My story so far:
I started a thread “Lockdown stones to lose” in early June last year. I had nearly 3 stones to lose and was very determined. At times I did very well and at one point had lost over 1.5 stones.

Loads of people joined and then left and I think only four of us remained at the end. I kept plodding on. Just after Christmas I became ill for seven weeks (Covid related). I couldn’t do much or go out so my weight ballooned. I still kept plodding on. Then one of my dogs suffered an horrendous attack and whilst nursing her I just about lived on chocolate.

So here I am nearly 11 months later, most likely very nearly back to square one. I keep reminding myself that last time I said I would not give up no matter what! Will you join me tomorrow morning? I would love some company.

Yesterday I managed to avoid sugar but did succumb to massive bedtime ‘snack’. No need for it. Going to keep working at it.
This morning I had a huge brunch but managed to at least I managed to avoid buying any tempting sugary things when grabbing bread and butter this morning. Baby steps for me. Hope you’re all having a good day.

gonelululemoncrazy · 20/04/2022 11:53

Hi @poorpaws

Just checking in.

SW 13st (a little bit better than last time)
GW 11st

All the Easter eggs have now been eaten and I am free of birthdays and other such events till July - so can keep the cake and wine consumption down.

Good luck everyone.

AnyCakeButBattenburg · 20/04/2022 12:30

I walked round the block last night (1/2 mile) and I was knackered! Weighed myself - a disgusting 16st 8!
Zumba Gold this morning, also started counting calories.

TimeToLose8 · 20/04/2022 12:53

I forgot to weigh myself this morning. And I only do it then as I'm at my lightest!

I am in the middle of a never ending restoration of a barn. It was supposed to take 2 years and we are on to year 7!
When we were working full time on it, I could eat and drink whatever I wanted, I was climbing up and down scaffold towers etc.

Now we only work mornings (so the end is further and further away), and I have to watch what I eat and drink. Which is awful as I am still ravenous most of the time.

Never mind. I'm going to start eating mindfully. Just had lunch, smallish sandwich and 2 pieces of fruit

The best thing I have ever done though is giving up snacks. AHH but I just remembered Wednesday is market day and I had to go to the bakers and buy my husband a pain au chocolat, I didn't have the willpower to NOT buy myself something, so got the smallest (tiny tiny) cake. Unfortunately this baker also does the best bread. (We are in France)

I did lose some weight when I stopped eating so much bread, I think I have to do that again.

Eviebeans · 20/04/2022 13:58

The only regular exercise I do is walking to drop off and pick up my grandson from school. Returning to it after the Easter holidays and feeling completely done in really woke me up to how unfit I am.

Notonthestairs · 20/04/2022 14:30

Right I've weighed myself for the first time in a loooooooong time (I actually hid the scales!)

SW - 12.8
First GW 12.
For first GW I am aiming for 10th June at a loss of 1lb a wk. I will think about the next 2 stone Blush after that.

Thanks to Playhousearmy I've remembered that I have the first Dr Chatterhee books to read. And I need to fire up MFP and work out how to log things.

KokusnussFlips · 20/04/2022 17:45

Didnt get off to a bad start today but I fell down on the biscuits. The toddler asked for one and I couldnt resist having one for myself too. But there was no chocolate from the vending machine at work today I had an apple instead which I'm very proud of.

Eviebeans · 20/04/2022 17:52

Today I think I've done okay so far, have eaten omelette for breakfast, tuna sandwich for lunch, chicken stir fry with noodles for dinner. Have had cups of herbal tea and glasses of water throughout the day.
I might have to go to bed at 7 pm though to avoid the evening snacking. Crisps and savoury snacks are my big downfall.

HerbErtlinger · 20/04/2022 17:54

Please can I join? I want to lose 6 stone but I'm struggling to actually get started. Will start in the morning and try to make a go of it

avalonn · 20/04/2022 19:08

Can I join too? I'm starting tomorrow. I went to weigh myself earlier and the batteries had died in the scales. I've sorted it now ready for tomorrow morning's big reveal 😁

At least 3 stone to lose.

poorpaws · 20/04/2022 19:50

Hi all and welcome to everyone who has joined us today.

I’ve had a devil of a job getting on here. I’ve not got a computer or laptop anymore just an old iPad and my phone. My iPad decided it wasn’t going to show the keyboard any more so I can’t type on it. I have to read on my iPad (bigger area to see) and type on my phone which is a hassle because I make more mistakes. Perfect timing for the iPad to give up when I want to contribute to this thread.

Anyway, we’ve got a lot of recruits now and I hope you are all going to stay. Judging from previous experience a lot of you will leave here as quickly as you joined us but I hope not as we might make a big difference together.

I have done ok today with a slow dog walk, little bit of housework and healthy food (although I am ravenous atm and have to eat before I go to bed or I won’t sleep). I think it might be an early night for me to stop me eating too much.

For those of you still to weigh-in this might be the biggest you’ll be in a long time and it’s all down on the scales from here do don’t be afraid, we are all in this together. I know we’ll all have good and bad days/weeks but with support we’ll do it.

Im going to set a mini goal but I can’t decide what it will be (not too low or I’ll definitely fail but enough of a challenge to get me back on track).

Day 1 nearly done, keep on trying and I’ll post again tomorrow.

Day one was mixed- succumbed to a mid afternoon biscuit but did go out for a quick walk after dinner to make sure I completed the rings on my Apple Watch. Good luck yo everyone and holding on to the thought that this is our heaviest and the only way is down.

thefurriesthen · 20/04/2022 20:26

Could I join please? I was absolutely delighted before Christmas as I was around 9st7 (at 5'5) and pleased with how I looked for once - I really got into the swing of things after the birth of my second son. Completed Couch 2 5k and was on the final week of the 10k programme....

Then...Christmas happened and I just went nuts 😂Now here I am almost two stones heavier, and I feel like I have started and restarted the same diet about twenty times. I will weigh in properly tomorrow morning and report back in the evening. Enough is enough!

Calorie counting works best for me, plus running. Not necessarily the exact same calories every day, as I find that sends me a bit loopy. I look at the average for the week, but ideally no higher than 1300 average across the week (if that makes sense

extrapineappleonmypizza · 20/04/2022 20:28

I’ve had a relatively good day - made a chicken salad to take to work and have had similar for tea. I’ve made a salad with some feta and olives to take to work tomorrow.
I had a couple of boiled sweets during a meeting today, rather than a couple of biscuits.
No alcohol is still my focus. As soon as I have a drink, I lose all control of what I eat (not to mention the calories in the alcohol itself).

2020in2020 · 20/04/2022 20:31

I’ve had a good day today, only ate my planned food - blueberry shreddies, fat free yogurt with blueberries and honey for breakfast, feta pasta with red onion and tomatoes for lunch, and spicy pork and rice for dinner, 2 bottles of water. I plan to go for a swim tomorrow morning. Just found out that my usual weekly dance class is being discontinued, so I need to find something to replace it.

weighing in:
SW: 10st 10lbs
GW: 9st

(I’m only 5 ft 1)

Together we can do this!

Thelongdarkteatime · 20/04/2022 20:38

Please can I join? (Have tried to post this all day but finding the new site changes really glitchy on my phone).

I have about 3 stone to lose (have managed before and was a size 8 prior to first pregnancy ) and it’s mainly through pregnancies and never losing baby weight and poor snacking habits.

I started last week using my fitness pal so my stats are prior to weighing in on Friday.

SW 12st 9.5lbs
CW 12st 7.5lbs
GW 9st 7lbs

My first mini goal is for a trip away in August with dh and I would like to have lost a stone by then.

MangoKugel · 20/04/2022 20:39

A fairly good diet day for me today - stuck to 1200. No exercise though, I'm exhausted after a long day (sitting on my backside) at work.

I will try to be brave and weight in tomorrow morning!

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 20/04/2022 20:42

Hi! I will be here too, I have about 5 stone to lose, so need all the encouragement I can get. Good on everybody for showing up here.

FuckingHateRats · 20/04/2022 20:44

I would like to join in, if I may.

I'll weigh tomorrow morning and reply with stats then

H1Drangea · 20/04/2022 20:51

Had a reasonable day , Even with brunch ( and lots of chatting ) in a naice local cafe
not enough veg or fruit ( fruitcake doesn’t count , does it ? )
I knew today would be a challenge , and cake was consumed , but there’s none left in the house now ! No creme eggs or wine though
I managed to find time for a walk as well , just over 12,000 steps including up a hill

Queeniewag · 20/04/2022 20:55

Please can I join. Gained weight with my kids and now more weight during lockdowns and this can't go on. This is it!! I can't have another fat summer I just can't. Started yesterday with My fitness pal and calorie counting and all going well until this evening when I had to make cupcakes for DS school. Several spoons of cake batter later. Sigh. I feel always something conspiring against me!!

Anyway

SW 167.5 pounds

GW 139.5!

Though first target is to get in to the 150s.

Bjarnum · 20/04/2022 21:02

Hi Paws

NursieBernard · 20/04/2022 21:12

Brilliant, I'd love to join. I've been on a low carb diet since the beginning of Feb and have lost 11kg. I was doing it with a couple of friends from work but they have stopped now so it will be good to be accountable somewhere.

I would like to lose another 9kg by July, although I will be having a 'week off' at the end of May as I am going on holiday.

AntiHop · 20/04/2022 22:13

Can I join?

I have a 1 year old so thanks to pregnancy and lockdown I've put on quite a lot of weight. I'm not going to weigh myself as I find it demotivating. What I want is to be able to wear my pre pandemic size 14/16 clothes. I'm wearing 18/20 at the moment.

Also I've got an hba1c test in June, and I'm scared I'll be diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. My insulin must be all over the place due to baby waking. So I will be doing low carb and intermittent fasting, but not every day.

I've done an intermittent fasting (stopped eating at 4pm) and low carb day today. Plan to do that tomorrow. Yesterday I ate some Easter egg :(

BeautifulWar · 20/04/2022 22:23

Ooh me please! I've allowed stress and a hectic life to get on top of me. I need to get organised and sort myself out! 1stone (preferably 1 and a half) to lose and I want to get my yoga flexibility and tone back. I do a lot of walking but have been battling an old running injury.
