But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

Well I plumped for a veggie ‘bacon’ roll for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. I suspect it won’t keep me as full as my protein shake but I will see and I still have 2 snacks left if needed so should be fine.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 13/04/2022 16:56

What roll are you using @EssexLioness? I'm planning my packed lunches for work next week and I'm hoping a roll every day will be ok?

Moanranger · 13/04/2022 17:09

Not LP, but I am a fan of Seriously Low Carb bread & rolls. A roll is 85 cals & 3G carbs & they taste fine. An on line store

EssexLioness · 13/04/2022 17:11

I used a whole grain roll I bought from our local bakery. Figured it was better than usual supermarket rolls as no added extras.

HardRockOwl · 13/04/2022 17:16

@Sutra ha! Well sprouts aren't on the menu again until Christmas! Sounds like you've been busy, hope you get a bit of a rest soon.

@notacooldad so glad to hear you're moving into another week positively. Keeping everything crossed for you for a good result this week

@EssexLioness wow, that sounds incredible that you're seeing some good body changes. Bacon roll sounds delicious! One of my favourites!

@Moanranger it's good to have a whole range of options to dip in and out of, food wise. Lots of things fit with this way of eating for sure.

Had a relatively good food day today I think ..

Bircher with raspberries

4 small oat cakes with cashew nut butter with sliced strawberries

Low carb wrap with 3 rashers of Plant Kitchen bacon, salad + hummus

Watermelon + portion of nuts

Not sure about dinner right now, thoughts turning to that now! I suppose a feta + watermelon salad as the watermelon needs eating up today ideally

Thanks @HardRockOwl, I am really pleased with my progress then I step in the scales and get annoyed 😆 Time to start focusing on other things that my weight I think. I am mostly doing all the right things so surely one day it will work 🤞I haven’t had a bacon roll for months but I think it was you that posted the other day and I really fancied one after reading that.

I have tofu stir fry but not fancying it now tbh. But it’s all prepped and I still have a snack left so think I will have a yoghurt afterwards as dessert 😊

EssexLioness · 13/04/2022 18:03

@HardRockOwl I bet ur bacon wrap is nice. Sounds a bit like a fancy blt

Moanranger · 13/04/2022 19:39

My Lean for Life book arrived today, cost a fiver. A useful read: LP says weigh fortnightly (Lioness take note). On the other hand Beck says weigh daily. Maybe split the difference & weigh weekly. Meals now planned for tomorrow, but we have completely run out of yoghurt, I am going to have to buy a vat!

indiesearcher · 13/04/2022 19:50

Hi everyone,

Trying to keep in check in between holidays - we've started with family the last 4 nights and I've been out of the circle. I'm feeling really annoyed about it 😕

Been good today;

Breakfast: oat bran pancakes
Snack: protein bites
Lunch: broccoli and bean soup and slice of wholemeal
Snack: oatcakes and cashew butter

Dinner is still to come, DH is doing steak and the raw slaw. Looks good.

How is everyone else keeping? Any losses to report? My face looks thinner for sure but I don't want to get on the scales yet!

EssexLioness · 13/04/2022 20:07

@Moanranger good point, I had forgotten that. Thing is, as much as I hate the scales at times, I have a bit of an unhealthy addiction to them. I used to weight several times a day, then gradually weened myself off to once a week, maybe twice a week if I’m anxious/ trying something different. I need to persevere with it though as I am aware that placing so much importance on the scales themselves is unhealthy.

HardRockOwl · 13/04/2022 20:17

@indiesearcher sounds like you're doing brilliantly - slimmer face is deffo a non scale victory! Watch those protein bites though - Louise 'doesn't approve' as a rule - unless you made them yourself to one of her recipes? But god, better than a Twirl isn't it? (Quite fancy one of those!)

I had a sneaky weigh in this morning as this is my official two weeks on plan - I'm doing Monday morning for ease though. I'm down 11 lbs so far

Hi everyone, I am a daily weigher. I know that many advise against it but I think it keeps me in check.
indiesearcher a thinner looking face sounds as if things are going in the right direction.

DoubleChinWoes2 · 13/04/2022 20:30

I've just bought one of the books from WOB for £3.50. Your stories have got me wanting to join - I've slowly put back on the stone I lost in lockdown and the new wardrobe I bought to celebrate is tight 😒

My husband does all the cooking usually and I have two kids; is this going to be realistic for me? Any top tips for getting this right? I was to lose a stone by July ideally! I'm currently 11st 9 and 5ft 5 so back in the overweight bracket 😖

HardRockOwl · 13/04/2022 20:30

@Topazpearlagain I'm a daily weighed too. I know it's not healthy and I hope to break the habit of a lifetime one day! I also know that weight loss isn't linear so there will be fluctuations and stalls - doesn't stop me hopping on though

I only take proper note of the Monday weigh in though

HardRockOwl · 13/04/2022 20:41

@DoubleChinWoes2 welcome.

Yes it's totally doable for you - the meals can be adapted to families, you'd just add a carb side to theirs, like potato or rice or pasta etc etc.

It's also everyday food really, once you really look at the recipes. Breakfast is lots of porridge / birchers/ eggs / smoothies - all sorts. Lunches are lots of various salads / meats / cheeses like feta and halloumi and snacks are fruit, nuts , oat cakes , nut butters , lots of things

I've lost 11 lbs in 2 weeks and I appreciate this is easier for me as one of my children has moved out (she's an adult, I've not booted her out 😅) and the other is 15 and is always head down in a pot noodle! I cook for him and my husband and generally do my own thing , thus making it much simpler

However my top tips would be ...

  1. For the first week or so, pick things out the book to eat. And just choose a few - don't try and pack in 21 different things.
  1. Stick to portion sizes
  1. Try not to go off piste with snacks / meals that aren't on plan. Don't eat bananas every single day.

Good luck!

EssexLioness · 13/04/2022 20:48

@HardRockOwl wow, 11lbs is absolutely amazing!
Oops, I’ve been eating a banana every day for breakfast. There is only me and DH and I’m the only one who eats them. Got 2 left so maybe I will just eat those up then stop. Not sure what to have instead though as I don’t like porridge really and can’t stand Bircher. Don’t eat eggs or fruit smoothies so a bit stuck. I could have yoghurt but I usually have that for my afternoon snack 🤔

HardRockOwl · 13/04/2022 23:14

@EssexLioness have you got all the books? If not, happy to share some of the breakfast recipes with you

@HardRockOwl 11lbs in 2 weeks is just incredible! Well done!

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 14/04/2022 07:11

I've read this thread with much interest! I have 5+ stone to lose. You've all done really well being able to stick to it and some great losses! I am on HRT and

I have done SW before and lost 3st, but that's back on and more. I joined Team RH but that was awful. Fast800 made me feel ill. Then when something doesn't work I just eat all the food because "what's the point?!"

I need something sustainable and this sounds like it might be! Though I do like being able to have the odd Kit Kat (or 5)!

I'm going to order a book and have a read.

Can anyone tell me which app it is please? There are two when I search. I'm thinking the academy might be for people who pay for the course?

Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..
LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 14/04/2022 07:28

Also, are these the same book or different? Thanks!

EssexLioness · 14/04/2022 08:04

@HardRockOwl thank you. No, I only have the lean for life book.

EssexLioness · 14/04/2022 08:06

@LyraSilvertongueBelacqua the app is called lean for life

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 14/04/2022 08:12

Thanks @EssexLioness . When I search "lean for life" in the App Store those are what come up.

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 14/04/2022 08:15

Though after some Googling, it's called Louise Parker: Lean for life, but is now Parker practice (I think anyway!)
