Precious thread is here ... Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now .. http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weightlosss_chat/4517125-louise-parker-method-anyone-i-know-it-s-a-bit-old-fashioned-now

Just a place to chat about the method, the ups and downs and how it works etc.

I personally have just completed the first 6 week Transform phase and have lost 18 lbs. Not quite 'transformed' yet but on my way Grin

Hey @HardRockOwl thanks for the new thread. Very inspired by your 18lb weight loss - I’d be made up if I achieve that by the end of my (1st) six weeks. I’ll still have some way to go though so I’ll be sticking around a while I think.

Today’s food:
B: banana pancakes (made extra yesterday)
L: crunchy chicken salad
D: not sure yet but the shopping’s just turned up so I’ll rummage for inspiration later.
S: kefir and oatcakes and hummus

Im doing surprisingly well on not drinking - nothing Saturday or Sunday (I’ll draw a veil over Friday)

ElvenDreamer · 09/05/2022 13:04

Hi all, thanks for the link to find my way here @Hobbes8 . Picking up on last point in previous thread, I'm 5'9, and while I haven't noticed a reference to height as such, I can't help but think it makes a difference. I think I'll try your idea of adding 1 further snack. Also I'm not counting out 20 nuts etc, going more on portion sizes being related to your hand size etc.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain · 09/05/2022 13:17

Found you all after having to re-join and change my username because the app kept crashing 🙄

My weekly average shows another pound lost last week. It's slow but it's sustainable so I'm pleased

HardRockOwl · 09/05/2022 13:19

I hadn't thought about height potentially having an impact! I'm just a touch of 5 ft 3 so quite short.

And no, I'm not cutting out a snack 😬

OP posts:
Hobbes8 · 09/05/2022 13:24

God no @HardRockOwl there will be no cutting of snacks! I eat every calorie I’m entitled to - I’ve been known to lick the last of the salad dressing out of an empty bowl (I’m also not great at the elegant occasion way of eating).

HardRockOwl · 09/05/2022 13:27

@ElvenDreamer I have no natural stopping point when it comes to nuts so I'm quite measured with them. I just have two tablespoons and try not to make them heaped spoons! Wish honey roasted cashews were included!

Food so far today ...

Some kefir quark blueberry yogurt thing with 1/2 banana and pumpkin seeds

Mixed nuts

Halloumi burger in a seeded roll with tomato

Ha there is no elegance here either @Hobbes8 - I just shove it in my gob.

I don't behave in this way in company though of course 😀

HardRockOwl · 09/05/2022 13:30

Just read your post on the other thread @ElvenDreamer - if you're starving and losing it in the evening, it does sound like you're not eating enough to fill you up.

wow @HardRockOwl congratulation!! Thats so inspiring and i bet you feel soooo good! I wish you all the best luck for the lifestyle phase or do you do another round?

I guess the weight loss depends on height and weight at the start, the acivity and so on... but i also have the strong feeling that my first LPM was the best. I'm on my third round now and haven't lost anything in the first two weeks.
I'm 163 cm, 63,8 kg and BMI is around 24.

Topazpearlagain · 09/05/2022 14:28

Hi everyone and thanks for the new thread @HardRockOwl . Your losses continue to be fabulous.

I thought that I'd post the link to the cookbook here for anyone who comes to this thread first.

After 5 weeks, I have lost a total of 6.9 lb (I really wanted to round it up to 7 lb😀). I know it is going slower than for many of you but I have been in and out of the circle. One thing that has changed for me though, is feeling like the LPM is now my normal woe and stepping out is for special occasions (there just have been rather too many of those....) Still, it is all progress.

HardRockOwl · 09/05/2022 14:57

@GloryLory oh I need to do another round - maybe 2 rounds more? Louise assures me I can get a size 8 Body so I'm here for it!!

I'm currently a size 12-14 depending on where I shop and what I wear. I'd like to be a size 10 and I initially wanted to lose 2 stone but I feel 3 stone would be better ... again, Louise says we must think big 😀 so I'd like to see how I look and feel in another 18 lbs time and just hope I can stay in the circle.

I haven't stepped outside it once yet - but I may add in the odd chocolate snack from one of her books. She has a list of 'allowed' ones so I'll give those a whirl. I don't trust myself to eat outside the plan yet .. I will do just as soon as something worth it comes up

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 09/05/2022 14:57

And @GloryLory your BMI is what I'm aiming for! So I think your losses may be a little slower as it sounds like you're a very healthy weight

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 09/05/2022 14:58

@Topazpearlagain that's half a stone near as dammit and it's a brilliant loss. It all adds up doesn't it?

Flopisfatteningbingforchristmas · 09/05/2022 15:41

Thanks for the new thread!

B- more bircher with blackberries and toasted almonds
S - humus on cake cake and a tomato salad
L - soup
S - apple and chocolate almonds (LP recipe so not real chocolate)
D - bubble and squeak
Either a mug of warm oat milk or Mexican hot chocolate

GoodNutButters · 09/05/2022 16:13

Hello new thread! Thanks @HardRockOwl for hosting and well done on your brilliant work.

First day of week two for me. Exercise is my focus this week, having focused more on beautiful living last week. I made the three bean and feta salad for lunch. I'm relieved that it's delicious as I've made four days' worth of it to last me almost all through the week.

B - Raspberry & chocolate bircher
S - houmous on ryvita
L - three bean salad
S - peanut butter and oatcakes
D - salmon and spring greens

And I think I'm going to hit 10k steps today!

blardyfeck · 09/05/2022 17:35

Here you all are! I couldn't log in yesterday so I'm just catching up. Thank you for the new fred. And thank you for all the chat about the pillars etc. I feel justified that concentrating on food is enough for me at the moment.

I'm in awe of your losses @HardRockOwl !

Yesterday:
B Anyday Sundae
S Stilton & pea mini souffle (made a batch)
L Classic Tricolour salad
S Cashew & strawberry crunch
D Goats cheese & tomato frittata

Today:
B Vanilla Oat Bran Porridge (what a revelation to not be starving by 10am - I usually don't eat breakfast as I thought it would help me lose weight but I have been wrong all this time)
S apple
L Asian salmon salad
S Stilton & pea mini souffle
D I'm doing the courgetti bolognese
S Probably a cashew & strawberry crunch again

Slightly concerned that the bolognese uses 800g of mince and is supposed to serve 8. For me that is not a lot of mince! I'll fill up on the courgetti and might have salad on the side as well.

I'm determined to prep the bircher muesli for the morning and my salad for work tomorrow again.
I didn't even want a biscuit or doughnut in the staff room today. Long may it continue!

florianfortescue · 09/05/2022 18:17

Thanks for the new thread! I have read most of the old one, bought the books and am now on day 4. I have lost 3lbs so far!

Got about 32 lbs to lose in total though so a way to go. I'm 8 weeks post partum and am breastfeeding which has an impact on what i can do exercise-wise etc.

Loving reading all your posts for inspiration and encouragement.

Today:

B Bircher with strawbs and coconut flakes
L spinach, red pepper, hummus and falafel
S peanut butter on a rice cake, two oatcakes, piece of cheese
D will be prawn and cashew stir fry

Sparker201 · 09/05/2022 18:26

Well done @HardRockOwl on your 6 week loss and thanks for starting a new thread. I think I need at least 3 cycles to lose the 3-4 stone I am aiming for so am here for the long haul. I will be delighted if I match your loss of 18lbs in 6 weeks, so I just need to stay in that circle as much as possible😉

KitchenFishCurry · 09/05/2022 18:33

@blardyfeck I was just looking at the bolognese recipe 1 tablespoon of parmesan between 8😢.
When I make bolognese I add loads of veg peppers and mushrooms (not a very authentic recipe) but it does make the meat stretch more

clpsmum · 09/05/2022 18:55

@HardRockOwl the burger looks amazing.

Lostmyunicorn · 09/05/2022 18:55

Hello everyone you are all doing so well! I fell off the programme for about 10 days but am now back on it.

ive got the veg prepped for a big omelette for dinner tonight and the one thing I’ve been doing even when I stepped out of the circle was to make my Bircher religiously for brekkie. I had a beetroot and feta salad from m and s for lunch which seemed pretty on plan, and was also really delicious. glad to be back!

GoodNutButters · 09/05/2022 18:59

@florianfortescue nice work! I'm 10 weeks postpartum and breastfeeding too so similar to you.

This week I am trying to go on daily walks with the baby to try to get to 10k steps and do a few postnatal exercise videos on YouTube. That's about the limits of my ambition!

keiratwiceknightly · 09/05/2022 19:02

Hello all - nice new thread!

V well done to our founder, hard rock owl. Great result. Just shows what's possible when you really stick to it.

We booked a summer sun holiday yesterday which has given me a goal to aim for. 100 days away according to the electronic counter that popped up when we pressed "Book" - I'd like to be 15-20lbs down by then.

HardRockOwl · 09/05/2022 20:08

@florianfortescue that's a fantastic loss so far. You must be pleased with that

@Sparker201 same here. I'll be here for another two cycles I think ... Louise says ' don't get off the train a stop too early' so I intend to get to somewhere in the middle of a normal BMI. It'll be interesting to see what the next 6 weeks show, loss wise. I can't see another 18 lbs coming off but I think I'm going to set my target at a stone off

@clpsmum it was delicious! New grill range at M&S, it's just a slab of halloumi. Which is fine with me 😅

and it's good to have you back @Lostmyunicorn

@GoodNutButters I'm in awe of you. When I'd just had babies, I concentrated on getting in 10,000 calories a day, never mind steps

@keiratwiceknightly I think that's a very achievable target. Unless you're already 9 stone. Then it's trickier 😅

OP posts:
HardRockOwl · 09/05/2022 20:10

Food times today

Quark kefir yogurt with fruit

Mixed nuts

Halloumi burger with tomato in a seed roll

No snack as too full from lunch ..

And dinner .. didn't feel like it. Same old same old - so I had Greek yogurt swirled with peanut butter with pear and strawberries

Must get a handle on dinner. Haven't really managed it yet
