☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

Good Morning Everyone ❤️

I love a new month and a fresh start. Frustratingly my weight ended up rather than a maintain. Not to worry, I’m on it!

A Warm welcome to the thread @ElderflowerTonic @CrimsonAlligator @NoviceNetwork @DFI000 @Echobelly @MistySkiesAreGone You can do this! Visualise how you’ll look and feel this time next week/month/year by making healthier choices. Doesn’t have to be drastic, just be more mindful about getting in fresh stuff, portion control, not drinking calories and if able, move more.

@buzzofthebumblebee @Elle200 you’re very welcome ☺️

Menu
Meal 1 - Roast chicken dinner, Sugar free jelly, strawberries and fresh cream. (could be OMAD)
Meal 2 - ? ☝️
Tea, coffee, water.

Happy May everyone. Starting this month in a good place, well compared to where I was:

SW: 104.7kg
CW: 85.3 kg
May GW: 82.5kg

I'm going to try to get under 13 stone, which will be for the first time in almost 5 years. If I manage more, that'd be ace but I'm probably getting to the point where my loss is going to start to slow so trying to be realistic.

Wise words on water, Sunshine. I've really fallen off that particular wagon the last couple of weeks and it does make a huge difference.

Right - off to make breakfast and start the day... love lazy, four day weekends 😃

SingaporeSlinky · 01/05/2022 10:04

Morning all, starting May at 9st 1 1/4 so my goal for the month is to get down to 8st 13, but I’d be happy to maintain my loss too.

SW 10st 7
CW 9st 1 1/4

Collardgreens · 01/05/2022 10:07

Thank you for starting the thread, OP. I will save my place.

HouseofHolbein · 01/05/2022 11:14

Morning! Well I ended April as a sts but after a night out on the beer last night I’m starting May 1.5lb up 🤣🤣

ah well I don’t get out much and it was a brilliant evening!

so current weight is 9st 10.4lb. Goal is 9st 6lb and to stay there 🤣🤣

aiming to drink more water and eat less crisps and chocolate 👍 and see where that takes me this month 😊

good luck everyone!

Trounlet · 01/05/2022 14:01

I'm in! 13 weeks today until our first foreign holiday in 3 years, and fatter than I've ever been 😞

I'll weigh on Wednesday to get a starting weight.

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 01/05/2022 14:07

Hi all, just checking in

Got on the scales and it's not horrendous. Need to get rid of about 10lbs.

Aiming to do IF to reduce the mindless snacking and focus on making better choices.

I get outside every day and have given up full sugar Coke in January after about 35 years of daily drinking, so some positives to build on.

Have a wedding to attend mid June so any loss between now and then to feel better in my outfit would be good.

Waves to all

TheRealHousewife · 01/05/2022 15:03

@SanFranBear that is awesome progress! Well done 👏

You’re Welcome & welcome to the thread @Collardgreens @Trounlet @AnyoneElseFeelDone I too have a holiday planned and a Wedding in June!

@HouseofHolbein 😅 your posts always bring a smile! Your plan for May seems doable and I’m sure it’s achievable!

Off topic I know but has anyone watched/watching Modern Family? I’m probably late to the party but I’m loving it! Very funny and relatable. I catch it on Disney.

Placemarking for later in the month. Going back to my moms from the 5th to the 10th to help her move into the seniors apartment!

TheRealHousewife · 01/05/2022 15:19

Hi @fallfallfall that sounds like a big change. Hope it all goes smoothly!

OP posts:
HouseofHolbein · 01/05/2022 15:32

I have the hunger after last night 😂😂 I’ve just eaten some crisps reckon I needed the salt 😂😂

fallfallfall · 01/05/2022 15:34

hi @TheRealHousewife , yes a change from her home of 50yrs to a one bedroom apartment in a stunning complex. Part of her will miss the yard, but she is 90 and her small stroke has triggered a couple other health issues. Sadly her eating style and my brothers hosting style reek havoc on weight loss. Aim to maintain 😊

buzzofthebumblebee · 01/05/2022 15:36

Yogurt & seeds for breakfast, prawn salad lunch, and will be roast chicken heavy on the veg for dinner. No snacking otherwise.

Puffalicious · 01/05/2022 15:46

Hey TheRealHousewife, glad to see you're still here inspiring and leading the masses.

I'm rejoining for May. I think the last time I was here was way before Christmas? I've crept up and I'm not happy!

I originally lost 2.5 stone and was 7lbs away from target last spring/ summer. I've taken my eye off the ball and I'm 12lbs up🙈😪. It just shows you if you just eat a little more it has a huge effect. I don't eat much differently, but probably more car

Puffalicious · 01/05/2022 15:51

Argh! Posted before I'd finished!

more carbs/ snacks and not doing IF.

Annoyingly, I've been an ANGEL this week- back to IF and MFP tracking, but weighed today and I'm the same! My period started very lightly so I'm hoping it's just that. I've also had a big birthday - 50😱- since I was on, and peri- menopause is flapping her wings around me, so I know it'll be harder at the minute.

SW: 12 3 (I was 11 5)
TW: 10 12 - BMI 24

Sunshinecake1 what on EARTH has happened? Are you okay my 🐢 friend? I'm worried about you now!

SunshineCake1 · 01/05/2022 17:23

@DFI000 you are still making good progress with what you are doing. I found that when I was doing well with exercise it made me want to make sensible choices with food and when the weight was coming off it made me keep going with the running and IF.

Welcome @ElderflowerTonic Would you manage with crisps as a one night a week snack? Sometimes if you try and cut something out completely it becomes more of a I must have some situation. Or is that just me??

You can do it @buzzofthebumblebee and it is only 5lbs, as opposed to my 21!

Wonderful to read you are chilled about your slight gain @TheRealHousewife . You'll be fine.

You will do it @SanFranBear I am thinking I need to learn about kg as I have no idea what anyone weighs or has lost as I am old school with stones and pounds.

It being a good evening is all that matters @HouseofHolbein .

Welcome @Trounlet. What is your plan?

Giving up coke is a huge benefit @AnyoneElseFeelDone .

Hurray!! @Puffalicious is back. I have missed you 🐢🐢🐢. I had to have some dental work done. I expected swelling. I did not expect to look like I had been in a fight. It hasn't been a great few weeks with DD so tbh being stuck in - I don't want to go out looking like this - has its positives and negatives.

@Graphista - where are you??

Echobelly · 01/05/2022 18:10

Ugh, but having a day out was a bit of a chore. As I expected lunch 'blew' most of my remaining credit, and DH and I ended up trying to go to the cinema (having sent kids home, now oldest can look after youngest), but cinema show was sold out - there was something we wanted to see an hour later and honestly if I could have sat down with a cake and some drinks for that time I would have (we'd already walked a lot) so I said no to hanging around, although I didn't tell him why as I felt like such a spoilsport.

I know you'll go a bit over some days and I'm fine with this, but this would have been way too much and I believe in making some effort. It's especially annoying given I don't have too much to lose and haven't lost much so far so the stakes aren't even very high but I want to give it a go, because there will come a time when losing weight becomes more critical.

TheRealHousewife · 01/05/2022 18:11

@fallfallfall Crumbs that is a huge change for your mum. Sorry to read she’s had a stroke. Being in her supported apartment will be safer and bring peace of mind for all of you. Good luck 🤞

@Puffalicious A warm welcome back to the thread ☺️ I can’t believe it’s been months that you last posted, time passes so fast it’s scary. 😮 Congratulations 🥳 on your recent Birthday 🥳 You’ll soon get back into it. You’ve done it before, you can do it again! Good luck.

@SunshineCake Thank you.

Posting a pic of my dinner. 881 calories, including gluten free Yorkshire's and gluten free stuffing (not had for a long time) I know that’s a lot but as OMAD it’s ok. I didn’t have my dessert of strawberries & cream; if I don’t have in next half hour I won’t bother. I’ll roll them over and have after lunch or dinner tomorrow in keeping with IF.

Oh dental work is awful. I remember the pain of wisdom teeth removal some 25 years ago. 2 black eyes and a cracked jaw led one of my pupils (secondary) to sympathetically ask ' Boyfriend trouble, miss?' 😀 Jeez!

Please take it easy: rest and be looked after.

🐢🐢🐢 is back! Positivity all the way! It's taken a week for me to stop feeling RAVENOUS! I think my body is starting to adjust now. I'm making lots of soup so my stomach is fooled by lots of volume!🤣

TheRealHousewife · 01/05/2022 18:13

Crossposted with @Echobelly I agree it’s harder to lose if you’re near goal. Due diligence will get you there!

Thank you for the welcome back TheRealHousewife. It's such a lovely, welcoming place. I'm focused on it for sure.

fallfallfall · 01/05/2022 18:18

her stroke @TheRealHousewife has been what appears to be very mild, and her personality is so mellow appreciative and sweet (vs a bit tough love and confrontational pre stroke) so a pleasure to be around. one meal a day, monthly housekeeping and lots of activities (pool, bowling alley, dancing, movie room, craft room, 3 stunningly beautiful libraries, chapel.) oh and a rooftop garden.
certainly sold us she's got reservations but damn it looks like a sweet arrangement.

TheRealHousewife · 01/05/2022 18:48

@fallfallfall Good to read the stroke wasn’t too severe. Is the one meal day your mums idea or is that what is provided? The place sounds fantastic with all those facilities and activities!

You’re very welcome @Puffalicious … I’m still shook about the length of time since you posted. In my minds eye just seems weeks rather than months!

Trounlet · 01/05/2022 19:29

I'm going to do 16:8 with an element of life carbing, and cutting out alcohol. I'm also upping my steps to 10k per day. I've downloaded MFP and Methreesixty (I did my first scan this morning and that was sobering).

I'm 51 and about 110kg (I'll weigh on Wednesday)and hope to lose 15kg before my holiday, I'd really like to lose 25kg in total by the end if the year.

I'm also going to focus on improving me over the next 13 weeks; so hair, skin care, brows, nails and improving my sleep.

Good luck all, small steps are still steps in the right direction.

Echobelly · 01/05/2022 19:31

Thanks @TheRealHousewife - I'm giving this a month, where I probably won't reach goal by that time, but then I'm going on holiday for a week somewhere it'll be just too difficult to manage (Eastern Europe, 'light meals' are not a thing). That said, there are nice soups, so maybe I should try and have some soup meals.

That said, I thought I'd be ravenous this evening but I wasn't and just eating a bowl of veg (charitably can be described as salad) was surprisingly filling and has actually left me enough credit for some dark choc to end the day, so I might do that. And maybe my body's adjusting a bit to lower cals.

Going to my sister's for lunch tomorrow and warned her what I'm doing so salad option would be good, so she said she'd lay on some pizza, quiche and salads (she's not a big cook!) - I'll probably have a slice of pizza and a tonne of salad for lunch then.
