Anyone up for loosing a stone - keeping each other company?

I really need to loose a stone. I’m 45, confirmed menopausal and at my heaviest at 11st 12lbs.

This has been gradual weight gain over the last 3 years.

I need to loose it, I feel sluggish and I’m only 5’4 so I’m starting to look like a barrel.

I have a few factors that mean I give up easy, 2 hour daily commute, stressful role in the NHS and the other stuff of juggling 2 kids etc.

So doing this with others, having some accountability would be helpful for me.

Sorry to hear that @checkedcloth-look after yourself. Started yesterday with a weight of 10 9. Planning a first week of trying to stop snacking and then when that’s established I will look at my meals more closely.

I'd love to join too, I had a baby 7 months ago and just want to get my body back (or close to!). It's hard to find the time to exercise or cook properly so I'm really struggling - I miss my old clothes!

drybird · 22/02/2022 12:53

@checkedcloth

Oh Lordy, sorry to hear this! Rest up x
drybird · 22/02/2022 12:55

Day 2 check in for me. Tracked all good yesterday and also drank more water than I ever do!!! This morning I've done a spin class and had a swim (because I can get a shower after ☺️). Plan to track all food this week, be at the gym at least 3 times and 10k steps a day. Need to shift this tyre tummy

BonesJones · 23/02/2022 06:29

Oh no checkedcloth! How did it happen?

BonesJones · 23/02/2022 06:43

Have had a good couple of days! Monday had salmon salad and some wholewheat noodles with veg, stuck to 8 hr eating window and did 20 min yoga and 3 hours bouldering. Tuesday 40 mins yoga plus 2 hours bouldering, although didn't stick to 16:8 as I was up from 4am and stomach was properly growling by 8am. Had a banana, yoghurt, coconut milk and egg shake for beakfast, a small goats cheese and spinach sandwich and a square of choc for lunch, two slices of ham wrapped around goats cheese and jalapeños for snack after sport, and a small chicken curry and wholegrain rice for tea, plus 2 squares dark chocolate.

Haven't weighed but feel like I'm on track. In fact I don't think I will weigh or calorie count as I don't really want to get obsessed with numbers and I know I will if I start. More keen to just make better choices overall and go on how I look and feel in my mind and body. Just about to do a weights session now!

73kittycat73 · 23/02/2022 11:28

Bad night last night. I think I ate an extra 900-1000 calories. Hopefully won't do too much damage.

Iwanttoloseweight · 23/02/2022 11:50

Hello, please can I join?
I am 39, 40 this year and don't want to be 40 and fat!

Currently 76kg and want to get to 60kg.

Please share your meal and exercise plans for inspiration and motivation.

73kittycat73 · 23/02/2022 19:28

Almost caved today, luckily didn't have anything in. Grin Got talked round thankfully. I must remember what eating sweet stuff does to me (As a diabetic, and it also really affects my mental health.). The binge last night was yogurts and bread/sandwiches.
Iwanttoloseweight I'm roughly calorie counting. I'm as said diabetic and vegetarian. I eat an Oats So Simple Original with Skinny Syrup for breakfast. Lunch is a banana and orange, sometimes a yogurt too, and lunch today was vegetables, a few tinned potatoes and a vegie garlic kiev. Exercise wise I'm easing myself into it very slowly with a 10 min stretching routine in the morning, and 10 minutes of bedtime yoga at night. Hope that helps!

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 24/02/2022 20:55

Nothing happening at the moment.

recklessgran · 25/02/2022 08:07

Morning all. I've been on the naughty step all week and really need to pull myself together. I've been caught up in a massive family problem which I hope I've now been able to help resolve. [Long story involving one of the two family members I care for] If nothing else I've realised that if I'm upset or stressed I go and binge on carbs. It has to stop. It's a fresh start for me on Monday. I'm giving myself until then to get over the events of the last week or two ,pull myself together and get my head in the zone. I also like a Monday weigh day as it makes me more mindful of "behaving" at the weekend. I do hope eveyone is O.K. here.

73kittycat73 · 25/02/2022 11:09

Good luck for Monday recklessgran, I hope your situation improves and you feel better.Flowers
I was a bit overwhelmed with anxiety yesterday, what with what's going on in the world, but feel better so far today.

Weightlossanne · 27/02/2022 14:46

I’d like to join. I’m hopefully going to actually get to go on holiday this year and unless I lose some weight I’m going to have to buy a whole new wardrobe. To start with I’m going to improve my diet, watch portion sizes and cut out the crap.

Minnie123456 · 27/02/2022 23:01

Oh no @checkedcloth I wish you a speedy recovery.

2lbs down this week although im expecting it to go back on next week as I had a really bad week food wise.

recklessgran · 28/02/2022 10:24

Morning all. Weighing in again after a terrible week or two. I'm making a fresh start at 14st 0.5lbs. I'm amazed that I haven't gained back everything that I lost but guess the stress has helped. I'm determined that I must lose at least 2 stone before my holiday on 18th June otherwise I will need to buy a whole new holiday wardrobe so that needs to be my focus for now.
I hope there are still a few people lurking here as I love hearing how everyone's getting on and how they're doing this apart from the fact that I think I need some interaction with others in the same boat to keep me on track. Have a good day all - I'll be back this evening to post what I've been up to.

73kittycat73 · 28/02/2022 11:10

Good luck to you Weightlossanne and recklessgran. You've got this! Star
Congrats on the 2lb Minnie123456. Smile
It was my weigh in today, lost another 4.12lb. Smile That's a stone off in three weeks. My next goal is to get down to the 12's. I'm currently 13st 2.4lbs.

Bideyinn · 28/02/2022 12:15

1 week in. Measured myself today (I don’t have scales) and have lost 1/2 inch from chest, 1 inch from waist, 1 1/2 inches from hips and 1/2 inch from my thighs. Quite pleased with that and think the 100 squats a day is really helping me tone up.

Bideyinn · 28/02/2022 12:16

I’m finding it hard though.

recklessgran · 28/02/2022 16:06

Bloody hell @73kittycat73 you're a slimming superstar - a stone in 3 weeks is AMAZING. Very well done to you, you must be so chuffed! I'd be happy with half that in 3 weeks. Time will tell - so far so good. No carbs consumed yet. I have had a chicken breast with a green salad, a hard boiled egg and a slice of ham so far today. Not feeling hungry due to lots of protein. Long may it last. Not sure what I'll be having for dinner - more chicken salad I think. Oh, and a sugar free jelly and raspberries after that. I'll still be under my proposed 1000 calories and well under the 50gms of carbs I'm allowing myself. I've drunk numerous black coffees so need to switch to water now if I'm going to have any hope of sleeping tonight.

73kittycat73 · 28/02/2022 19:55

Good going Bideyinn! Star Do you have a goal in mind? Or mini goals? Maybe plan something to look forward to every time you reach one?
Thank you recklessgran. Smile Your day sounds great. Well done on eating so healthily. Do you suffer with your sleep? I get insomnia, I just can't nod off. Once I'm asleep I'm usually OK, it's just getting to sleep! I've tried numerous pillow sprays (Can try Nitol or anything like that due to medication I'm on.) but I've had luck recently with this. I rub it on my wrists before going to bed and it helps a lot. I've also been trying a magnesium spray nightly.

recklessgran · 28/02/2022 21:57

@73kittycat73 yep, I'm an insomniac. I get off to sleep alright but wake up after about 3 hours and I'm wide awake and ready for the day - except it's 3.00am or some ungodly hour. I've tried everything but I'm simply not tired! I long to be able to have a lie in like normal people. I'm used to it now but I do try to take what steps I can to help myself but actually nothing really works. I put it down to having 5 DD's and all the sleepless nights that entailed alongside working night shifts for years whilst they were growing up. They've all grown and flown long ago but old habits die hard it seems. Meanwhile DH can sleep for Britain and often doesn't appear until 10.00am by which time I've usually been up for 6 hours already.

Minnie123456 · 28/02/2022 23:26

Well done to everyone who has lost.

I've fallen off the wagon completely and i'm struggling to get back on

73kittycat73 · 01/03/2022 12:09

I'm sorry to hear that recklessgran, I really am. I know how frustrating it is to just lie there in the dark, in bed, where you're supposed to be relaxed and asleep! The only thing I've found to help is that CBD oil I linked to above. It's not perfect but where as before I was sleep one night, then up for 24 hours or more, I usually get a 'good' 2-3 nights now.
Sorry to hear you are struggling Minnie123456. I would have caved last night-except I didn't have anything in! lol That's the only way I manage it atm. Day time is fine, my danger time is at night (When I can't sleep! I used to get up and get something sweet then manage to get back off again, 95% of the time.) but I've only don't it because there is nothing sweet to eat. I appreciate that might not work for you if you have more than you in your house?

Minnie123456 · 05/03/2022 18:29

@73kittycat73 sometimes it's savoury things I crave as well, maybe I need to get locks on my fridge/cupboards and give DH the key lol.

Weigh in tomorrow, not looking forward to it. Had another rubbish week, when AF is due I could eat 24/7.

73kittycat73 · 05/03/2022 19:12

Good luck for tomorrow. I'm so glad I'm passed AF now! (Had a hysterectomy a few years ago.). It's mad how it can make you crave so much isn't it?
