waffly post alert.
Pre covid, I did a LOT of exercise classes. At least 5 a week. Don't be impressed - I was always the worst person in the room. But I was, at least, IN the room. I can't do a burpee to save my life, my lunges are more of a curtsy (you get the picture)... Absolutely rubbish. But I was there, and kind-of keeping up (in a "I can keep out of everyone else's way" kind of a way).
Covid hit. No classes. I drank my way through it. Weight bloomed.
I'm now back into exercising, pushed into it because of a health scare
I'm a member of a council-run gym, so I can go to any of the ones in my city and do classes for free.
But there are no motherfucking classes. There are, but not ones that suit me, or at times I can do them.
Also, my foot hurts (the health issue). It really fucking hurts. So I've been going swimming.
I'm ok at swimming. It doesn't make my foot pain any worse. But it's a boring form of exercise.
So, my routine has been
Body pump on a Saturday morning (sedentary, so doesn't hurt my foot)
Pilates and aqua aerobics on a Monday
Aqua aerobics on a Wednesday, but at a place outside my city, so I have to pay for this one.
Sometimes aqua aerobics on a Thursday (can't always do this one due to work)
Swimming 2 - 3 times a week.
We've had "family membership" for years, and most of the time, I'm the only one that goes. Pre-covid, with the classes I did, it more than paid for membership for all of us, so that was a win.
Post covid (now), I'm paying my way (and DH is going to the gym regularly to ditch his covid weight, so that's a winner).
I am considering membership at the place I go on a Wednesday. At the moment, I'm paying £6.95 for a class I do 4 times a month. So that's 28 quid. If I take out membership, that's 35 a month, but if I transfer just 2 x swims a month, I break even. (cos everything is then free).
AND they do my favourite class (body combat). So I can see this being cost neutral/in profit.
BUT, I've got this foot pain thing, which might mean I just can't do the combat classes. but I could swim instead. The original gym membership is paid for as long as DH continues to go.
So, I'm thinking I should go for it. Do I sound mad? The classes I want to do run 3 times a week, and there's waiting lists for each one (but if I'm a member, I can book early doors).
I'm a bit torn.
