest diet!
I'm still carrying on carrying on. I want to see what I weigh on the 10 feb as that will have been a month since I plateaued. I did a few 800 days but ate more on the normal days. So I'm experimenting, trying to find something that works. nothing yet

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 10/02/2023 07:28

Morning
Like others, I'm still plodding on. I definitely don't have the January zeal any more but at generally trying to exercise more and eat less.
Just weighed and I'm down to 11st2 which is 9lbs off in total. That's about 4kg and, whilst 4kg isn't my heaviest dumbbell, I notice it when I pick it up IYKWIM. Now I just need to lose the other one in the pair!
We don't have too many plans over half term so I'm hoping to keep disciplined as I really want my weight to be 10 something by the end of the month
@xJoy as I've said before, I once went 7 weeks on a plateau. It's so demoralising and I'm really impressed that you're sticking to it

xJoy · 11/02/2023 11:46

@2023istheyearigetmyacttogether thanks! I think it's partly fear of getting bigger that keeps me going. 9lbs off is great! In less than two months! 7 weeks, wow. Glad I'm not the only one.

I'm going to weigh in tomorrow morning and I would like to see the figures just creep down a tiny bit. No big expectations but pleeeease, just go slowly in the right direction!!!!

I read somewhere that if you have a plateau, to consider it practicing maintenance and that helped, that really got through to me because maintenance is where I've failed in the past. I've always succeeded losing the weight but it always went back on at some point. I think I've accepted this is going to be slow.

I see myself as being in this gig for a whole year or forever, although this is a mighty long time! and I still have hope that I'll get to the end of the year having lost some weight.

Since 1st Jan I've had about 5 evenings where I 'let go' but I had eaten carefully during the day and been careful again the next day. I don't think that's enough to sabotage myself as before, I was just in 'let go' mode all the time.

xJoy · 12/02/2023 11:04

Oh boy, weighed myself, lost nothing. 68.4 Still no further on than I was on the 10th Jan. I just cannot believe it. I have been reading labels, weighing, logging, strategising! I even did two 800 days in the last week, but of course, eating healthy food. I just cannot fathom how my body is breaking the laws of science. Unless it's not. This must be enough calories for my body and to lose weight, I'll have to eat less. But if I do that, it's not sustainable. I guess my plan is to keep going, I'll do two days at 800 for the next few weeks and see if that works. Normally there'd be an immediate effect. But nothing. No effect at all.

xJoy · 12/02/2023 11:05

Hope my posts not bringing in negativity. I'm still rooting for you all!

xJoy · 12/02/2023 11:08

I've put on 0.4 of a kilo even though I did two 800 'fasts' Confused
HOW

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 12/02/2023 15:38

Sigh.
A pound on here. I haven't had a great week, so felt no loss would have been reasonable, but a gain feels harsh, especially as I've made an effort to get moving more.
On I plod!

GlumShoe · 13/02/2023 08:03

Hi everyone,
I'm back after going AWOL for a couple of weeks. We've relocated to new premises at work and it's been hard! I feel 10 years older. I haven't been sticking to plan rigidly but I have kept an eye on my diet. Over the weekend I've tried to get back on track and I've lost 2lb since I last weighed in. So that's 5.75lb since January 1st. I'm happy enough with that. It's heading the right way.
Hope everyone has a great week 😊

Hereforthedramaz · 14/02/2023 10:25

Right I'm back to it today after having started off well this year and then having weeks of not focusing and making a lot of poor food decisions.

Back to using a food diary and more dedication to completing C25K with the aim of getting back to parkruns.

I'm also taking a tour of a fancy gym on Friday which if I join I'm hoping will motivate me.

But mostly I just need to a avoid bloody mini eggs!

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 15/02/2023 08:28

I'm feeling better for coming back to the thread and realising I'm not the only one whose fallen off the wagon a bit.
Weekend was spent meeting up with various friends & eating out so lots of extra calories eaten and very little exercise done. Then I got my period yesterday so Mon & Tues were spent eating carbs & anything sweet. I've woken up feeling human this morning and, with it being half term where we are, I don't need to ferry the children around quite as much so am hoping to have a strong second half of the week and start losing some weight again. At the moment, there's a risk my end of Feb weight will be the same as end of Jan.

xJoy · 15/02/2023 21:25

I might chance a weigh in tomorrow

lorisparkle · 17/02/2023 07:21

It has been such a struggle. I lost a bit then went back up but have started losing a couple of pounds again. What is most frustrating is that DH has lost over a stone.

Now the evenings are getting lighter I might try and go out for a run one evening a week.

xJoy · 18/02/2023 08:56

Yeh, I was just thinking of ordering a new pair of trainers for the same reason.

I am not losing weight. This is mystifying me but I'm still keeping going for experimental reasons, for health, for fear of nudging 12 stone if I let go again. I'm 5'1" 68.2 kilos. I've been up and down in 68 something for over a month. I just have to focus on health and not getting bigger.

xJoy · 18/02/2023 15:27

I'm doing a fast800 day today, have pushed cals up to 1300 on a normal day. This must be about my 5th fast800 day, no visible results yet but will keep going so I can be certain it's not working before I feel sorry for myself!
