Anyone up for loosing a stone - keeping each other company?

I really need to loose a stone. I’m 45, confirmed menopausal and at my heaviest at 11st 12lbs.

This has been gradual weight gain over the last 3 years.

I need to loose it, I feel sluggish and I’m only 5’4 so I’m starting to look like a barrel.

I have a few factors that mean I give up easy, 2 hour daily commute, stressful role in the NHS and the other stuff of juggling 2 kids etc.

So doing this with others, having some accountability would be helpful for me.

@AvDemeisen of course, and best wishes! I’m going to get on the scales this morning. Really been trying to eat less, but I don’t think it’s made much difference. It’s the exercise I need to do/haven’t done!

I think if I set the alarm for 6, now it’s getting lighter - I can get out and do it.

Starting tomorrow! I’ll message back here if I did it….

How’s everyone else been doing?

73kittycat73 · 18/03/2022 19:54

Not good. Had a lot of chocolate yesterday and today. Blush Tomorrow is another day though! Smile Good luck with getting up and out. I prefer exercising earlier in the day, but I'm not that dedicated to get up at 6am to do it! lol Very good luck to you though, I'm sure you can do it.
Hi AvDemeisen and welcome. Smile Are you calorie counting, low carbing, etc?

Thighdentitycrisis · 18/03/2022 20:05

I was so fed up this week - on Monday I weighed 2.5 lb more than my starting weight on 14th Feb! I couldn’t even bring myself to post on hereSad

I am logging on MFP but real don’t want to start calorie counting again. I’m near my highest ever now.

I really don’t want to start

Greyhop · 19/03/2022 08:02

@Thighdentitycrisis

I’m still same weight this morning despite cutting back past 2 weeks. Urgh, this is going to take time!!

Well I got up at 6, but so did DS, so I didn’t get out!! DD said she’d come with me later today. So - day 1 couch to 5k - is run 1min, walk for 2 mins - repeat 8 times. I will do it today - will, will, will.

I do think it’s the exercise that will make the difference.

Greyhop · 19/03/2022 08:03

I had a butterfly cake day yesterday - @73kittycat73. DD wanted to make some, and I couldn’t resist the buttercream….

Thighdentitycrisis · 19/03/2022 08:20

@Greyhop

I agree. I’ve had a bad back since December. I’ve been swimming a bit recently but it doesn’t affect my weight. osteopath says I can start very gentle runs now , but I can’t find headphones!

Yesterday I ran for 10 minutes alternating walking and running

Hi Thighdentitycrisis. It's so hard isn't it? Yesterday evening I just ate again. It's so hard to get your head back in the game, isn't it? I know dieting isn't the answer, but then what is? I was referred to a 12 week weight loss course by my Dr and even on there to lose 5% of my body fat they are saying I need 1200 cals a day! I think I need to go over the course again (On week 4-5 atm.) Well done on your 10 minute run! Star More than I could do!
Ooh cake Greyhop. Grin I'm trying to get my head around this taking time. I ate loads again last night. As for weight loss, I lost a stone in three weeks to start with, then 2lb, the 1lb, and I'm pretty sure on Monday (Weight in day) I'm going to have gained! lol Apart from this week I was eating the same amount of calories so no idea why so much lost then less. I guess we're in it for the long haul!
Sounds like you've got a plan AvDemeisen. Are you weighing yourself? I know some people go by clothes size. Your week sounds very good. I was thinking of trying to up my activity so bought a Fitbit from Amazon yesterday. Delivery driver has put down he delivered, but no photo (They usually post a photo.), and no Fitbit to be found. I had the door open all day too. Tried getting in touch with customer services via there live chat and got a bot that told me they can only step in on the end of March 22nd. Angry Never had a problem with Amazon before. I hope it turns up tomorrow.

Minnie123456 · 20/03/2022 09:56

Morning everyone.
@73kittycat73 I hope your fit bit arrives.
@Greyhop i'm trying to do the same now that the lighter mornings are here, i'm also going to go for a walk when dd has gymnastics instead of sitting in the car eating chocolate&drinking coffee Blush

1.5lbs off this week, 8lbs to loose to hit the 1 stone.

73kittycat73 · 20/03/2022 19:42

Hi Minnie123456. Smile No, no Fitbit yet, I'm hoping tomorrow might bring it. Good idea about the walk. Well done on losing the 1.5lbs! Star

73kittycat73 · 21/03/2022 11:06

Weighed in this morning. Even though I had two bad days, I lost 2lb! Very pleased with that. Hope you are all having a good day too.

Greyhop · 22/03/2022 06:29

@73kittycat73 that’s brilliant!!

Greyhop · 22/03/2022 06:31

I’m just about to get out of bed for a walk/run. My brain is trying to think of excuses not to do it, nope I’m going to go. Here goes!!!!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 22/03/2022 17:53

Well done to those who have lost!

I lost 1/2 kg. My jeans fit better. Smile
The weather is getting slightly warmer, so I will try and walk half the way to work.

73kittycat73 · 23/03/2022 19:56

Hi Greyhop, and thanks. Smile Did you go for your run in the end? It's getting started isn't it? Once you have your trainers on and you are out you might as well have a little walk/run, eh? I'm going for a walk in the sunshine tomorrow (Not up to running yet!)
Well done Prokupatuscrakedatus, and well done on the jeans too! Did you enjoy the half walk to work?

onelife22 · 23/03/2022 20:09

Hey can I join? I have lost 12lb since Jan. Hit a bit of a bump in the road...partly because I'm fed up with calorie counting, my baby doesn't sleep and I'm enjoying not thinking about what I am eating. I have stayed the same for 2 weeks.

I have another stone to get back to pre baby 1 weight. I am breastfeeding my almost 1y/o DD2 and she doesn't sleep at all which makes me hungry.

73kittycat73 · 23/03/2022 20:53

Hi onelife22 Smile Well done on that weight loss! Good going on staying the same too, if you aren't worrying about what you are eating (Have I got that right?). I'd put on loads. Grin
Sorry you aren't getting very much sleep. That can't be helping. Congrats on the baby though (And DD2, so she doesn't feel left out. Smile ).
Do you find the worst time is at night? That's my danger time, if I can't sleep.

DD2 is the baby 😅 definitely wouldn't survive a baby and a one year old 🤣

No I haven't been calorie counting but haven't been going nuts either. Did have a takeaway and a meal out on the weekend, and some wine. Did a lot of walking though which hopefully helped.

I've had a bit of an inactive day today due to a headache and toothache so I think it has given me a kick to start calorie counting again tomorrow and up the steps.

Yes evenings are the worst, I like a big evening meal but find the early evening gap between lunch and dinner once the girls are in bed is where I fall into the crisp cupboard!

73kittycat73 · 23/03/2022 21:08

Sorry about that! Grin
So sorry to hear you have toothache. Sad Not fun. Have you got a dentist you could go to?
Weekends are for fun. Smile I read on these boards I think it's 80/20. If you can be good for 80% of the time, you are doing OK.
Good luck for tomorrow with the steps and food. I just tried a workout on YouTube. I'm 48 but searched 'weights for beginners/older people.' Found one for complete beginners and seniors! lol Was OK. I'm only doing it because muscle burns more calories that fat, and it's good for your bones as you get older.

onelife22 · 23/03/2022 21:28

@73kittycat73 no need to apologise.

Well done for the workout. I did my first exercise class last week and loved it. Caught covid the second week so will try again next week! I'm also going to have a few personal training sessions to give me some confidence.

I have been hiking on the weekend for the last couple of weeks and my Apple Watch calorie burn shoot's up on those days!

Thighdentitycrisis · 24/03/2022 07:37

Hi all
Congratulations to everyone who lost again.
My weight remained the same this week (a small blessing!), so still up by 2lb. My son popped over with a spare headphones at the weekend and I started C25K again on Tuesday. Determined this is going to work …

73kittycat73 · 24/03/2022 20:22

Good luck making it to next weeks session then onelife22. Sounds like you are active loads! Hope it goes well with the personal trainer. Hiking sounds like hard work! lol
Hi Thighdentitycrisis, good luck, and well done, on the C25K. I tried last year and didn't get past run three. lol Maybe later on in the year when I'm a bit fitter and the weather is better.

onelife22 · 24/03/2022 20:37

14543 steps today. Didn't start my calorie counting as I should as I bought lunch for myself, my mum and sister from the farm shop.

Going away this weekend so think the calorie counting will start Monday but I'm not going to go crazy either!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 25/03/2022 07:49

When I walk to work it will get me to 7500 steps max., no idea where I will get the rest. Walking back will add another hour to my work day.
