☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

WOW! 2lb off!😇
I’m amazed as only been 3 days of lower calorie so maybe the two weeks of 18:6 have contributed after all. I don’t really care just so pleased to see the numbers change. Congratulations OP and good luck everyone else.

ginsparkles · 04/05/2022 07:48

So wow today as expected was a gain after the indulgent bank holiday. Plus it's the time of the month looking. Will not feel sorry for myself will be determined and carry on.

Have just booked a holiday for next Easter so that's the goal. Back to target weight by the time we head off on hols.

Today I'm off to the gym, and then determined not to sit and pick at food today so lots of jobs to do!

Meals are:
Lunch ham sandwich on seeded bread with hippea chickpea crisps
Dinner baked potato with tuna.

buzzofthebumblebee · 04/05/2022 08:25

Hope today is a bit better for you @ImALittlePea

Looking forward to a pic from your next walk @SanFranBear

Yes - I'm in for a booze-free month @Flowers111 - not as strict as I was in DryJan, but I'll definitely aim for dry rather than damp. My alcohol had crept back up to wet. Started drinking wine again which plays havoc with my mood as well as hikes sugar cravings - and then snacking. So if I do lapse this month, it will be on a GnT (slimline) and only socially. A couple of birthdays out to celebrate, so I won't decline, just restrain.

WOW was a surprising loss, back to 11 4.5 (from my high of 11 7) - so only 2.5 lbs above my low of 11 2. I don't attribute ANY of this loss to food restrictions and being good, so no congrats earned or deserved. I think I can safely say the majority of my recent fluctuations are to the very bad state of my digestive system. You nailed it on the head a couple of days ago @Benjispruce4 . Whenever I diet, my digestive system shuts down too - which can leave me for a week without going to the loo - so uncomfortable. Nothing to do with my diet itself - which is probably 50% vegetables, high fibre carbs whenever I have carbs (brown rice, seeds, wholewheat options) and lean protein. Plus loads water. Just my body deciding to hold onto everything. Sorry for TMI but good to chat to someone who understands !! Sorry to lower the tone everyone ; )

Yesterday my food was:
B - berries, natural greek yoghurt + mixed seeds
L - Chicken salad
D - baked salmon, roast veg & brown rice
NO snacking, NO alcohol !!

A few more weeks like this and I'll be well & truly back on track.

Have a good day everyone !

CrimsonAlligator · 04/05/2022 09:28

Morning all! 72.9 kg on the scales for me this morning. It’s less than last Wednesday’s readings, but as my scales have been playing up I hesitate to call it a loss.

I’d say that excitement at watching seeds sprouts is anything but a sign you’re getting old @TheRealHousewife . Plenty of kids would find it absolutely fascinating too, so I think it shows you’re young at heart! 😊

My plan for today:
Breakfast - Skyr, fruit & seeds
Lunch - Roasted pepper & lentil soup, pitta & cheese
Dinner - Smoky aubergine tagine with bulgur wheat

SunshineCake · 04/05/2022 10:29

I hope everything is getting sorted @ImALittlePea and you are doing okay.

I would claim it @buzzofthebumblebee ! A loss is a loss.

I am joining the old crew @TheRealHousewife as I get ridiculously excited when anything I have planted has grown. Already my potatoes are sprouting and my pot of flowers looks healthy. DH is going to build me a greenhouse after my last two blew down so I will be able to get more veg going. So far I have sweetcorn, beetroot, leeks, spring onions, herbs, chillis, pepper and courgettes. Still need to get spinach, carrots and parsnips going.

Now, don't anyone faint but I am WOW and logging a loss of 1.6lbs since Sunday so third time lucky. It has given me such a huge boost and a reminder that I have to be fully in IF for it to work with me and I don't feel deprived as a I had a couple of chocolates yesterday and some berry strudel for dessert at dinner time. I have just baked some mince pies to use up some pastry and lunch will be a ciabatta roll with roast beef, grated cheese and lots of salad leaves. Dinner will be a mince and onion pie from Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food food. Not claiming it is healthy but I bought the 5% fat beef mince and will do a lot of veg on the side and make the pie piece smaller than usual. We rarely eat red meat but feel we need the iron.

I am getting fed up and a little concerned at home exhausted I am even when I first wake. I have run 3.1km on the treadmill then showered and put a wash on but everything feels so much hard work. Even just breathing. I am sure it is because of the anxiety over DD and the feeling like we have been holding our breath since January. TBH I am worried about the affect on my heart and I know that is probably over dramatic and definitely selfish but I have two other children to care for as well as DH and our animals and I am just so worried and scared all the time.

That's how you being the thread down, sorry guys.

Flowers111 · 04/05/2022 11:27

Thanks @

Flowers111 · 04/05/2022 11:27

Thanks @Echobelly - although I'm a bit afraid to change scales now in case I'm actually a stone heavier 😀

Flowers111 · 04/05/2022 11:29

@buzzofthebumblebee - senecot tablet before bed is great or if you need something stronger - dulcolax is super, works 6 hours later and really clears me out anyway. TMI sorry ! But constip is the pits. I reckon I'm allergic to dairy & was told before I'm sensitive to wheat but I still keep trying 🤣

buzzofthebumblebee · 04/05/2022 11:42

Happy dance for @SunshineCake for your loss and all-round general wonderfulness. You ARE definitely doing something right. Your baking sounds delicious. Look after that heart of yours too - physically and emotionally.

Thx Flowers - Senna has other side effects. Will try dulcolax next time. ; )

Well done on your loss too @CrimsonAlligator - and for your meal plans which help to keep me on track. Please may I ask where aubergine tagine recipe can be found? sounds delicious

buzzofthebumblebee · 04/05/2022 11:43

And well done on your loss too @TheRealHousewife Star

ImALittlePea · 04/05/2022 11:47

Well done to everyone weighing in today - some fab losses and fab positivity from those with other results.

I had a great on-plan day yesterday, and so far on track today too.

Yesterday:
Lunch - 1/2 tin soup
Dinner - Quorn escalope, crushed roasted new potatoes (my FAVOURITE thing at the moment) and loads of veggies
Snacks - tea, satsuma, strawberries, small chunk of cheese

Today:
Lunch - the rest of yesterday's soup
Dinner - homemade spaghetti bolognese with some parmesan and a salad (and NO garlic bread for me this time!)
Snacks - tea and probably some fruit.

Hopefully a few good days will mitigate Friday's impending weight gain a little 🤞

To this asking (sorry, I can't remember who to tag), we're fine. Repairs are underway. I'm still seething about it, police are nowhere to be seen, but then tbf there isn't any evidence 😥 but I'm not going to let it take up any more headspace. I just hope karma does its thing one day.

CrimsonAlligator · 04/05/2022 11:54

Well done @SunshineCake 🥳 and everyone else who registered a loss, or a “stay the same” this week.

@buzzofthebumblebee , here’s a link to the recipe:

www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/smoky-aubergine-tagine-lemon-apricots

It’s delicious & nutritious and a nice change from all the usual flavours I put in my food. Even though I love lemons in cooking, I find the amount of lemon in this recipe a little overwhelming. It’s much nicer with half the recommended amount. Apart from that, it’s a great recipe ☺️

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 04/05/2022 13:08

Hi all, just a quick check in. I forgot it's Wednesday. Will have to hop on the scales tomorrow.

Well done to everyone who has lost or even just stuck with it whether the scales have moved or not.

Things relatively good. Hugs sunshine

SunshineCake · 04/05/2022 13:12

Thank you @buzzofthebumblebee @AnyoneElseFeelDone and @CrimsonAlligator

I didn't have the cheese but did have lots of leaves which came with grated beetroot and one mince pie which was nice. Trying to get some energy to go and do something other than sitting and looking at the dog.

CrimsonAlligator · 04/05/2022 13:45

I forgot to add to my post @SunshineCake , how’s your vitamin B intake? Stress is known to deplete vitamin B stores at a rapid rate, which will leave you feeling drained. If if you don’t have a high intake of those vitamins, it may be worth getting a supplement. I use nutritional yeast (available from Holland & Barrett’s and large supermarkets) as a quick & natural way to top them up.

Trounlet · 04/05/2022 13:47

First weigh in for me, and I was spot on with my guess at 110kg.

I've started well on the 16:8 fasting and target of 1200 calories.

Yesterday
Lunch butternut squash soup
Dinner roast beef salad
Snacks semi skimmed milk for coffee and an orange

Today
L Spinach 2x egg omelette
Dinner will be veg chilli with a small portion of rice
Snacks semi skimmed milk for coffee and an orange.

Excellent to see so many loses, here's to morelos this week.

HouseofHolbein · 04/05/2022 13:56

Hello! I weighed in this morning and I’ve lost my alcohol induced weight from the weekend which is good 👍 aim is to lose a couple of pounds this month and keep it off 😊

SunshineCake · 04/05/2022 15:43

@CrimsonAlligator I do take various supplements but none are specifically vitamin B. There is one I take which may have vitamin B in so I will check that. Thank you.

Great start @Trounlet and well done @HouseofHolbein .

Morred · 04/05/2022 16:46

Well done on your losses everyone 🤗And welcome to the other newbies like me.

I am down 1kg this morning on the scales, which must be a bit of a fluke but I'm counting it anyway.

SW: 94.8
CW: 93.8
GW: 90kg (current goal)

Benjispruce4 · 04/05/2022 17:09

Great losses😀
B-30g oats with water, yoghurt and berries
L-chicken and new potato salad again, apple
D- chicken curry with brown rice, kiwi fruit.
Drinks- lots of green tea, black tea and water all day.

Benjispruce4 · 04/05/2022 17:10

Oh forgot cals- under 1200

milkfromthesleepycow · 04/05/2022 18:20

Maintain for me this week
SW 90.9
CW 76.7
Went way way off plan over last few days and taking a break from strength training, so not surprised and just happy it's not a gain!
Plan to plod on with couch 2 5k, yoga and getting my protein intake for a couple of weeks. Aiming for around 1500 calories so not expecting to lose much but find I'm becoming a little obsessed with my food intake (hence going off plan in a 'fuck it' kind of way!) so I think it'll be better for me to back off a little bit.

Looks like everyone's doing great!

There was someone upthread talking about protein powders- I use bulk clear whey isolate. It's 86 kcal per drink, 20g protein and the apple and blackcurrant and the cherry are palatable!

buzzofthebumblebee · 04/05/2022 18:28

Looks delicious thanks @CrimsonAlligator . I'll make it next week (friends coming over for dinner)

No fluke @Morred - well done, 1kg is a great loss !

Your menu and food planning looks great @Trounlet - you'll be a good chunk down in a couple of months and feel so much better for it!

CottonSock · 04/05/2022 18:38

I've done well this week as lost more water weight from a lot of boozing over easter. 1.75lbs.
Still no wine so hopefully next week I see another loss.
Have a night out, a day out and a work trip so going to be hard. Hotel stay and cooked breakfast plus dinner on expenses. Last time I got the healthy option and it was so disappointing

Puffalicious · 04/05/2022 19:10

Amazing results everyone! Whoop, whoop!

When I restarted I inexplicably started on a Sunday! So I'm weighing this Sunday. I'll try and work it back to a WOW soon.

Decent day -

Lunch Baked Potato, grated cheese and salad. An apple.

Dinner: Greens home-made soup. A nectarine.

Snacks: 2X Babybel, low fat yoghurt, tea with milk.

Until I hit the Lindor chocolate egg😤. It's time of the month, so I understand why, but I MUST stop!
