@Sodullincomparison Hope the HRT appointment went well!

Stravaig · 02/02/2023 15:57

I am oh so slowly working towards healthier patterns again. It's scary how quickly sugar and carbs got their claws back into me!

First thing: 1 sugared coffee, 1 green tea with a wee bit of dark chocolate.
Meal 1: Frittata. Shallot, red pepper, potato, smoked bacon, parsley, spinach, basil, dill, eggs, cheese. Half today, half tomorrow.
Meal 2: Cavolo nero, red pepper, chorizo, lemon oil, basil, parmesan with wholewheat pasta shells. Surprisingly good!
Plus some dark mint chocolate. 9 hour eating window.

illiterato · 06/02/2023 16:59

Well the good news is that I’m not any fatter than last week. Not any thinner, but not my fatter. I’ll take that given everything that’s going on with the house etc.

Stravaig · 06/02/2023 17:06

Same here. Not down on previous low of mid Jan, but not up either.
Back on track more of a process than a binary switch.

Sodullincomparison · 07/02/2023 20:21

I need our weigh in day to be a Thursday! I got to 15’0 on Thursday and then back to 15’3 yesterday.

started HRT patches which are fab but I am retaining lots of water.

DH is currently doing low carb and training so there is a lot less rubbish to eat around the house.

i am worried that the patches said weight gain was a side effect.

im finding the focus on my diet to be tough so I need to write down it all to keep track.

KittyBurrito · 07/02/2023 20:22

Hello, can I join? I finally got up the courage to get on our electronic scales - and they thought I was my husband! 1.5 stone to lose. Eek

Ha- I had that- scales asking me to confirm whether I am Illiterato or mr Illiterato.

Welcome to the thread. It's quieter thread as has been going a while but newcomers always welcome.

I am thinking of doing a lowish carb effort when I get back from skiing. It does work well for me and its definitely a case of the more carbs I have the more I want.

KittyBurrito · 08/02/2023 15:58

<waves to @illiterato > Thanks for your welcome!

Sodullincomparison · 08/02/2023 19:37

Hey @KittyBurrito you can do it! Welcome to the group.

Thursday tomorrow already- I’m not sure how that happened.

we go on holiday in ten days and it’s All Inclusive. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Stravaig · 08/02/2023 19:52

@Sodullincomparison Ooh lucky you! A veritable feast of fresh fruit and salads, no preparation required, every meal, every day 🥦🥕🌽🥬🌶️🥒🍑🍎🍓🍍🍒 skips off cackling

@KittyBurrito Hello!

Stravaig · 08/02/2023 20:03

I am toying with a spell of no sugar at all. Or no sugar after the wee bit of dark chocolate first thing. Not doing very well with this back on track malarkey.

On the plus side, the eat all the sweet things freefall seems to have reset my body image. I once again feel distinctly overweight for me, despite now being near the top of a healthy BMI. Downside is I've lost my mojo or rhythm or something, and this last 8 kg seems a daunting to impossible task. Despite having just very effectively lost 2+ stone in a relatively short time. How did I do that again?

Sodullincomparison · 08/02/2023 22:33

@stravaig you did it by telling us each meal and snack. That really did work.

and those meals were impressive.

I thought the same about the AI- just fruit veg and salads. I’m easy about not drinking. I’m just looking forward to sleeping lots!!!!

DH has been no sugar all week without hesitation. Bet he loses 5+ pounds this week.

Stravaig · 11/02/2023 14:32

@Sodullincomparison Thank you! I've been quietly trying to work up some inspiration - and also using up anything that could derail me. Plus side, no coffee for a week now. I had some raspberries first thing 😇

Stravaig · 13/02/2023 17:53

Avoiding the scales for now. Still too much sugar, but no coffee, and back on a 16:8 intermittent fasting pattern. Getting there!

How is everyone else doing?

Sodullincomparison · 13/02/2023 19:33

By some miracle, I have stayed the same this week. I have eaten like never before since starting HRT.

I have been sooooooo hungry.

DH stopped carbs this week and lost 7lbs. Grrrrr!!!

we have to go for small wins.

KittyBurrito · 16/02/2023 07:28

That's my first 3lb down

KittyBurrito · 16/02/2023 07:28

Stravaig · 16/02/2023 09:40

@KittyBurrito Well done! 🥳

KittyBurrito · 16/02/2023 09:59

@Stravaig thank you!

illiterato · 20/02/2023 06:43

Hi all. I’m back from my rosé and tartiflette holiday- also did a bit of skiing.

69.2kg. 4kg down from start. 1.5kg up from lowest.

stated aim: 67kg by 25 March when the Easter holidays start.

Go.

Stravaig · 20/02/2023 07:27

Inspired by @illiterato's rosé and tartiflette with a bit of skiing face the music approach I got on the scales this morning.
I am 1.3 kg up on my mid Jan low.
Newest mini milestone: get back to where I was!

illiterato · 27/02/2023 10:48

Same same but I’m counting it as a win because I significantly upped my running mileage and once I get to that level regularly, I almost always lose weight so long as I curb my worst dietary excesses.

Stravaig · 27/02/2023 12:21

No scales today. I slipped and fell and took an almighty whack to my coccyx, so currently moving very slowly and carefully. Food is an effort to assemble, so eating less - provided there's nothing sweet within arm's reach.

Been reassuring myself that this is a typical land hard on arse in snow injury - even though it was actually a wet kitchen floor, without the consolation of sauna or fondue or mountain views to speed recuperation along!

@illiterato Nice work on the running! 🏃🏻‍♀️

Sodullincomparison · 27/02/2023 17:40

@stravaig your poor bottom!!!

a week of all inclusive and I’m a pound down. 15’2”

the food was grim and there wasn’t a mayonnaise covered salad to be seen.

@illiterato definitely not enough tartiflette in my life.

DH managed about three dinners every sitting so has regained his seven pound loss.

so the key is to just have food in the house I don’t like and then overcook it, serve it lukewarm with fifty screaming children.
