My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

@Theredjellybean the Burn360 reset sounds interesting. I'll have a look at it thanks.

Glad to see you back @poorpaws. What a horrible thing to happen to your leg. My friend scalded her entire chest when hugging a hot water bottle to squeeze the air out of it. She applied aloe vera and hoped for the best, but went to her GP when it wasn't getting any better. He sent her straight to the burns unit for treatment. Hope you're okFlowers

Bigbus · 28/06/2022 06:11

We have booked a holiday in Paris for the late summer. Please can this be the incentive I need to make some weight! I would love to lose a stone by then.

Mumstheword2022 · 28/06/2022 06:43

12 st 1 this morning

😬

3 up over night!

Bigbus · 28/06/2022 07:33

@Mumstheword2022 i weighed myself this morning and my covid eating has gained me 3 pounds too! Onwards and downwards…

poorpaws · 28/06/2022 07:58

Good morning everyone, I'm here for the daily briefing (I sound like Boris 🥴)

@CanadianJohn I'm always mentioning food, sorry. I will try to refrain but most of the time it's all I think about.

We are nearing the end of our June challenge and it looks as if some of us haven't made it 😬. I think I'm going to do a July challenge with the same goal (which I definitely missed in June). If anybody would like to join me for a July challenge you are very welcome but I appreciate that two challenges end to end is a bit much. So my goal is 10st 10lbs by the end of July and barring illness/scalding/upset I intend to do this (surely I won't fail in two challenges 🙈).

Have a good Tuesday everyone.

@Bigbus and @Mumstheword2022 I hope this 3 lb gain isn't catching, I'd be the first to catch it if it was 🤣

poorpaws · 28/06/2022 08:18

I've lost the plot! Sorry everyone my July goal is 10st 12lbs as was my June goal, where 10st 10lbs came from I have no idea (wishful thinking).

Haha, me too!!! 2 lots of covid in 3 months! Keep that 3lb away from me please 🙏.

I'll have to think of what I want my July challenge to be. Got a holiday in the middle, just Center Parcs, but all that exercise builds a titanic appetite
(for junk).

In honour of "the 3lb" I might go for that... it would take me under 100kg. 15st10lb. I like the big round numbers, something significant to aim for. ... Sounds like a plan.

Theredjellybean · 28/06/2022 10:21

I'm relaunching June challenge to July too...
70kg by end of July
I have a week all inclusive in Turkey in the second week... Mmm..... But I will do my best.
Today 72.7
We can do this... I believe in us all... I'm. Now sounding a bit like an American motivational speaker 🤣

Theredjellybean · 28/06/2022 10:25

@poorpaws ...burn sounds ouchy.
I'd advise not baking... I find even when I'm not fussed about the final product there is a fair bit of spatula licking etc.
Just don't put yourself in that position 😏 is my strategy.

BeyondMyWits · 28/06/2022 12:04

How are you @poorpaws ? Sounds very painful.

Mumstheword2022 · 28/06/2022 15:20

Oh no!!!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 28/06/2022 23:28

Sorry to hear you have Covid too @BeyondMyWits , hope you're feeling better soon!

@ClinkeyMonkey , my DM definitely needs extra help at home, but just won't admit it - she thinks she's doing ok with the upkeep of her house & garden - well, she isn't Confused honestly bits of the house are utterly filthy, I don't want to eat round there as she can't/ doesn't manage to clean floors, chairs etc. We've offered to pay for carers and/ or cleaners but she won't hear of it...

My DM also has very poor mobility @CanadianJohn and her GP suggested swimming, would that be an option for you? She won't even consider it or look into similar options, which is a real shame!

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 28/06/2022 23:40

@Bigbus, I think I did a similar walking challenge last year - have to say I really upped my steps when DTS1 had a fitness tracker and challenged me to beat him, he's never still so that was exhausting Grin I might have to get him another! DP did think about SW but it doesn't accommodate his habit of eating half a loaf at once (with plenty of butter, of course) so he said it "doesn't work" Hmm

DP and the DC would love a dog @Theredjellybean - in some ways I'd quite like one but I know who'd end up walking it all the time and picking up its poo! I'll definitely look into family activities that can be optional for DP; it's easier now the DTs are a bit older (6, almost 7) as when they were little it was pretty much impossible to manage them both on my own, especially as DTS1 has ASD.

We (me and the DC of course, not DP!) did parkrun for a while @triplecheeese but it clashes with their football group now, once that finishes for the season I might try again. DP came along, sat in the nearby cafe and had a massive breakfast whilst we ran... I hope your DH is supportive when you want/ need some 'me time'? One of the reasons I'm so resentful of my DP is that he was so bloody unhelpful when the DC were small, yet always felt entitled to go out in the evenings/ weekends/ on holidays whenever he liked...

ClaraTheImpossibleGirl · 28/06/2022 23:45

Oh @poorpaws , you poor thing, that accident sounds very upsetting! I hope you're healing well now? I worked in a burns unit for a while and honestly they can work miracles nowadays, so if you need help, please go to your GP Flowers

I'm very jealous hearing about all these holidays, we have nothing planned! (Which reminds me - I must sort out holiday clubs for the DC's far too long summer hols!!) Put me down for the July challenge though poorpaws, I must shift some weight somehow Confused

poorpaws · 29/06/2022 08:09

Morning everyone I hope you are all doing well.

I had such a good day yesterday until the evening (yet again). I really must sort my evenings out. I think I do too much in the day and then get overtired in the evenings and just sit down and eat. It's only a few hours because I tend to go to bed early but goodness I can eat a lot in those few hours. It works best if I take the dogs out in the evening but last night it was pouring with rain; it's like late October here. (They had a 2 hour walk in the morning so they are well walked and two out of three hate rain). I've got to sort myself out!

I hope everyone is doing well and ready for the July challenge. It would be lovely if we could all meet our challenges.

Have a good day everyone.

@ClaraTheImpossibleGirl the side of my foot is healing nicely. I was lucky really because I had quite a full skirt on with elasticated waist. It soaked up some of the boiling water and I took it off quickly. The side of my foot was the worst but it only caught the very edge, I was so lucky. It's been a rotten year so far but I'm an eternal optimist and I keep thinking the worst is over and things will all be good.

I'm sorry your DP is still being difficult but I have no words of wisdom, I just hope he sees the light and changes (unlikely I know).

Did anyone reach their June challenge target? I don't think I even lost a pound. I'll put that negative result behind me and start again in July.

So July, what is your target for the month? Hopefully we can all do better in that month. As I said before my target is 10 st 12 lbs but just to get under 11 st would be lovely. I know just before Christmas I was 10 st 10 lbs so this year has gone very badly so far.

As I've said many times evenings are my downfall so last night I decided to do something about it. I've been feeling very fed up with the fact that DP and I never do anything and it's no good trying to get him to do anything because he just won't.

To stop me eating all night I decided to get in the car and go to M&S, all good until I started to get hungry and went into the cafe. I then tried on three tops and one skirt all of which looked hideous and wished I had tried them on before I went to the café because then I would've made better food choices. I can't tell you what I had because I promised @CanadianJohn I'd stop mentioning cake and sandwiches 😁. I must try a different plan of action for tonight.

Have a good Thursday everyone.

I’ve managed to get rid of 2 of the 3 already so that’s good I’ve signed up to MyFitnessPal and it’s really easy to use. For the end of July I’d like to be 13st7lbs which would be a loss of 6lbs please! Thank you.

Readytostartagain · 30/06/2022 09:20

I’m away in holiday at the moment so won’t be able to weigh in until 3rd. My target for July is to lose whatever I’ve put on on holiday plus 2lbs. Given I’ve been eating a lot that may be ambitious 😳 but I have a wedding at the end of July to go to as my target.

BeyondMyWits · 30/06/2022 09:21

Yes I made my June target... FIFTEEN stone 13. First time 15 stone something in years.

July target, moving to kg... there is BIG round number on the horizon... 100kg.( 220lb. 15 stone 10lb.)
So a 3lb loss. Achievable I think, even with a Center Parcs trip in the middle.

I am loving the motivation that comes from checking in regularly on this thread... up... down... stay the same... no judgement just support.

Good luck on the targets everyone!

ClinkeyMonkey · 30/06/2022 09:51

June target not met here sadly. I'm no heavier though. Yay! My children get off today for their summer holidays (holidays are 8-9 weeks here😬) so any sense of structure will be lost for the next two months, especially as we will be having building work done. At least we will be forced to get out every day rather than sit in the rubble! So plenty of exercise, but possibly a bit of reliance on convenience foods. I'm not sure if a July goal will be feasible for me, but I will try to eat healthily in general.

Well done @BeyondMyWits. That is fantastic🎖

And well done also to @Bigbus for getting back on track and losing some of the (perfectly understandable) Covid weight gain!

endlesswashing · 30/06/2022 18:48

Glad you're healing well @poorpaws
Fantastic @BeyondMyWits
I'm going to weigh in tomorrow. I've been on track for about a week now and do feel better for it.
I'm definitely up for a July challenge! I'll set it tomorrow after seeing what the scales say.

Theredjellybean · 30/06/2022 23:11

@BeyondMyWits
You get the June award.... Well done.
I'm. Doing OK this week but must focus on weights and physio... 😢
