☀️THE SUMMER COUNTDOWN THREAD ☀️

Fresh new month, fresh new start, fresh new habits. Jump right in to reset & refresh to become a healthier version of yourself in time for a Sizzling Summer!

As no one size fits all, members need to follow their own way of eating to LOSE or MAINTAIN. This thread aims to offer guidance, support and a bit of hand holding.

We generally have WOW (Weigh On Wednesday) day each week. However post and share your progress as often or as little as you prefer. Do what works for you.

The important thing is not to think of it as a diet (based on deprivation and unsustainable) but more a way of life (sustainable & enjoyable).

I calorie count based on a lower carb Mediterranean diet. I intermittent fast and generally eat twice a day.

Are you in😊 What food plan will you be following? What do you want to change and why?

That’s fab @sunshine 👏🏻 well done!

SunshineCake · 14/05/2022 13:15

Thank you @Benjispruce4 . Well done on your jeans win!

Graphista · 14/05/2022 14:06

Finished yesterday on 1200 cals approx

Felt a bit hungry and definitely hungry now (just awake) but not horribly so just peckish I can live with that.

I'm thinking of ways to work around my new lifestyle now which I think I was reluctant to acknowledge before.

Home days need to be very low cal - any of you that do this regularly tips gratefully received!

Days out I'm planning a healthy lunch from home on the train going, and try my best to find low cal dinners in town (really finding this hard to do) and if I'm going cinema I'm gonna take a small bag of popcorn from a multipack at home and other low cal snacks, get a drink there as then it's nice and chilled but there are plenty of low cal drinks available.

Any other ideas I'm open to as well

I REALLY need to figure out the swimming thing too, where the pool is how to get there, best times to go

Dry here today but still pretty cool

@Echobelly no need to feel awkward I'm glad your dh is supportive

@ginsparkles thanks I'm hoping that method will work for me

Sorry for the loss of whoever is related to the earrings. A relative has had similar done and wears the jewellery every day it gives her comfort I think.

Yesterday

L - scrambled eggs with diced veg and a salad with fat free dressing, apple and choc pot

D - ready meal (I REALLY need to sort the saucepan situation out! Ordered some and they arrived bent out of shape the lids won't fit! Got a refund ok but still stuck with the pans! Don't know whether to try and use them no lids - I rarely use lids anyway but with energy costs rising I know that they can make cooking faster)

NO DESSERT

Supper - 2 slices wholemeal toast (larger loaf BUT previously I'd have 4 slices I was kidding myself I'd only have 2 slices of the smaller loaf but it never happened) and a little no added sugar jam (which I actually prefer to normal Jam fruitier taste)

Snack - small pack Twiglets, Jaffa cake bar

Drinks - probiotic yogurt drink, water and earl grey tea with sweetener

It occurred to me if I wanna weigh/look like what a normal person who doesn't eat loads I need to eat like a normal person who doesn't eat loads! Sounds obvious but I think you guys will get it

@ImALittlePea If you're in a healthy range then it's personal preference isn't it? You could cut down more at weekends but do you really want to? Re activity what can you do what do you enjoy? Maybe something that tones you up would work?

@SunshineCake well done on the no cake nsv so glad you're having a good day.

@Puffalicious sounds great fun, I remember eve like that with dd and her friends, with family been a while though

@SanFranBear gorgeous pic I am no expert! I still have a lot to lose but hoping I've got the knowledge to do so

@Benjispruce4 well done on the jeans nsv I'm the same with savoury rather than sweet being what I find hardest! Hence the carrots and salad stuff being my way to get that hit

@milkfromthesleepycow I've 2 new swimsuits. One is boring cover up black style? One is a mint green slightly more revealing style hoping I'll soon have the confidence to wear it

At the moment I'm apprehensive even about wearing the black one! It's been a long time since I've been seen in public that way! It's not just the weight that affects my confidence, it's my skin and scars etc which of course I showed last time I was like this in public but cos it's been a while I've lost confidence

If anyone ever invents genuinely waterproof concealer and foundation I'll be so grateful!

ginsparkles · 14/05/2022 14:25

Thank you @SunshineCake that's the key isn't it? Every now and then!

@Graphista my dad died suddenly last year, so the earrings are from him. Simple diamond studs, I have wanted them for a long time and am lucky enough to work in a jewellers so felt it was the most me kind of tribute!

Graphista · 14/05/2022 14:39

That's a lovely tribute to him @ginsparkles

ginsparkles · 14/05/2022 14:57

@Graphista thank you. I have also bought some for my daughter which I'll give her on her 18th

Flowers111 · 14/05/2022 15:44

Hi all, quick hello as out and about.
Update:
Still fat.
Exercising every day, calorie counting, off booze, intermittent fasting some days.
Still same weight if not more.
The universe is playing a joke on me 😭😭😭😭
Or it'll all fall off this week.
Seriously considering meds of some kind if they were safe.
Sick of being fat !
I would love to lose a stone asap.

milkfromthesleepycow · 14/05/2022 16:46

@Flowers111 I'm betting it falls off in the next few weeks. Probably just your body readjusting it's set point?

@Graphista the first time I went swimming in January (also in a covering black leg suit) I made it as far as changing and walking to within sight of the pool. Next time I got in. Baby steps

This was my walk today, 'twas lovely

SunshineCake · 14/05/2022 17:19

Try to keep the faith @Flowers111 it is doing you good even if the scales don't agree. You will be die a whoosh and don't forget sometimes the tape measure is kinder than the scales.

Flowers111 · 14/05/2022 18:18

@SunshineCake & @milkfromthesleepycow
Thanks - am about to drag myself around a 0-5km 🥲🥲 when phone charged enough.

TheRealHousewife · 14/05/2022 18:24

@milkfromthesleepycow fabulous scenery 😍😍😍

OP posts:
Benjispruce4 · 14/05/2022 21:56

B- oats with water, berries, chia and a tbsp yoghurt , tea, espresso
L- Whole packet of King prawns with green salad., apple
D- Roast chicken with homemade low fat coleslaw and brown rice salad.
2 slimline tonics. 😇

HouseofHolbein · 15/05/2022 07:56

Weighed in this morning at 9st 7.8lb 😊 happy with that. I ate some chocolate yesterday and really enjoyed it but it was in my eating window. I ignored the mint matchmakers that were out after tea 🤣🤣

expecting to carry on being up and down but hopefully less ups. Think the water and IF has done the trick 😊

best get up and sort the kitchen out before the shopping comes 😊 work at 12:30 then tomorrow off!

SunshineCake · 15/05/2022 08:25

Sorry @Flowers111 due a whoosh. Don't want anyone dying! I will try and remember to proof read as my iPad clearly hates me.

Well done on avoiding the matchmakers and with you weigh in @HouseofHolbein .

IF definitely is what helps me though my dd confused me. I have to fast for 16 hours before my app says I am fat burning then more before I get ketosis. She says they are the same thing. I'm confused.

Going for a run once I get up then will walk the dog or meet her with dh if they have set off. I left them yesterday after fifty minutes and SunshineDog was NOT happy that I went Sad.

Tomorrow DD goes. DH says he will start worrying on Tuesday. I feel like I will be holding my breath until we get the text on Friday to say what time to pick her up from the station. Every time since attempt number 1 that she has gone away she has ended up in hospital Sad💔with every time except once an attempt. The last time she said not really when asked if she had tried to.

TheRealHousewife · 15/05/2022 09:18

Good Morning Everyone

Congratulations to Ukraine 🇺🇦 #eurovision 👏

@HouseofHolbein great result!

@Flowers111 sorry I didn’t see your post yesterday. It was sad reading. I don’t know how old you are but could your thyroid be playing up? I only say this as I went through the same a couple of years ago. Doing all the right things but weight going up. Turns out my thyroid was under active, now medicated. Try not to be despondent and don’t give up. I realise it’s tough when we are not rewarded on the scales.

@SunshineCake Enjoy your run 🏃‍♀️ 👍

Menu
Meal 1 - Big Breakfast Brunch - Egg, grilled chipolata, grilled bacon, beans, grilled toms & brown sauce = 465 cals.

Meal 2 - Spicy Egg Tortilla - Small corn tortilla, 4 chorizo slices, 2 eggs, 10ml double cream, 10 grams grated Parmesan, scracihi sauce = 433 cals
Tea, coffee, water = 125 cals

Your second meal sounds absolutely delicious, RealHousewife - right up my alley. I've just had some Weetabix (always take our time getting going on Sundays) so probably a couple of crackers for lunch and then dinner is Roast Chicken with all the trimmings. DD's friend has taken on appearing every Sunday - I don't mind at all as they're very sweet and demolish my dinners but because I meticulously meal plan, does mean my portion is normally lost. Always got less exciting things in the freezer/cupboard but Roast Chicken is one of my weaknesses!!

Big hug, Sunshine. Next week sounds like it might be quite tough but hopefully, the 'urge' from DD is waning slightly if the last time wasn't a serious attempt. Probably of no comfort to you, her just not being home is so worrying, but I hope it's and easier week than you anticipate Flowers

I was gripped by Eurovision last night for the first time in years. I think the right country won as it was a pretty good song but I was blown away by Sam Ryder; the set, the pearly king jumpsuit, that voice!! Was wonderful and made me feel more European than I have in a long while.

Got a day of baking ahead, involving lots of pumpkin (well, substituted by butternut squash as pumpkin is hard to track down!) - such a versatile veg! Hope everyone has a nice, relaxing day (boo to work, Holbein, but day off tomorrow!!)

ginsparkles · 15/05/2022 11:29

Hello all,

@Flowers111 sending love and solidarity. You can do this.

Yesterday ended a little over, DH brought me a glass of wine after work and I was powerless to resist!

Today am working so the plan is
Ham sandwich, banana and apples for snacks
Pasta bake with salad for dinner.

So as long as the lady with the cakes on the stand next to me doesn't give me cake I'll be fine!

Benjispruce4 · 15/05/2022 15:15

Grey work @HouseofHolbein you’re at my target!
@SunshineCake1 i too hope your DD is ok this week. I don’t know her history but is she at uni? Could she stay home until she’s in a better place or does she have in person exams. My Dd is 3rd year.
Great that Ukraine won last night. Only watched the scores and we were uncharacteristically glued. Well done to U.K. too but I’m glad we came second, not first.
B- half a small avocado smashed on seedy toast with a splash of Tabasco. Espresso
L- half a small baked sweet potato with feta and salad, apple.
D - not sure yet but will be alcohol free!
Back to painting garden chairs in between showers ☔️.

Benjispruce4 · 15/05/2022 15:21

Great not grey!!! 🙄

SingaporeSlinky · 15/05/2022 15:22

@Graphista I know what you mean about eating like a thin person. I used to read interviews with celebs when they were asked what they typically eat in a day, and sort of roll my eyes when they listed things like greek yoghurt and berries for breakfast, and then salmon and steamed veg for dinner. Now I’ve turned into one of those people. It used to sound so alien to me, I’d almost think well, no wonder they’re skinny, as if it was unattainable for me. But now that I’m careful what I eat, I’ve naturally gravitated towards those sorts of foods.

Forgot to weigh in this week, but 9st 2 3/4 this morning, and have been hovering around that for the last few weeks. I’ve eaten too much chocolate all week, I’m partly blaming TOTM, but partly wondering if I’m subconsciously testing the waters to see how much I can get away with before the weight starts to creep up again. Really going to try this week to get back to MFP logging, as I would like to lose a few more lbs.

Hope everyone’s having a nice weekend.

Puffalicious · 15/05/2022 16:37

Hi all,

I'm a smiley Puff today: weigh in and I've lost 3lbs! I was so down last week, I really need to remember that my body takes longer and longer to show losses. So, that's 4lb in 3 weeks, which I'm chuffed with.

I'm also into the next stone bracket, and that always feels good.

SW (this time) 12: 3
CW 11:13
TW 10:12

Had a bowl of Cheerios in celebratio 🤣

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 15/05/2022 16:44

Hi all, I definitely don't eat like a thin person either 😳

Scales have gone down by a kilo in the first week, back up half a kilo last week and back down again to the same kg off so who knows. Will keep doing my best.

Ate outside my window yesterday and Friday but anyone with teens will know the feeling and I don't drink 😉

AnyoneElseFeelDone · 15/05/2022 16:45

Good luck for the week ahead!

milkfromthesleepycow · 15/05/2022 17:11

@Puffalicious excellent! Glad it made you smile

SunshineCake · 15/05/2022 17:52

Thank you @SanFranBear . I kept getting a jolt when I remember DD is going. I have made plans to see a friend and I am so excited about that that it has taken over everything. Then I remember Dd and I almost feel numb. Like an acceptance that I can't do anything about anything she will or won't do. I am taking her to the station as last time I took her it was horrible. It isn't going to be great tomorrow but at least this time we know where she is going and when she is due back.

I had my run @TheRealHousewife and felt it was really easy. I didn't have the I can't do this at the 0.75km point that I often have. I did almost 6.5km.

She was at uni @Benjispruce4 but had to leave. She wants to go back in September but I can't see them saying yes tbh.

Hurray @Puffalicious , that is great news.

I have a headache. My school friend asked me if I remembered something from 1991 so I dug out my diaries and started reading on from when I was 16. Just makes me sad and now I feel like crying. Had to stop reading. Somehow I can't seem to accept I can't go back in time Sad.
