☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

@milkfromthesleepycow I bought bulk pea protein and while I love mushy peas and all types of pulses & I just couldn't stomach it 😝
I'm veggie so was trying to up my protein without eating my weight in cheese as always.

Flowers111 · 04/05/2022 19:34

Lunch today was - pasta salad with a peanut dressing;
Dinner - quorn sausage patties x2 in a bun with cup of baked beans;
Snacks - crunchie ice cream and frozen grapes.
Feel very full and bloated but hopefully will be ok tomorrow - overate yesterday, have 300 cals left today apparently.
No exercise too tired.

HouseofHolbein · 04/05/2022 20:56

I’ve been for a run this evening a steady 3.5 miles 😊 done 26k steps in total.

bought chips on my way home 😅 bloody lovely they were as well !

Wizzwazzwas · 04/05/2022 22:10

Belatedly checking in for May. I managed to lose 2.4kg overall in April. Less than I hoped, but not bad considering all the holidays. I also significantly upped my exercise and have just finished c25k week 4.

SW: 91.5kg
CW: 83.4kg

Now to keep it up!

ShopoholicIn · 04/05/2022 23:03

Hi @TheRealHousewife ,
I am starting with jogging again after a long break, along with IF.

SanFranBear · 04/05/2022 23:16

Some amazing results for your WoWs this week - great to see so many recording a loss and even if it's a STS, given we're only just over Easter holidays, I say that's a win. I'll weigh in on Friday as per usual - probably just as well as with one thing and another (walk, weekly shop, hot bath, chopping bloody shallots!), I didn't eat until gone 10pm today!

Buuuuut, totally worth it! My WoW involved a beautiful walk in & around Winchester, a city I have never really visited which is daft seeing as it's 20 minutes up the road. It turned into a stunning evening, such beautiful sunshine. I tried to get a photo to do it justice but didn't really succeed but I'll share anyway - this is from the top of St Catherine's Hill with all of Winchester spread out below..

My weight this morning was 10st 12lbs. I'm short and I weighed exactly 10st when covid hit so that's almost a stone gained in two years.
I'm going to start tomorrow in proper earnest. I'm not going to have breakfast and I'm going to stick to only eating from 11 to 7. No cheat days for the next week. I hope that might kick start the weight loss for me.

Benjispruce4 · 05/05/2022 07:34

I weigh every day when I’m trying to lose because it keeps me focused. Anyway, another 1lb is off this morning! I know it’s probably water fluctuations but for the last 3 weeks it has only gone up or stayed the same so I’m so happy to see the downward trend especially as I’ve not been hungry. Really focusing on only putting nutritious stuff in my body and making sure I get enough healthy protein in each meal.

Good Morning

So many posts since yesterday morning. Apologies if I miss any!

@ElderflowerTonic It’s surprising how the weight can creep on without noticing! Try not to panic. Only miss breakfast if it doesn’t make you feel ill or dizzy. I naturally don’t feel hungry in the AM, but on the rare occasions I’ve felt hungry I’ve eaten something. Consistency is the key. Good luck, you can do this 👍

@SanFranBear Lovely view! 😍

@ShopoholicIn sounds like a plan! Enjoy your jogs 🏃‍♀️

@Wizzwazzwas that is great progress and well done on your c25k!

Well done on your losses, awesome progress 👍👏 @CottonSock @HouseofHolbein @SunshineCake @CrimsonAlligator @Benjispruce4 @buzzofthebumblebee 🏅👏

@CrimsonAlligator I’m loving the growing! I’ve got a selection of flowers and veg going. The flower seedling are really going for it! I think it’s still a bit cool for my veggies. I had a cucumber seed pop through yesterday, which I’m pleased about.

@SunshineCake I love pottering in the garden. I’ve grown stuff before but didn’t get round to it last year. Nothing ambitious just stuff like toms, potatoes, lettuce, onions, carrots, herbs, green beans, peas etc. Once I did chilli and have started some seeds off again this year. We’ve got a greenhouse on order which will be really useful. I find pottering in the garden very therapeutic! Once I’m in I don’t want to come out! Enjoy your garden ❤️

Menu
Meal 1 - Grated Parmesan Green Salad.
Meal 2 - Chicken stir fry. Apple.
Tea, Coffee, Water.

Enjoy your day!

@Benjispruce4 cross posted. Fluctuating weigh is so frustrating but well done on your progress👍👏

OP posts:
Benjispruce4 · 05/05/2022 07:43

It was a loss so a downward fluctuation which is my favourite kind.😜

Echobelly · 05/05/2022 08:00

New scales definitely worth it - after a week swinging 1lb below or above starting weight which was frustrating, a 2lb drop today, which suggests that the previous scales weren't working properly/sufficient readable for me to tell properly!

TheRealHousewife · 05/05/2022 08:06

@Echobelly Fantastic! New scales👍

A downward fluctuation is definitely my favourite kind too @Benjispruce4 😬

I bet those chips were amazing @HouseofHolbein and well earned.

That is a great loss @Wizzwazzwas !

Beautiful area @SanFranBear .

That is a good plan @ElderflowerTonic , don't forget water.

Well done @Benjispruce4 Keep going.

Thanks @TheRealHousewife DH went out yesterday and bought some wood to build me a new greenhouse. He will reuse the shelves and cover from the one that was damaged in the storm. I did plant a hanging basket and two pots yesterday with flower bulbs but I do need to get more veg started off.

I have been waiting on scan results and was emailed them yesterday but they might as well be in a foreign language. I am hoping the doctor will have time to look at them today and I can ring this afternoon and be told all is okay. I have googled and eventually I found something that has given me some hope there isn't anything bad going on.

I am desperate to run outside but don't want any more looks due to my bruises but I'm not sure I can face the treadmill. I should though as I failed in my fasting yesterday and had toast at 9 which is annoying.

DH told me last night that DD is going away on Saturday, doesn't know how long for, so I am worried sick about that. I am terrified she will try again.

Hello all 👋🏻

I think this is my first post on this thread - I've rather lost track 🤨 Life has been super busy & my weight has been odd, I'm still not sure if I genuinely did put some lbs on & then lose them as my scales seemed to suggest, or whether they need new batteries! They seem to be back to normal now...but my body is off kilter generally. My period is very late, my cycle started messing about when I had Pfizer last year & my GP put it down to that (although said it could be peri) but it's gone off course again so I'm now thinking menopause is heading my way 🤔 (no risk of late pregnancy unless my girlfriend is particularly talented 😆)

The long & the short of it is that everything is out of whack I think 😀

Thurs 5th May - 9s 4lb
BMI 21.5
BF 24.1

Not bad stats, I'd still like them to be lower. We're away on holiday in 10 days so I'm going to try & get a bit of a loss in the bank before we leave I think 🤞🏻

Hope everyone is ok - sorry no time to catch up 🙂

CrimsonAlligator · 05/05/2022 10:26

Morning all! I didn’t have the best day yesterday, dealing with a stressed out DH. I’m at a point now, where my own stress doesn’t generally result in overeating, but there’s just something about seeing others stressed that pushes me over the edge 🤔

Anyway, that was yesterday and today is another day and another chance to try again. I did have a lovely walk. Sharing a picture here, to add to the spectacular scenery @SanFranBear has been posting

Sorry to hear yesterday was tough @CrimsonAlligator I hope today is better. I have tried to upload a photo but my phone says it is too big.

SunshineCake · 05/05/2022 11:45

Trying again. Not the best way but here is not quite a view, still nature but definitely not something I grew...

Haha.. I love your cats face, Sunshine! And so gorgeous although I struggle keeping on top of cat hair as it is and all that floofy fur... beautiful!

And CrimsonAlligator - what a fascinating view.. the way the countryside fades in the background is just stunning! Nature is fab!!

Fantastic results, Benji & Echobelly - great start heading into the weekend.

RealHousewife & Sunshine - I admire anyone who can get things growing and it sounds like you both have very green fingers (even if you claim they're simply things!) And new greenhouses on the horizon? My friend who I walk with occasionally has real greenhouse envy when we hit some of the villages in the New Forest - apparently, a brick foundation is the way forward? Who knew...

Extra hugs to you, Sunshine ☀️

What a floofer @SunshineCake !

I'm finding it helps on Noom to log my meals ahead of time so I know what I have left for everything else. I'm a 'little and often' sort of eater so I need my snacks.

So far today Skyr fat free yoghurt with strawberry (5tbsps), 1/4 cup blueberries and half a nectarine. TBH, think I'll got back to plain greek fat free yog with fruit and a handfull of porridge oats, as this has left me feeling a bit more peckish.

20 black grapes

Lunch 2-egg omlette with feta, mint and courgette (I'm glad to find feta is relatively low-cal, I think it's going to be my friend!)

Just had an orange juice with bits

Dinner's going to be miso with baby corn, brocolli, soya sauce, splash of sesame oil and 25g of wholemeal noodles.

So leaves me c400 cals for rest of day - which is good as I want to go to the gym later!

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 05/05/2022 16:34

Hi, just a quick message to say well done to you all. I did hop on the scales this morning and it's going down but only about 3 days in 0.2kg. will check again over the weekend.

Take care all
