Not playing with the kids like I want to, never going swimming, never having my picture taken. Cant wear the clothes I want to, miss out on activities I would do if I wasnt worried, Sooo unfit.

My list goes on and on but I can stop there as I bet you know what I mean if you are reading this.

Feel free to join me in my mission to reclaim life as a person who doesn't think about the swing breaking or getting stuck on the slide. Being able to take the stairs without being breathless at the top and take a family picture without the dread.

The short term struggle will be worth the long term effects...

(if no one replies I plan to write here anyway and stay on track)... thanks.

I have loved reading this thread you are all very inspiring! I started my day 1 yesterday and weighed in at 12.12. I managed to stay under my calories on mfp and swam 30 lengths. I didn't sleep very well though and have been awake since 4 30 so I need to make sure that I don't eat because I'm tired today.

I’ve 2.5 stone to lose as an absolute minimum. I recently had physio for a hip joint problem. The physio was superb, she specialises in women’s health and explained my hip is arthritic and the effect of menopause on my joints. But also very gently and kindly probed about my general health and explained that a first goal for me is to improve my core strength. Ignorantly, I never realised the range of effects that a weak core produces - I suffer from them all. That will be the butterfly flapping it wings for me. She told me to focus on that, then start to think about weight loss. She’s made this seem so much more manageable. So I’m starting a 10 week course of reformer Pilates with her this week.

Good luck everyone

@PanicAtTheBigTesco, I could’ve written what you have. I’m also the same weight. I’m trying to change my mindset but appreciate it’s going to take a while to do that.

Day 2 went well although I need to drink more water and get more steps in

Britinme · 05/01/2023 11:15

Day 4 today. I will weigh in again on Monday. I'm meeting a friend for lunch today so it's the usual eating-out challenge. We have a nice Japanese restaurant in town, so that's probably our best bet. A two-roll lunch will work I think, as long as I don't have sweet potato rolls. I love them but they're filled with tempura-fried sweet potatoes. I like green tea and I don't take sugar so no calories there.

surreygirl1987 · 06/01/2023 23:45

Did you go to the Japanese place? I agree, Japanese food is one of the best for low calories. Or Vietnamese- I love Pho!

I've just realised how many calories I'm consuming in spicy mayo! I've been really good making healthy choices but must have eaten 200 cals of nandos mayo this eve before I realised! Still, I've lost 6 pounds so far which fab, although I know it's just beginner's gains. Feel and look less bloated too!

Britinme · 07/01/2023 00:25

I did go to the Japanese restaurant, but I had salmon teppan grill, which was delicious and I think fairly low-calorie. A very small piece of salmon - doubt it was more than 3oz, with a few grilled vegetables and about half of the bowl of plain rice they served it with. I drank green tea with it (no sugar) so I feel pretty good about that.

Going to weigh myself again on Monday!

Lessofmein2023 · 07/01/2023 04:37

I finally looked at the photos of the scales. I weighed a fraction under 14 stone on Tuesday and today I weighed 13 stone 9lbs but I woke up with a terrible headache which I haven’t been able to get rid of all day. I know I’ve only lost water weight so far but I’ll take it.

Would it help if you worked out in advance what you could snack at work so you had those handy?

Towntroubadour · 08/01/2023 15:45

I’ve downloaded Nutracheck and will properly start tomorrow. Though from using Nutracheck this week I can see how massively I’ve been overeating. I’m going on holiday probably abroad in August and really have to shift the weight. Have walked the dog a lot this week and made some healthier choices though did have a takeaway burger on Friday night.

Britinme · 08/01/2023 16:17

Thanks for that @Towntroubadour - I hadn't heard of that one and have now downloaded it.

Yesterday was a bit of a fall from grace. I went to a Japanese restaurant for lunch (this is a theme - I really like Japanese food) with my husband and had a shrimp teriyaki bento box. However, this also came with two tempura shrimp (this is the USA so shrimp=large scampi prawn) and four pieces of tempura veggies and two gyoza (deep fried dumplings). There was also a large mound of rice, but I only ate a small quantity of that. Too many calories, anyway. We were so full from lunch we had a salmon and cucumber sandwich for supper and some fruit salad, but in our house Saturday night is chocolate night so I had two Lindt truffles leftover from Christmas and half a funsize bag of Maltesers. I daren't add up the calories from all that, but onward and downward - today is another day.

1Step2Step · 08/01/2023 23:36

I’ve managed to stick to my 1200 calories/day plus I did 4 light workouts this week. Lost 1.2 kg / 2.65 lb. This week has been really hard adjusting to the new meal plan/ healthy eating I’m on. I’m not starving, but that hungry feeling I get at times is putting me on edge. It’s at its worst around 3pm and before bed so I will snack on carrot sticks to help with it.

Britinme · 09/01/2023 15:27

Weigh day today and I've gone from 14st 2.2lb last week to 13st 12.4lb this week, which pleases me immensely. I know most of that is water weight, but it still gives you an incentive to keep going, doesn't it?

surreygirl1987 · 09/01/2023 21:23

Yay! It absolutely does. Well done!

I've lost half a stone in the last week and a half (I started the day after boxing day). Again, I also know it's mostly water weight, but I look far less bloated, and feel good, despite still being 3 stone overweight! Aiming to lose half a stone per month... fingers crossed for 6 months time!!

Love this thread- let's keep on motivating each other!

mynewname25 · 09/01/2023 22:47

Hi looking to join too please.

At the heaviest iv ever been and fast approaching 40 I really need to sort myself out.

Looking to lose just over a stone as that takes me to a healthy weight and hopefully my clothes will be a bit looser.

I do a fair amount of exercise but my downfall is unhealthy food. I eat way too much chocolate and have 3-4 takeaways a week!

Unfortunately i work shifts and im out driving for the majority of them so i end up going to mcdonalds and kfc as its easy (and yummy!)

First goal is to take healthy meals with me that i can eat in my car to discourage the fast food trips! Should save some money that way too!!

Starting weight 9st 6.6lbs

Mybumlooksbig · 16/01/2023 00:33

I'm in.... 5 stone to lose

Britinme · 16/01/2023 03:11

Even a bit helps. I got up to almost 16 stone at the beginning of last year, heaviest I've ever been including at 9 months pregnant, and I've lost 29 pounds since then (weigh day tomorrow so I guess I'll find out then if I've lost anything this week). I feel a lot better for it and can wear stuff comfortably that was tight on me or unwearable before. At 13 stone 12 lb I still need to lose another two and a half to three stone (I'm 5'7") ideally, though I'd be happy with two, but I feel happy with what I've done so far.

Britinme · 16/01/2023 16:37

Weigh day today and I lost a pound last week, so now 13st 11lb, which makes me happy. Slow loss is more sustainable than fast for me.

greenerfingers · 16/01/2023 16:39

I'll join in too.. started a week ago. Lost 1/2lb today. Not the most incentivising but it's still something. 49.5lb to go 🤣😭

IHeartGeneHunt · 16/01/2023 16:53

I'll join if I can? I've got six stone to lose. Down a stone since Xmas but I hate dieting, it makes me so hungry and miserable!

IHeartGeneHunt · 16/01/2023 16:54

I'm 17 stone 2 at 5 feet 9.
