☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Thank you @SingaporeSlinky I will remember that.

SunshineCake · 06/05/2022 13:25

I need my gang. GP just rang. I haven't got the all clear from my scan and have to have another procedure. I am already anxious as DD is going away tomorrow. Worrying about whether she will come back ok. Sorry.

SanFranBear · 06/05/2022 13:47

LittlePea - that halloumi dish sounds so delicious and perfect for the weather were having at the moment. Added pomegranate seeds sound so tasty.. May have to try it out!

Good news on your trousers, Echobelly - so satisfying when things start to fit.. and comfortably, too!

Thanks for the water reminder, Sunshine - I am rubbish at remembering to hydrate and it really is important for all over body health. And your new greenhouse is adorable - your DH has skills! I'm so sorry to hear about your additional procedure - is it happening quite quickly or do you not have a date yet? You have so much on your plate with DD as well - what a run of horrid luck you've had. Thinking of you!

CrimsonAlligator- I'm a bit of a cliche but I started on January 1st so that's just over 4 months of being pretty strict with myself and only having the occasional indulgence. My hiking has made a significant difference though - physically and mentally... I get such a buzz from my walks. I was out this morning, across beautiful farmers fields and teensy country lanes and it was blissful! Going to have homemade pizza tonight to ring in the weekend 😊

SunshineCake · 06/05/2022 14:06

It will be quite quick @SanFranBear and I am waiting for the GP to ring me back regarding some blood tests too.

buzzofthebumblebee · 06/05/2022 15:10

Struggling with keeping under calories - but keeping off snacking & sugar & alcohol, so small wins.

Extreme tiredness - very unusual for me. Hope it is side effect to antihistamines (v bad hay fever) but just want to sleep.

Sunshine - sorry to hear your latest news. When are you going to get a breaK? You SO don't deserve the major bad run of luck.

Great loss SanFranBear - well done!

Benjispruce4 · 06/05/2022 16:33

B-30g oats, berries, 1tbsp Greek yoghurt, espresso.

D- Will be a jacket potato with veggie bean chilli.

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 06/05/2022 16:56

Handhold @SunshineCake

ginsparkles · 06/05/2022 16:59

I haven't been very good with posting but I'm watching and lurking, so I have delurked to send love and hand hold to @SunshineCake

I'll update another day. Today my energy is with you sunshine.

8stone13 · 06/05/2022 17:03

Sending love @SunshineCake Flowers

Puffalicious · 06/05/2022 17:33

Ah, Sunshinecake my thoughts are with you.

Not a bad day, but I was so hungry at lunchtime that I've got fewer calories left than I would like. Bah!

I drink herbal tea after 7pm and before 11am. No milk but some are quite sweet eg my favourite is liquorice tea. I buy it loose and it's divine. Camomile and honey is also lovely, as is Pukka bedtime and fennel.

SunshineCake · 06/05/2022 19:18

Thank you so much @buzzofthebumblebee I wouldn't mind a break from bad luck tbh but an hour ago the doctor rang again to say my blood tests have also shown a problem with my kidney function so I have to have more tests.

Why did I decide to do dry May ???

Thank you @AnyoneElseFeelDone @ginsparkles I am touched you delurked for me. I am needing you all so much at the moment and thanks to you too @8stone13.

SunshineCake · 06/05/2022 19:19

HI @Puffalicious sorry I missed you post. Thank you. I think I would like homey tea but I don't know what camomile tastes like. Is it flowery?

ImALittlePea · 06/05/2022 20:12

@SunshineCake I wish we could collectively catch you a break! 😟 Will have to settle for sending virtual love. Always here with you.

SanFranBear · 06/05/2022 20:42

Goodness, Sunshine - its never-ending for you at the moment. Wishing you nothing but love and luck! I'm glad it sounds like they're moving quickly as hopefully give you less time to worry!

P.s Pukka Bedtime is possibly the best herbal tea, ever, Puffalicious! I'm partial to a straight peppermint but given the choice, Bedtime every time! Although, unsurprisingly, the Lidl version is not an even close second - currently drinking my way through a box and it's not really cutting the mustard!

Sainsbury's is pretty good, actually. Different from Pukka's but delish

SunshineCake Camomile isn't flowery, I wouldn't say. I find it a bit bland on its own, so with the honey (Twinings) is lovely. Ginger good too.

Echobelly · 06/05/2022 21:25

Wishing you the best @SunshineCake

CrimsonAlligator · 06/05/2022 21:48

Sorry to hear you got even more bad news Sunshine 🥲

Just to add to the herbal tea debate…Nothing beats Pukka Joy. It’s summer in a mug. Vanilla Chai is pretty good too 😋

Flowers111 · 06/05/2022 21:51

@SunshineCake sorry to hear that hopefully it's fixable !
Still dry here !
Scales not moving though 😀
But I will go on a long walk tomorrow.

Riddlediddle · 06/05/2022 22:16

Please may I join? I am losing weight through a combination of calorie counting with MFP (1200 a day), a 2 mile walk each day and then a daily 10 min crossfit session at home too which is as much as I can manage working full time and being a mum too:
SW = 10st 12lbs
CW = 10st 4lbs
TW = 9st 6lbs
My period is due to start over the next few days and my stomach is already feeling bloated. I expect I may see an increase on the scales because of it. Do most women see a small weight gain just before their period begins?

Benjispruce4 · 06/05/2022 22:22

I used to @Riddlediddle but haven’t had one for 5 months(peri) but it did mean a gain of a lb or two. We are similar weights and have a similar target. Good luck .

Puffalicious · 06/05/2022 22:50

Oooh I must try Pukka Joy!

SunshineCake · 07/05/2022 08:22

Thanks everyone. I have researched and it could be the start of womb cancer. Hoping not. Would be rubbish.

Going to get up and run on the treadmill as feeling quite anxious and emotional today about a couple of things. Just want it to be tonight and DD safely home. Might go with DH to walk the dog as my bruises don't look too bad now.

Benjispruce4 · 07/05/2022 08:26

Fingers crossed for you @SunshineCakeit’s horrid waiting for results and my mind always thinks the worst. 🙏

Benjispruce4 · 07/05/2022 08:29

In other news I’m another lb down this morning.😝
SW-10.4
CW-10.0
TW-9.7
No alcohol last night either so 5 days in a row. Out tonight but will only have a few.

Echobelly · 07/05/2022 08:47

Took a slight risk this morning and tried banana porridge - two things I quite like but can get sick of after a few bites. Was OK, but I think I'll stick to yoghurt for now.
