My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

Hi, I will join you. I would like to lose about a stone before my first holiday in three years in August!

I used to be really good at cooking healthy meals but since the lockdowns I just can’t be bothered, I eat very little fruit and veg, too much sugar and generally feel a bit crap from it. I do take my dog out for lots of exercise so I think that’s the only thing that’s stopped me piling weight on!

I started yesterday so good to see this thread to keep me on track

I just plan to eat sensibly, lots more fruit and veg, less sugary beige crap. I always feel more inspired when the sun is out too Smile

Are you following any particular diet @poorpaws ?

endlesswashing · 19/04/2022 11:49

Can I join too?

Also want to loose some weight before my holiday in August. I've got into a pattern of eating badly, not exercising so eat badly.....

No special diet for me but need to add more veg, water, reduce junk and sugary snacks.

Did a beginners online exercise class this morning.

ShitHair · 19/04/2022 12:07

Yes please! I'll be back later :)

RuthW · 19/04/2022 12:08

Can I join please?

Notonthestairs · 19/04/2022 12:15

My diet hasn't failed - because I didn't get started!
I have an all day hospital appointment tomorrow for DC2. It's going to be stressful so I will join you properly on Thursday.
Similar amount to lose with a short term aim (July) for 1 stone and a longer term one (November). Haven't decided on method as yet so will be interested to read how other people have decided to tackle it.

Amdone123 · 19/04/2022 12:23

I'll join. It's so difficult isn't it, when life gets in the way !
I do quite well overall, but throw Easter ( or even weekend) into the mix, and I'm off track. The positive is that at least I lose weight in the first instance ( even though it's back on, I'm not getting heavier, if that makes sense )
I take one day at a time. Busy weekend obviously, but up this morning, planned meals, been to zumba, etc.
I'm away in 10 days and whilst I'm not looking to lose anything drastic, I'd like to get back in the driving seat !!

TurtlesAndTropicalFish · 19/04/2022 12:29

Can I join please? I’m crash dieting till next Monday for a kick start! I’ve been stagnant with weight loss for months

MangoKugel · 19/04/2022 12:36

Yes please!

I gained a lot of lockdown weight. Used to be very active, but I'm embarrassed to exercise now because of my size so I stay home and snack instead. Vicious cycle.

I'm going to lay off the carbs and alcohol. Have booked spin class for tonight (it's dark so no one can see me wobble Grin)

Hope both you and your dog are feeling better now poorpaws?

DisappearingHelen · 19/04/2022 12:39

I’m in. I’m a mess.

Going to start really slow. Just no bedtime snacking and laying off refined sugar. Even that’s going to be really hard for me right now so if I manage it, it should be awesome.

Good luck to others!!

poorpaws · 19/04/2022 15:26

Thank you all for joining me, I’m feeling so much stronger with everyone onboard.

@SpreadHummusNotHate. I haven’t got a specific plan but definitely will cut down dramatically on sugar because that is my biggest weakness. I’m not much of a drinker so alcohol won’t be a problem. I aim to move more (dog walking and a very old Rosemary Conley cd) and I am trying to get my home back in some sort of order because when I was ill it really suffered (well on the way with that one).

I hope you all stay with me (I know so many of these threads where people post once and then disappear). We can set up mini goals if you have a lot to lose and have extra-push weeks when we want to get on with it and the positivity is high. Definitely no shaming on here but a ton of encouragement for those trying hard.

I’m going to weigh tomorrow before I eat but then will probably revert to every Monday morning.

Good luck everyone, let’s gain some willpower this week, we’ll be so happy if we lose no matter how little.

Just checking in @poorpaws

Will update more later at the end of kids' dinner, bath, bedtime... basically I will be exhausted but will still try to say hello 😂

Dutchlady · 19/04/2022 15:38

Oh I would love to join you! Had a great start jan-march, but Covid got me and never got back to it. Actually scared to get on the scales now. Off to Italy late august and would love to loose 10 kg before.

VioletLemon · 19/04/2022 15:40

Brilliant, yes! I'd love to join too. Got 3 stone to lose, some related to medication weight gain the rest Lockdown bad habit being ingrained. Now I'm so self conscious I avoid going anywhere other than work. I'm sick of myb attitude tbh so last 2 weeks cut down massively on carbs, sugar and WAS cutting down on alcohol, last few days saw the wine flowing as I enter the end of time off on holiday.

Blood tests going on as some menopause related changes and I'm now worrying I may have diabetes. I feel at least it's something I can improve with diet and some lifestyle changes. I actually feel much better already! Unfortunately at Xmas when my my DP gave me the smartwatch (I had asked for) he also gave me a set of digital scales!! He said they came with the watch and was quite sheepish about giving them to me. I was fuming but hid it well and put the scales away. Now I can't find them... I need to be weighing regularly I think. Good luck everyone.

NewbieDivergent · 19/04/2022 15:42

I would love to join, worst procrastrinator in Wales I believe,I have a lot to lose, doing well with starting exercise but the diet is horrendous.

Wishihadanalgorithm · 19/04/2022 15:49

Add me to the list please. Was going great on Fast800 when I caught Covid and then my stone loss was suddenly found again!

I’ve used Easter as a chance to eat stupidly so need to get back on the wagon.

Also in the middle of peri-menopause so I feel like I have to eat hardly anything to shift the weight.

I need some sort of exercise to do as well. Aghghghgh!!!!!

poorpaws · 19/04/2022 17:47

Hi @ClaraTheImpossibleGirl So glad you're here.
For all others Clara was on my original thread and we go back quite a way (moaning about our DPs and loving dogs and occasionally discussing weight loss).

Thank you to all who joined since my last message. I really hope you all stay and post regularly, it’s so disappointing when people leave without a message.

I’m off shopping tonight, healthy fruit and veg and no sugary snacks!
Is everyone going to weigh tomorrow and give stats (you don’t have to obviously but I’m going to face my scales (and cry) as I want to know my re-start weight, which will probably be pretty bleak (well it won’t be pretty that’s for sure),

Pmk as I'm on holiday, back Saturday and need this type of thread! Good luck all

KokusnussFlips · 19/04/2022 17:52

I'll join. DS is 3 and I still need to lose the baby weight plus the extra that piled on during covid. I have days or even weeks of eating healthy and making the right choices then I fall off the waggon and I'm back to square one.
Really struggling with exercise at the minute too. When I was working from home I would squeeze a 30 minute workout in to my work day but now we're back in the office 4 days a week Im struggling to fine the time to exercise.

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 19/04/2022 17:55

I'd love to join. I'm having surgery on my ankle a week after next so I'll be stuck in bed for the first fortnight and then on crutches for at least another 4/6 weeks.

Means for at least a fortnight I can only eat what people bring up to me, I'm thinking of looking at SW as there's loads of online context to keep me going, it's easy enough DH should be able to cook with me in mind and there's plenty I can snack on without making things worse

Calorie counting always ends in tears

2020in2020 · 19/04/2022 17:55

Please can I join! I lost a stone and a half on the Cambridge diet but just couldn’t stick to it, and have put about 10lb back on and I want to lose around 2 and a half stone in total. I joined Slimming World last week, and what a stupid week to choose as it was the long weekend and we were child free, so had a day out at a local brewery and bbq’s, Sunday lunches with family, etc etc. I’m dragging my sorry arse to group tonight fully prepared for the humiliation of gaining the first week and determined to start properly this week!

AnyCakeButBattenburg · 19/04/2022 17:55

Can I join please? I've been obese for several years now. I'm 63, has Covid (in a coma on a ventilator 2wk) then a stroke, last July. Since then, I've gained another stone and can't walk far or very quickly. Sit here comfort eating, getting fatter. Must lose some weight, no matter how much (about 6st overweight)

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 19/04/2022 17:56

I'm 5' 7 and 13st 4, would love to get down to 10st 7 but first target is 12 stone

MercuryRising · 19/04/2022 18:01

Please can I join you? I need some friendly encouragement and mutual cheerleading. I would like to lose 2.5 stone. I'm thinking of using a slimming world type eating plan... lots of homeworking and veg

KokusnussFlips · 19/04/2022 18:05

Joined this thread and then a few minutes later ate 4 squares of chocolate. Not off to a good start.

My reasoning is that those were the last 4 squares and now temptation is out of the way so I can start the diet off well tomorrow.... I'll be back tomorrow to let you all know what reason I find for postponing the diet one more day.

Amdone123 · 19/04/2022 20:19

@2020in2020, how did you do ? I don't think it was a bad time to start - you started so that's good ( hope that makes sense - I'm tired ! ).
To the pp who ate the chocolate, that's OK ! 4 pieces is fine ( it's when we're eating 4 bars, we need to worry ).
I've had a great day, a good start. I walked, zumba - ed, I've eaten properly and I'm feeling positive.
Seems like a lot of people like sw. I count calories, try to not have more than 1500. Today, I've had 1500 but my exercise has burnt a fair few 😇
