@stravaig we all need to follow your diet plan.

We had a lamb and veg cottage pie ( peas cottage onion and celery) with green beans, Cavolo Nero and spinach for DD4.
the idea is to fill the plates with veg.

@AnnieHoooo i think we can do it with focus over the next couple of weeks. we are following the same as you- lots of protein and veg and very low on carbs and processed.

We are all desperate to be back into a work and school routine!

ArtfullyCrumpled · 02/01/2023 22:04

@Stravaig !!!! Go you on the discipline!!! Bravo,

Stravaig · 02/01/2023 22:08

@Sodullincomparison That sounds delicious!

@ArtfullyCrumpled Total fluke! Unless chocolate chip shortbread is a well-kept weight loss secret 🤣

AnnieHoooo · 02/01/2023 22:11

@Stravaig you are a MACHINE!

Right @Sodullincomparison let's follow this amazing lead! I'm SO ready for it.

AnnieHoooo · 02/01/2023 22:23

We know that @stravaig loves a mini goal.

What's everyone's mini goal for this week?

Mine are:

  1. Go for a good walk everyday without the dog
  2. Call GP and ask for HRT
  3. Sign up to Davina's Own Your Goal app
  4. Something to record my food and drink intake and make me accountable
Sodullincomparison · 02/01/2023 22:40

Three people recommended HRT to me over the Christmas period- I wonder if I was a little shorter than usual. 🤣 Good luck at the doctors.

ok @AnnieHoooo sounds like a good plan.

my mini goals for this week are

  1. low carb diet - and writing everything down
  2. No Diet Coke!
  3. Wed- Fri - fasting from 7am until 6pm
  4. no restaurants or take aways
  5. no to bite anything with this loose tooth 🦷 ( am relieved to see advice to wear a mask in case to is all goes wrong 🤣🤣)
  6. to know what day of the week it is again!
snowday01 · 03/01/2023 10:09

Weighed in today - a day late I know but I'd already had breakfast by the time I remembered yesterday - 10 stone 7, which puts me at a nom of 28.7 and heavier than I was when I was 8 weeks post partum with my youngest who is 2 I could actually cry!
Breakfast today has been
Cup of raspberry tea and an omelette with 2 eggs, 2 egg whites some ham and some yellow pepper - about 230 calories. I've joined nutracheck and it's given me 1400 a day. I've also had a glass of water and im going to try and up my water intake because I've been terrible for not drinking water over the holidays.
So that's it for me - I''m 100 percent committed to the less lardy cause.
I'm back to work tomorrow so hopefully that will help me get back into a bit of a routine

snowday01 · 03/01/2023 10:10

BMI of 28.7 not nom lol

AinmÁlainn · 03/01/2023 13:38

Thanks for the welcome. I like the idea of weekly mini goals, I'll have to think of some.

I started with fruit and yoghurt at 11.30. I'm trying to do 8/16ish IF. Kids are still on holidays so I can smell toast downstairs and I want to go and eat a whole loaf of it!

Very annoyingly I went for a swim at lunchtime but the pool was closed for a deep clean of the changing rooms so I'll have to psych myself up for a run this evening instead 😫. Dinner will be grilled lamb chops, veg and baked potatoes. I love the skins and dd loves the fluffy middle so we swap and I can keep the carbs down a bit!

illiterato · 05/01/2023 11:34

Hi All. Right. It hasn't been the start I'd been aiming for. Yesterday I found a slab of that Christmas chocolate with loads of fruit and nuts and candied peel stuck into it and I'm afraid that I ate it Grin. However, today salvation has arrived in the form of the builders. Kitchen currently inaccessible as has a massive cupboard in front of it so I'm thinking today will have to be a good day. Also yesterday I did a 10k run as had to drop my car at the workshop and no taxis due to train strike. Also I have stuck to Dry Jan despite my tween DC trying my patience in the extreme yesterday.

Me: It's school tomorrow so please check you have all your uniform and everything in your sports bag. Let me know you dont and we can go to Decathlon.

DC [on PS4]: Ugh, mum, dont nag. I've done it. I've got it all.

DC this morning: Where's my blazer?/ I dont have a mouthguard. I need a new hockey stick

Arrrgghhhhhh!!!!!

AinmÁlainn · 05/01/2023 18:46

I feel you, illiterato, I accidentally ate a selection box today 😤 I had lost a kg when I weighed myself this morning and period is due any minute or whenever it feels like it so I'll write off today and get back on the wagon.

Sodullincomparison · 05/01/2023 19:40

No kitchen and no snacking sounds good!

back at work and fasting until dinner time has worked well. No quick fix at the dentist so it’s now my new pastime for a few months. I shall have to start juicing as no more crunchy apples for me.

@illiterato a 10km run? Nice work.

@AinmÁlainn well done on the loss - keep going

illiterato · 06/01/2023 08:50

@Sodullincomparison what has happened? I did scroll back but can't find the original tooth story. I once snapped a front crown clean in half on 2 Jan on a breadstick and had to do a full day of meetings with a missing front tooth.

The 10k run has come back to avenge itself with massive DOMS. FML.

Sodullincomparison · 06/01/2023 20:47

@illiterato i lost a battle with a baguette and have a wobbly tooth. Nothing they can do except let it settle and do extra gum cleaning so my gums are stronger to support it.

fasted for three days and had a small evening meal and no Diet Coke so the mini goals are going well. Seem to be ok without the caffeine.

here’s the weekend… will it all go wrong?

any exciting exercise or food plans for the weekend?

illiterato · 07/01/2023 11:07

ouch- hope the tooth settles down. I have dental anxiety, not in respect of going to the dentist but fear of not being able to get an appointment. Lockdown was stressful for me as you can imagine.

any exciting exercise or food plans for the weekend?

well since you asked … 🤣

parkrun this morning- bit of a family NYR to try to inject a bit of energy into Saturday mornings. I ran with DD as she wanted company and got round in 35. Ds a bit faster. Proud of them both as it was mega windy and neither of them really love running tbh. I’ve been terrible on exercise this week as can’t really leave the builders as they have frequent questions that I need to answer. Really hope they finish up on Tuesday so I can get my life back.

Food- no social plans so sticking to dry Jan and not eating crap. Going for lunch with dc and MIL tomorrow so will have the roast as this place specialises in them and it would be rude not to, but will skip dessert and eat lightly for the rest of the day. Might go for a run while dc at rugby but sense it’s slightly frowned on ( ie not watching).

Sodullincomparison · 07/01/2023 17:53

Well done on the team run! That sounds good fun to do together- we had torrential rain this morning.

getting appointments for anything is impossible - I’ve had to go private at a practice I used to be NHS at because I didn’t attend during lockdowns.

food wise- I did some intermittent fasting until 4.30pm and DH made an orzo, pea and Lardon meal and I had some cheese and crackers on the side.

good luck with the builders.

just waiting for @stravaig to come and show off a feast!!! 😋

Stravaig · 09/01/2023 07:19

Hello! I've been having a week off, eating lots of cheese and chocolate in the evenings. Which is lovely in the moment, but doesn't feel that great overall. Anticipating a rocky few days getting back to normal. So 0g lost this week!

illiterato · 09/01/2023 08:40

@Stravaig ooh- love a bit of cheese. As usual, I massively over-ordered at Christmas and am now trying to ration it and use it in cooking rather than scoff the entire lot on crackers in front of Happy Valley. DC are getting a lot of macaroni cheese. You might actually find that a slightly higher calorie week gives you a good loss next week- I find it resets my metabolism a bit.

67.9kg for me today so 1kg loss this week and (5.6kg total). Been a mediocre week but stuck to Dry Jan (bar NYD as we had friends here but I'd already committed to starting on 2nd because of that and also starting anything on a Sunday just feels wrong). Didn't have pudding at lunch yesterday and just some soup in the evening.

Another good week will have me back where I was pre-Christmas.

AinmÁlainn · 09/01/2023 10:03

I'm down 0.5kg since last week, which isn't terrible given the second half of the week. I'm back to a healthier routine now for the rest of the month as long as I can keep stress/distraction eating at bay (I've exams on Saturday 14th and 21st) for the next two weeks.

I purposely didn't buy much cheese at Christmas to avoid the January overload. Unfortunately we still have an obscene about of sweets and chocolate in the house.

Runnerduck34 · 09/01/2023 10:24

@stravaig - snap!
Well lost all of 100g!
Basically I'm still grazing all the left over Xmas food and my 8 hour window of eating isn't happening.
Just relieved I haven't gained.
I'm losing motivation and need a kick to get back on it this week- and we still have Xmas cheese left in the fridge:(

Runnerduck34 · 09/01/2023 10:26

Ps Well done to everyone who has lost weight!

illiterato · 09/01/2023 10:34

Unfortunately we still have an obscene about of sweets and chocolate in the house.

I'm going to give everything that is well in date and unopened to the food bank tomorrow. MIL gave all the adults a big box of Heroes with a JL gift card, and then all DH's siblings and my DP left them at my house, the sneaky bastards (didn't leave the gift cards did they???) . Plus I've got about 6 massive bags of kettle chips/ Pringles that I just forgot about.

whyhere · 09/01/2023 11:05

Weigh-day here as well: one and a half pounds off since last week (so just half a pound over goal weight) and an inch off my waist, so I seem to be getting back into pre-Christmas mode. Just need to find a balance so that I eat enough of the good stuff, rather than under-eating (as I got used to a lower calorie intake when losing) and then thinking, "Whoopee - I can have chocolate!" Although that sounds good in principle, I can really feel the difference in my body when I eat empty calories rather than useful ones.

Sodullincomparison · 09/01/2023 12:19

Well done everyone! All heading the the right direction.

we still have lots of Christmas cheese, crackers, and crisps left.

my weight went from 15’ 5 on Monday to 15’0 on Thursday and I thought this is it. Tooth gate is worth it!

but then it promptly went back up.

on 15’2today so three pound loss but it’s very variable.

I have a full range of new supplements - can that ever cause any water retention?

I’m eating one meal a day at the moment and yesterday it was beef stew with carrots, peas, broccoli followed by three gin truffles!

I am going to Italy for the weekend with just DH in five days so going to save it all for the pasta, polenta and a cocktail.

Runnerduck34 · 09/01/2023 15:48

Enjoy Italy @Sodullincomparison !
