My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

Hope everyone has had a good day.
Ive finished the day on 1580 calories (my fitness pal has suggested 1600 for me to lose 1lb weekly) and managed 55 minutes of exercise (swimming with the kids).
As I started a few weeks ago I will weigh in tomorrow as usual. Fingers crossed.

Bigbus · 21/04/2022 20:44

Queeniewag · 21/04/2022 09:06

Exactly same. I lose 2/3 pounds during week then put back on every weekend. So depressing. I must get some control at weekends!

@Queeniewag to make matters worse I only work Mon-Wed so sometimes the weekend starts on Wednesday evening.

Today I have logged everything and it’s a real eye-opener. I thought I’d had a good day and might have eaten more but I’ve certainly had enough! It really helps me to write everything down.

poorpaws · 21/04/2022 21:03

Well Day 2 went really badly! I hadn't told my family I was re-starting the diet so as I sat in the garden they turned up with Dominoes pizzas, chicken strippers, wedges, garlic fries etc. It was totally my fault and I just couldn't refuse. It also ended up in an impromptu sleep-over for the kids so there has been sweets, chocolate and crisps this evening. It was a great day though sitting chilling with the family I don't see often enough due to work commitments.

So tomorrow is another day although the diet might just start properly on Monday (as most diets do). I did say I was going to take this weight loss easy but reeeally Day 2 fail 🙈

I am not giving up, as they say sometimes life gets in the way.

I hope you have all had a good day. Oh and rescue dog did very well on her walk, still nervously looking around constantly but a little bit calmer so her day 2 was better than my day 2 Confused

@poorpaws it's impossible and rude to not eat food that's brought to you, not your fault! 😉

I've not had a terrible day despite being on holiday and I made healthier choices than usual (burger with salad not chips, antipasti not pizza) but I have had an aperol spritz, a half pint of lager and half a bottle of prosecco. Empty calories but so lovely!

Bigbus · 21/04/2022 21:45

@poorpaws it is really hard when people bring you stuff. The main thing I want to achieve is a gentle weight loss without thinking I’m missing out all the time - life is too short!

DrRamsesEmerson · 21/04/2022 21:59

I have terrible dog envy reading this thread! I can’t have one, my working hours are much too long.

I’m doing OK, three days of sticking to 1200 calories plus extra when I work out. Did a Jillian Michaels DVD today which bought me enough extra calories to have a glass of wine to celebrate being shortlisted for a job I really want. But the weekends are always the challenge…

H1Drangea · 21/04/2022 22:15

Started off really well , we have a holiday cottage , and I needed to do changeover , went to chat to departing guests and they gave me a thankyou card and a box of biscuits …
anyway , had a good old workout lugging the Henry around , cleaning everything and all the washing ( and got all dry on the line ) and changing beds
food not too bad , had no breakfast , I just like coffee in the morning
tuna Mayo ( made my own Mayo today , it’s a bit runny but tastes good ) with a massive salad for lunch
5 biscuits 😱
Chicken Kiev for dinner , not perfect , but still no wine and no picking at choclor icecream in the evening ,
1400 calories or so , according to MFP

Eviebeans · 22/04/2022 05:17

I'm shocked at how much effort it seems to take to shift even a pound yet how easily it goes back on. Haven't really done calorie counting before but think I need to give it a go.

avalonn · 22/04/2022 07:15

Morning all, well I survived day one yesterday. I woke up this morning and thought I felt sick but was in fact just hungry.

Feeling hungry is a whole new thing for me, I'm usually stuffed full of chocolate.

Enjoy your day all.

extrapineappleonmypizza · 22/04/2022 09:23

Morning everyone!
I’m at home today and I’ve got a big admin job to do that I’ve been putting off for ages. I need to get it done and not snack mindlessly while I do it.
I’m also a bit apprehensive about the weekend ahead and whether I’ll be able to stay on track.
Day 7 for me but still haven’t weighed.
Have a great day!

endlesswashing · 22/04/2022 09:23

Morning

It was going so well until I ate lots of some milk tray last night but didn't have wine or crisps so not a total sabotage.

I've done online classes for the last 3 days but am having a rest today. The plan is to stay on track today. There will be too much food and drink tomorrow as I'm away for a friend's birthday.

Hope every had a good day.

Well I managed a healthy breakfast Wednesday, downhill all the way since.Out with kids today and McDonalds will be unavoidable.

Matchingcollarandcuffs · 22/04/2022 09:53

I need to eat when I take my meds first thing (or 6am) but don't normally eat breakfast til now. Any ideas for low calorie/syn starchy somethings I can eat early?

Today I've had half a slice of toast and just had a bowl of blueberry wheats, whimsy not perfect it's the most on plan start I've had in months!

oliviastwisted · 22/04/2022 09:53

Hi all, I’d love to join here I am going to try to take a really pragmatic view and lose about 13kg very slowly. I’d like to have most of it off by this time next year. I weighed in yesterday at 88kg and even after losing the 13kg I would be still overweight but I know I would look and feel much better. I have set my calorie goal to 1800 to start off in my fitness pal. I want to make some significant changes to every aspect of my health in the coming year. I’d love to use this thread as accountability.

DrRamsesEmerson · 22/04/2022 10:34

I'm going to weigh myself on Saturday mornings from now on. Good start to today, coffee and a workout DVD!

H1Drangea · 22/04/2022 11:39

Hi @oliviastwisted slow but steady is a good way to lose weight , I’m not up to speed on kg , I stick to stones and pounds but realistically losing one pound a week Is losing 4 stone in a year ( so 1/2 lb a week = 2 stone which is about 13 kg ? ) so very doable
@avalonn water is what I always need in the morning before food , feel a bit sick until I’ve glugged a glass full down , I think it’s because I can’t breathe through my nose when I’m asleep , so sleep with my mouth open ( and don’t snore at all , oh no )
And , yes , I was bloody starving Marvin this morning , I don’t normally eat breakfast but had a hot cross bun this morning and feel much better

So , onward , beany chorizo casserole tonight , probably bowl of salad for lunch

FuckingHateRats · 22/04/2022 12:49

Went to buy trousers today, tried on about fifty pairs and found nothing that looked good. Feel really shit/spurred on at the same time.

Had a coffee so far, about to make a mango smoothie with oats and flaxseeds for lunch. We have a Hello Fresh box arriving today so it'll be something from that for dinner.

Arranged a 17k step walk with a colleague this evening, so that'll stop be snacking and burn some cals!

applesandpears33 · 22/04/2022 13:38

Could I join in? I have been slowly gaining weight since having DC1 and could now do with losing 5 stones, although to be honest I'd be happy with just one as I could then access a lot more of my wardrobe. Like some of the others on this thread I wear only a few items from my wardrobe because the rest of it doesn't fit. I really need to lose some weight as I have committed to doing something at the end of next month and can't really do it unless I am a few pounds lighter.

My plan is to try and lose weight by having lots of sleep and making better food choices. I've read some other people on this thread saying that they find it harder to eat well when tired and I can agree with that - all I do is crave carbs.

Bigbus · 22/04/2022 14:18

I hope everyone’s day is going ok. I’m hungry! I’ve had breakfast and lunch. Im
hoping after a few days I’ll get used to it (and seeing results will help me to stick to it). This thread helps too!

AnyCakeButBattenburg · 22/04/2022 14:28

Well, I started cutting down the other day (this is day 3) and counted my calories. I have to say that when it gets to the evening, I sit here wondering what to eat! Instead of sweet stuff, I've been have a bowl of salad (boring) as a snack.

Eviebeans · 22/04/2022 14:39

I thought I would start gently by cutting out all the junk food and sticking to three meals and eating more fruit and veg. I hadn't realised how much I had been eating in terms of calories in meals. I'm finding it harder than expected but definitely going to keep at it.

Notonthestairs · 22/04/2022 19:26

I haven't quite fallen off the wagon but I haven't fully got going yet.
I've cut out all snacks and tried smaller portions of my normal food.
I think I need to record my food but I haven't got the hang of My Fitness Pal - do most people use MFP premium? Will it let me record food beyond kilojoules?

KokusnussFlips · 22/04/2022 19:30

Im struggling already. Ive got in to some bad habits over the last few years and its harder than I expected to break them. I try to have a lot of fruit around for snacks but I feel like I'm never full up off fruit. Im constantly craving bread and biscuits. Hopefully it will pass.

Minimalme · 22/04/2022 20:06

I'm in you'll have me? I lost weight last year but put it back on so I am getting back on it properly this week.

If this helps anyone, I have discovered KFC do a chicken fillet with salad which is 300 kcal and very tasty.

I am limited with exercise because I have a bad hip which needs sorting.

I prefer to eat food which isn't traditionally healthy but that I enjoy. For example, a packet of noodles for lunch followed by raspberries with sugar and creme fraiche.

I like French cheese and Ryvita and palma ham and melon.

And jelly beans and sherbert fountains.

Needless to say it will not be a quick or dramatic weight loss from me Grin
