☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

What?! Well, he has no excuse whatsoever then @SunshineCake !

SunshineCake · 30/05/2022 19:32

He's been told what I would like next time !!

Benjispruce4 · 30/05/2022 19:49

@CrimsonAlligator thats sounds right up my street, will make some. I can see that you’d need a good snack with all that rowing. I’m just back from my second dog walk and got drenched to the skin. Badly timed or what?
L- salad with a blob of hummus, apple
D- tuna and wholewheat pasta in a tomato and chilli sauce. Kiwi

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 30/05/2022 19:54

Hi all, just a quick check in to say still alive and feeling as hungry as a thin person if nothing else but my window has been and gone so that's it till tomorrow! 10 days till a big family thing on DHs side so want to look my best.

Glad you've managed to salvage something @Echobelly

Well done @SunshineCake How did the talk to?

Thanks for the June thread@TheRealHousewife the year has flown by and the school year is nearly done! 😬

Good luck for WOW. I reckon I'm 1.5kg off for May if my sneaky peak over the weekend stays put.

SunshineCake · 30/05/2022 22:08

Nice to see you back @AnyoneElseFeelDone . Talk went better than expected but I'll be amazed if she's still living here by the weekend. She doesn't want to be here with us Sad.

SanFranBear · 30/05/2022 23:10

I'm sorry to read your latest message, Sunshine, but if you've got your line in the sand, you have to stay strong. At least it wasn't as bad as it could've been!

Massive congrats on your speedy 5k as well - I'm really impressed! Running is so beyond me so very well done! As is rowing, so very impressive stuff too, CrimsonAlligator! You guys are so active!

Hope you're feeling much better and almost over your dose of Covid, Benji. Looks like you've stuck with making healthy choices which is great!

Some good losses mentioned, especially yours, Gakatsbsk... today is normally one of my lower calorie days but had went to see Dr Strange with friends so had fish and chips for dinner... was bloody lovely but had too many chips. Still under my daily goal but I do like to push it a couple of times a week - especially this week as I just know I'll gain from my holiday.

GonnaGetGoing - I tend not to snack very much as my choices are always a little dodgy (not fruit, basically) but I will admit I bloody love boiled eggs, so perhaps hard boil a few and keep them to hand - lots of protein.

Right, need to get myself in gear for tomorrow - going to attempt to reattach our roof box or I am never getting all our camping stuff in the car.. so paranoid it'll come off but I'm sure it'll be fine!!

SunshineCake · 31/05/2022 05:37

Thank you @SanFranBear . The result is the same though even though she didn't leave immediately. She thinks we kicked her out last time so will think the same again. She's making her own choices and they are bad ones but she will not let anyone help her Sad. I haven't slept well and have been awake ages. I think I annoyed a friend yesterday and I really wanted to see them, still hoping I can see them today instead but I'm not hopeful. If not I am going to go shopping and see if I can get some jubilee stuff. I want bunting and cake. Going to have a day off from running as I have some pain and I think I run better with a days break. Having said that, mentally I feel I need it. Time away from everyone and everything

HouseofHolbein · 31/05/2022 07:34

Well this is my month. I was 2lb lower at one point but I went out at the weekend 🤣🤣

Still heading down mostly so that’s good. Ready for June now!

TheRealHousewife · 31/05/2022 08:47

Good Morning 😊

Had a sneak peek on scales and .5lb down from last week. Not a lot but will be happy for it to stick.

Good numbers for a positive start to June @HouseofHolbein 👍

@GonnaGetGoingReturns I’m not sure if you calorie count/micro count or not but ultimately if any snacks fall within your personal allowances you’ll be ok. Personally I make sure I have protein (skin, hair & nails like protein) at each meal and that staves off the need to snack. I totally understand we are not all the same though. Nuts, apple & peanut butter or a small piece of cheese are satiating and tasty enough to just have small snacks without busting targets. < I’m sure there is a simpler way to say all this 😬 As long as cals in doesn’t exceed cals out you’ll be fine whatever you choose to have 😬

@SunshineCake Good run 👍

@SanFranBear Good luck with the roof box!

Hi @Gakatsbsk Just 😮 on your 1st 5lb loss in 4 weeks. Like you say it will slow down. Eating nutritious food is important if you’re cutting cals as our bodies work hard to make/renew muscles, skin, hair, nails and keep our internal stuff nice and healthy too. Is your consultant monitoring your adhd meds?

@Graphista 😬😅

Menu
Meal 1 - Home Made vegetable soup (out of freezer) Pecan nuts, apple.
Meal 2 - Soufflé Omelette & Salad.
Tea, coffee, water.

Just jumping in to say a quick hi 👋 busy week over here, half term underway, had a long day out with 7yo in London at the weekend, LOADS of walking, but then went out with a friend when we got home. Doing a lot out in the garden, it's starting to be a space I want to spend time in again. Few more hours needed this weekend, looking forward to it now I'm back into it as a hobby. Neither child sleeping brilliantly at the moment so I'm feeling a tad flatter of than normal. I'm going to weigh tomorrow this week instead of my normal Friday (or might do both). I'll post closing May weight/starting June weight tomorrow. Off to play centre now, the joys!

TheRealHousewife · 31/05/2022 08:51

Hi @ImALittlePea (cross posted) I was thinking of you today and how you might be doing. Spending time in the garden is therapeutic and rewarding and like you said, it makes it more enjoyable to want to be in there chillin’ too … a happy productive circle that benefits everyone. Hope the children start sleeping better! Sleep deprivation sucks!

Benjispruce4 · 31/05/2022 08:54

@TheRealHousewife that is an amazing loss!! Well done . I’m not surprised though, your meal plans are always on point. How many calories are you sticking to, 1000?

TheRealHousewife · 31/05/2022 09:52

Hi @Benjispruce4 it was .5lb 😬. I average between 1100 -1200. I’m not very tall - 5ft on a good day and I’m disabled so my energy needs are below average in comparison to the average population. Plus I have a medicated inactive thyroid, autoimmune disease and celiac. It’s very hard for me to lose. I’m more or less at goal so I’m happy with small loses or to even maintain. But thank you 🙏😊

OP posts:
Benjispruce4 · 31/05/2022 10:04

Ah ok @TheRealHousewife I did misread that as 5!!! Sorry! But still it’s a loss and you’re at goal so still a well done.😇

SunshineCake · 31/05/2022 13:31

Logging a 4.4lb nett loss for May. Obviously been down and up etc but going on May 1st today it is 4.4lbs.

I have been awake since half four, struggled to go to sleep then woke several times. Decided to miss running and walking the dog and went shopping instead. Had what I think was a panic attack in M&S and had to message dh. Then in the next shop the assistant was really rude to me and it made me very tearful. Got the shopping and came home. Friend couldn't meet up and I have no motivation to do anything.

DD not talking to us. When I called her she stuck her head in the room but said nothing when I told her what I had put in the freezer for her. Don't know what to do as she won't let us help her and doesn't trust the doctors. Just waiting to see if she is leaving imminently or waiting until July when she has a room rented for two months Sad.

Benjispruce4 · 31/05/2022 13:43

Sorry to hear that @SunshineCake . Does your Dd have a job? How does she pay rent elsewhere?
Have you ever sought help for you? Do you think it would help if you could talk things through with someone unconnected? 💐

TheRealHousewife · 31/05/2022 13:44

Sending a hug @SunshineCake ❤️

SunshineCake · 31/05/2022 13:46

No @Benjispruce4 she doesn't have a job. We spoke with dh old employer when she was home after her second attempt on her life and a couple of weeks ago he offered her a job. She said no as might have plans Hmm. She is using savings and her student loan. I told her not to spend it as they will want it back. They have now realised and are knocking it off next years if she goes back. So she won't have enough if she spends it all. We have stopped giving her money.

We are trying to find a support group but haven't had luck so far.

Thank you @TheRealHousewife .

Benjispruce4 · 31/05/2022 13:50

I’m sorry @SunshineCake it just sounds like you really need an outlet. I hope things work out.

ImALittlePea · 31/05/2022 15:12

Thank you for thinking of me @TheRealHousewife well done on the end-of-month loss!

I've still been lurking on the thread but not as active, I've just been trying to spend less time on my phone. Definitely finding myself enjoying the gardening and the garden-chilling again, although I've accidentally done 'no mow May' so need to tackle the lawn a bit later if I have time.

Feel annoyed with myself today though, I did the food shop hungry and bought myself silly treats (crisps) that I didn't need, but I'm eating now they're in the house 🤦‍♀️ so I'm not expecting anything on the scales tomorrow, although I'm hoping all the walking and gardening activity will help minimise any impact.

I did quite a healthy meal plan this week but forgot that DH is in the office/other changes to normal schedule mean some of the dinners will be hard to cook (18mo doesn't make it easy to cook more complicated meals without DH around). So trying to work out how not to slide totally off plan in 'fuck it' mode. I know I feel better for sticking to healthy and home cooked, just got to keep that in the front of my mind when I can't be bothered. I'm sure you all get it.

Hugs to you @SunshineCake ❤️

CrimsonAlligator · 31/05/2022 15:25

I’m so sorry to read your update @SunshineCake . What an awful situation for you to be in.

I’m finishing May with an impressive (for all the wrong reasons) gain of 2 kg. So much for trying to maintain this month 😂 It’s ok though. I know why it happened and that will hopefully increase my chances of not letting it happen again. I’ve started working with my work’s HR department to tackle the issues that caused all this mess in the first place. I’ve no idea how far that will get me, but there’s at least a small glimmer of hope that may be someday things will be a tiny bit better.

Finally, I’ve just added up my km for this month for 2022 km in 2022. I’ve made it to 1385 km so far this year 🥳

SunshineCake · 31/05/2022 16:46

Thanks @CrimsonAlligator . I feel it is hell. She is barely talking to us. Not eating with us. Hasn't left the house today unless while I was out. Yet, she will want lifts at the weekend, another in ten days then driving 200 ish miles and back two months later then back again a month later. I said to dh today she need to stop expecting lifts etc while treating us so cruelly.

I am so tired having struggled to sleep and have been awake since 4.30ish. Hoping I can text chat with a friend later. Just tried to google for help with coping with things but not sure anything is right and a the Samaritans seems too drastic. Also, years ago I messaged them about an emotional problem and they said message back in a few days and when I asked why they said I might have worked it out by then ConfusedSad.

In other news, I couldn't get any bunting today which I am disappointed about .

Benjispruce4 · 31/05/2022 18:39

Ok so last May post.
B- mashed avocado on seedy toast
L- 2 brown rice cakes with hummus and tomatoes, apple, satsuma
D- baked miso salmon fillet with stirfry veg and a small amount of noodles.
