Wow! No 4. Thank you

Knittingnanny2 · 10/03/2022 14:20

Thank you

Knittingnanny2 · 10/03/2022 16:25

We had better stay on this thread for life! I remember years and years reading that a good way to stop putting on weight is to tie a piece of non stretchy string around your waist and never take it off

coldfeetmama · 10/03/2022 20:48

@Knittingnanny2

There is an African culture who do exactly that , when a young lady grows up she has a gorgeous coloured fine decorative ? " string" placed round her waist and that's how she measures her weight stability
I'm a nurse and remember asking a patient about it , one lady told me she had hers as a young teenager another said her new mother in law put it on her 🤭

Knittingnanny2 · 10/03/2022 22:07

Sounds like a good idea, would certainly make you more aware of slow increase in waist size

neverenoughchelseboots · 11/03/2022 06:50

It's topical to ask how littlebabychelseaboots is - we've been in hospital since yesterday morning. He's got bronchiolitis and finding it hard to breathe.

Luckily DH is the type of man to pack a bag with every type of charger and an enormous pack of custard creams so we're comfortable but absolutely shattered. My Fitbit has kindly pointed out that I've had 2 hours 57 minutes sleep. Although reading some of the baby sleep threads on here that's normal for some people! Dear lord that would be hideous.

We're going skiing in a week and now I'm really worried about taking him to the cold mountains with a bad chest.

neverenoughchelseboots · 11/03/2022 06:52

Oh and that string idea made me feel very uncomfortable, like an insidious bullying.

coldfeetmama · 11/03/2022 07:10

Sorry to hear about your baby being unwell , hope for a quick recovery
This visitor hoping to say hi and join you shall leave you ladies to carry on your thread .💐

Sooverthemill · 11/03/2022 07:26

@neverenoughchelseboots oh I'm so sorry to hear that! We are also super organised with a bag always packed with everything under the bed. DD had her first hospital experience age 19 months in the canaries. She had bronchialitis too and had to be nebulised morning and night for * days of our holiday! BUT she recovered fast ( babies tend to) and we were overwhelmed by everyone's kindness. I hope he recovers too and in fact the alpine air might help? Sleep can be caught up on ; she says tripping up over ever and dropping mugs of tea on a daily basis is still after Monday!). I actually now really like hospital food...just as well

Morningmaeve · 11/03/2022 07:48

Hello all. Thanks for the new thread. I do think posting here helps me with accountability even if I go off track for a while sometimes. Sorry to hear some of you have been having a tough time. I'm feeling quite anxious at the moment no doubt due to all the awful war news so will aim for some self care this weekend

WellTidy · 11/03/2022 10:08

Just a quick check in for me this time!

@SwimmingOnEggshells congrats on the loss (I missed this at the time in the last thread), very well deserved given how strict you’d been with yourself

@neverenoughchelseboots sorry to hear that youve been through it this week. It’s awful when they’re not well. Did DH pack a mug for you? It’s on my hospital packing list (ds2 used to be a regular) because having a cup of coffee in my own mug was so much nicer than in a thin plastic cup.

@Knittingnanny2 the Asda jumpsuit is really lovely! Fabulous recommendation, please keep them coming. I tend to only buy in petite ranges but this is a great fit for a petite and so cheap. I bought the small and the medium to try on, the small fits on the top but is a little tighter than I’d like for a beachwear jumpsuit on the hips, the medium is loose on the top (but could be taken in) and perfect on the hips and is also full length (the medium comes up longer than the small). So I am in a quandary. I am heavier than you but won’t be going in a beach holiday for 10 weeks or so and I’m hoping to keep losing.

Weighed in at 9st 6.5lb this morning, which matches my 2022 low seen at the beginning(ish) of the week. A 12.5lb loss this year so far.

WellTidy · 11/03/2022 10:10

@Sooverthemill please be kind to yourself given the time you’ve been having. Your story resonates so much with me and I really feel for you Flowers

neverenoughchelseboots · 11/03/2022 11:24

@Sooverthemill I really like that way of looking at it, you're absolutely right. I try to see night feeds as an opportunity for some peaceful bonding time with lots of cuddles and kisses too, rather than a job to get over and done with. It's amazing how much these different outlooks help.

And that's a super tip about the cup @WellTidy. Although these are the expanded polystyrene ones so I either forgo a drink to save the planet or feel guilty with every sip.

Knittingnanny2 · 11/03/2022 11:47

@WellTidy glad you like it, it’s ankle length on me. The plain black one which I took back as it looked “ cheap” (!!!) was shorter. A tip re tight on hips, those slanty pockets always gape on me and look as if it’s pulling across the hips. I always machine them closed! Then it looks smoother. But like you say the medium could be taken in.
I was going to buy less and better quality but for something I’m only going to wear overseas lounging in the sun I m happy to buy cheap!
Hope our baby is on the mend
I’ve just found out that my youngest injured his knee when I was in Suffolk and is in a knee brace and on crutches. He didn’t want to worry me, when do we ever stop worrying about our children! Football injury on the same knee as he injured falling down some steps at university ten years ago. Hobbling into work though as unlike my 2 eldest who are mega high earners overseas he works in a pub. Showing a good work ethic though hobbling around on crutches!
Just had a call from sedation clinic about my broken tooth ( I’m the most nervous patient in the world) and they wanted to take it out next week when I shall be lounging around and playing with 3 toddlers in my jumpsuit in Singapore! Just hope it doesn’t start hurting when I’m out of NHS territory!
Yes the string around waist sounds extreme- bit like wearing a chastity belt!
It might stop me from stuffing my face mindlessly with chocolate though!
Have a good weekend everyone

Knittingnanny2 · 11/03/2022 11:49

Ps the dentist said they will be weighing me before sedation so that’s an incentive to eat mindfully!

WellTidy · 11/03/2022 11:51

@Knittingnanny2 I think I will keep both jumpsuits and will decide closer to the time which one I best fit into. Ok, I will be wasting one, but I can always donate it to charity as a brand new item. I hope your tooth remains settled for your holiday (have an absolutely wonderful time!) at that your youngest recovers well.

Knittingnanny2 · 11/03/2022 11:56

@WellTidy good idea, I’ve got a couple of Next linen summer dresses in the same colour, one in a 10 and one in a 12

Knittingnanny2 · 11/03/2022 11:59

Because I loved the colour and wore the 12 for a couple of summers. Then found a new 10 on eBay when I lost weight last summer.
I think I’ll always be nearer a 12 though.

Morningmaeve · 14/03/2022 10:28

Happy new week all - I've been for a run c25k W4 R1 and am making bottom of the fridge soup in an attempt to make up for the excesses of the weekend...

SwimmingOnEggshells · 14/03/2022 12:07

Hi everyone, hope you're all keeping well. I was thinking the same as @Sooverthemill about the alpine air - isn't that where people used to go years ago to the sanatariums? They thought the mountain air was good for your lungs. They were always talking about them in the Chalet School books I read as a child.

The string thing is a bit insidious but probably quite effective! I know if I spend my time wearing stretchy lycra leggings I tend to pile on weight - certainly was the case in lockdown no.1!

Weekend was so-so here, probably overdid it a bit. Back on track again though. Coffee for breakfast, banana mid-morning, chowder for lunch and then pot roast for dinner.

Don't you think this thread is a bit height-ist? 😉

neverenoughchelseboots · 14/03/2022 14:40

That's a very good point about the alpine air. We live in a pollution hotspot (lucky us!) so it probably will be good for him.

We ended up back in hospital over the weekend and I added a few bits to the bag that I missed the first time. Next time I'll definitely be taking a flask of decaf coffee because there's no self-serve stations anymore because of covid. Soover and welltidy you have my utmost admiration to handle ongoing health issues and hospital appointments. This wasn't particularly bad but still so draining.

I'm stuck at 9st 6.5. After a consistent lb loss per week, at least, it's galling to be here three weeks later. I'm starting to wonder if this is my natural weight when I'm eating according to my appetite. I was nine and half stone consistently for years before I had children and could get down to 9 if I made an effort, albeit very slowly.

I was enjoying weight loss without trying but alas, my good fortune has run out.

WellTidy · 14/03/2022 19:44

I am yo-yo-ing between 9st 7.5lb and 9st 6.75lb every day and have been for a week. Walked for five or so miles today after a weekend of moving very little, but then I did the work with crème eggs (cannot admit to how many). I’m my own worst enemy.

@Morningmaeve I’m impressed with the running, I am hoping to start c25k at some point this summer

@neverenoughchelseboots I wonder the same about natural weight but you could just be due another decent drop. Keep the faith!

Are you travelling tomorrow @Knittingnanny2? Enjoy the skiing (in a few days’ time?) @neverenoughchelseboots too

Knittingnanny2 · 14/03/2022 20:07

Travelling weds but waiting to get covid result.

Weelegs29 · 14/03/2022 20:16

Hey fellow shorties! Can I join in please? I stand at a very respectable 4ft 11 but a not so respectable 11st :( been successfully calorie counting for around 4 weeks now but can't seem to find the motivation for exercise just yet. Maybe some of you lovely ladies could inspire me?
