Thought I'd save you the hassle @poorpaws.

Well done for those who have lost and good luck to those struggling.

My focus at the moment is just to be wiser for food selection and to keep active. The slow moving scales can wait although I did check this morning and showing I'm nearly back to 14 and a half stone.

I hate meal Planning too @VonWeasel but now I have started doing my shopping online for click and collect I have cut my actual shopping time down to about 10 minutes so I enjoy the planning more.

First I go through the freezer and jot down what’s in there that I fancy/had forgotten about. Then I get my recipe book or find a Pinterest menu plan, I book my time slot (Asda c&c seem to always have slots, often next day and they are 50p) and I then plan out my week- I include our evening ‘events’, when I’m running or classes, kids football etc. I choose a few things that the whole family will eat and put those on the right days, then I do a few days where the kids have beans on toast and dh and I have things they don’t like. I buy 7 individual packs of veg (probably costly but we always eat it all so no waste) eg. Sugar snaps, broccoli tender stem etc.
i’m getting better at it so I allow for leftovers now, and I always do a Sunday roast and prep loads of carrots and other veg to last a few days.
most weeks I end up with an extra meal somewhere, I’ve started only planning for 6 days rather than 7, it saves money and uses up leftovers. And we always have a just in case meal like noodles or something frozen anyway.
once you get your head in the meal planning rhythm it helps, I have an ongoing list on my phone so when I sit down to do it I’m half planned anyway.

Hi @poorpaws and all.
Lots of great progress going on.

LightandAiry · 19/04/2023 20:15

Hi Everyone I am just back from yoga, my dinner of roasted mushrooms & tomatoes (good), Quorn nuggets & hash browns (not great) are in the oven, I am very hungry but I am prone to having an eating the fridge day on Wednesdays.... but today I've been a lot better. Took food to work & ate nothing else there ,& didn't buy cakes at the little charity dress down thing. Everyone around me were eating cupcakes but I resisted.

@RobertaTheRotund I do Hatha yoga, a few salute to the sun's this evening which are a little more strenuous.

@thenewaveragebear1983 thanks for sharing meal planning... brilliant an organised approach, I have stuff in the freezer I ignore!

effiesgoldwig · 19/04/2023 20:38

Agreed it's lovely to see so many people posting but I'm struggling to keep up with you all! I'm still here lurking in the background and pooking my head out every so often like an overweight turtle (with about as much energy 😂)

I've been back on my tins of soup this week and i can tell it's helping.

And two people at work have told me they have noticed my weight loss in the last 2 days which has really boosted my motivation. 11 lbs (5kg) off for the summer is my current goal. (Still need to get 1 more pound off to get under 100kg as well. I've been losing that one since February!)

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/04/2023 20:40

I had a much better day today. Last night I listened to my stop bingeing hypno, and I listened again in my lunch break today. It’s amazing really, it seems to just turn down the dial on my appetite. Foods been good, I ran this morning and did 2 gym classes this evening as had an unexpected evening sans dc. Just eaten the most delicious dinner of duck breast, lentils, feta, salad and broccoli, with light sweet chilli sauce. So tasty! Ending up on 1459 cals, 108g protein, and quite a high 150g carbs as I had protein noodles for lunch. But I feel really full and satisfied.

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 20/04/2023 00:14

I'm still lurking @poorpaws , just suffering from a lack of motivation/ energy/ willingness to even make a start on the mammoth (ho ho) task awaiting me of trying to lose weight! Now you've reminded me, I will rejoin properly soon Grin

Gottoloveatakeaway · 20/04/2023 07:45

Still feeling positive. I'm travelling again this week, another conference, and really pleased that I've still been making healthy choices. Usually travel is downfall, and i make poor choices and eat treats as I'm away from home on my own. I think the Tedtalk video helped reset my mind on this. And I'm walking everywhere so fingers crossed for a loss this week.

poorpaws · 20/04/2023 08:23

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl do come back!!! I'm failing constantly atm but I still post on here. I'm out for lunch today, it will most likely involve chips but I'm still here plodding on. How are you getting on with your soup maker?

midnightblue12 · 20/04/2023 12:59

Guys I've not been doing very well.
My son had a terrible sickness bug on Tuesday and it's just been so difficult to manage as I have a really bad sickness phobia!
Anyway I've not steered too far off track so I guess that's a positive!

My new favourite meal is a thin bagel with bacon, salad and a protein yogurt! Literally so nice as that slightly naughtier dinner has definitely curbed the cravings!

Hope everyone is well ♥️

midnightblue12 · 20/04/2023 13:01

Fat taken off the bacon I might add!

PinkArt · 22/04/2023 02:42

Gained a pound. It's also tipped my body fat back up to a horrific number I swore it wouldn't be again. This is faaaar too long a fuck it run so I'm getting strict with myself. Lots of fish, veg, salad. There has been a fair bit of all of that this week but offset heavily with Easter eggs and doughnuts.

Newyearnewarse · 22/04/2023 07:42

Morning all, I have lost 3 pounds which I am pleased with.
First half of the week was good as I had done all the meal planning etc but the last couple of days have been hectic which meant I fell of the wagon a wee bit.
So meal planning is the key for me, not a lot I can do about the hectic.

List making and shopping and cooking today.

RobertaTheRotund · 22/04/2023 07:54

You all sound like you're doing really well!

I went out for dinner last night and did choose the healthiest options, but it wasn't brilliant. Also a few glasses of wine 😬. It was a birthday in my family though in my defense and I'd had one hell of a week at work.

I had booked an exercise class for today but it was cancelled, so I'll try and get on my spin bike instead.

Sorry you're ds was poorly @midnightblue12! I had one DC off sick this week as well with a bit of sickness. Not nice

poorpaws · 22/04/2023 08:06

Hi everyone

It's been a bad week for me, too many days out, too many Easter eggs, too much ice cream, in fact too much of everything except my exercises which I have stopped doing.

I feel very fat and sluggish and I have to get back on track. I've decided not to weigh myself atm because it might will be too depressing and cause me to give up.

To make matters worse I've bought an air fryer oven for cake making (my oven is incredibly temperamental and I'm not going to use it any more). I've got a smaller air fryer for jacket potatoes, chicken breasts etc but I needed a bigger one. I might try bread too. The cakes, scones etc will be for DP of course 🙄

I hope everyone else is winning this dieting game. Where's the sun? My heating is back on (weather does affect my dieting progress).

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/04/2023 08:17

I’m down a couple this morning which takes me back to pretty much my Good Friday weight (week of gain, week of loss)
I’m heading out for my long run, so have had a banana for a bit of fuel and just trying to get my head in the zone.

we are out tonight to my sil’s house, I’ve bought a non alcoholic wine and some nice soft drinks, I will see how I feel. I drank 2 g&t last night which were an ok change from wine but the sweet overpowering flavour by the end was just yuck. I actually don’t want to drink tonight but it’s a very very rare night out with my husbands brother and sister and their partners, without our (combined) 9 children…. So it does feel a bit “fun Bobby” to not drink doesn’t it?!

have a great Saturday ladies. It’s another grey one here, my mood is so flat when the weather is like this. Bring back the sun ☀️

TalkToTheHand123 · 22/04/2023 10:21

What time of day do people exercise? I've been reading how a few celebrities exercise really early, but never hear about any exercising late in the day. Maybe just not readworthy?

I've tried early exercise a couple of times but just felt tired all day, but thinking I may try again, although my exercising through the day and evening seems to be going ok.

My eating rice when feeling bingy seems to be helping with better body shape.

Gottoloveatakeaway · 22/04/2023 10:29

I do my exercise first thing @TalkToTheHand123 seems to work for me, as reduces potential excuses. I've lost a lb this week, so getting back on track. Have girls night out tonight though so will have to compensate all next week.

RobertaTheRotund · 22/04/2023 11:21

I am just getting back into exercise, so can't really comment. So far, I've been doing spin bike at weekends and a yoga class on a weekday evening. Was planning a dance class today but it was cancelled.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 22/04/2023 11:51

@TalkToTheHand123 I will do weights or yoga or walk late in the day but if I run late I won’t sleep.

my optimum time is about 2 hours after waking. I will open my eyes and stumble into the gym or drag myself out for a run, but I prefer around 8am/9am.

I ran 21km this morning, half a marathon. I actually felt good, I didn’t push my pace much but I just ran at a comfortable pace and enjoyed it. I think my increased protein diet is making a difference to my overall stamina.

TalkToTheHand123 · 23/04/2023 08:33

My shifts are changing to 8am to 8pm so will have to plan around this.

My tummy muscles were feeling quite sore yesterday and the only thing I can think of is at the gym I used the equipment where you lift your legs to 90 degrees for the first time.

I'm just doing little stretches every few mins at the moment. I feel it will take a while to get to any level of fitness after being a couch potatoe for many years so just keep to this when feeling lazy.

Body shape quite a bit better than a few months ago though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 23/04/2023 14:06

We went out last night, nice evening but a lot to drink and I’m sure there was a cheese toastie at the end of the night. This Morning I feel tired and really quite hungover. My legs ache after my long run yesterday and also I had only about 3-4 hours of sleep as I was up and down all night and eventually up at 6.15.

just taking it easy today. I did 30k steps yesterday so not worried about getting any steps in today. I’ve had quite a lot of crackers and cheese for lunch, but dinner will be chicken and salad so they’ll hopefully balance out.

I’m going to listen to my hypno recordings and plan my food for the next few days and maybe even have a little nap.

Theredjellybean · 23/04/2023 20:42

Hi all...well I've effectively had three weeks "off"
Despite an attempt to restart last week..
Damage on Saturday was 74.3 kgs..
Ok...so must get a grip
Had good day yesterday and today until I ate an Easter egg..ok a small one and not the mini eggs in the middle..I don't even really like chocolate..why I ate I don't know.
I also had earlier today a real "I hate my body so much " moment when I saw myself naked.
Iys so depressing to feel at war with your own body...I definitely need to work on being more in harmony, less punitive, try to see my body as something to look after better.
So new start tomorrow...does coincide with five days of travel and work and dinner out every day ..but I'm determined...good choices no alcohol.. please come and remind me it's really that simple...
Got to get the wagon rolling again

Theredjellybean · 23/04/2023 20:45

@poorpaws...you sound like me...come on ...we can do this together..we have been hanging in since the start ..

poorpaws · 23/04/2023 21:14

@Theredjellybean I have been sitting here berating myself all evening (whilst eating chocolate and crisps 🙈). I warned DP to not allow me to give excuses to stop exercising and to make me do them daily, he 🙄, as if he has the power 🤣

I think it best to avoid mirrors when naked, it's a recipe for more damage than good.

I need to really, REALLY sort my diet and exercise out and keep to it! I was supposed to be a lot thinner than I am by now, I just keep bloody eating.

So we'll start together tomorrow with positive vibes. I am still not weighing, I can't face my actual weight atm, I'm too upset with myself.

Good luck to anyone starting again tomorrow and to those weighing in, I hope those scales are kind.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 24/04/2023 06:49

@poorpaws @Theredjellybean you sound like me a few weeks ago. It’s horrible isn’t it, when we feel trapped in this cycle of eating rubbish/feeling rubbish and feeling powerless to change it. I’m feeling a lot better this week, the hormonal storm has passed and I feel a bit clearer but in reality the difference is that I just did it, got through the first few days and then it all gets a bit easier again. Stick to what you know works. Be kind to yourselves. I find it’s often easier to think ‘nutrition’ not ‘diet’ as so often these treat foods are nutritionally deplete and have no positive effect on us at all, however focussing on filling your menu with protein, veg, fresh healthy food - our bodies reward us for that very quickly. I hope you both have a good day.
