Not playing with the kids like I want to, never going swimming, never having my picture taken. Cant wear the clothes I want to, miss out on activities I would do if I wasnt worried, Sooo unfit.

My list goes on and on but I can stop there as I bet you know what I mean if you are reading this.

Feel free to join me in my mission to reclaim life as a person who doesn't think about the swing breaking or getting stuck on the slide. Being able to take the stairs without being breathless at the top and take a family picture without the dread.

The short term struggle will be worth the long term effects...

(if no one replies I plan to write here anyway and stay on track)... thanks.

I will join you
I very slowly lost weight in the last two years 50lb
Very happy with that
I maintained for 11 weeks
I KNOW I will have put on during December
I plan to start on 29th December not the first I won't do it as new years resolution as I never carry them through
I will just eat smaller portions and reserve calories for an evening treat which is usually a couple of square of very dark chocolate and a reduced calorie hot choc

CoffeeAndCosyReads · 26/12/2022 03:45

I'm keen to join in with you!! I've got about 2 stone to loose and would really like to push and motivational support to do that.

I did sign up to slimming world online last month (I know stupid time of year to choose that) and I think I've only stuck to it 20% of the time, so it's just money gone down the drain 😔

clpsmum · 26/12/2022 03:50

Can I join please

clpsmum · 26/12/2022 03:50

I have six stone to lose 😢😢

Daftmum47 · 26/12/2022 04:53

I have 3.5 stone to lose: eat too much, drink too much, don’t exercise enough. Perimenopause too and I think a touch of long Covid. Have to take things in hand now x

stoptheasshat · 26/12/2022 05:01

Me too. I'm ashamed of how fat I've become. I know people's perception of me professionally would be significantly improved if I slimmed down - harsh but a fact,
I avoid things because I'm overweight and have no self control with food. I know what I need to do but need give have a serious word with myself and get on a bloody diet!
Let's do it!!

FTY765 · 26/12/2022 05:09

I'll join you.
I feel so unhealthy.

FangedFrisbee · 26/12/2022 05:13

Joining. May change names but I will be here all year! This year is my year

summerlovingvibes · 26/12/2022 06:03

Joining in. Young children, exactly this re : play. What have I done to myself?! Don't even have any batteries in my scales, don't want to know the answer. Realistically I will start on 30th as have lots of family stuff the next few days.
Need to get healthy and fit.
Need to eat more fruit, stop secret eating, stop eating crappy snacks in between meals.

Got a lot of left overs Christmas stuff.... need to not eat it for the sake of eating it...

Brunilde · 26/12/2022 06:09

Can I join, I have 5 stone to lose.

One thing though, be in the photos. Don't look at them if you don't want to, I hate it too. But your kids will treasure them at some point and when they are all grown up so will you. You won't care if you were overweight when you're in your 80s.

Britinme · 26/12/2022 06:10

Joining in. I got up to almost 16 stones. No idea what that is in kg but it's 224lb. I've lost 30lb over the last year, but stalled since the summer and haven't weighed over Christmas. My plan is to start again on January 1st, not because it's a resolution but because it's a Monday after this busy week when I have my son and his family visiting, and that's the day they leave.

Accioroxypops · 26/12/2022 06:13

Can I please join? Maybe joining in and trying not to do it on my own will help.

BCBird · 26/12/2022 06:25

I lost 10.stone and it changed my.life. I have put 4 back, bereavement and health issues amongst other things. Planning on trying again.in January. Itbwas wonderful no.longer being invisible. I had my first relationship, fell in love,he fell out of love a d it ended. A while later I met someone else who died after 2 years. The positives were great, the onli sad thing for me that the opposite sex did not find me invisible any more but as I said, I was essentially.the same person. Looking forward to a healthier me and being able to wear all of my clothes again. Good luck all.

AlwaysColdHands · 26/12/2022 06:43

Hope it’s ok for me to contribute here as someone who has lost several stone this year: I would absolutely affirm that the effort and challenge is totally worth it in buckets.
Running after my 3 yr old now is easy and fun. I climb all the stairs, all the time. People at work seem to perceive me differently. I’m able to wear clothes without a second thought.

I tried to think of it as acting and eating responsibly rather than restrictively. It helped me to treat it as a project to begin with, and then my habits and elements of my life have changed radically.

wishing great luck to those of you who are resolving to get healthier and lose weight. The benefits are immeasurable.

AperolWhore · 26/12/2022 06:57

Speaking as an ex 21 stone fatty, I can confirm losing the weight is life changing and you’ll never look back.

Yes, it’s hard and you might struggle but please do this for you, your kids and family 💕

Slimming world was my go to and I still loosely follow it now 10 years after losing the weight xx

Finalcountdown2022 · 26/12/2022 07:10

I am going to join too. When you go on holiday and worry that the seatbelt won’t “do up” you know things have gone too far.
I am in it for the long haul so just going to make sustainable improvements and chip away at things rather than the whole feast or famine existence that is very rarely sustainable.

tomorrow’s goals - go for a walk no matter the weather
drink water regularly
make healthier choices at breakfast

dudsville · 26/12/2022 07:15

Just posting to say good luck to everyone! Last December I decided I needed to lose 30 pounds in 6 months, trying to go from 13 to 11 stone roughly. I'm older and peri (only 6 small periods last year) and it's been so much harder then I anticipated. I've only lost 15 pounds and I've realised it's going to take much longer than I had hoped, and having a deadline demotivated me - after the first 6 months i gave myself another 6 months and still "failed" when the reality is I did lose 15 pounds. So now I'm in it for the longhaul journey. I've put my scales away. I've changed my lifestyle for the better - 16:8, smaller portions, less wine, a better understanding of calories and what I need to eat to lose/maintain/gain. Food was always reasonably good quality but it's better now. I never was one to lose control with sugary treats but I have reduced this as well, and I'm much more mindful of stopping eating things I'm not enjoying. Over the later end of 2022 I got to grips with managing hunger - to the point where I was able to do some fast days - that taught me a lot. I didn't reach my goal, but in grateful for the positive lifestyle change and expect it to pay off in the end. Good luck to you all!

Lesina · 26/12/2022 07:39

Im in. I need to lose 3.5 stone. I am planning water, walking, swimming and ditching the demon drink. My drink of choice is lager….. I may as well pour sugar down my gullet. So it’s going. Overall I am to be healthier, stronger and leaner. :)

ChesterDraws4Sale · 26/12/2022 07:40

I’ll join you. Last time I went to the theatre I got bruising on my hips because I was so squashed in the seat.

Emelene · 26/12/2022 07:55

I need to join too. Want to lose a little over 2 stone…
Any advice on how to do it? I’ve done slimming world twice, first time (after first baby) worked well, second time I found I struggled more, so I’d like a different approach.
My problem is sweet food. I just eat too much, find it hard to resist. Meals are not too bad.

bigbells · 26/12/2022 07:59

I'd like to join. Since having my baby earlier in the year I don't recognise myself anymore. I definitely have issues with food and use it as a comfort. I eat way too much processed rubbish and I'm greedy with it. I hate the way clothes look on me now. I've done it before a few times and always put the weight back on again but from January I really want to make this a permanent lifestyle change.

TerfOnATrain · 26/12/2022 08:05

I’ve done two stone since 3rd September but I have another two to go. I’ve stayed the same weight during December and I’m ok with that as there have been around six days of parties, drinking and eating.

Im off for a long walk today and then back on it properly tomorrow. No plans then until a weekend away at the end of February.

TerfOnATrain · 26/12/2022 08:06

Sport, I mean I’m joining too.

@Emelene - Sweet food was my problem too. I would encourage you not to outright ban any food as if you do that you are going to make the situation so much worse from a psychological standpoint. What I did was I swapped everything I liked for smaller versions, for example double twix for single twix. I did not buy more than I would be happy for myself to eat before the next shopping date. I also upped my fruit intake and added more greens to my diet at the same time. Honestly there were a few rough days where I had to rely on willpower but I acclimatised inside a week. 6 months on I rarely have chocolate cravings any more.

SnowAndIceLobelia · 26/12/2022 09:42

I'd like to join if I may.

I am about 3 stone overweight. My knees and hips are very badly affected and i avoid all outside activities with the DCs. My parents are visiitng in 3 months (first post covid visit) and they are extremely critical of weight which has played a major part in my eating disorders over the years. I just want to sort things out, be sensible 'eat like a normal person' and get in shape. I want to change my life FOR life.
