Drumroll please...15st 12lbs 😥. I'm tall so can get away with it to some extent but i went on holiday recently and felt the whole time feeling uncool and uncomfortable.

I've been struggling with my weight since coming off the pill over 10 years ago but this is an all time high (or low!) point.

Where to go from here?! I love exercise, and when I'm good with my diet I'm good, but I have such a sweet tooth and can eat a massive bar of chocolate every night. Time to chance though as this is ridiculous.

Anyone fancy joining me to have some accountability?

Sounds good, @Rogue1001MNer! In retrospect, not sure starting a weight loss in summer holidays was ideal for me either - lack of usual routine and a fair bit of eating out.
I’m stable still, but need to regroup to start losing again. Starting with meeting a dear friend for a long dog walk tomorrow, then some batch cooking of healthy stuff for the freezer. Veg-rich or veggie chill, pulled pork, Katsu and Indian curry sauces etc for children’s dinners. I will eat with less carbs eg: no naan bread, cauliflower rice.
thinking of doing Stoptober too.

True @rosepelargonium, but also good salad eating weather, so swings and roundabouts 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
Good luck with keeping on

Rogue1001MNer · 17/09/2022 09:11

Has this thread died? 😞

PanicAtTheBigTesco · 17/09/2022 09:29

I've been on holiday but was planning on checking in today to see how everyone is doing.

Miraculously only gained 3lbs on holiday, didn't eat too badly and was doing lots of walking and swimming but had copious amounts of wine (€4 for 1/2 litre house wine absolutely everywhere we went was hard to resist!).

Just about to meal plan and sort my Tesco shop that's being delivered tomorrow so hoping to get back on track this week, I've also booked a gym class for Tuesday after saying I'll go back to the gym ever since this thread started in July Grin

Rogue1001MNer · 17/09/2022 19:42

Good for you Panic. Your holiday sounds fab

Givemestrengthorvodka · 18/09/2022 00:13

Hi all @PanicAtTheBigTesco @Rogue1001MNer thread definitely not dead...just living quietly 😁. I've been quiet because I've had a crap week of eating crap and drinking too much after a bit of a stressful week and still feeling very worn out after having the cold but feeling much better tonight (mentally) and so looking forward to getting to the gym tomorrow and doing a big and sensible food shop for the week.

Let's keep this thread alive, would love to hear how everyone is doing? @PanicAtTheBigTesco 3lbs gain after hols is brilliant and enjoy the gym class on Tuesday! I'm heading off on holiday in. 3 weeks for the October hols (in Scotland) and realise I can't change my body in 3 weeks I am feeling motivated to spend those weeks eating well and exercising so that I feel nicer and fitter for going away.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 20/09/2022 11:50

How is everyone doing? I've just had some porridge and planning chicken and veg for dinner tonight, plus a trip to the gym.

Would love to hear everyone is getting on 😁

Rogue1001MNer · 24/09/2022 09:20

Looks like it's just you and me @Givemestrengthorvodka 🤷‍♀️

I've had a bad week.... I had to miss 3 exercise classes and I've been out to eat 3 times. Plus I've done some atrocious snacking.

I thought I was going to gain this week, but somehow I've managed to lose 2lb, so I'm beyond thrilled.
And determined next week will be better.

I don't know how to get over the eating at work when I'm sat at my desk. That's my biggest fault currently. It should be an easy one to solve, but somehow isn't.
And I know the weightless won't continue if I don't break this habit.

How was the rest of your week?

Rogue1001MNer · 24/09/2022 09:21

Weight loss, not weightless ⬆️

Blowyourowntrumpet · 24/09/2022 20:49

Well donee everyone. It's not easy to keep motivated.
I've lost 2 stones, but it's taken me nearly 4 months. Still going. Keep strong everyone. We can do this

Givemestrengthorvodka · 25/09/2022 08:16

Morning @Rogue1001MNer And @Blowyourowntrumpet , and anyone else still following this thread who is very welcome to join back in!).

@Rogue1001MNer we all have weeks(months 🙈) that don't go to plan. Still losing maybe indicates that it wasn't as many calories overall as you thought.

I don't have much advice re the snacking at work as that's one (the only!) time in the day when I don't eat more than i should and am quite satiated with just a small brekkie and lunch so long as I have endless cups of tea. Could you swap snacking with a herbal tea?

@Blowyourowntrumpet thanks - its hard to keep going sometimes but I think I've finally managed to change my mindset that this isn't something with an end goal but has to be a permanent change in my eating habits. And for that to be sustainable there will undoubtedly be some days when I eat a load of crap...the difference is making those days a small minority rather than the majority. 2 stone in 4 months is brilliant - how are you finding things on a day to day basis now? Easier than when you started?

Rogue1001MNer · 01/10/2022 09:54

Hello to anyone still here.
Bad week this week, and reflected on the scales and with tape measure.
Unsurprised, but not pleased.

I REALLY need to crack snacking at work (not to self... stop buying this bloody crap!!!!).

I've done a LOT of exercise this week, so a bit gutted that the tape measure isn't reflecting that (I've done 8 forms of exercise- mostly classes in the past 6 days).
But onwards and upwards... Next week will try to do better.

Big respect to 2 stone in 4 months. I'd be thrilled with that!

Givemestrengthorvodka · 03/10/2022 14:04

Hi @Rogue1001MNer I'm still here! Well at least you know you've had a bad week and what to change about it but don't be too hard on yourself...8 classes in a week is an amazing effort. It might not show on the scales or tape measure yet but it will and your overall health will be improving no end. What do you snack on at work?

I've had a good couple of weeks (finally!). Did my 10k yesterday (great Scottish run) and managed to run it all without walking in 1hr 2 mins so really pleased with that. I've stayed off alcohol for the last couple of weeks which has made a massive difference to my calorie intake as I always eat more when I'm having a glass of wine or a gin. We are away on holiday next week and will no doubt be filling my boots all week but I'm also going to take my running gear with good intentions of using it.

Hope anyone else still following this thread is doing well, feel free to jump back in!

Hi everyone. I've had a bad week. It was my birthday earlier in the week and had a splurge. Hopefully just a blip.

Rogue1001MNer · 08/10/2022 07:59

It's NEVER a bad week to have your birthday @Blowyourowntrumpet.
Happy birthday Flowers

Well done for doing the run @Givemestrengthorvodka that's amazing 👏
You were worried you wouldn't cope.
Give yourself permission to enjoy your holiday, but maybe try and set manageable goals for yourself. Like, maybe, do one run. If you manage 2, you'll be sooo chuffed with yourself.
And then back to it once your holiday is over.

I've had a funny week, because I got covid (turns put I'm not immune after all!). So zero exercise, which I desperately missed (and I've slept REALLY badly, which was interesting), BUT no snacking (which is what I do all day at work) and I've lost 4lb 🥳
I have 2 weeks before a week off, and I'm determined to lose another 4lb, because that will mean 2 stone since june (which doesn't sound great, but I had 6 weeks more-or-less off over the summer).

I'm really keen now there's what looks to be an achievable goal in sight and determined to get there.
Then I want another stone by Christmas.
I'm down to pre covid weight now, but less toned and less muscle

Givemestrengthorvodka · 08/10/2022 21:11

@Blowyourowntrumpet happy birthday! If you can't fill your boots with whatever you like on your birthday then when can you so hope you had a great day.

@Rogue1001MNer hope you are feeling okay after covid and get a good night's sleep tonight. Well done on losing 4lbs, brilliant!

I'm off on hols tomorrow 🙌 and I have my running stuff packed....Good intentions and all that. Will report back when I return. Have a good week everyone 😊

Rogue1001MNer · 15/10/2022 08:03

How's your holiday @Givemestrengthorvodka ?
Did you do a run?

Stayed same this week.

Quite gutted.

I've got 1 more week before I'm off for a week, and REALLY want to lose 3lb before then. Not sure I'm going to make it 💔

Givemestrengthorvodka · 15/10/2022 12:26

@Rogue1001MNer had a fabulous week on holiday, frozen pina coladas on tap and amazing weather. I brought my running kit but it hasn't left my suitcase. Not to worry, I've had a fantastic week, enjoyed myself but not eaten loads and looking forward to getting back in to my exercise routine after wr get home tomorrow.

Hope you have a good week. 3lbs is a great goal but remember a lb is still a win and not to be disappointed by it

Rogue1001MNer · 22/10/2022 08:10

How's your week been @Givemestrengthorvodka?

I didn't reach my target 😞

I'm off for a week now and going to enjoy it. Will be back on it in November

Blowyourowntrumpet · 22/10/2022 22:07

I'm glad this thread is still going.

Update from me...so far I've lost 2 stone 2 pounds and I've gone from being diabetic to pre diabetic. I've really just maintained my weight over the last couple of weeks, but still have some more to lose. I'd love to lose another stone before Christmas.
How is everyone else getting on? I'd really like to hear your updates. We can do this 🙂

Rogue1001MNer · 29/10/2022 08:04

That's brilliant @Blowyourowntrumpet
Do you feel more healthy?

I'd like to lose just over a stone before Christmas, but not sure I'm going to do it.... got some very busy/social weekends coming up. But I'm up for trying with you.

I haven't yet managed my current goal of 2 stone. I was almost there last week, but didn't quite make it 😞💔

I was away on holiday this week and had an amazing time. I've put on 4lb, which I don't think is bad at all considering how much I consumed.
Back on it now....

Givemestrengthorvodka · 29/10/2022 09:27

Hi all, sorry I missed your post @Blowyourowntrumpet . What an amazing achievement to move to pre diabetic! You must be so chuffed with yourself.

Glad to hear you had a good holiday @Rogue1001MNer . I'm well up for trying to lose a stone for Xmas. I've been rubbish since I got back from holiday. Got a Halloween party tonight and then, other than a weekend away I have with a friend, I'm off the booze again until Christmas as it makes such a huge difference to my eating habits.

Do you fancy checking in here more regularly...every day/couple of days to report how we are getting on and keep each other motivated?

OP posts:
Rogue1001MNer · 29/10/2022 11:22

I'd be up for that @Givemestrengthorvodka

My current goals are:
Lose the 4lb I put on in the next 2 weeks (do-able, I think)
Lose a stone by Christmas (not sure that's doable)
Lose a further 2 stone by May 2023 (should be doable)

That would then give me a healthy bmi.

Where are you at?

Blowyourowntrumpet · 29/10/2022 12:46

Hi everyone. Checking in more regularly seems like a great idea. I've really just maintained my weight over the past few weeks, but need to start really trying again. I've booked to go swimming this afternoon as I need to do some more exercise. If I can lose another stone before Christmas , I'll be delighted. I'd love to hear how you are all getting on.

Givemestrengthorvodka · 30/10/2022 18:44

@Blowyourowntrumpet and @Rogue1001MNer great, let's try and check in as frequently as we can.

My goal is to stay off the booze between now and Christmas, keep active and hopefully start to feel stronger, fitter and more comfortable in my clothes. Weight wise I would love a stone off by Christmas, with another 2 still to come off next year.

Tomorrow's plan is:
Morning spin class
10k steps
Porridge with berries
Special K
Chicken and veg for dinner 🤞
