Anyone up for loosing a stone - keeping each other company?

I really need to loose a stone. I’m 45, confirmed menopausal and at my heaviest at 11st 12lbs.

This has been gradual weight gain over the last 3 years.

I need to loose it, I feel sluggish and I’m only 5’4 so I’m starting to look like a barrel.

I have a few factors that mean I give up easy, 2 hour daily commute, stressful role in the NHS and the other stuff of juggling 2 kids etc.

So doing this with others, having some accountability would be helpful for me.

Stayed the same, am happy with that as I was expecting a gain.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 06/03/2022 16:52

Hello all,
I managed to keep to my calorie limit and will weigh myself tomorrow morning. Peppers and carrots are lovely, they really are, but not very festive for a Lent Sunday.

73kittycat73 · 06/03/2022 19:24

Well done Minnie123456, always a nice when you don't gain! Smile
Good luck for tomorrow Prokupatuscrakedatus. It's my weigh in day too.

73kittycat73 · 06/03/2022 19:25

Always a nice?! lol Don't know where that extra 'a' came from.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 07/03/2022 17:26

I (slightly proud) announce the loss of 1 kg, which - of course - I lost not from my waist but from my legs.

Greyhop · 07/03/2022 17:45

Also 11st 12 and want to lose a stone.

After a day of eating left over chocolate from DD’s party, I need to start now.

I’ve done it before via couch to 10k. But I can’t get the motivation up to do it again.

I found leaflet delivery more motivating - so I shall message the guy tomorrow to get a round…

Are there any good daily youtube type work outs? It’s my lower belly, back I need to focus on.

73kittycat73 · 07/03/2022 19:20

Well done Prokupatuscrakedatus. Star I only managed a 2lb loss this week. I know it's OK, but I started exercising a week ago too. Thought the weight would continue to drop off...Bit gutted tbh.
Greyhop have you tried Our Parks ? I'm doing the couch to Bhangra.

Greyhop · 09/03/2022 07:41

I managed to avoid all chocolate yesterday, had a bowl of lentils, porridge - and chewed gum.
I also drank a lot of tea!
No exercise though…

Greyhop · 09/03/2022 07:42

Thank you for that @73kittycat73 - I shall take a look!

Greyhop · 09/03/2022 07:45

@73kittycat73 I’ve found in the past that it takes a good 2/3 weeks before I start seeing results. But 2lbs is great already! I shall weigh myself today as starting point.

73kittycat73 · 09/03/2022 10:15

Hi Greyhop, well done on avoiding the chocolate! Star Good luck for the weigh in. Smile

Greyhop · 10/03/2022 13:01

@73kittycat73

I was 11st 8 - that’s 3 pounds less then when I got on last. Doesn’t make sense as I had only started diet 2 days ago. Probably down to weighing at a different time of day. I’ve managed to eat healthier - but no exercise yet. How are you doing?

73kittycat73 · 10/03/2022 17:54

Craving chocolate! Grin Doing OK though thank you. I just haven't got any chocolate in. Trying to curb my cravings with Muller Lights. Only one a day though.
Congrats on the 3lbs! I'd take that as a win. Star How often are you planning to weigh yourself?

Greyhop · 11/03/2022 09:17

Yes! Just not having it in the house helps - I find the same with wine…

I’m trying to chew gum every time I get a sweet craving. Not sure that’s the best thing to do tho!

I’ll take it as a win Wink - thank you!

Guess every other day? How about you?

Any diet foods would be good to hear about too? I’ve got some Jamie Oliver lentils pouches which take 1 min in microwave.

And it’s motivating to write here!

I'll join you. I am 60, very overweight after lockdown and now have backache from extra weight. I want to be able to walk on holiday so must lose weight. I am aiming for 2 stone. I also have underactive thyroid. I am having slim fast for lunch everyday as it is filling with lots of fibre. Only been trying for 3 days though. Main problem I have is back is so painful ATM I can't ex excercise. I did not buy any snack food in shop last night though, no crisps, no choccy biscuits or cake, just low fat yogurts and fruit. I can't eat what I don't have. Because I can't excercise ATM except a swim, I will have to be very strict with myself.

caringcarer · 11/03/2022 10:17

@cheasybeans19, me to with the snacks but try what I did, don't buy it when you shop, then you can't eat it.

caringcarer · 11/03/2022 10:27

Minnie, you are a superstar.

73kittycat73 · 11/03/2022 10:57

I weigh every Monday. For diet food, I like Skinny Bars and I have the zero calorie syrup on my porridge at breakfast.
Hi caringcarer. Smile Do you find it hard to lose with an underactive thyroid? I have a relative with that also and she finds it hard to lose weight.
Sorry, I hope I haven't put you off there! I'm sure you'll do great. Welcome aboard. Smile

Minnie123456 · 12/03/2022 09:19

Hope everyone is well.
1/2lb off this week. Im trying to get out walking more. Got out once this week for 30mins before work, going to try and walk the mornings im on the slightly later shift.
Anyone else get self conscious exercising? I was out walking at 7am & felt that everyone driving past where staring at me, they probably weren't lol

gindreams · 12/03/2022 09:21

I am joining

I have three stone to lose 😊

73kittycat73 · 12/03/2022 10:46

Hi Minnie123456, congrats on the 1/2lb loss. Star
Hi gindreams, welcome aboard. Smile How are you planning on losing, LCHF, calorie counting, etc?

Greyhop · 12/03/2022 11:29

@Minnie123456 a ‘bit’ self conscious. If I start 0 to 5k again, it very gradually builds from 1 minute walk/1 minute run. It’s when I break into the run! I was taking DD with me and that was helping. I’ll have to talk her into it again…

73kittycat73 · 14/03/2022 11:17

1lb loss here this week. Not too disappointed as hoping for a 'swoosh', or bigger drop in 1-2 weeks time.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 14/03/2022 16:32

Down another 1kg but it does not show from a fashion point of view.
What I do notice is that I can bend down further and can get my knee higher up.
