Thought I'd save you the hassle @poorpaws.

Well done for those who have lost and good luck to those struggling.

My focus at the moment is just to be wiser for food selection and to keep active. The slow moving scales can wait although I did check this morning and showing I'm nearly back to 14 and a half stone.

I weighed and back at 14 and a half stone. Feeling more on it at the moment so with a bit of welly I may actually start losing again.

No real target or timescale for me just asap without the stress and focus on what I'm doing and how to improve. Taking it day by day 😊

3lbs on. Dammit. And in agony from raging infection. You'd think that would take away my appetite, but no. Hope your pup pulls through, Paws. Two of our dogs have fallen out with each other and we can't leave them alone together anymore. Fresh start today. Again.

Zebracat · 27/02/2023 12:24

97.2 kilos for me. My target was 97 so Im calling that a win, after all March doesn’t start until Wednesday. I was 96.6 yesterday and the sabotage kicked in. Had crepes, ice cream and chocolate. It was really nice though.
I feel that I need to crack on with this a bit so by Easter I really want to be comfortably under 93.
I am absolutely amazed at how good size 18 clothes can look when not trying to contain a size 22 body, so that’s a tiny boost. I bought some green tea, I know it’s full of anti oxidants and low in caffeine, but I actually bought it because I read somewhere not at all reputable that it’s been proven to boost weight loss.
im giving myself a month of doing my best and if that doesn’t work, I’m going to try the Zoe app.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/02/2023 17:04

@poorpaws sorry about your lovely doggo 😢

I agree, I despise the yo-yo! I suppose we could be making tiny incremental losses (the lower ‘yo’ getting slightly lower each week?) but I like an actual tangible LOSS on the scales. I find I just need to stop weighing when I am like that, have a good few weeks and not think about the numbers but focus on my food and exercise instead, as a bit of a reset

6 weeks til Easter? No way! This year is thundering past my eyes!! But half a stone by Easter would be very pleasing, so I’m going to focus on that.

poorpaws · 27/02/2023 21:16

I've well and truly messed up today! I thought I'd been doing so well and then today it just went wrong.

We went over to the vets and had a long chat and we're back again tomorrow for some small lump samples to be taken for analysis. Then we have to go to Taunton to see an oncologist to get to the root of what we need to do for Molly. I did come out a little bit more hopeful because the vet thinks she might have a year to live which is better than we thought and much better than we were told last Saturday.

I think I was so exhausted when we got home (I find anything medical very hard to concentrate on, and I don't really take in all the information), I just wanted food and comfort chocolate and I ate a lot. Must try harder tomorrow! I always find a great need to come on here and admit when I've really gone off the rails. 😩. I'm blaming stress and anxiety as well as gluttony.

sheepdreams · 28/02/2023 06:27

Hi Zebracat

thank you for the welcome. I’m going to try and lose weight using the Louise Parker method as I like a lot the recipes/foods she uses. I also need to get rid of my sugar addiction!

Theredjellybean · 28/02/2023 07:05

@poorpaws ...sounds a bit more hopeful for molly.
Do not beat yourself up over the chocolate...that's not what you need.
It was a one off thing, your body told you it needed some kind of soothing for the mental stress it's ok

poorpaws · 28/02/2023 08:02

@sheepdreams sorry I missed welcoming you. Another sugar addict just like me. I keep saying it, but if chocolate, cake and ice cream didn't exist, I'd be slim. 😁

I must get back to my exercises, I feel so much better when I do them daily. I've got this silly problem which I don't understand. I start my exercises when DP leaves at 4 to 4.15 pm but if anything interrupts this time I don't do them. For the last three days I've been interrupted (neighbour was over at that time, daughter visited next day and yesterday out at the vets). It's as if I cannot physically do them at any other time. I know a lot of it revolves around my evening meal, I obviously don't want to exercise on a full stomach, but I could eat a bit later. It's so stupid but once 4.15 has been reached all exercises are off! I've got to get my head around this stupidity and find out if it's just an excuse to get out of doing them. As I've said though I feel great once I've done them and it's only about 45 mins out of my day.

I hope everyone is on track unlike me. I'm hoping to hop back on to the wagon today and will be reporting that all exercises are done.🤞

Theredjellybean · 28/02/2023 08:07

I'm the same...if I haven't got up and started by 7am ...I don't do it...I've managed physio with weights workout x two and one run in last five days so trying to get in habit or winning streak going...
After three good days and scales just going up they have plummeted today..hurrah .
73kg.
So feel less despondent..planned to cook at flat tonight..some fish curry I think...and no alcohol.
As Feb goal was 71.5kg I am well off the mark but have mostly managed the running , not so good on strength training..
March's goal is 71kgs and exercise five times a week.

Inkpotlover · 28/02/2023 08:25

Can I join, please? I've been a long-time lurker on the WLB after reaching my heaviest weight of 14st 10lb about two years ago (I'm 5ft 8). I am another who has tried EVERY method under the sun only to pile it back on. Even IF didn't work - it just triggered my old binge eating disorder.

Anyhow, in the two years since hitting my highest weight I've also started HRT, so now I have the energy and gumption to sort myself out, but this time I'm doing it my way. Last year I read a post from a MNetter who had consulted a dietician who specialised in menopause and he told her you need to examine your diet and work out where you can easily drop 500 calories. He said monitor what you ate for a week, but I did it for six, and eventually I realised my 500 cal+ scoffing was happening mid-morning - I'd have a healthy breakfast of Greek yoghurt and blueberries around 8am, then about 10.30 I'd start mainlining crisps, often eating four packets at a time or one sharing bag. So now I have a 'Hobbit breakfast' of 1 small slice of sourdough toast with peanut butter at 10.30 and that now keeps me going until lunch. Crisps are now a once-a-week treat – I now have a grab bag of my favourite flavour every Friday after I do the housework. I also use a portion plate which has been revelatory, because I eat all the stuff I used to before, but just a heck of a lot less of it!

I'm not weighing now (I've ditched the scales) but my clothes tell me I'm losing weight. I've gone from being a size 18 squeezed into size 16 clothes to being a loose 16.

I'd like to join to keep myself on track and also for exercise motivation, which frankly I hate and am rubbish at!

poorpaws · 28/02/2023 08:47

@Inkpotlover welcome, so nice to have another "trier" here. You sound to have done so well without our help, many congratulations to you, but we are a happy little band and very supportive with most definitely no judgement.

@sheepdreams this is for you as well as @Inkpotlover

We usually have a long term goal which is Easter (it was a long term goal in the new year but less than 6 weeks now) and a monthly goal too. No pressure at all, we all make our choices, state them here and try our best. I have to admit I don't think I've met even one of my goals and February is a fail, but I still keep on trying and no one judges me although I do judge myself, but I won't give up. One day I will meet my goal and will be euphoric, until then, like the rest of us, I'll do what I can.

The goal can be anything, trying harder, weight loss target, exercise target, anything. I think it just helps us focus and try our best (most of us do state a weight loss we'd like to achieve). March tomorrow so a perfect time to start here and set a goal if you want to, not everyone does.

Thank you for the warm welcome! I love the idea of setting a goal for March and that I can make it exercise based, because I do feel that diet wise I'm managing well so far, touch wood. I've been charging up my DC's Switch for about four weeks solid now promising myself I'll have a go at Just Dance and still every morning I manage to make an excuse! So a March target would be great.

Zebracat · 28/02/2023 11:31

Breakfasts are so variable. I know lots of people who don’t eat it, and if they do find the floodgates open and they overeat all day. I know others who swear Greek yoghurt is filling, to me it’s like eating cloud. I have to have a proper breakfast, citrus fruit followed by , for preference toast. But porridge, although I find it really dull, keeps me full for longer. Not eating breakfast is totally impossible. I become a monster, although I can skip lunch or dinner at times.

I've gone from being a size 18 squeezed into size 16 clothes
Relatable @Inkpotlover, very, very relatable! I used to mock my mums refusal to buy clothes over a certain size but turns out I'm exactly the same. Thanks to the clothing gods for stretch fabrics.

I look forwards to joining you in the 'loose 16' club.

I was so in denial about being bigger. I convinced myself I was fine as a 16 but it's only now I'm losing weight that I realise how tight my clothes were – my legs in jeans were like stuffed sausages. Good luck and hope to see you in the 'loose 16' club v. soon!

effiesgoldwig · 28/02/2023 13:18

Welcome aboard @sheepdreams and @Inkpotlover

I'm 16st2 today which is 2lb more than my target for February. Could be much worse though.

Still aiming for 7lbs before Easter so 15st10 by 9th April.

Spent the day at work yesterday having to hitch my knickers up though which was annoying, but also a good little non scale victory.

Home with the kids today and keeping myself distracted from eating by cleaning. Win win.

effiesgoldwig · 28/02/2023 13:20

Would love to be in the loose 16 club! I'm only just getting into the loose 20 club! 😝

PinkArt · 28/02/2023 13:50

Well I need to reach the 'not taking the piss 16' club first, @effiesgoldwig!
You're running your own race though. That's what I like about this group. We don't all start at the same point, we don't have the same goals, we aren't all in the same bracket weight wise but we're all just plodding along with moving things in the right direction.

poorpaws · 28/02/2023 14:51

I've been thinking (this is DP when I utter those words 🙈), a long time ago we used to have a "kick ass" or "try extra hard" or a "go for it week". It is essentially a week where we really try our very best with eating and exercise, cutting out any extras and hope to lose a bit more than usual, so a sort of boost week. I think we should do one of those soon, anyone with me?

Zebracat · 28/02/2023 15:07

I’m up for that @poorpaws

hippygirllucky · 28/02/2023 15:08

Can I join please?! 14 months pp and still have about 11lb to lose just to get back to pre pregnancy weight (and I was already a little bit uncomfortable to begin with!)

poorpaws · 28/02/2023 15:15

Welcome @hippygirllucky lovely to have you here. If you take a look at the last few posts you'll see what happens on here as I've explained to two other newcomers. We're a very supportive group with different goals so hop aboard for some support.

TalkToTheHand123 · 28/02/2023 19:16

Aww @poorpaws that was going to be this week for me, although I've done okish so far. I've managed to decline a colleague's birthday treat session today.

PinkArt · 28/02/2023 20:30

I'd be up for that @poorpaws. I should use my competitiveness for good and I need a bit of a kick up the bum.
