Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..

But I've decided to give it a go

The food is the sort of stuff I like to eat although I'll have to make some substitutes as I'm a vegetarian. But I love Bircher, porridge, all her snacks and salads etc

I'm starting tomorrow and wondered if anyone had some advice regarding the method or stories

Thanks!

@LyraSilvertongueBelacqua there are 3 different books, Lean for life, The cookbook and the 6 week plan.

All contain different recipes (not vastly different however but different enough to give more ideas) and all outline the plan. I dip into all of them but tend to look at the 6 week plan the most I think

The 'bare bones' of the plan are that it's pretty much sugar free - so you can't even have honey for example. Alas, no Kit Kats in the initial phase! It's also lower in carbs although these are allowed - just take care not to have a breakfast pitta, a wholemeal roll for lunch , banana for snack etc etc, try and just have one obviously carby thing a day. There are no potatoes, pasta or white rice at all on plan

I'd recommend your first week just selecting foods from the book(s) and keeping to sensible portions

Thanks so much @HardRockOwl that's all very helpful. Book ordered and am going to try!

HardRockOwl · 14/04/2022 10:20

@LyraSilvertongueBelacqua good luck! And do keep posting

I've not felt hungry on this plan at all - and I'm a person who literally enjoys feeling uncomfortably stuffed, which I know sounds weird and probably not relatable! I can eat a load of say, savoury food, and feel really full but still need to eat some dessert or sweets etc

I've had hungrier days of course and i can get peckish between meals or snacks but that's normal and I've never gone to bed feeling hungry

Just see how you go for one week not going off piste and just selecting from the book. I have quite a chunk of weight to lose too - 2 stone and err then some if I'm being totally honest with myself! - and I've managed 11 lbs off in a fortnight which is OK

@EssexLioness do any of these take your fancy for breakfast ..:

Greek avocado toasts

Tex mex beans

Asparagus + smashed bean tartines

Grilled nectarine with cheese

Baked fruit with vanilla ricotta

Hi all, checking in after a couple of days. Husband has some time off work at the same time as me so we've had a couple of family days out which is problematic as he mostly takes charge of food and tends to pack snacks like currant buns. I have managed to swerve clear of these on the whole and kept up my exercise and am definitely feeling a little leaner in last couple of days. Tonight is going to be a fairly large step out of the circle due to a longstanding arrangement for a gin, pizza and chocolate cake evening with a friend. I am making a calculated decision not to stress then get straight back in the circle in the morning, it's not like I have anything else planned like that coming up! Went for a lovely sunny run this morning and it felt really good, some of the shorter Hit type sessions I've done over the last couple of weeks have helped with my strength I think.

HardRockOwl · 14/04/2022 12:15

Ooh pizza and chocolate sounds like my kind of an evening @ElvenDreamer And you know what Louise says .. you have to live too, so just step right back in tomorrow and enjoy tonight guilt free

Re weighing, there is research saying daily weighing helps WL. However in my experience weigh weekly when trying to lose & daily when maintaining.
I certainly think you need to enjoy cooking for this woe. I happen to, and it is quiet now so I have the time.
Lioness I had the peaches & vanilla cream for breakfast today - v good. Also, someone linked to the LP recipe book upthread, see if you can find it & download.
Broccoli, leek & butterbean soup for lunch, mustard & cider pork for dinner.

HardRockOwl · 14/04/2022 12:20

Started my day with porridge, total 0% yogurt with a little good vanilla paste and some raspberries

Onto my snack now - it's a chocolate cherry smoothie from the cookbook I think! Made with oat milk, 1/2 scoop protein powder, frozen berries and a tablespoon of oat bran

Louise Parker method anyone? I know it's a bit old fashioned now ..

Just hopping on to say that I made the breakfast pancakes this morning - I had no dried skimmed milk powder so left it out and they were perfectly tasty! Def recommend adding cocoa powder for Choc versions - yum with either berry sauce or orange/ricotta/yoghurt business.

Wallabyone · 14/04/2022 13:15

I've been reading this thread and it's so interesting, so thank you! I ordered the cookbook from eBay, as lots of the food you've been discussing is the stuff I like to eat. I have been a slimming world member for a while and I love it, so I'm using the ideas from here to hopefully accelerate the loss as I have around 7lbs to go until I'm where I feel comfortable.

Wallabyone · 14/04/2022 13:16

I meant to add that I find cutting down on carbs helps me, so that's what I'm aiming for.
I've just had a salad with leaves, quinoa (from a pouch), beetroot, halloumi and cherry tomatoes and a bit of houmous-it was delicious.

Topazpearlagain · 14/04/2022 13:16

For LyraSilverTongueBelacqua and anyone else who may have missed it, the cookbook is available as a free download here

Topazpearlagain · 14/04/2022 13:19

Though having a hard copy is better, I find that I am making notes in mine, but the online copy is good for giving a good idea of what it is about.
Whatever about weight loss, I had the realisation today that this is so much healthier than the woe that I had slipped into.

EssexLioness · 14/04/2022 13:23

Thank you @HardRockOwl, unfortunately none of those are any good for me. I am autistic and have far too many food aversions to list! That’s partially why my food is quite repetitive. I think I will have fruit and yoghurt for breakfast instead of in the afternoon, or maybe even just a coffee if I’m not too hungry. Thank you for looking though 😊

indiesearcher · 14/04/2022 13:23

Could not agree more @Topazpearlagain - weight loss should happen even if slowly, it just feels really healthy (even if there is a good bit of prep!)

indiesearcher · 14/04/2022 13:49

Lunch - leftover slaw and halloumi with a few puy lentils. Nom nom nom

HardRockOwl · 14/04/2022 16:13

Have had a low carb wrap for lunch with plant kitchen bbq chicken pieces and salad and a little hummus

No snack sadly as I've been out and about so I'll have a hot chocolate drink with my dinner I think or some nuts

Haven't decided on dinner yet - probably lentils with pomegranate seeds and halloumi

@EssexLioness no worries! Was worth a go! You've got to stick to what you know will suit you

Can't beat apple wedges and crunchy peanut butter dip for a snack 😋

HardRockOwl · 14/04/2022 19:28

@indiesearcher I love that too and I think I'll get some Pink Ladies tomorrow! You've inspired me

Food times today ...

Porridge with 0% Greek yogurt, vanilla paste + raspberries

Chocolate berry smoothie

Low carb wrap with hummus, plant kitchen pieces + salad

Strawberries + mixed nuts

Grains with halloumi + salad

Nice food times @HardRockOwl

I've just had dinner; more raw slaw (thank goodness it's gone now!) and some very tasty Waitrose ready to cook pork and mozzarella meatballs. I'm certain they were a bit naughty but the principle of protein+veg was there.

Otherwise, a saintly day!

Still don't want to step on the scales though!

indiesearcher · 14/04/2022 19:47

Oh and I got my 10k steps in!

shinynewapple22 · 14/04/2022 23:59

B porridge with chia seeds, slimmed milk, apple and a tea spoon of almond butter

L half sachet cooked lentils, broccoli and feta cheese
(Really like the blanched broccoli in salad - would never have thought of doing that)

Snack - two rice cakes with peanut butter

D salmon with mashed celeriac and broccoli

Snack cherries with Greek yogurt with some ground ginger and cocoa powder mixed in

Big fail on the phone curfew !

Morning everyone, I've been using this week as my prep week though I've not been brilliant at cutting my sugar/diet coke habits so far.🙈😂

Thanks for the info about not drinking the lemon water. I'm just going to pretend I didn't read it.

But I am planning on trying out some recipes over the next few days and started this morning with the strawberry and pistachio overnight oats. It was a lot less awful than I had feared but is there a way to make it less paste like? Should I add in a bit more milk/yogurt to loosen it up a bit? It was fine but it was definitely set and I could have moulded it into different shapes if I'd wanted to.😂

I'm going to have a go at some of the beans at lunch I think and will make some of the snacks too. I'm also going to focus on lots of water and movement.

I'm not sure tea is really in the circle - I'm making curry which has coconut milk and the like in it though I will be making my own chapati using allowed flour and I'll not have rice so it may not be that far off.

Good luck with your day ahead everyone!

Sorry I was quiet yesterday. Eating went well. Got blood test results from GP which shows I have borderline hypothyroidism so not bad enough that meds are required but at a level which will prob impact my weight loss. Makes sense tbh as the process has been painfully slow.

Anyway, period started today so I woke up absolutely starving which means I did cave and have some buttered toast. Granary bread but the spread isn’t in the circle. Lunch will be veg and lentil stew and then dinner probably a protein shake, yoghurt for snack. Workout done and popped to Tescos for some veg, and petrol… ended up buying an Easter egg too which is obviously not on plan. But I figured it’s ok to have these things occasionally. I wasn’t going to bother but I think hormones were calling today so it happened. Otherwise will stay in the circle all weekend as no big plans to knock me off track.

Hope you are all enjoying the sunshine. Do you have any big plans over Easter or is it business as usual?
