Thought I'd save you the hassle @poorpaws.

Well done for those who have lost and good luck to those struggling.

My focus at the moment is just to be wiser for food selection and to keep active. The slow moving scales can wait although I did check this morning and showing I'm nearly back to 14 and a half stone.

Hi @LightandAiry 👋

I’ve closed up the kitchen today on 1650 cals. My food was good. I had a small treat (a tiny, and I do mean tiny, piece of homemade chocolate cake- I counted it as tescos chocolate birthday cake and weighed it, 44g was 187 cals and I cannot stress to you strongly enough how incredibly small it was, it was like the edge cut off the corner of a proper slice!) - but otherwise my food was on track. 3l of water and I have my bottle here with me watching tv as well.

tomorrow it’s my office day so I have made a lunch of leftover chicken and lentils with salad, 30g cheese and a squeeze of light mayo. I’ve made a huge box of fruit salad and have done myself a portion (I’m really enjoying this at the moment, I make a big Tupperware with 2 apples, 2 pears, 2 kiwi, 2 satsumas, a handful of grapes, a few strawberries and this week I added frozen mango chunks. Squeeze a lemon over it so it doesn’t go brown.- it seems so much more interesting than an apple on its own!)
Then dinner tomorrow will be sausages (kids have sausage sandwiches after football) and I’ll probably have mine with an egg or two and some mushrooms and grilled tomatoes.

I’m feeling really positive- long May it last!

Theredjellybean · 27/03/2023 22:22

Well I ended the bastardijg week at 72.8...ok a gain but as at one point I was 73.6 it was not bad.
I've stuck to my 1200 calories and no alcohol for two nights...yeh
No way I'm going to be 70kgs by Easter so...going to aim for 71... something..just under the bloody 72's...
But on positive note .I was 73.5 this week last yr so despite being even more menopausal I've managed not to pile on pounds...
And luckily I don't really do chocolate..not bothered by it...crisps on the other hand ...

endlesswashing · 27/03/2023 22:52

Oh dear, I'm one step forward, 2 steps back. I was pretty good last week but the weekend went to pot as had a friend staying which was lovely but there were quite a few (lots of) treats. Today has been a total write off, chips, chocolates and Crisps! Hope Mr. W. Power pays me a visit and has a long stay.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/03/2023 12:09

Hi All. Is there room for one more? I was going to say 'room for a little one' but that would be a lie! Grin Have been struggling lately, with holiday/birthday/mothers day, but have knocked the biscuits on the head. I keep thinking as they're rich tea and light on calories, they're ok. And if I get a broken few (and there are quite a few) they don't count! I need to have the odd treat outside the house, to avoid inhouse temptations I think. Hi @LightandAiry

poorpaws · 28/03/2023 12:47

@SpongeBobJudgeyPants hi and welcome. You are in the right place for plenty of support and no judgment. I hope you enjoy our little group and join in with the chat.

LightandAiry · 28/03/2023 13:14

Thanks for the welcome 👋 @SpongeBobJudgeyPants Rich Teas are the biscuit eaters friend! I had a couple yesterday evening with a few nuts. I am told that is a healthy snack as rich teas are lower in sugar.

@thenewaveragebear1983 great planning. Tomorrow is Wednesday; I work a long day and end up going AWOL in the trying to eat healthily stakes.....My plan is Greek yogurt with All Bran and fruit, salmon with veg, 2 ryvitas with 30g cheddar and apple for lunch. Undecided for dinner.

I go to yoga on Wednesdays which can mess with my plans as if I wait until home at 8pm I am very hungry and end up stuffing face with piles of toast. I am wondering about eating main meal at lunch tomorrow that would be a solution. All in the planning!

LightandAiry · 28/03/2023 13:19

@poorpaws I'm with you on the Easter Eggs! Somehow they taste better. What is a boost week? Sounds like a good idea for when resolve is good.

poorpaws · 28/03/2023 20:43

@LightandAiry a boost week is a whole week when we try much harder with food, so healthy food only and no snacking and we also try to exercise more. We all post daily during boost week. If your poison is chocolate we don't have any, if it's alcohol then the same.

We had one a couple of weeks ago and to be honest it's a bit of a killer but one of our team lost 4 lbs that week and I lost 3 lbs. It really just boosts our weight loss if we've not been doing too well and we give each other extra support. We may have one after Easter if the others agree (I might need one after the eggs). It's also known as kick ass week.

Zebracat · 29/03/2023 11:02

Hello to new people.
I don’t like Rich Tea biscuits, but no one can tell me digestives aren’t medicinal. It’s in the name!
I am doing better this week. The weight from last weeks holiday is shifting quickly, and I’ve got back to the pool. MFP logs my swims at 550 calories, so 5 or 6 swims a week is nearly a pound lost. Let’s hope my scales know that! I am hoping to be close to 95 for Easter. I’ve promised myself I can phone to press for a date for my hip operation when I have lost 3 kilos, but I made that deal when I was 96 , seems a cheat to then go up to 98 and make the call at 95. I have to wait until I am 93 dont I ?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 29/03/2023 18:39

hi ladies, how is everyone doing?

I am so incredibly tired today. I did get up for the gym this morning but all afternoon I have felt really really tired. annoying because I have been taking iron supplements and bvits specifically to help boost me up a bit so I’m not so exhausted.

foods been ok today, all under total calorie allowance but probably not the healthiest choices (eg had a hot x bun) but still had quite a lot of fruit and veg and protein so that’s ok. Gym this morning and went for a short walk on my lunch.

I have a day and a half of leave to take so I will be finishing tomorrow afternoon and have Friday off. I really need it, it’s been a long month. I’d like to do a run tomorrow afternoon and then do a long one on Friday morning, but it’s weather permitting.

I just need to keep doing what I’m doing. I am so close to dipping under 160lbs, but I frequently swing over again and it’s very demoralising. I always expected it to take me longer, I lose weight very slowly unless I am super super strict. I’m getting annoyed with just exactly how slow though. I probably need to drop my calories and cut the carbs out but it’s just so hard.

anyway- plan is as always: water, workout, plan my meals, stick to plan, no snacking.

poorpaws · 29/03/2023 20:11

Hi everyone,

I've had the day from hell in Marks & Spencer's. I've spent the whole day in M&S trying to get jeans and bras, I couldn't get either. I did buy one pair of jeans in desperation but they are nothing like I wanted.

What I did see when I was trying on various jeans and bras was this colossal figure in the mirror. I have no idea who that person is, but she needs to lose weight and quickly!

It didn't help that their lovely hot Cross buns were reduced to 50p so of course tonight I've been eating them and the contents of the Malteser Easter egg that DP bought for me.

On a positive note, my new Fitbit watch came today, a Charge 5. My old Charge 3 has given up so I thought I had better upgrade. Although on not so positive a note, I haven't a clue how to use it and with my present mood I can't be bothered to find out so it just might sit on my wrist doing nothing.

I must get back into getting this weight off, I just feel totally overwhelmed and exhausted with it at the moment.

Keep on trying everyone.

CatsGinAndTwiglets · 29/03/2023 20:34

I’m off work this week so I’ve done body pump once and body combat once. Only 30 min of each but enough to make me sweat and feel like I’ve done a workout. I seem to eat less when I’m off work (feeder colleagues who buy snacks!) and I’ve been eating lots of veg- lightly cooked greens with lemon, chilli, garlic and chickpeas for example. With some cheese on it but the bulk of it is low calorie and nutrient dense.

Three people I know of have died young (40s and 50s) in the last few weeks so it’s a bit of a kick for me to try and improve my health. Even if I don’t lose any weight exercise is good for me and eating well is good for me. Also been doing the wim hof cold showers. Supposed to be good for mental health and cardiovascular health.

LightandAiry · 29/03/2023 20:58

Hi everyone, I've had a challenging day, I've struggled this wet Wednesday but tomorrow's another day.

Can anyone suggest a filling breakfast? I am so hungry by 10.30 after scrambled eggs on toast.

You and me both @poorpaws I've been snacking today, Wednesdays are tricky for me, I didn't do my food diary I've been comfort eating, too many biscuits again. Good luck with the new Fitbit.

@thenewaveragebear1983 I used to go running, but these days my knees don't like it, so I go walking.... tomorrow I have a walk planned after working from home, so it's straight out the door, 3 miles. I also love carbs, hard to cut them out.

@Zebracat trouble with me and Digestives is cheese on the top!

effiesgoldwig · 29/03/2023 22:32

Sorry I've been a bit awol. Work is crazy busy at the moment so diet has gone out of the window. Had a pack of bourbon biscuits for lunch at my desk today which is not good. Finish for Easter on Friday though so am hoping I can reset and get back on track with meal planning and food shopping. Hope you're all doing better than me.

TalkToTheHand123 · 30/03/2023 07:18

Feeling a little slimmer with eating more rice as it seems to stop me binging on worse foods.

OP posts:
Theredjellybean · 30/03/2023 07:49

@poorpaws ...the weight of the new watch on your wrist will surely work like a work out and burn calories!😉

And honestly I don't think you can be colossal..I can't recall your weight...and you don't have to say ..but honestly I'm sure you have a misconception of the mirror.

I'm doing ok this week..dsd has not needed to be in hospital, I have got back on top of work pile up...just got huge personal to do list and I need to go for a run but infact still drinking coffee with ddog 1 and 2..slumped over me gently snoring...

poorpaws · 30/03/2023 07:57

@Theredjellybean I suppose you're right but I felt enormous yesterday, really big. I don't look in full length mirrors very often and I was so shocked. Didn't stop me eating loads of chocolate last night to cheer myself. Going to try again today. I think I'm struggling with Easter so close now, I just think "oh well I'll start after Easter", it's not good.

The best feeling in the world having two ddogs on your knee snoring. I had a few tears for Paul OGrady yesterday because his dogs won't understand and will miss him.

Theredjellybean · 30/03/2023 08:19

My dd2 first txt to me yesterday morning was..."I'm in tears...his poor doggies.."

Theredjellybean · 30/03/2023 08:26

It is horrible that feeling when you've gone shopping for something and nothing looks right or feels right and you feel gross ..easy to come home and eat your feelings...I've done it a million times...but...Easter is still 8 days away...you can do a lot of good or a lot of damage in 8 days.
I'm going to give tough love now ..but for goodness sake...why have you got Easter eggs in the house this early???????
Stop buying them...
If you must buy them for children then put them somewhere you can't get them...the attic, the boot of the car...the neighbours...
And tell you dh to stop buying them for you...
He is sabataging your efforts.
In 10 days it's Easter Sunday...have an Easter egg then...one day ...Easter eggs are for one day.
Come on ....you can do this...don't put them in your shopping trolley...if you start to linger by them in the aisle imagine me gently guiding you away...you are worth more than an Easter egg..go to the flowers and spend that money on some daffodils for yourself instead.
Tell your dh...he is to buy flowers not Easter eggs for you...

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/03/2023 08:49

I despise clothes shopping now, I hate the mirrors, the lighting, I rarely find anything I actually like and if I do buy things I tend to feel really disappointed when I get them home and take it all back. Especially jeans. I desperately need some new ones and everything just makes my look like I have no waist - my tummy looks huge in them! There’s a really interesting thread on the style and beauty boards about ‘when your style doesn’t suit your body shape’ (ish) and it’s interesting to read that a) everyone of all shapes and sizes feels this way, and b) I like to read the fashionistas suggestions. On the back of that thread I have ordered some chic basics from Uniqlo (Vinted) and they are really nice.

i’n all in for a strict week before Easter. I have adjusted my nutracheck so instead of meals it’s divided into food types and I am determined to eat much more veg and protein and much less junk and carbs. I need to cut my calories down as well I think, reluctant to do this too much but I think aiming for 1300 a day I’ll prob hit 1500, rather than aiming for 1500 and hitting 1700.

I will buy an Easter egg, (a nice lindor one) but it’s my treat on Easter Sunday. Last year I bought early and stored in the garage and a mouse or rat ate my egg 😱 so this year I will store inside. But whoever said upthread about it still being 10 days, yes you are RIGHT. I can certainly do a good week+ on track before Easter.

TalkToTheHand123 · 30/03/2023 10:22

There is a new full length mirror for me to view in now which I plan to do regularly as I find it helpful (although not at the moment as I'm currently at McDonald's as I've been shopping nearby 🤭).

OP posts:
SapatSea · 30/03/2023 10:54

I've dropped off the thread as I put on 3kg - 3pm munchies and feeling really despondent. I feel the same about jeans and clothes as the rest of you. I recently ordered a selection of straight leg jeans from M&S all just hideous on me, I looked 9 months pregnant and ready to burst. I also ordered some wide leg pull ons from H&M also dreadful. I can't stand to look in the mirror either so I don't understand why I can't get myself together enough to stop eating. My stomach in menopause is just really expanding out in all directions. So frumpy and old. I'm fed up thinking about how awful I look multiple times a day.

My husband wasn't overweight but was heading to that BMI so decided last year to get "lean." He used to eat 2 breakfasts like a Hobbit and huge dinners, always saying he "needed food." He just gave up breakfast and carbs as easy as pie -drinks coffe all morning and doesn't eat most days until 3pm if at all and then just a herb 2 egg omlette and for dinner a meal without heavy carbs so I'm well used to cauliflower rice, chickpea rice etc. He is skinnier now than when we met in our early 20's - he found it so easy whereas I just can't give up the biscuits/chocolate despite eating uber healthy meals ( I'm vegetarian). My siblings are all marathon runners and super slim, I just feel like a total embarassment.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/03/2023 11:49

I can easily give up pasta, rice, noodles etc. even bread. But I struggle to give up chocolate permanently, I like bananas and I do like a potato or two.

my dh is the same @SapatSea , his idea of eating healthy food is only one sharing bag of crisps instead of 3, and he’ll do that for a few weeks and lose half a stone. It’s not fair is it?

SapatSea · 30/03/2023 12:50

@thenewaveragebear1983 not fair! I have rod iron willpower over other things but sugar always defeats me.

LightandAiry · 30/03/2023 17:36

I'd like to join you all for a boost week, and so far we have not bought any Easter eggs, but I think there may be a little one for me at work next week. I can give it to my DD; studying hard for her A Levels and in spite of eating cheesecake for breakfast and anything she wants, us very slim. She has just passed her driving test and has gone out on her own 5 minutes ago....nerve wracking but she'll be fine.

I've had a good day, no emotional eating and I've been out for a swift walk. Feeling very hungry now so I'll have an apple.

I hold a lot of weight on my lower stomach and have to wear long tops with jeans. It's very hard to get rid of it!

@SapatSea chips and crisps always defeat me!
