Not playing with the kids like I want to, never going swimming, never having my picture taken. Cant wear the clothes I want to, miss out on activities I would do if I wasnt worried, Sooo unfit.

My list goes on and on but I can stop there as I bet you know what I mean if you are reading this.

Feel free to join me in my mission to reclaim life as a person who doesn't think about the swing breaking or getting stuck on the slide. Being able to take the stairs without being breathless at the top and take a family picture without the dread.

The short term struggle will be worth the long term effects...

(if no one replies I plan to write here anyway and stay on track)... thanks.

Morning all!

Day 2 for me. i weighed in and am ecstatic to be 12 stone 9.4 pounds. Last time I weighed I was circa 13 stone 3 (in the summer) so I am feeling very pumped up and positive.

So again my aim is to have two serves fruit/veg at each meal and to have calorie free drinks. And watch portion sizes and use my portion plate. It's looking a bit the worse for wear (been in the dishwasher a bit too often so I might even treat myself to a new one).

Hope everyone has a lovely day!

Soproudoflionesses · 28/12/2022 08:50

I lost 3 stone by letting myself have a "treat" every day- never felt deprived and if there was something l wanted, l told myself l could have it as tomorrow's treat- need to do this again as it is the only thing that has ever worked for me

This is a really good tip!

I am a abit all or nothing then get dispirited. I think I will try this.

Morning all, may I join? I've just ordered some scales from amazon. Busting out of my clothes and have decided today enough is enough. I've been in denial about how much I've gained, have just been buying bigger and bigger clothes. Today is day 1 !

Try it for a month, see how you get on. Sometimes my treat would be chips with my dinner - or a glass of wine - wasn't always something sweet. Never wrote anything down or tracked calories so was very easy to do
Good luck xxx

Hi. I’d like to join too please.

My reasons are the same as many of you. I want to be healthy and happy for my child. And to be a good role model and not someone she might feel embarrassed about. I want to be more confident at work. I want to enjoy wearing clothes. I want to be ok having photos taken. I don’t often have my picture taken but there was one from Christmas Day of me at the dining table with my SIL. She’s so slim and elegant and I looked like a giant monster in comparison. I seriously look like I was about to eat her or something.
I’m 40 now so I know losing weight is only going to get harder from here.

I love the WAHPET mantra. And Also the idea of ticking off a ‘healthy’ day. I’ll print off a chart for that later.

I’m going to go with a clean eating approach as much as I can I think. Ive been drinking too much so I’ve downloaded the drink free days app and I’m setting myself goals on that. I will replace wine with books. I’ve got an exercise bike which plan to use 5 mins a day for the first week and building up to 30min sessions 3 or 4 times a week.

I don’t know how much I’ve got to lose (around 4lb?) but will weigh myself weekly. My first goal though is to fit into a lovely pair of pyjamas I was given for Christmas. They’re just a tiny bit too small so I’m hoping they’ll be comfortable by the end of Jan.

Im going to start properly on the 1st as Im away this weekend.

Good luck to everyone!

Can I join too?
This time last year, I was 11st6, vowed to lose a stone to get back to a healthy BMI, yo-you'd the same three pounds and have ultimately ended up at 11st10.
My problems are procrastinating when it comes to exercise but the complete opposite when it comes to eating - food is in my mouth before I've even registered it sometimes.
It will be worth it for all of the reasons you've already set out. I've got a big event in mid-March for which I have a particular outfit in mind and will either be going for a promotion or job hunting this summer and know my chances will be better if I'm slimmer.
We're socialising quite a bit over the next few days so I won't start until next week in earnest but I can at least try not to do more damage.
What are you all planning on doing?

Ivchangedmynameforthis · 28/12/2022 19:31

3 stone ish to loose here. Signed up to do a health and nutrition course in the new year just to change my mindset. For the first time in my life I'm repulsed by how I look and feel.

Britinme · 28/12/2022 20:19

I've lost a couple of stone over the last year but stalled in the last four months. I need to lose at least another couple of stone - maybe three. Starting on Monday - too much socialising/stuff to use up until then.

SameMeButBetter · 28/12/2022 22:52

Ok. So after giving it all the talk I am just going to wait til the 2nd and start with dh... We didn't get to have our Xmas meal due to illness so we are now having a do over on Friday and there's still far too much temptation around to get my head straight. The kids will be back to school and the world will be back to order so why make it difficult for myself.

I do have a good feeling this time round though. Maybe it's reading all these amazing posts seeing others that have done it, or maybe it's knowing I have a thread I can ramble on when I need to and I've never thought to do that before.

Or maybe it's my printed out checklists that dh has told me I can't buy a laminator for.. the power of doing a big old tick is so satisfying!

I've already got the shire to bree medal!! www.theconqueror.events/lotr/

SnowAndIceLobelia · 29/12/2022 06:25

Love ticking things off!

I love the WAHPET mantra and also I have decided to repeat to myself when i get dispirited' Trust in the process'. A bit of exercise, a bit of cutting down, no crazy eating patterns- it will all work out. It;s simply biology!

I did okay yesterday. We were at the pub and I had a 'light bite' rather than a meal. Peri chicken strips and salad. And diet lemonade. In the evening I had a medium bowl of minestrone and only one slice of garlic bread, not 3.

I am getting back to swimming before work in the NY. I work from home 3 days a week so can do a 30 minute swim beforehand fairly easily as the pool is near the DCs school.

Onwards and downwards!

2023istheyearigetmyacttogether · 29/12/2022 10:51

I've just signed up for Nutracheck as I never found MFP that easy to use.
I've been going around the kitchen weighing apples & bananas and things to see if I what I think is a medium one accords with them and have also measured how much milk I put in tea & coffee. I think one of the ways I have messed up before is overlooking things like that. My plan is to record everything - including scraping the cake mix bowl just now - so I can really see what I eat and where I can make changes.

surreygirl1987 · 29/12/2022 11:49

Day 2. I'm mortified at how large and heavy I've let myself become! I used to be so thin and now I can't bear to have photos taken of myself. I'm determined this time. I'm an all or nothing dieter so am trying to just make sure there is nothing in the house that I could binge on.

BadgerButty · 29/12/2022 12:10

I’ll join too please. Have 7+ stone to lose and have been overweight all my adult life. I’m determined to shift the weight once and for all before I’m 50 so I have about 18 months to do it.

Love the WAHPET mantra. Going to use that! I’m on SW as I have done that before and managed to lose nearly 3 stone. Then Covid hit…

Thanks for starting this thread. It’s made me feel positive. We can do this!

FlightDeckBuckarooo · 29/12/2022 12:23

I weighed myself this morning and I’m 14 1/2 stone. I was actually worried I’d be 15+ so in one way it’s a relief, but it’s the biggest I’ve been and I’ve got between 3-4 stone to loose.

I’ll start properly on Sunday but I’ve got a nice heathy food order coming tomorrow and I’m looking forward to prepping some meals and starting to make changes.

Britinme · 29/12/2022 13:12

Please would someone remind me what WAHPET stands for to save me searching upthread?

BadgerButty · 29/12/2022 14:51

@Britinme would a healthy person eat this

Britinme · 29/12/2022 14:53

Thanks @BadgerButty Smile

Itsonlyagame · 29/12/2022 15:09

Too scared to weigh myself but I know I need to lose somewhere between 6 and 7 stone (which I have done before so im so fucking angry that i let myself fall back into my old ways!). Started today but refusing to be ruled by the scales so I won't be weighing.

surreygirl1987 · 29/12/2022 18:02

@FlightDeckBuckarooo I'm in the same boat as you. Bring it on!

hellosunshineagainxxx · 29/12/2022 18:05

I'm 28 weeks pregnant atm but managed to put on any weight. Put on three stone in last pregnancy three years ago and never lost it so determined to start the birth of this one lower and keep going to get fitter and slimmer to keep up with two young boys!

Jackster22 · 29/12/2022 18:07

Please can I join / I need to lose 3 stone - I’m just lazy and greedy, I do exercise but have got out of the swing of it, my dad was end of life then I got covid and then a chest infection so I haven’t got back into swing of exercise again yet, I have an Apple Watch and nutra check app so will hold myself accountable I have lost and gained so many times but never keep it off

supersaluki · 29/12/2022 22:54
